9 Months - Down 112# And A Nsv
Ms skinniness replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I love your NSV! I go walking and marvel at how easy I can walk with no effort, especially in the heat we have. heck, I went for 2 walks yesterday... I did get sleep though. CONGRATS! -
I am just thrilled with my weight loss progress. I was camping this weekend with my horse and some other horse friends. One of the ladies only met me a few months ago and didn't know i used to be so heavy. We were talking about getting back to the gym now that fall is here, etc and she said to me "but you don't have much to lose" - I considered that a big NSV as I am still nearly 40# over my goal. Even my goal is still technically "overweight" but it made me feel good to be seen as "normal" range. After I got home, I was lugging stuff from my rig back up to the house. There is a small hill up the driveway, no big deal - I often jog or run up this little hill if I am in a hurry. Well yesterday I was loaded down with camping stuff, maybe carrying 40-50 pounds and I was a huffing and a puffing by the time i made it to the top of the driveway. It hit me - no wonder I felt like crap all the time carrying that extra 100+!!! What a relief it was to set down that load of camping gear, wish it was that easy with the extra weight.

I always has the problem with seat belt on the plain. so this is GREAT NSV!!!!! -
Terrible photo with the iPad but look at the seatbelt! That is the excess once I pulled it in. Presurgery I was struggling to do it up and on the border of asking for an extension belt. Today, I got to tighten it. And LOOK!

One Really Weird Nsv (And An Awesome One)

Down 105 pounds and finding more comfortable sitting positions at work. I can cross my legs under my desk, almost indian-style too. Today I had slipped my shoes off under my desk and crossed my leg underneath me. Then BAM! I slammed my toe into my desk drawer! My toenail ripped halfway off and started bleeding. Hurts like ___! Some might not see this as an NSV but before I only had one position I could sit in at work. It just made me laugh and think about how many little things we don't realize are affected when we lose weight! And, an awesome one... took the trainer at my gym up on her offer of one free session. I REALLY need to learn how to tone more. We did upper body and abs today. I was so impressed with what I could do! She kept demonstrating things and I thought there was no way in hell it would happen and then BAM (but a good bam this time) I'd be in that position. She kept having me sit on a ball and walk out so only my neck and head were on the ball and I had to lift my hips up and support myself with my quads and abs. I was shocked! There were still things I had trouble with or couldn't do but I gave it my all! (And she convinced me to sign up- and pay- for more sessions!) Never in my life did I think I would work with a trainer, I was always too self-conscious. -
Nsv- Walked Out Of My Wide Clarks..lol
Marty McSkinnystein posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yep, I was never a wide until the last couple years as I gained weight. Looking forward to nice high shaft boots- although doing ballet as a child my calves are still over developed so it would be amazing to wear tall boots. We shall see. I'm grateful today. Things get better all the time! -

Week 3 weigh-in update...down to 251.2! A couple of NSV's.....my size 20 jeans (that I bought 3 weeks ago) are now LOOSE!! I had to pack two more blouses in the Goodwill bag...too big to wear out of the house! I've lost a combined 23.5 inches from my neck, chest, waist and hips!! Woot! -
Hi everyone, glad to see posts! Nicole- I didn't mean you should be hard on yourself, just not take a total break. Like for me, I have 1 day a week that I totally "cheat" on- for me that means lots of ice cream. Lots. So I do it once a week instead of every day like it was, and it's easier to stick with it during the week. I don't beat myself up though if I have little slips during the week or don't exercise every day....I am learning to be good to myself. Meredith- yay for you for passing by Auntie Ann's! I too would take any mall excursion as an excuse to indulge- pretzels, Orange Julius, etc. That is a HUGE nsv! Yep, you'll have to get into a routine with eating for sure- it is easy to do a Protein drink in the AM, especially now that I really am tighter in the morning! And it starts my day with a good boost of protein. Chrissy- good for you being super busy! I'm glad the job is going well. A few bad eats will not undo all the work we've done, and life will happen after all! Good for you getting back to the gym. Lady Bandido- nice to see you! I think you're right, challenges for sure. Maybe you could schedule your fill earlier this month so if you have issues you can get it resolved before you go on vacation- if you feel like you're hungry and need it. As for me, this last fill really has me tight! Not too tight, I think, I still drink just fine and eat if I'm really mindful- which I should be. I am taking way too big of bites, and not chewing enough, which had me stuck badly at a restaurant with the family on Friday night, and then badly stuck again yesterday at dinner. And I WAY overindulged in ice cream yesterday and still feel sick, didn't sleep well at all, feel sick to my stomach today. I can't workout at lunch today as my car is in the shop, so I can't get to the Y. Tomorrow our company is doing a walk for 9/11, a 5 k, so I'll get that in at least. So much stress, so many things to worry about- but I am still worth it, life is always going to have at least SOME stress, so I'm just going to suck it up and drive on, LOL. Everyone have a great day! Nicki

I was at a HS football game tonight. Saw a woman I've known in passing for years, I waved and said hello, and she looked at me with a confused blank stare. Then it dawned on me- she didn't recognize me. LOL! Awesome NSV.

Hey Gals, Chrissy, I think it's called life, fortunately and unfortunately.:-) Sorry to hear about your favortie go-to food, our friend, tuna salad. I know how you feel about it. Have you tried Smart Ones Santa Fe Rice & Beans? That's my go-to food when nothing else goes down. I love them! Well, I finally broke the plateau and am down to 184.2 from 185. Hey, don't laugh, I'm going to take it! It was great seeing another number whether it was 184 or 186 because all I've been seeing is 185 for 2 months! Hopefully by tomorrow I'll have lost the 2oz and make it a true pound lost. LOL Well, I finally have great news. I got the job I had interviewed for and I start Monday. I now have to change my eating schedule since I've had the luxury being home {2 years} and eating late in the morning when my stomach allows me. I think I'll be doing the protein drink in the mornings like some of the rest of you. So, I had what I call an NSV today. I had to run to the mall and pay a bill and walked past Auntie Anne's soft cinnamon and sugar pretzels. I don't go to the mall much but when I do, I would hit Auntie Anne's and buy a few bags of those deliciously warm, tasty comfort foods, ok, you all get the idea. I past it twice, on my way back I almost tried to justify why I should have one bag, to celebrate my job, duh? No way, I pushed that out of my mind, passed it by and said thanks but no thanks! That was worse then passing by a fast food place for me. BUT I was strong and won!

Hey Ladies... Just wanted to report that I had my 1st non-drug induced monthly cycle.. Sept 1-6... A little crampy early on.. but nothing severe enough to require meds... Didn't bleed like a slaughtered pig (though the regular tampons didn't quite work too well day 2 and 3) TMI.. sorry... but, I'm excited and hopefully, my gyn will tell me that I can get my IUD.... I was diagnosed w/ PCOS 10 years ago... I usually have to do a 5-10 cycle of Provera to bleed.. Got a Mirena Feb 2011... didn't have any more periods until this one.. Gyn wanted me to do Provera again, didn't want to .. just prayed and I think my body if finally trying to act normally... Kind of stuck at 305... but, I'm down another size.. wore a size 20/22 dress from Target yesterday!!!

I'm kinda confused. What do you mean they categorized you? Like, they diagnosed you and it's in your chart now? I'm not sure why she'd call to inform you of that instead of just having told you at the physical, but I'm also not sure why it's insulting. I've got a diagnosis code of morbidly obese on my file, I'm sure. Because I am right now =p Someday that diagnosis will be off my record, but that day is not today. Just one more NSV I get to list when I get there I guess. Technically by BMI charts you are obese if your BMI is 42.6. Keep your head up though - this is the beginning - you're getting a chance to make a change in that =)

Deep breaths! I had my surgery a day before you and I went through a 3 week long stall. It felt like FOREVER. But, it wasn't. Eventually the scale started moving again and when it did, it ran! I have been going well since then. Your body is adjusting. It's normal. During my stall I freaked - is this all I'm going to lose? Did I fail this weight loss too? Was this small of weight even worth it? Hormones were going crazy. The bottom line is I tried just about everything. Switching up calories, working out more, eating more, eating less, increasing Protein, decreasing carbs, increasing Water. Nothing worked because what my body really needed was just time. It's probably what yours needs too. You're rebuilding your glycogen stores, holding water, and whatever other reorganizing it feels like doing. This is what helped me get through it: 1. Put the scale away for as long as possible. The days I brought myself to not peek, I felt much better. 2. Try not to stress. There is some research that says stress increases cortisol, which can cause weight retention. 3. Rant, rave, etc in your blog/journal/to your friends whenever you need to get it out. Sometimes just getting the frustration off your chest helps...at least it helps me 4. Read through every stall post on here - You are not alone! Most of us stall and freak at some point. 100% normal 5. Log your eating on MFP or a similar website - Helps keep you accountable so that you don't slip up because of frustration 6. Keep yourself busy. The more you're doing other things, the more calories you burn, the less you think about the scale 7. Assume that you are still on the stall. If you're pretty sure you're still on it, it will cause less frustration/loss of expectation if you step on the scale and you are. If you step on and you're not, what an excited surprise 8. Measure yourself. You are probably still losing inches. 9. Take pictures. Do you look any thinner than pre-op? Yes? Something to feel good about 10. Write down all your NSVs. You are kicking butt! The scale is not the only way to show progress Hang in there. It's hard. It sucks. But it ends eventually!
