    Just need some encouragement

I am 8 months post op and also hit that dreaded 3 week stall. I also tend to go up and down thru the month so don't worry it's just your body adjusting. As long as you follow your plan to the letter dont worry. I have lost 7-9 lbs a month from 2nd month. Sent from my SM-G930T using the BariatricPal App

    Not losing weight

Read up on the 3 week stall. It happens to everyone!! Embrace the stall! Don't worry.. it will pass
  4. Ended at 210.8. Met goal early, then stayed there (in the midst of the dreaded 3 week stall). Still happy with progress! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. The time has gone by so fast. I can't believe I had the sleeve 2 years ago today. I had a lower BMI so I had to pay for it myself using my HSA in the US. I had been a yoyo dieter for years. I always loved to workout and would lose the 50 lbs but then I'd always be hangry and get tired of logging my food etc and eventually gain the weight back. I am so happy I decided to make this lifestyle change. It's not an easy way out. I still eat 5 small meals a day focusing on Protein, drink my Water, take my Vitamins, and workout 6x a week. I weigh myself 2-3x a week and focus on staying within a 3-4 lb range. When it creeps up I cut out the carbs and go back to the basics. This Group has been so Wonderful over the last two years. I have learned so much. The 3 week stall, my favorite Protein Bars, favorite shakes, etc. I also learned that even at 2 years out I make mistakes. Sometimes I will over eat and feel miserable for about an hour or not drink enough water and get a headache. Don't beat yourself up but also never give up! You will gain confidence and courage. Here's me on my trike before surgery and then this summer rocking 2 wheels. If you ever have questions I am happy to help. ~LA

    Weight loss

My team told me to stay off of the scale at least until my first follow-up appointment (one week after surgery). I did as they said, and everything has worked out. I had a nice loss in the first month, even with the "3 week stall" that lasted about half of that time. Nothing is going to be accurate at first. Even at one-month post-op, I wonder if it is completely accurate. Healing takes time and that makes the scale go crazy sometimes. Good luck!
  8. I just had my surgery on Oct 5th, but I was was around 37 BMI on the day of surgery. I lost about 30 lbs from the start of my pre op diet until 2 week post op. I've been in the infamous 3 week stall since then (16 days).
  9. Hello everyone. I'm a month post op and need some info/help. I have read many posts about the 3 week stalls and stalling in general, but I'm getting very defeated. My first week I lost 18lbs, now only an additional 3.5. Hit a stall week 2 for a week and a half. I asked my Dr what calorie intake I should be following, was advised don't worry about it and focus on 100 grams protein and 40-60 Oz water. Been hitting the goal every day, but mostly with shakes. Wondering if the issue is I'm not consuming enough calories? I would appreciate any help/input. My Dr's office is not very informative besides saying to follow my book (paperwork) which I have been. Thank you!!

    Frustrated and Discouraged

I had my bypass surgery 9/19 also and going through the same thing. I read about the 3 week stall, but hoped it wouldn't happen to me it's been 2 weeks without any loss. I haven't read anything on how long it usually lasts. I'm hoping it will be over soon and I can get back on track. I am trying different things to jump start the weight loss. I have made a conscious effort to increase calories and this weekend I tried increasing carbs (from 20 grams to 30). Who knows how to get it to kick in again other then patience... which I have never been good at Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Please search for 3 week stall. you will likely find thousands of posts. It is very common and you will likely have many more, it is your body simply taking a break from all the weight loss. Incidentally there are many points of view as to what a stall is. 5 days with no loss does not mean that you are stalled. Usually it is a couple of weeks before you can call it a real plateau. Some people stay off the scale if this bothers them. I personally was a daily weigher during the weight loss phase but i had to train myself not to get upset when i did not lose weight every day. The reality is, for the first 2 months you likely will lose alot and then after that it tapers off to a more reasonable pace. I think i averaged between 7 - 10 lbs per month. It took 18 months to lose 152lbs and the last 30 took more than 6 months alone. Be patient....it will come off.

    Help!

@@kyboo1972 Go you! Congratulations on your pre-op weight loss. It will serve you SO WELL going forward. (And when you hit that inevitable "3 week stall" -- and it will happen; I'm in the middle of it right now -- it is so comforting when you've lost 120 pounds and not just 20 pounds!)

    6 days post op

@@anewdayforme you have such a great outlook and perspective, you will do great! Glad to hear you are feeling well and it sounds like ready to go back to work on Monday. In my experience, when I got to solids the loss slows, plus you will probably hit the infamous 3-week stall, unfortunately. If you haven't read about it, search the BP site as it seems most of us have it, and no reason for concern. Best of luck! Today is my 1.5 year surgiversary and I still have much to go, but my unsolicited advice to you is trust the process, focus on the what you can control (what you do and think) and don't focus on the outcome. This isn't a race but a lifestyle.
  17. You're still healing.. Give yourself a break!! You just started the 3 week stall a bit early. Don't worry about it. It will break. Just stay on plan.

Would it be mean to just tell them to use the search feature? Especially when they just get the surgery and ask basic questions and you know darn well they are going to next post about the 3 week stall etc? Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Bottom out already?

Yeah use the search feature on here. 3 week stall. Very common. You will never lose weight continuously. Peaks and valleys. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    No longer answering these questions:

The 3 week stall really bugs the heck out of me. SEARCH! The only poop question I had was after searching and didnt find nobody else talking about it. It was because I start gagging and trying to vomit when going. Doesn't happen often, maybe once every 2 weeks now. After nobody here had that, I googled it and other people had the same problem on another forum. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App

    Weight loss slow going

do a search for the 3 week stall - you'll see lots of posts about people hitting their first stall the 3rd week out from surgery! You might also want to start checking your measurements. Many people find that the weeks where the scale isn't moving are the weeks where they actually lose the inches as their body adjusts to the new weight,
  24. Bufflehead

    Feeling hungry all the time...

agree with @@M579 -- "empty burning sensation" is very likely stomach acid, not true hunger. Talk with your surgeon about more/better PPI's and see if that doesn't take care of it. The stall in weight loss starting around the third week post op is completely normal. You can search the forums here (or even Google) for "three week stall vsg" or "third week stall bariatric surgery" or "3 week stall weight loss surgery" and you'll see that virtually everyone goes through this. Hang tight and stay off the scale for a few weeks, things will pick up again. Good luck!
