All great advice & encouragement. Thank you. I told my fiancé what I needed to do to get back on track, cleaned out anything that is a stumbling block for me from the fridge & cupboards and stocked up on healthy foods. These first couple days have been hard. My first day with my "dessert" of plain ff greek yogurt with PB2 & stevia I felt down right depressed. Today I am going to a bridal show & Wednesday I have my first 2 appointments to try on wedding dresses. That should kick my butt into high gear!

Any soft food ideas?
KristenLe replied to elaina831's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A few possibilities... Hummus, cottage cheese, eggs, soft cheese, tuna, salmon, Greek yogurt, beans, creamy soup... Did you have a Nutritionist with your program? They should be a good resource. Concentrate on protein, watch for sugar/added sugar, and low carbs. -
I think I'm regretting the sleeve
mlm28 replied to Huggies123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks Ann! I had a check up one month post op....everything was fine. I think chewing is one of my problems. Baby food consistency is fine like yogurts, mash...I thought about flying back if it doesn't get better. Tonight I had meatballs soup and was much better. Solids are my enemies for now. -
they said 1/4 cup--i tried a bacon and bean strained soup---yuck!! it was so salty--i think i may try yogurt next! i am in need of something else!!!

I did talk to her and via PM and she was very helpful. I think right now, I can eat so little that I don't have a choice about meat, but as my capacity increases, I may be able to add more vegetarian Protein sources. Honestly even now, of everything I ate yesterday, I got the most protein out of cottage cheese, yogurt and cheese anyway so it's kinda working.

So glad you are finding relief and the vinegar hopefully gave you some relief until you got the yogurt.

Thinking about cheating.... opinions??
vbaldwin replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok - put all that behind you. I had a pre-op diet, but it wasn't too bad at all. I could have 2 servings of egg, whole wheat bread, low-fat yogurt, fruit one time/day. Then 2 Protein Shakes. Then 4 oz of baked chicken and 1 serving of a green veggie. I know that was a very generous pre-op diet. Others I know were on straight liquid for 2 weeks prior (5 Protein shakes per day). You could supplement SF popcicles, SF Jello and that helps! Hang in there and do the diet so your surgery will be safe. -
When will the hunger go away and the weight loss resume?
RedSox90 replied to daphne999's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same boat you are. I was banded October 5. The first two weeks or so, I was eating nothing but a few yogurts a day and was totally satisfied. But then the swelling went down and, while maybe I can't eat AS MUCH as I could before, I can definitely eat whatever kind of food I want. It's definitely frustrating. I am hoping it will become easier to lose weight (and harder to eat!) after getting my first fill. I go in the day before Thanksgiving! So it might help me out that I will be on full liquids on Turkey Day! The mashed potatoes would have killed me on mushies! -

Can I afford the post-op diet?
GreenTealael replied to sheslittletex's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I edited it to say Amazon and Walmart once I read you were in Hawaii (derp , speed reading), yes yogurt can replace a supplement. *Most* Teams prefer that you eventually work to get your protein macros from real foods instead of shakes when you can. -
We count them as calories. We also count their protein content. We don't count carbs. We count calories 1000-1200, and Protein 60-80g+ We are discouraged from eating carbs that are high glycemic and have simple sugar that causes insulin spikes. Hummus and lentils are staples in my diet...they are low glycemic, and paired with brown rice protein make a complete amino acid. I also eat a lot of oatmeal, greek yogurt, and will be eating more nuts and seeds next week:)

PINKBERRY AND FRO-YO
No game replied to lifelovekix's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I'm sure you can eat it... But is it a comparable replacement for the shakes? No. If your on full liquids try some Fage plain Greek yogurt with some Splenda and vanilla extract. -
Are there any low bmi's who talk often?
annestoy replied to annestoy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
How is it going? I got sleeved 6 days ago and I'm back at work and 8 pounds lighter! The hospital and doctors were great. Now, I'm trying to figure out what I can drink that tastes ok, not too sweet and will give me energy. I made popsicles with my protein powder and fruit and yogurt and put them in the freezer for this, but they taste gross. I've been trying all kinds of stuff. I'm going to try Slim Fast low carb in chocolate, I hear on the forums that it's a favorite. -

Feb 2017 sleevers - how's everyone doing post-op?
ApplevsOrange replied to biginjapan's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all! I was sleeved 2/28. I am feeling better, only having mild tummy pain when sitting up from a bed or chair. I am going on regular walks and enjoying Greek yogurt on my full liquid diet! My favorite protein shakes are premier protein or muscle milk banana creme. I am 12 days post op and down 18 pounds from surgery. I am so grateful for my new tool! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I got my band a week ago tomorrow and I am on the clear liquids diet for one week. I am constantly hungary and I am drinking constantly also. I feel like there is nothing there after I have eaten the recomended amount. My wife had the surgery done at the same time as me. She seems to be full after a yogurt or a few bites of cottage cheese. Am I doing something wrong? Or do other people have this problem after being banded. I know I have cravings still but I am able to tell the difference between hungar and craving. If anyone has advice for me let me know what you think.

So...what's up with SALAD?
IndioGirl55 replied to morningoasis811's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hey Pam.. I am ok with salads too - I really don't have any no no's - sometime salami will stick a little - but I have had toast - grilled cheese - have rice most nites - only had pasta once in a great while and haven't in a long time - you get more rice for the calories than pasta.. I have pb'd on pudding or yogurt if eating too fast - for me that's what will bring on the pb being a little piggy and eating too fast.... -

Anyone struggling with Insomnia
cindymg replied to kyleebean's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a problem with insomnia early on. I found that if I had a high-protein dairy snack before I went to bed, then I could sleep. Try cottage cheese or Greek yogurt. Something easy to digest. Also, don't exercise before bedtime. And take Calcium and magnesium before bed. They help make you sleepy. Take multi- Vitamin early in the day. If none of that works, call your primary care physician. -
Where do you get your protein goal from?
Creekimp13 replied to Tannedhaggis2's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
There are a bunch of them out there. I just wing it and put half a cup of oatmeal in my little smoothie blender with three egg whites, maybe 1/4 cup cottage cheese, a half a teaspoon of baking powder, and a glob of greek yogurt. If it's too dry, I add more yogurt and sometimes a little almond milk. After the batter rests for a few minutes it will get very thick as the oats suck up the fluid. I make silver dollar pancakes and eat about 5 and put the rest in the freezer. This recipe is awesome with blueberries. Maple Grove Farms sugar free syrup is 5 calories a serving and isn't bad! I also love them with home made apple butter made with Splenda instead of sugar. -
I am going to start adding protein powder to my food to get away from drinking protein shakes (which I am beginning to loathe) so my question is, when you are making hot food like oatmeal or soup, do you add the protein powder at the beginning and cook it with the food, or at the end when the food is already hot? I added protein powder to yogurt yesterday without a problem, but that was cold. I haven't tried any in hot food yet.

started two days ago. Mine is two weeks... 3 carnation instant breakfast (essentials) - 1 yogurt - 2 pieces of fruit -1 cup of broth - Jelllo & sugar free popsicles. NO COFFEE - not even decaf ... My doctor told me on Tuesday that he doesn't want me to be hungry - so if I need to supplement with a scrambled egg or an occasional oatmeal or an extra yogurt that is fine with him. I have been dreading this... but on the second day it really isn't that bad... I am putting protein powder into my shakes and honestly I am not hungry - I like the cucumber idea because chewing and crunching on something is the only thing that is making me mildly crazy... I also heard ice chips... so far so good..

I love the Dannon Light and Fit Greek yogurt. Today I found two flavors I want to try: pineapple and the Key Lime pie. I already like blueberry, peach, and strawberry. I'm so glad they make this yogurt in so many flavors so we have a nice variety. This brand was suggested by my dietician.
