    the stall won’t last .. it’s natural especially at the three week mark.. your body is adjusting and needs some time for the scale to reflect.. eat healthy, check your macronutrient count and the scale will move again … if in doubt you can also add different exercise to get things going

  3. stalls happen!!! i am 27 days out and in a stall …. but i have to be burning fat at less than 1000 calories a day all you can do is make healthy choices; stick with your program; make sure you are not eating too much or to little and trust your body is changing even if the scale isn’t … take some measurements and pics and compare for changes that the scale doesn’t show

    stalls are common. Just keep following your program. If more than a month or six weeks go by with no weight loss, you can always lose more by cutting calories - if you're willing to do that. You and your body may or may not be comfortable eating less than 1000 calories a day, and that's fine. weight loss does slow down a lot the closer you get to a normal BMI. I'm trying to lose 10 lbs now, but it's REALLY hard. But then, there are only so many calories I can cut (about 200 is all). When I weighed over 300 lbs, I could cut 1000 calories a day and lose weight pretty quickly. Right now, it takes about 1600 calories for me to maintain my current weight. If I cut 1000 calories NOW, I'd only be eating 600 calories/day. That is not sustainable. Even cutting 200 cal/day is challenging, but at least it's do-able. But that also means that my weight loss is going to be very slow....only 2-3 lbs a month. as far as losing too much weight, you can always increase your calories a bit to stop the loss. So unless there's some medical problem that's causing the weight loss, you have control over whether you stop the loss or keep losing.

    November 2022 surgery support!

    Had my 1 week post op appointment, everything went well. I have been doing good with my fluid almost at 55oz and I'm taking in about 40g of protein. Pain is small on that incision and only when I do certain movements. I'm cleared to start pureed on Monday.

    Energy post-surgery

    My first probably 4 weeks I was super low energy, frustrated and losing my mind. Lol But after that hump, I was feeling much better physically and emotionally. It took about 8 weeks for me to feel like I had all my energy back.
  8. Hello I had my surgery 12 weeks ago. My bmi was 33 My starting weight was 200 pounds/90 kilo In 12 weeks I lost 50 pounds I know its allot. I count my calories I eat 1000 calories per a day I do 30 minutes Stationary bike 6 Times a week I would like to loose 20 more pounds. I hit a stoll this week. Will I get to loose my 20 pound in this next few month? My friend is worried that I will not be able to stop the weight loss. I think the body knows when to stop. I am worried That my stoll will last forever.. I did the surgery out of my country therefore I can't contact my doctor.

    Struggling with diarrhea

    Oh man, sorry for all of your hiccups! I am glad they are getting your fixed up and I hope you feel better soon. As far as the diarrhea, I had it bad for a week or so after surgery also. As soon as I drank or "ate" anything but water I would be in the bathroom within minutes. It did pass and now I am more regular than ever. I wish you the best!

    I have hit a Plateau...

    My first stall happened at 2 weeks post op. It lasted for 2.5 weeks. Finally, about 4 days ago, the scale started to move again. But, my ring started falling off and I was starting to see the weight loss in my face and feel it in my clothes. So, even though the scale wasn't moving, I was losing inches. Stay the course. Be patient. If you're making yourself crazy, stay off the scale.

  14. UGH I am in a stall, too! I am so bummed because I finally got back into the 160s, for the first time since 2016...then nothing lost in two weeks. But I am trying to stay optimistic and sticking to the program. What's funny is I decided to search for "stall" here on these board, thinking I would pull up a few dozen threads. No, there were 17,501 results. That made me feel a little better!

    Definition of "stall" varies pretty widely, but generally 3+ weeks with no loss is a stall. So if you haven't seen the scale move in a few days, that's really not a stall at all, especially so early out when you are still very much healing from surgery. And in fact, many surgeons and dietitians HIGHLY recommend not weighing daily, as your weight absolutely WILL fluctuate from day to day. And, as others have said, the 3 week "stall" is pretty notorious. Stick to your plan, consider weighing once a week instead of daily, and just give it time.

    that's actually really late for your first plateau - most people have their first one about three weeks after surgery! But like the others said, do nothing. Just stick to your plan and stay off the scale for a few days. Stalls usually last 1-3 weeks. If you stick to your plan, it'll break and you'll be on your way again. And like sillykitty said, this won't be your last one.

    First 4-5 days were rest & recuperation time for me. But by the 2nd week I felt a lot better and even cut my yard (although my Sugeon didn't want to hear that). My 3rd week I am still a little tired but able to carry out my daily activities with no problem including washing my cars. Not quite ready to run a marathon but as my metabolism adjusts, my energy seems to be increasing.

    it took about two months before my energy had COMPLETELY returned, but of course, it does get better and better every day. Most people are back at work after about two weeks. I didn't have trouble working (I had a desk job) - although I got pretty tired in the afternoons the first few weeks. It didn't keep me from performing, though.

    I found B12 supplements were critical a couple months post op. First I got them from my WLS surgeon during follow ups. Then I switched to sublingual pills once a week

    August surgery buddies!

    Yep! This is totally me too. I'll stall and then drop. My surgery team says not only is this normal but very healthy for our bodies. It gives it time to adjust and catch up. So I am not worrying about these little stalls anymore and know that slow and steady is WINNING the race! One thing I have added to my week are green smoothies with a really good veggie powder. There's no possible way I could eat all the veggies I need to meet nutrient requirements, so a good veggie powder in my smoothie has helped me a lot. I try to eat a salad at lunchtime with oil and balsamic vinegar. Another thing I have been doing is 18:6 intermittent fasting to help keep insulin spikes down. I try to get all my eating done within the six-hour window, and I'm finding I'm not hungry and doing really well on it. Fasting is also very good for helping loose skin through autophagy, I recently got Covid and that hasn't been helpful, but it makes you less hungry for a few days. 🤣

    I was tired the 1st few weeks but that is to be expected after what my body just went through plus not eating very much those weeks too. But after my body adjusted to all of it I had more energy then I knew what to do with! Everyone is gonna be different & don’t NOT get the surgery because of what anyone says. Just make sure to follow your Drs instructions, you will find those very a lot too!

    November GBP Patients!

    Sounds good. Everyone will be different as there are a lot of contributing factors such as age, male or female, starting weight, etc. I just hit my 3 week post-op date and have lost only 14 lbs since my surgery, but am happy with the progress. I only weigh myself once a week and realistically am looking at not reaching my goal weight until November of next year. Slow & steady is OK with me as long as it's permanent this time. Remember, your weight loss will not be linear, but a step down with some steps longer & others bigger. You are doing good, keep it up!
