    Roll call!

JaJeanne, Congrates on your 16lb weight loss. That is awesome  Keep up the great work. I know how the head hunger can be, but you can beat it!! Just think of the scale not moving when you eat the unhealthy/high calorie things, then think about the scale moving down when you choose a low cal snack, like SF pudding...YUM. But believe me, I really fight with head hunger myself :cool2:, Just wanted to give you some encouragement. I know it is tough, but getting surgery is tough too and you did it!! LR

    Roll call!

Hello alll, sooo happy that they added this site. I too researched the band and stalked this site day and night, but I decided to go with the sleeve becuase I live in a remote area and fills would have cost an arm and a leg, plus I loved Wasabubblebutt's informaition and decided to go straight for the sleeve...best choice I ever made! I'm 16 days out with a loss of 16 lbs. The head hunger still gets to me and I have made some bad food choices, (and threw up-I know not good, very bad!) but I am really trying to stick on plan, 4 more days until mushy, I can do it... I had 1/4 c of clam chowder at lunch and I am still full, I mean full!!! Thank God for this surgery! No matter what you do, do it for yourself and you'll never be sorry... All the best!

    Anyone revise to a DS?

Well, I have a slipped band and am currently unfilled. While I'm still grieving the loss of my band, I also have to start thinking about my future. I haven't been as successful as I would have hoped with my band, so I'm thinking of revising to a procedure that also has malabsoprtion. I could get the RNY in 6-8 weeks, but I'm leaning towards the DS which would require switching surgeons and could mean up to a 6 month wait. I'm also terrified of regaining weight while I'm unfilled and waiting for another procedure. Has anyone here revised to the DS? Does anyone have any words of wisdom about dealing with the disappointment and fear of having their band removed?
  5. 70 to go. Lost 2 pounds last two weeks. Is this just a stall or does the weight loss slow down. I am only a month out of surgery.
  6. Ok, I went on a bit of a crazy spending spree this evening. I ordered from Amazon, Unjury, and Bariatric Choices and I spent, hmm, lets see, about $152! OMG! I just couldn't help myself! I ordered protein soups, protein drinks (clear kinds like Isopure and Protidiet), mixing cup, Unjury's starter pack, a portable hand mixer, etc (I have some weight watcher powder packs here that I can barely stomach because they don't mix well in my shaker bottle with the whisk ball, I am hoping the little portable mixer will do the trick). Earlier today, I bought a thermos, tea, various gummy vitamins, and crystal light water bottle packs at Target. I am SO excited and ready for this weight loss journey to begin! I am scheduled for surgery with Dr. Ramos Kelly on July 15th at Oasis Hospital, I will spend 2 days in the hospital and 2 nights in the hotel, although, I am thinking of staying an extra night in the Lucerna hotel for my peace of mind, "just in case". I know you understand when I say I can hardly think of anything else. They would like me to start my preop diet 2 weeks before, but I am thinking of starting 3 weeks before so I can feel even more confident. I am so proud of myself for doing this, and although I am a bit nervous, I know that I am making the right decision for me! I have a skinny, healthy person inside of me just dying to come out!

    Feeling Down

I'm not sure why you're down or feeling bad. 20 pounds is a lot of weight. The average weight loss rate is 1-2 pounds a week. You're above that considerably. I think maybe you need more realistic expectations of yourself and the band. The weight didn't come on overnight and it's going to take time to lose, too. Be patient, stick to your doctor's rules, and the weight will come off.

    2'nd fill

Have my 2'nd fill on Thursday April 12'th. Wow...I am restricted alright! I think I need to be emptied a little actually. I have slimed at least once a day since Thursday. I'm having a hard time getting things down with chestpain. Solids that is. Even cereal too. Shakes, grits, yogurt, icecream all go down fine. I guess I've caused some irritation with gagging and maybe I'm still swollen but if this continues throughout the week I'm going to call to have some taken out. I'm at 2.2 right now. The weight loss have been very slow....it discouraging really. I've only lost an additional 3 pounds in 3 weeks. 25 pounds loss in all so far. Well, at least I haven't gained.

    Hair loss

If you love your skin, don't try Biotin, it won't stop your hair from shedding and it makes a lot of people break out. It isn't worth the risk, imo. The best thing you can do is create and environment that promotes fast regrowth. If your hair is going to fall out, nothing will stop it. a high quality hair Vitamin like, Phyto. Collagen supplements, and exceeding your Protein goals helps. Hair is protein. When I wanted to make my hair grow fast prior to surgery I always increased my protein.

    What Was Your First?

It looks like eggs and retried beans are the popular first foods. I just finished up 1 of my 3 weeks of liquids and I so can't wait for real food! It's gonna be a long 2 more weeks. The positive thing though is I'm not getting in many calories so my weight loss should be good. :-)

    Let's talk about spanx

I can't help you with my (personal or reading) knowledge of SPANX, but I would like to: CONGRATULATE YOU on your terrific weight-loss. YOU GO, GIRL!!!
  14. I say drink protein shakes, and focus on nutrition. Otherwise dont worry too much about weight loss. Baby will take what he wants/ needs. However you dont want to get malnutrition for yourself, so even with no appetite focus on protein. Your appetite will probaby come back. Mine did. Lots of women lose lots of weight during pg, and have perfect babies. As long as you arent starving yourself and trying to lose weight, dont worry too much. They will monitor baby closely. COngrats!

    Headaches

Drinking more water or fluids usually helps with mine. I have also had some tension headaches though from the weight loss and carrying myself different so I try to stretch throughout the day too

    self doubt!

It is because we have conditioned our brains for failure in dieting because that is what we always did! It seems to get a little better the farther out you get but I'm still amazed every time it shows a large loss! All of us are different but I have committed to doing EXACTLY as my surgeon tells me to do (after all I did trust him to cut out 80% of a vital organ) and not push the boundaries like drinking carbonation, eating sweets, caffeine, etc. I have seen too many who are successful for a couple of years then go back up. I want to do everything to keep that from happening because obviously we don't know how best to lose and keep it off or we wouldn't need that surgery! I think a little healthy fear is good for us to keep us on the right track! Before anyone takes offense to the boundary comment, I am strictly talking about me and my journey! I am not putting anyone else down for what they choose to do! We all do what we feel is right for us!

So lost in regular women's clothing!

I wish we had a Macy's here but we don't. I need to go get sized for a bra. My boobs are definatly droopy so there'd be no way to measure them w/o a bra on. I'd get a 38 Long and flat if that were the case. Gap has some nice clothing for I think about any age and banana Republic but they can be quite pricy. I know I've gone with a 25 year old very well dressed friend to those stores and also my 60 year relative who is a business woman. I don't know about their size though. LL bean is another you can check out and maybe Eddie Bauer? Something funny I was also thinking of when I read this. I've always been the odd girl (Piercings, dyed hair, outrageous clothing) but now that I'm losing weight I don't find myself attracted to mainly all odd styles. I think before it was "Notice that I'm odd not that I'm fat" and now I just don't care. Helluva a change being I'm 32. : /

    Swallowing vitamins

I'm having the band. My docs nutritionist told us to start taking vitamins like we are having gastric bypass because we won't be getting the nessicary vits. from the amount of food we are eating (or drinking). They also said that when we are on a regular diet again we will take like half as many. Isn't everyone required to take vits.? they told me my hair will "thin out" if I don't get the nutrition my body needs with these suppliments. Basically they scared me into submission, oh yea, and they don't sell the vits. Do you have to take any?

    I'm Scared - Need support

You said it when you said you were in Bandster Hell. I was there too at one time. Didn't lose weight for almost three weeks! The weight will come off. The band is a tool and I have been learning..it is effective! I like Froggie's idea...split your exercise up into small increments. I still trick myself. I'll tell myself I'm going to walk for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, I figure..why not do another 10 minutes..it really works! I know it's hard to find time. I work as a nurse full time and go to school part time. Exercise is what got my weight loss going again. Hang in there...you'll get the weight off! Good luck Stacy!

    I told my husband

I have been with my boyfriend for 5 years not and never once told him how much I weigh. I never told a soul until I started to meeting other people who had the weight loss surgery and all were shocked to find out the true number.. I am very tall so I can hide my weight better. Just last week my BF and I were talking and he said he couldn't wait until I loss some weight so we could go out more and do things. (before I would get tired and wouldn't want to be out long) and when he said that I started crying.. told him I was so mad at myself and finally broke down and told him my true weight.. which was soooo hard to say and made me sob harder, I felt soo ashamed. He had no idea and has been very supportive.
  23. So wish me luck people's I am FINALLY going in for my first fill tomorrow morning!! I cannot believe it has been 7.5 weeks since my surgery and I have managed to last this long without gnawing on my arm!!! Please little Kaylee (my band) give me some relief and work for a period of time to give me restriction for a while!!:w00t: I need to get this thing kickstarted again....it has been too long between losses!!

    Need some encouragment

Hey hun, Number one you sound like you are doing great. Secondly your body an fluctuate up to 7 pounds a day, due to the water in your body so no worries on that. I know for me it helps making smaller goals, but not basing everything on those numbers. I make like 2-4 pounds goals that way 10 doesn't seem so out of reach. The scale is just a number, base your success on how good you feel, how much better your clothes fit, but dont worry so much about all the other stuff. Go on your trip regardless of the number on the scale, u never know if the relaxation can jump start your weight loss, and those 10 pounds melt off. Good luck hun.

I Have To Follow Thru This Time!

Here I go again! My insurance requires a 6 month weight loss/education process prior to surgery. This is probably my 5th time starting this process. Years have passed between my first time registering and my restart this year in April. I am determined to follow through this time. I have continually gained weigh over the years and I am now at the point where I have to make some serious changes. Although I wish I would have lost weight over the years, I'm kinda glad I waited because I feel at peace with having the sleeve surgery and I didn't feel that way about any of the other surgeries. I'm inspired by everyone's stories and success. I'm excited but I ha know I have to stay focus. I'm ready for this life change.
