In 2004 I had back surgery for herniated and ruptured disk, as well as a spinal bone spur. The surgery helped but I struggled to lose the weight needed to really get the benefits of the surgery. One of the things I noticed after surgery was that when I would lay in bed on my right side, often I would feel pain. It felt as if my lower spine was in a "V" shape. I would have to change positions quickly or the pain would become really bad. It was the weight of my stomach pulling on my back. Since lapband surgery and weight loss I hadn't even given it a thought, but this morning I noticed that the pain was gone and that my back felt ... normal. For me, this is a really big NSV. Anyone else with back problems notice a difference? ~Fran

I just want to know how you're doing 4 months out! Hw?cw?gw? What do you do now that you couldn't before? NSV? Have you set any dates to reach goals? Do you have any events your looking forward to? How are you doing on your new lifestyle("diets") But more importantly how do you feel? Just want to know how your doing=) 4 months out I feel great. I'm struggling through some hardcore hair loss but my hair seems to be up 24/7 now so I try to ignore it. HW259 CW201 GW1 160 GW2 140 I now can cross my legs! Lol My NSV is I fit in a size 14 jeans. Pre op the only jeans I had were a size 18 and those were getting tight so I lived in leggings I was to try to be by goal 1 by june. Because I decided to become a zumba instructor and my certification is June 5 (3 days after my birthday!!!) My diet is a constint struggle. I work at a bakery which has caused me to rethink my career choice and focuse on myself. But it's hard now. I feel great. It's crazy to think I use to carry so much excess weight before no wonder I was miserable.

I'm pre-surgery - just got my date of 12/31/19 - but so far on my pre-op diet I've lost almost 35 lbs. However, I'm pretty tall and carry my weight fairly evenly so that hasn't resulted in much change in clothing size until just this last week. I have a large plastic storage bin I've been putting my too small clothes in because I was planning on losing weight. I went through it today and more than half of them fit My closet suddenly got much fuller - yay!

You look great. Keep up the good work. I have had my husband hide the scale on me as I have entered week #3 of my first plateau and I was obsessed with the scale. He told me it was gone for a week so I didn't get frustrated and turn to food. Keep focused on your NSV and you will do great. -
i know there is a place for this but what is nsv? Oh and bitter, I have a pair of boots I bought last year I am WAITING to zip they are knee highs! congrats on the new milestone.

NSV is non scale victory! And the pouch test is what some people try if they are in a stall or to get back on track. You go back to all liquids and move on quickly from there.
-
While reading some of the posts I have read that people have tried the five day pouch test. What are they talking about? Also what is NSV, I think those were the abbreviations, the topic would be about NSV on such and such date.

fantastic NSV and yes these are the things and motivate us

The NSVs keep me going especially when the scale isn't moving. As LilMissDiva says, I don't wear a scale around my neck! People see the clothes you wear, not the number on the scale!!

Great NSV! My rings were an important one for me. I love my wedding rings as much today as I did 25 years ago when I first picked them out. They are just so pretty. As I packed on weight over the years I had them sized up (about 10 years after I got married). Then I continued to put on weight and they were too small again, so I stopped wearing them . I refused to make them bigger again. After some weight came off with help from the band, I could wear them again and was so happy with this milestone/NSV! But now they are too big and I am back to not wearing them .

Today after a great therapy session, I got up and left. Halfway out the door I stopped dead. I realized that for the first time EVER I was able go get up and walk away without having to pull up my pants from rolling under my belly. Very good feeling.

Sounds like you are doing fantastically well and are living your best life, which is all any of us really want when we have WLS. Huge congrats to you! By FAR my biggest NSV was completing a full marathon in September. Me! An obese person who never even ran a mile straight in her whole life until into her 30's! I ran 26.2 miles! You guys, can you even wrap your brains around that? -
YEAH!!. yes the simple things like crossing your legs. the ability to sit in a plane seat without asking for a seat belt extender. Hope you enjoyed your date. More NSVs coming your way

I fit comfortably in the booth at IHOP last night! Plenty of room- hallelujah! We haven't been there and sat in a booth for quite a few months, but wow, what a difference! BTW, I had the steak tips dinner and they let me subsitute the corn and mashed potatoes for a double portion of steamed broccoli. It came with a piece of garlic bread (which I ate half of) and a side salad with honey mustard dressing (which I ate a few bites of). I have leftovers for lunch for the next couple of days now. Loving my sleeve! -Kendra

Went to Anne Taylor yesterday and bought a size 10 and size 8 in two zip up dresses! I literally could not believe it, I have NEVER been able to wear a dress with a zipper, and now I can fit into 10s and 8s! 96 pounds down, feeling AMAZING

Another NSV I thought of today. I haven't asked my husband to rub my feet, or my back since about 3 weeks after surgery! They don't hurt anymore! 28 lbs down & 6 weeks post op tomorrow. Don't get me wrong, my back may hurt a little during the day, but not like it did before, and my feet certainly don't hurt like they used to!

I spent 10 days in Vegas, and my sleeve saved me from the endless buffets and treats! LOVE my new skinny stomach! It saved me from myself. So glad I did this surgery, definitely appreciated my new tool! <3 Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App

1. I didn't over eat at dinner ( even though it was so good) 2 I worked out today (first time since surgery) 3. And when I put on my workout shorts, they slid on AND there wasn't any thigh fat poking out around the seam! OMG...Yeah. I just had to share.
