    Help what do I do??

I had my band put in Oct 10ccband. First fill blind poke three tries 3cc in. Second two pokes dig dig 3cc in, third three pokes dig dig 1ccin RESTRICTION!!! Ya good weight loss happy. Fourth wanted to tweak a little only had restriction in the morning fill 1cc five pokes dig dig. Next day no restriction I think I have a leak. Drive another 200 miles for fluoro and she is able to get 5cc out I should have 8cc plus doc put in 2cc at time of surgery (that is 10 in a 10cc band) she adds 1cc more Fill # Five now I should have 11cc no restriction at all I have a leak. She said sometimes the tube collapses and you can’t get a true read. She said you don’t have a leak because I got something out. They don’t want to take any responsibility for f-ing it up. The obvious problem with having bands in Mexico is the after care. I knew this and yet chose to go for it. If I go back to my doc it is $2500 to replace port and tube. Then what who do I have do the fills? I should have had a sleeve that is what my doc is famous for and there would have been no fills, no leak and it was $2000 more than a band so in the long run cheaper after you factor in the cost of fills and heart ache!! ANYONE OUT THERE DO NOT HAVE NORTH WEST FILL CENTER IN ARLINGTON WASHINGTON DO YOUR FILLS. QUACKS!!! So where do I go from here?? Right now after I beat myself up I am doing nothing can’t afford it so I am trying on denial to convince myself that I have restriction. Any suggestions???

    I am so happy

:thumbup:I hit my goal a few weeks ago. Shortly afterward I couldn't keep my food down. I droped 8 more pounds after that. I was feeling faint and light headed alll the time. I thought I could tough it out. I was just thinking it was me, that I was being overly sensitive. Monday I made an appointment and they got me in right away. Doc took out half my fluid in my band. Boy do I feel like a new person. He told me to gain 10 lbs. I about had a heart failure when he said that.... But most of it is water weight. He also said that my body has "struggled for 13 months" to get to my current weight. A month of freedom will be great. It is 3 days later and 4lbs heavier. I am so happy. I still want to gain 4 more lbs. Not hard for me!!! lol it is kinda fun. Then maybe a slight fill.
  3. So as most of you big guys know from experience that it is a pain in the butt to find an office chair (any chair) with armrest that don't pinch your sides. Now im a big guy, 498 to be exact and the biggest issue I always find going out to eat or to the movies is will I fit in the seats they have. But I never thought I would feel like that at home. So before I got my "Fat Man Chair sent from the Gods" I had a very nice La-Z-Boy office chair with arm rest given to use by my mother-in-law. It was a bit snug and as I got bigger it just started pinching the heck out of my sides and leaving marks. Mind you I didnt spend to much time in the chair because I had been injured and used my laptop in bed mostly. So finally I was like ok let me take of the armrest and oh how it was comfortable. Only problem is because of my weight I had bent the plastic legs that connect to the casters and basically the bottom center of the char hit the floor and scrarched it up. I started up at college full time online from home and I was using the desk for all my studies so I was spending 3-4 hours a day on it. So I got rid of the old chair and started using a folding chair, big mistake, I have severe back issues and the hard chair just killed it. I was looking around on livingxl for chair that would work and wow they were expensive, im a stay at home dad and a full time student, so spending a minimum of $400 on a office shair was not going to happen. So i started taking summer school classes and oh man, my days are long. For those of you who have taken a Summer semester of college know how intense and long those 4-5 weeks are. So after the first week I calculated I had spent over 50 hours at my desk and since one of my classes is a computer science Unix class I was hacking away for hours. I finally broke downa dn was like "OK, I need this chair no matter what. your back is killing you and yoou deserve some comfort" So I started looking on livingxl again and found a $399 chair on clearance for $250, oh yeah what a steal...But wait, can I find a Promo code..YUP good ole Independence Day, I ended getting an additional 10% off plus only $4 shipping for a 58lb. chair...Score, I ended up paying less that $240 shipped. Now 4 days into using my chair I am so happy and my back and sides love me for it. Hope you guys enjoyed my little story.... -Carlos
  4. I am 2 months post op. I have lost 30 pounds. I eat what ever I want only in very small quantities. I log every bite I eat into myfittnesspal.com. I usually don't eat more than 700 calories a day. I usually walk at least one mile a day. I have no pains and no problems. Most everyday I eat three small meals, eat a very small snack and drink a Protein drink. I don't think I am losing as fast as most people but I am losing. My surgeon is amazing!! I didn't have a catheter, I didn't have drains of any kind no problems. I highly suggest not eating anything for 10 days preop, only drinks and Protein shakes. It makes your recovery so much easier. If you have questions I would love to help. T

How fast can I bounce back?

I had surgery on 09/24. I took two weeks off from my desk job. After a week I felt like I could have gone back. I went back to work on 10/8 and on 10/9 I passed out and broke my foot in two places. So please don't rush it and make sure that you drink plenty of fluids.

How fast can I bounce back?

This surgery takes a lot out of you. My daughter had a hard time going back to work in retail at 10 days. She found it hard to get enough protein in to have enough stamina to make it through a 4 hour shift.

    Changes

A couple of good things ~ I got a new job. My old job was at a credit card call center. Not the job for me although I did stick with it for a year and a half. I finally got a civil service job again....getting back into the system, yea! plus it's a wee bit more money and it's closer to home. Also, we've had our house in TX for sale since May '07 and finally , finally got an offer. We've got everything ironed out (we have to put a new roof on but insurance will cover most of it I hope, my deductible is huge). It will be so great to not have to struggle each month to make a mortgage plus rent. Closing is set for Mar 10. I bought some new PJ's on clearance the other day and the largest size was XL. I bought them because I'll be able to wear them soon but I decided to try them on when I got home, just to see how tight they were and THEY FIT. Woo Hoo! I'm almost out of plus sizes. As of this morning I have lost 41 lbs. 25 more lbs til onederland.
  9. Hi everyone, I am relatively new here. I signed on a few times but haven't really gotten involved. I wanted to wait until my date was closer. Soooo....Insurance has authorized, I have pretesting on 12/30, start stage 2 diet on 1/5/09 and am having surgery on 1/19/09. I am so excited!! I would love to hear from anyone in pre or post stages. Happy New Year To all!!!!:tongue_smilie:
  10. Hi all! I was banded 10/21/09 in Kansas. It has been a pretty easy process so far aside from the awful gas pains I had that first week. I'm excited about getting healthy and thin (well maybe not thin, but at least out of the obese categories). I turn 30 tomorrow, yikes! I'll treat myself by going to the gym :wink2: What else? Hummm... I started down this road in August when I made the very difficult decision to have weight loss surgery. It snowballed from there. I went to a meeting at my surgeon's office. A few weeks later I met with the surgeon. My insurance approval came a few weeks after that! Yeah, surprised me too. I got in my visits with the psychologist. Then it was time for the longest two weeks of my life doing the pre-op diet. It was tough but I did loose 20 pounds! Surgery day came and went without any problems. Now I'm just waiting for December 3rd when I should get my first fill. I guess I am in bandster hell right now. I try to only eat 1 or 1.5 cups at each meal but I get hungry about an hour or two before it's time to eat again. I'm getting through it though, just gotta bide my time until I get fills and get some restriction going on. Good luck to everyone here, I'll be hanging out from time to time!
  11. I sure wish my surgeon had told me that! I have lost 5 lbs since my surgery on 10/22 and my first fill is on 12/01. I have been feeling horrible for only having lost 5 lbs. I even started exercising and I eat around 1200 calories a day. My surgeon didn't say I wouldn't lose weight, but he also didn't say that I would. I just assumed once the band is in....
  12. I think it depends on your dietary requirements before and after surgery. My doctor has us on the liquids 2 weeks prior, and Clear Liquids 2 days prior...and then liquids again for 2 weeks after...and then mushies for 2 weeks after that...and then more textured foods...but still not everythign for weeks 5-8. I know in the weeks immediately after I wasn't getting very many calories at all because of the diet...not because of restriction from the band. I was banded on 10/15. Two weeks prior, on the liquids, I lost about 11 pounds, and have since lost a total of 27 pounds (including preop diet).
  13. I'm starting to get really frustrated about this surgery. During the pre-op phase, I lost 23 pounds, and the first three days after surgery, I dropped another 10. Since that point, I have either stayed the same or gained weight every single day. My fiance had the same surgery a week prior to me, and she is dealing with the same thing. I just don't get it. In diets of the past, if I had eaten this amount of food, I would have been dropping 5-10 pounds a week...but after the band, it's nothing. I was expecting rapid weight loss (and was pretty much guaranteed this by my Doctor, as long as I followed the guidelines, which I have), but at this point, I'm starving myself and eating foods that disgust me (protein shakes) for nothing. Has anyone else had these problems after the surgery? I understand the argument about swelling, but if that was the case, I would have gained in the days following surgery. I also understand plateau's, but this has been going on for 12 days now. I weigh almost 400 pounds and am surviving on less than 1000 calories a day...it's ridiculous.

    Buh Bye....

I have totally given up Diet Coke. For those that know me...know that I ALWAYS have a diet coke sitting next to me and that I am ashamed to to say that I can go an entire year without drinking a bottled Water but drink 10-12 diet sodas a day. This is what I did to quit 3 weeks ago. I stopped Diet Coke completely because of the carbonation. I thought that I would ween myself by drinking coffee. I was mean on day one...I even cussed someone out by phone (bill collector) and this not my way of doing things. Day 2 - I was still a little irritable had maybe 2 cups of coffee...but I stopped drinking coffee to. I had a slight headache for a day or two...not a major one. I have been drinking bottled waters...but I doctor it up with crystal light or Hawaiian punch flavors. No sugar or calories. I now drink 6-8 bottled waters a day. I have my surgery on April 3rd. I was told absolutely no carbonation and that is what kick started me.
  15. Hi all. I have not been on here for some months. Personal issues that I will not go into here, but I had my sleeve on 11/29/10. So far I am very happy with the way I feel. I was taking Lasix to get rid of excess fluid pre-surgery, but my dr. did not want me to continue it post surgery. I was alarmed at first, because, of course I started retaining fluid and actually put on 5 lbs, from surgery day through 5 days post op. He was right in his decision, because I would have been dehydrated had I taken it. With that said, after I lost that 5 lbs of fluid plus an additonal 10 lbs during week 2, there has been no further change in weight. On monday I will be 3 weeks post op. I have been getting in 64+ ounces of fluids, getting in all my required 60 grams of protein, walking 1+mile on the treadmill for a week now with no further change. Am I doing something wrong, or is this normal?

What to expect postop day 6

I too was sleeved on 10/1 so I'm 1 week out..I haven't experienced the painful gas everyone was talking about...but the only thing I'm experiencing is the acid reflux in the middle of the night. I haven't taken any meds for it yet but I will definitely be getting some today. My pain has been minimum, on day 3 I was released from the hospital I really didn't need anything but chap stick a hair brush and a change of clothes to go home in the hospital supplied everything else. On day 3-5 I had mad restriction my main focus was fluids fluids fluids I was and still afraid of getting dehydrated..now that I'm able to to get in a little more in I'm starting on my protein on day 6-7 that's my input so far one week post op I've lost a total of 11pounds, it's kinda like omg I'm disappearing lol its definitely something to get use to

    Approved ---I think

I was told I was approved by UHC on 10-19-07 I had my surgery on 11-12-07 This morning I get a letter telling me it is not covered, go figure that one out, so I have been on phone all morning trying to get this figured out, I wouldn't have had the surgery if my insurance couldn't help me pay for it. Frustrated to say the least.:cry
  18. Rev Me Up!

    Am I on track?

As you will hear, this is a highly individual process. 12 pounds sounds great!! Now, be sure to prepare yourself because you are on the cusp of your first stall. The 3-5 week stall makes a lot of people crazy. Your body drops this initial weight and then stops to take a breath :-) I lost around 10 punds in the first week and then a couple of pounds for the next 3 weeks. Now I average 2 pounds a week. I am slow, but I also started at a lower BMI because I had a lap band before. Hang in there and focus on your food-- Lara
  19. wow. I'm so sorry to hear of the endless waiting on your end. I had a similar experience - and I found that when I kept calling my stuff finally got done and faxed. ugh! frustrating isn't it? however, once I got my approval -- I too called my insurance and the date they sent me a letter. It took 10 days to actually receive the letter though! - anyway, when I called the surgeon's office with an approval, I was called back immediately. I had rarely been called back, let alone that fast. Had my surgery last Monday and when I called for my first post-op appt she got to me right away when she got in. so ----- maybe they have so many of us wanting to go thru the hoops and they can't handle it all? maybe those of us approved already are priority? not sure. Is your surgeon very experienced with lap band? I know you wrote that he did your gall bladder and is pioneer in laparoscopic surgeries and all, but how much with lap band? This is completely different in the after care aspect of the surgery ---- it isn't just surgery and done like most surgeries are. I'd want to know how many he has done before I trusted him with it. just some thoughts
  20. I have started working out on my Elliptical. We are supposed to be getting 30 minutes of exercise daily (I have been walking). However with the elliptical, well it's pretty obvious in less than 30 seconds that it has been 20+ years since I have actually "worked out". LOL. I was following the training settings on mine and their recommendation is to start with 20 minutes the first time, and do that for 5 days and then the following week go for 25 minutes.. and keep increasing over the weeks until you reach 40 minutes. Well I have everything I can do to even get through 1 song on my playlist. LOL I'm assuming I should just start there and go? 5 minutes this week and try for 7 or 10 minutes per time the following week? So there is my confession and someday my inspiring starting point: "The first time I got on my elliptical, I couldn't even finish the first song on my playlist".
  21. I have no fill in my band and have lost 115lbs total; have 5lbs+ to go. I do have restriction (I feel full with a cup or a little more of food) but I can eat pretty much anything. Sometimes bread gives me a hard time if I don't chew well, otherwise I have restriction, but not nearly as much as most people here do. I think it's possible and a good idea, IMO. Some will probably disagree but for me my journey has been 90% me, 10% the band. Yes it keeps me full but I chose to workout for an hour each day and I chose to continue to count my calories, weigh all of my food, etc. Hope that helps and good luck!

    Depo-Provera

So everyone's body is different which means it's going to process it differently. Some ppl take forever to get pregnant(years) or it can be the next month. As for me I was on it for 8 yrs and gained 10-15 lbs for every yr I was on it. It is also one of the reasons I have hell losing weight. I've been off the shot for 2 yrs now and still not pregnant. Although we decided to stop trying in jan when I started this journey. The only up side to the depo was no period Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G870A using the BariatricPal App

    Thin crust pizza

I use a low carb tortilla and make bar pizza in a cast Iron skillet. LOVE this recipe (below) and once you get the technique down, it tastes like a lovely crisp thin crust pizza and I can usually eat two pieces, so I get two meals out of it - which is super as I loved cold leftover pizza just as much as fresh! I use a low carb spaghetti sauce, but only about one tablespoon because I don't like lots of sauce anyway and they tend to have lots of hidden sugar in them. I tend to either make my own, or get something like Aldi's organic line marinara as it is much lower carb than most. We top them with things like roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, turkey pepperoni, black olives, fresh basil and spinach and lots of mozzarella. http://www.seriouseats.com/2014/10/cast-iron-skillet-tortilla-pizza-bar-pie-food-lab.html
