Yesterday I bought my very first pair of womens athletic shorts. They are an XL, this is nothing short of a miracle considering I was a 3x bottom a month ago. I also got a pair of compression pants too. I usually get men's reebok or nike athletic shorts from Sam's Club. They have them for about 15 dollars a pair. Which is way better than paying full price for them. Just wanted to share my exciting moment.

One of my favorite places in the whole world is Keeneland racecourse. I haven't been able to go to the races in years. It has been hard, especially since I moved to central Kentucky four years ago, to be so close and yet know I couldn't navigate the seats, walking, stairs, distance from bathrooms, etc. I was able to go to opening day on Friday! It was a beautiful day and I was able to fit in the reserved seats, had no trouble making it to the bathrooms and was able to walk a good bit (even though I used the handicap shuttle to get back to the car ---- I am not on that good of physical shape, yet). I am even planning to try to go back again during this meet. By the way, I had burgoo for lunch.

Am I the only one who loves purging my closet? I filled 3 large garbage bags today with all my size 14 & 16 pants, all my XL tops and a good portion of my size L tops, several dresses and a bunch of shoes that are now too big. All donated to a women’s shelter. Started a new bag for my 12’s and the rest of my L tops as I move out of those in to 10’s and M’s. Feels so good!

May Sleevers! 3+ months out....How is everyone doing?
MzB posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi May Sleevers I thought by now everyone sleeved in May would probably have settled into a bit more of a routine or at least gotten past some of the initial surgery questions. I imagine some of us have some great NSV's as well as some challenges. Soo.....I thought I would send up a general question to get a discussion started. I would love to hear how everyone else is doing. I am going to post my progress/thoughts below. -

Now, I am no where close to goal and I still have a long way to go but this morning one of my co-workers came in and said to me "Wow you look really fit! How much weight have you lost" How awesome is that I have NEVER been told I look FIT!!!!

Nsv- Walked Out Of My Wide Clarks..lol
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, I was never a wide until the last couple years as I gained weight. Looking forward to nice high shaft boots- although doing ballet as a child my calves are still over developed so it would be amazing to wear tall boots. We shall see. I'm grateful today. Things get better all the time! -
So you know the subway benches and how the end seats are usually more spacious and you can't fit in the middle seats if you are heavier well just who fits comfortably in the middle seats... this girl

I've noticed this also! I never used to have trouble but now if I sit a certain way my tail bone begins to hurt. I've started to put a little pillow behind my back and I've started watching how I sit. In a way it's sort of a NSV...your new boney butt! -

Went for my 3 mo. post op on Friday, saw a PA I had not met before. He looked around the room and asked where the bariatric patient was. That it couldn't be me, because I was svelte. SVELTE. My new favorite word!

NSV = non-scale victory. -
I usually work from home so don't see people face to face too often. I think it has been a month since I was in, but I have lost about 10# since and more importantly I have been doing high intensity interval training. I have been doing boot camp, spinning - just stuff that really does body toning. I went in today wearing my size 10 dress and I could not help but notice what a defined waist I had! This dress is fairly conservative - long sleeves and high neckline but very modern and close fitting and short. I wore it with black tights and ankle boots. I went into my bosses office to show off as she is very supportive. I took off the long sweater and she gave me all the wowsa type remarks. I went to put my sweater back on and she said "You leave that sweater off! With a body like that, you gotta flaunt it!" So, at first I was kinda self conscious, but I relaxed into it as everyone complimented me - I proudly wore that cute dress, not covered up, all day long!!! I had a couple of people not recognize me today - although those people I haven't seen in 6 months or more. It was funny to have to show people my badge to remind them who I was...lol Anyway, I was feeling great today!

Wow, most of my fall/winter clothes are too loose to wear! So almost 2/3 will be heading for donation. Looks like I will be going to the resale shop soon. Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App

It's such an amazing feeling the first time you fly after! I never needed an extender, but would be anxious about it each time. The tray table, the extra slack on the belt, being able to bend over to get things out of your bag, it's all amazing. Seriously the best NSV feeling in the world!!

Ok. . So I sat down in a big comfy chair at work today and crossed my legs as if I just do it all the time. I didn't even realize it at first. Then I was shocked and we all got a good laugh a my shock. When I got home I showed my family how I can cross my legs! They looked at me like I am completely crazy, but were happy I was happy lol

New NSV and Best friend- future workout partner
Elode posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hi all! I was at one of our clinic today where we have a new employee. One of the nurses there has decided to have WLS since seeing my success. We were talking about it since her surgery is next Tuesday and the new girl started asking me about mine. I told her I was 267 last year and now I'm 145. She says "wow I didn't not think you weighed that!" I was stuffing a rollo in my mouth at the time and started to spit it out. I said oh, what I look like I weigh more huh? She says no way! You look so small! I never would have guessed you were ever big! That made my day!! Next, I got this new guy in my life! He's my future jogging partner once the weather warms up. I'm gonna do it this time. I'm kind of in love! Hope everyone is doing well -
I had the best NSV yesterday. I was trying on coats at a department store. I tried on the blue one and went for a black one. This tiny little women then asks me if the blue jacket is a medium, because that's what she's looking for. I can't believe that anyone thought I might be trying on a MEDIUM. Granted the coat I was trying on was a Large, but, you know just last year it was a 1x and 2 years ago it was a mighty tight 3x. Who knows maybe I will be a medium soon! I love my band. Cindy

WOW!!! And CONGRATS!!! I know and understand what a GREAT feeling it is to be in AWE when you realize that you and your daughter are wearing the same size. At the beginning of this school year, when my daughter and I were out shopping, we stopped at the Guess store to buy new jeans. We ended up buying the exact same jeans, at the exact same size; the only difference that mine are regular length and hers are short. I was in ABSOLUTE disbelief. Anyway, congrats on your AMAZING NSV!!!

Finally Hit My 3 Week Stall And An Nsv!
Lilee84 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At almost 7 weeks I finally hit my 3 week stall! Am I concerned about it? Nope! Because I know that it's normal and temporary and that this is my body's way of catching up with my almost 40lb loss! So while the scale may not be moving, my pants are starting to REALLY sag. That sounds like a kick-ass NSV to me! -

Those are Great NSV's... -
@@BigReid21 - that's hard to say, stalls vary in length of time. stay focused and it will pass and be prepared for the next stall. they happen. if you haven't measured yourself, do it now. you may be losing inches when the scale isn't moving- NSV!

I went to the store this weekend to buy all my 'outside' aisle things (that's my new goal - to only shop on the outside isles, dairy/eggs, veggies and meat). The cute little devils outside were selling my FAVORITE girl scout cookies. I didn't think it was fair for my husband who has NO struggles with weight to have to pay the price for my dieting ways (he's helping out so much already) so I bought him some Thin Mints and Tagalongs (both which I could do without). It took me a good 10 seconds to win the internal battle to NOT buy some Samoas (mind: "I can eat a couple and the kids can have the rest") but I DIDN'T buy them. I knew going in this would be one of my major pitfalls - I had already allowed myself to splurge on these but when the time came...I resisted! I'm so proud of myself. Next test...MiniEggs!
