I have one!! This week my NSV was wrapping a towel around myself with nothing showing!! Not a bath towel, but still an accomplishment to me!! And I upped my weights at the gym from 12.5 to 25.

Nsv That I Still Can't Believe

That is by far the BEST NSV I have ever heard!! (and I have read some really good ones!) That is one that will have you feeling good for days to come! Congratulations on running your first 5K! That alone is huge, but having your teenage son say he is proud of you....PRICELESS!! -
I am 37, six months ago, I was 5'6" and weighed 373 pounds. My son has ran cross country for the last 2 years. I have been lucky to be able to watch him start, then take the parent shortcut to the finish line in time to see him finish. It has always bothered me that I couldn't help him train in any way. Today, I am still 5'6", but am now down to 270. This morning, my son and I participated in a 5k. Yes, he had to wait for me at this finish line, but I crossed it at 49:30' still able to sprint the last 40 yards. And I did not puke, pass out, or die. My 14 year old son, told me that he was proud of me today. I have had many nsv's, but none of them made me feel as good as this one. Worth it all, everyday and twice on Sunday. Much love O

That's terrific! My NSV this week was being able to tie my shoes without worrying that I had roughly 30 seconds before I passed out. Yay me!

It happened yesterday as I was leaving the house, my 7 yr old granddaughter said, "Wow Nana! You're getting skinny!". I stopped dead in my tracks and was speechless. I, think I went into shock! Well, I finally said thank you, with a smile. I confess, I wanted to cry! Although, my clothes are getting really loose and I've seen some physical changes, some part of me is not seeing or accepting! But, babygirl's compliment broke through and hit home! Yeah me!!! So glad, I started taking care of me and got my sleeve!!! This is only the beginning:)

I hit the 9 month mark last week and a friend sent me a picture she took of me after our morning run. It was so weird...I kept looking at the picture, thinking, "I almost look normal!!!" This journey has been so amazing!! It hasn't been easy but it's been totally worth it!!! For more than 10 years I pondered the idea of WLS. I told myself over and over again that I "should be able to take the weight off on my own". I was one of those people that thought having surgery would be a cop out. I could not have been more wrong!! The initial stages of post op were torturous for me. I remember feeling like I was going crazy at about the 3 week mark. I just wanted to chew something and I wanted to kill my family!! LOL!! I had to mourn my love affair with food...probably the hardest thing ever. Now that I'm past all that, I am here to say that my life is 1000 times improved and the NSV's are endless!! I can fit into a booth at any restaurant now!! I've stopped snoring and no longer have to wear a mouth guard in order for my partner to sleep!! I've completed a triathlon and am doing 2 more in the next 3 weeks!! My plantar faciitis is gone!! I can walk up a flight of stairs and I like it!! Shopping for clothes is fun again!! But the biggest NSV is that I finally feel like I have a "normal" relationship with food!! It no longer controls my life...I no longer live to eat, I eat to live. So, here are my pics. The first one is from a cruise I went on in Nov 2010...I was at my heaviest weight and I was so uncomfortable!! In November of this year I'll be going on another cruise and I'll be exactly 1 year post op. I'm looking forward to taking the same picture!!

Inspiring Others
traceyinflorida replied to Go Kart Mozart's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ryan, that's awesome! I've seen a lot of posts on the forum that people do not want to tell anyone they have had the surgery. Perhaps that changes once they reach goal or come close and no longer worry about anyone's judgement. Personally, I am pretty much an open book about it if someone asks. One of my friends was an inspiration to me and I hope someday to be an inspiration to someone else. I think it is just wonderful that you were able to help change three people's lives for the better! That's a GREAT NSV! -
Thanks for all the well wishes. I have a funny story. I was talking to a former co-worker who just had lunch with a guy I still work with. He said to her, during the lunch, that I was looking really good!! LOL. All the women I work with have made comments, but none of the men, but it's nice to know they notice!! LOL I am so concerned that I wont' be Able to keep up with my exercise with this new job. But I'm not going to stress, I"m just going to make it a priority and get it done however. I just tried out a zumba class during work- luckily when I switch offices there's a y really close, much closer than the one I went to today. I'm kind of lame duck right now so don't mind going longer for lunch . Meredith- good vibes on the job interview! I know how nerve wracking they are. Let us know how it turns out. Chrissy- that's a great NSV! You'll kick that plateau, the marathon not a sprint concept, LOL. NJ2NC- just tell them you're watching what you eat. They don't have to know about the lapband, just know you're not going to be "consuming mass quantities" (isn't that from the coneheads?? LOL) Kymie- good for you for kicking those lbs to the curb! Good for all of us, hanging in there and making it work. I feel so much better not being heavier than I was at the beginning of the year!!! Nicki

Meredith and Nicki: Congrats on some great interviews and to the new job for Nicki (and I'm putting it out there in the universe for Meredith too!). A little confidence can go a LONG way! Kymie: I'm on a plateau as well...haven't been exercising like I used to. I do have a free week's trial at the fitness center that is located in the same building as my doctor's office, so I'm looking forward to trying that out. Like Meredith, I'm just glad I haven't gained more and I keep reminding myself how far I've come in such a short time. I'm so thankful for the friendships and encouragement we have for each other on this board!! NJ2NC: have a safe and fun trip. You will do fine with the MIL's meals! And congrats on Onederland!! yay! I have a check-up on Monday, so we'll see how that goes. Here's an NSV for you....I actually had someone tell me this morning that I looked like I didn't need to lose anymore weight! Wow! wonder what she's gonna think when I hit that primary goal of 100 pounds gone?? LOL. Everyone have a blessed day!!

You ladies inspire me. I look forward to my own NSVs. -
Last night I had a meeting for my son's high school football team. I had not seen many of my friends from football since before the summer. It's only been 10 weeks since my surgery, but I got so many compliments on how great I looked. I have not felt pretty in YEARS! Last night I felt like Miss America! I also felt confident and happy. I am amazed at the psychological change losing weight brings on. For those of you experiencing stalls early out and stressing over them.... I have had two so far (am currently in one now) that have lasted a few weeks. Trust me when I tell you, your body is still changing for the good!

Week 20 (5 Months Post Op)
Izuri commented on mrsteacher's blog entry in Sleeved by Dr. Kelly in Mexico
You are kicking butt! And sooo close to onederland - I bet you will reach it next week, maybe even be below just hitting it. You should check Groupon, I know that the power house gym in my area is having a good sale on there for a few months of gym time. Maybe there are some in your area too? Congrats on the NSV! Sounds like a lot of people are noticing. -
My NSV was when my boss pulled me aside and told me to go exchange my work shirts for some that fit:)
-
Yea for NSV's!

Wear scrubs at work, and have been wearing a 3x for a crazy amount of time. I've been downsizing the top to 2x for about a month. Decided this morning to give the 2x bottoms a try since I'm constantly pulling up the bigger ones. They FIT! Not tight, either. The scale isn't changing much, but my clothes definitely fit better

Today i went for my 3rd fill. My dr told me and i agree i am not tight enough. I hope this breaks the barly losing cycle i have been on. I also think that cause i am so scared of being to tight and being so far from my dr that I play it safe on the fills. This time we put in almost a cc. He said he felt this would start things moving. On another note I went to a scrub shop today and tried on new scrubs. I bought one pair of xl pants and top and tried on some more. I was able to get the XL on in all brands but they was a little tight still .. but wont be long till i will need those. The xxl i have are now all very lose. It has been a long time since i work XL scrubs so i am excited by it.
