  1. So I am only 11 days post op but have had 2 great things happen today. I put on a pair of shorts that haven't fit in over a year and they are perfect! And I bent over and tied my shoe in the middle and didn't have to pull my foot up to my knee to do it!! And my scale victory is that I am down 24 pounds!!!

    My Little Piece of Heaven

That's a great NSV! I can especially related as I can wear pantyhose now and my thighs no longer rub together. I hated the rash I would get at the end of the day or evening from the friction...and let's not forget the sweating getting in and out of the pantyhose as well. These days it's no big deal anymore and going to the ladies room is just a quick pull them down and pull them back up. The little things are so so so important.
  3. I lost my original journal. So here I am starting anew.. Highest weight before surgery 287 Current weight 220. I could have lost more but I'm fighting my demons. My weakness is cookies and chips. During a meal I will favor protein and veggies. So it does keep me from gaining. Still watching my sugar intake. I find if I wait too long to eat, hunger makes my meal decisions. Last night I ate too fast and wound up eating too fast-then getting sick, and then filling up on chips. My bad habits are lurking right around the corner. Whatever I decide to eat, I set a timer on my smart watch for 30 min before I allow myself liquid. Like I said l, no gain. But not a single piund list in Feb. Gave up dairy this week and lost 2 lbs. Finally honest with myself that Im lactose intolerant. A few NSV: I can run up a flight of stairs. I'm outgrowing size 16 pants. I took my son to a bday party and was not self conscious and was somewhat social. My overall mood is good. Still happy amd proud of myself. :-D

    first of many NSV

Nice NSV! I can't wait until I can zip up one of my older leather jackets.
  5. 1. I didn't over eat at dinner ( even though it was so good) 2 I worked out today (first time since surgery) 3. And when I put on my workout shorts, they slid on AND there wasn't any thigh fat poking out around the seam! OMG...Yeah. I just had to share.
  6. @@Bandista No more looking like Darth Vader in bed !!! Big NSV .I hope you are sleeping and breathing better now.
  7. PhotoNut

    DR APPTS - NSV's

 I had doctor appointment hell yesterday - and it was the best day!!! My first appointment was my yearly female exam :omg: - I absolutely love my doctor!! She always walks in the room and gives me a great big hug and we don't stop talking until she leaves the room. BUT this time she walked in and stopped. She just stared at me and I believe couldn't believe her eyes!!!! This is the first time in a long long time that she didn't have to break into that " We need to talk about your weight" talk. Then she looked back in my file and confirmed what I already knew - I hadn't been this weight FOREVER!!! I actually enjoyed going to the doctor. It is great when the doctor (or people in general) do notice the weight loss change BUT also the emotional change in you. She said I was just soooo full of life where in the past I always was upbeat but had some saddness in me. (true very true). In between appts, I had lunch with an old co-worker. When I stopped to pick her up, my old boss (a much younger man) came up to me and hugged me and told me he couldn't get over how good I looked. ANd my lunch date just stared at me from across the table - and said she couldn't get over the change in my face. (ok and the rest of me too but my face tells the story) So, my last appointment was with my general doctor ( I haven't seen her since my pre-surgery physical). I wanted her to re-think my blood pressure meds. I haven't taken them since my surgery due to being sooooo sick. Once I felt better, I decided NOT to take them so my DR. could get a real me reading. She stopped at the door and just shook her head (I am begining to cry as she walks into the room). She asked why I was :think crying. I told her I couldn't begin to thank her for recommending the lap band to me. I feel awesome - have energy again - my favorite hobby is no longer sitting on my big butt!! I just feel so full of life!! She agreed she noticed a drastic change weight wise but also she is glad to see the real "ME" again. OK to finish off my long winded story...... My new meds have been CUT in half!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I need to go back in 2 months to see how they react with me. Our goal is once I reach goal - maybe no more blood pressure meds. I even got a high-five from my pharmacist. Thanks for letting me share in my NSVs!!! I am just bursting at the seams inside (and finally not the seams in my pants!!! ) Tracy

    WEIGHT LOSS AND NSV!!!!

Weigh-in last night and this past week I've lost 6 POUNDS!!! Total weight loss 38lbs!!! About a month ago I said I wanted to lose 13lbs by Mother's Day Weekend and a couple weeks ago I had given up hope because I hadn't lost any weight. Low and behold I've lost 11lbs in 2 weeks and now I am 2lbs away from that goal. I think I am going to make it!!! NSV-I went jogging last night and as I was putting on my fanny pack, it wouldn't fit so I adjusted the straps as much as I could til I finally had to take the extender off. I have never worn that fanny pack without the extender and I don't need it anymore!!! It makes me feel like I'm practically a normal size person. I know it sounds silly, but I am proud!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

  12. I went shopping today for a skirt. Bought 3. I got to the register and one of the price tags were missing. The cashier said she had to get another one and showed me. She said not to worry cause it was a regular not a plus size. Cause as she pointed out to me plus sizes cost more(duh). She was explaining it to me like i wouldn't know and never bought plus size. Amazing Wendy

    1st goal met

Hey lady, CONGRATULATIONS!! That's one of those non-scale victories (NSVs) we love! Now, where are you actually going to wear those leather pants to, hmmm? Just a few weeks ago I posted about my first NSV, which were a couple of pairs of jeans that have not fit me since before my first pregnancy six years ago. Well, now both of these jeans are TOO BIG! I've had to replace them with new ones two sizes smaller. Cool!! So let me remind everyone to keep checking your closets--you don't want to discover that outfit you've been saving for a special occasion is now hanging off you. There's gold in them thar closets!
  15. Disney Nut, that is fantastic, what a huge NSV. We're a big Disney family, too, but in California...my daughter actually works at one of the parks. I don't go as often as I did when the kids were younger, but I did go last week...and boy, were my feet, ankles and knees KILLING me after the day was done (i'm still pre-op). Can't WAIT to be in your shoes, YAY for you :-)

    Back to work today

I go back tomorrow took a week and a day off. Congrats!!!! So happy for the first of many NSVs!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Today is my first day back at work. I was sleeved Monday so was off work for 6 days. Feeling good and glad to be back. I put on my work clothes and had my first NSV. I was able to button the top button on my dress shirt. Normally I just use my tie to hold my shirt closed but today the button gets to do its own job. That was exciting! Looking forward to lots more of these discoveries.

    Nsv Moment

That's an NSV! CONGRATS and keep workin that Sleeve!
  20. I got dressed for work today and realized that my belt, even on the tightest hole, was still too big. I went to the shoemaker during lunch hour and had him put two more holes into the belt, so it should last me a little while longer. The lady who owns the shop was really cute -- she didn't charge me and told me that if I gained weight, then she would charge me. What a great feeling! Of course, I could have gone out and bought a new belt, but I think I enjoyed adding the holes to this one even more. Especially, since it wasn't that long ago that the belt was just barely fitting me on the loosest hole and I was just about ready to move up to the next size. I truly do believe I've been given a second chance at making my life work for me. All the best to all of you out there. Brian
  21. The Candidate

My husband told me I don't snore anymore!

    That's a definite NSV. Congrats!
  22. Yesterday, I went back for my six month visit to the biomedical research facility that is conducting a long term study on patients having lap band surgery. (Participating in the study is how I had my surgery and all follow up fills done for free.) My first NSV is that I lost seven inches around my waist. My second NSV is that my BP was 110/72. My third NSV was when I stopped on the way home to Dress Barn. I immediately walked in the store and turned to the left for the "Women's" sizes. A sales clerk approached me to ask if she could assist me. I said "No, I'm just looking around." She asked if I was shopping for myself or someone else. I responded, "For myself." She responded, "Mam, you should be shopping in the other half of the store, the "Misses" Department. Guess what? She was right! I fit in size LARGE. LARGE never felt so SMALL. My final NSV happened as I walked into the gym. Approaching the door was an old acquaintance. I greeted him and told him hello, but I could tell, he just politely responded back, but didn't try to make conversation. Halfway through my workout, he approached me and said he hadn't even recognized that it was even ME, since I lost so much work..... The OLD ME was unrecognizable!!!! Not a bad day!

    NSV!

You look awesome! Congrats! Now, would someone please yell me what "NSV" is without laughing at me :/
  24. 70 LBS DOWN TODAY!!!! Boooooooooom! Victory is SWEET! I have some setbacks: -Ate some CRAP sugary food over the last 3 weeks. Stalled my A$$ off! -Stopped killing it at the gym due to a Derby Injury NSV's: I bought several XL things including an adorable dress & they all FIT AWESOMELY! That is regular ladies XL, not 1X.... just to clarify (& gloat) I bought a size 12 REGULAR WIDTH strappy ridiculous heels that SCREAM Vegas (will be there in one month!) I was up to a 13W before surgery. I am currently wearing a tank top from the JUNIORS section. it has a multi-color zebra pattern & I think I'm going to wear it to the gym later! I can sit in the school chairs that have arms on them now. I can walk up to the third floor apartment of a friend of mine & I can still breathe!! My collarbones exist... and they are LOVELY! So, pretty damn good if you ask me. I have many more victories than setbacks & I start regular practices with the Charlotte Rollergirls Derby team IN ONE WEEK EXACTLY! L-O-V-I-N-G my new life~ ALSO.... CHECK OUT MY VIDEO BLOG ON YOUTUBE. More about my derby adventures there. Link is in my signature. I would love your feedback!!!!
