Some do experience random bouts of nausea. Your tummy is still sensitive & can be fussy & decide it doesn’t like certain foods for a little while. It can even say no way to something today & tomorrow it’s fine. So it could be just that. Your sense of smell & taste also become more sensitive for a couple of months. And yes you can develop temporary intolerances to things like lactose & artificial sweeteners that are alcohol sugars (those that end in ‘ol’) . Yes, your hormones do go haywire too causing your menstrual cycle & accompanying PMT symptoms to be strange because of the estrogen that is released from your fat as you lose weight. It can make you more fertile too. Some doctors recommend doubling up on contraceptives. So maybe take a pregnancy test to be sure.

Post op plastic surgery
Arabesque replied to Sunnyer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Haven’t done plastic surgery. Don’t think the recovery & scaring is worth it for the little lose skin I have. If they took it from all over my body they’d probably only remove 1or 2 kilograms. But beauty treatments, I’m like @ms.sss. My name is Arabesque & I’m vain. It’s something that only started in the last two years. Was never this bad before surgery. It’s my new addiction. Had Dysport (Botox) in my forehead, between the brows, chin & upper lip (lip curl) several times. I love it. The lip curl is amusing as for the first couple of days after it starts working, I sort of lisp & feel like a can’t pronounce some words & cleaning my teeth is a hoot - can’t spit out the toothpaste it sort of drools out. Several RF sessions in my second year. Don’t know if it did anything because I did it around the time my weight was stabilising & my body was resettling. Liked the experience though - soothing. Filler on the side of my face. Had sunken pockets of no fat in front of my ears. It lifted my marionette lines a little. Had one derma pen (deeper micro needling) treatment (subsequent sessions delayed for many reasons) but am having my first combined micro needling & RF (even deeper needling & RF which occurs below the surface of the skin) in January. Takes three moths to start to see any effects & you need about 6 treatments of derma pen but inky 4 with combined treatment. Think I see a little reduction in my acne scarring, which was the main purpose of having it. The combined treatment is supposed to aid skin laxity. We’ll see. Have monthly facials, pedicures (like doing my own finger nails) & have had micro blading (best thing ever). Having first teeth whitening this afternoon. Don’t know what I’ll try next. -
Post op plastic surgery

I've had a lower body lift, an arm lift, a breast lift, and a face/neck lift. And yes - I'm very happy with the results. many surgeons will recommend you wait a year once you reach goal to make sure your weight is stable before having plastic surgery. Reason being is that a significant gain can affect your results. -
Weirdest None-Scale-Victory - I'll go first

We recently moved to a new apartment. Guess who was up on the ladder all day installing curtain rails, hanging curtains, photos etc. I can't remember the last time I was on something that is more than 20 cm above the ground 😂. I can't use my weight as an excuse to tell my wife that I can't climb on the ladder and hang stuff anymore. Skipping meals and hard labor during the past week seems to have paid off. I lost 4 kgs and now down to 89 Kg (from 150 kg before WLS) -
Want to get weight loss surgery but am not getting approved

What about your grand parents? I am sorry that this is happening to you. With the raft of things going on I wonder if weight loss surgery would bring about the changes you want? You have searched very hard to get answers. I wonder if asking Dr Phil for help would get you the help you need? He seems to have many specialists that are able to get answers, 🤗 -
So is it just me or does this really change ur relationship! Ive been married for over 10 years and ever since I got the surgery and I’ve lost so much weight it’s like wow my husband is all over me , wants sex all the time , I can really tell he likes the new me or more like my new body. Have any of you had or wanted to have plastic surgery after weight loss, or other beauty treatments, especially (but not only) in the face? I've lost 41 pounds and I see it in my face. I really would like to have eyelid surgery and I also need to have something done with my neck, since I'm developing a bit of a turkey neck for the first time in my life. What's even worse, it's a bit off center. I'm wondering if it will get better or worse as I lose more weight. I also want to have a breast lift, and possibly a breast reduction, but I probably have to wait another year for that since I need to be at or near my goal weight for that. I'm hoping to avoid a tummy tuck, since my lower stomach is relatively flat after a liposuction there decades ago. What kind of plastic surgeries or treatments (laser, plasma pen etc.) do you want to / plan to have, or have had? And if you've had any plastic surgery or treatments, did you get the result you wanted?

How did you choose your goal weight?

How did you choose your goal weight?
Sunnyer replied to kbsleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are almost the same height and have a similar goal weight. I will be at normal BMI at 75 kilos based on most calculators, but I wanted a little wiggle room, so that's how I chose 74 kilos. Secretly, I'd like to be 73 kilos, since that would be 40 kilos even from my highest weight. Ironically, when I was 72-74 kilos in my twenties, I wanted to be under 70 kilos. I had friends who were 60 something or even 50 something kilos, and I envied them, but I didn't factor in that they were shorter than me. -
Surgery date August 9 2022 Surgery weight 243 pounds Current weight 207 pounds Target weight: 163 pounds My next goal is 93 kilos/ 205 pounds, which I hope to reach this year. And then there's 91 kilos / 200 pounds which I will hopefully reach in January. After that, I'll no longer be classified as obese, and also I'll weigh less than I've done in almost ten years.

When a neighbor you don't know comments about your weight loss
Jamiepierce replied to Jamiepierce's topic in Rants & Raves
My views on weight loss have changed since I had my surgery. I no longer evaluate someone by their weight. So someone commenting on the weight of another is no longer something I think is OK. Unless it is from someone you know and trust. As I stated in my post, I don't know this person. It did not feel comfortable. -
i am also a slow eater, regardless what setting I am in. I've conditioned myself i guess to eat slowly because if i eat to fast my fullness will kick in unexpectedly and i would be at best uncomfortable, at worst pain. so i try to avoid that as much as possible. the times i do eat "fast" (which is probably regular pace for "regular" people), is when I am particularly hungry, and yep i almost always pay for it. now in terms of snacking, i am probably one of those people who basically snack all day. I don't really have set meals, i kinda just pick at "meals" over several hours, or just a whole bunch of mini (micro?)-meals, cuz i do get hungry since don't really eat much in one sitting. At the end of the day though, i am still more or less at the calorie level needed to maintain my weight right now, so its working for ME. is your snacking causing you to eat more calories over all?

When a neighbor you don't know comments about your weight loss

Some people aren't very good at giving compliments! I try to learn from them, and instead tell people they look great, radiant, beautiful, etc, without mentioning their weight. Take it as a compliment, awkward as it may be! Keep up the great work!! -
When a neighbor you don't know comments about your weight loss
The Greater Fool replied to Jamiepierce's topic in Rants & Raves
At about 4am when I was doing one of my morning runs, a police car pulled up and stopped about 30 yards away, then turned on his lights and over his megaphone started sharing how proud he was of my losing weight so well, that he'd been watching me these months, and was personally invested in my success... At 4am. Over the megaphone. This went on for about a minute when the police academy on the street was starting their morning run, and over the megaphone he told them to congratulate me and shake my hand, so about 25 cadets ran over and did just that. At 4am. Over the megaphone. Thanks officers. Tek -
When a neighbor you don't know comments about your weight loss
liveaboard15 replied to Jamiepierce's topic in Rants & Raves
i get comments all the time from people i dont know who see me every once in a while. Even the staff at my local post office that i go to recently told me "You loosing a lot of weight, looking good" and so on. I personally like it. I am not a person that is easily offended in anyway regardless if someone is mean or nice. They are just words. -
When a neighbor you don't know comments about your weight loss
Jamiepierce posted a topic in Rants & Raves
I was removing snow from my car in freezing weather when a neighbor who is like a stranger to me snuck up behind me and was within inches from my face and said "you have lost alot of weight". I don't associate with this person as there are over 100 tenants here and you can't know everyone. I was startled as I didn't even know they were there and what popped out was "oh? I don't know." To which they replied, "well you have!". They then turned around and walked away. The way they said "well you have" was kind of in a mean tone of voice. Almost like they didn't like me saying "Oh? I don't know". I felt uncomfortable about what happened. During a support group, the dietician at the bariatric center I go to said we can respond any way we feel fit when people make comments about our weight loss that make us feel our privacy is being invaded or if someone is being nosy compared to someone paying us a heartfelt caring compliment. If someone you don't associate with mentions your weight loss in a way that doesn't feel complimentary or genuine, what are some approaches you have taken? I could have said "mind your own business", "can't you see I am busy", "why did you just sneak up behind me like that", etc. And maybe I should have! Thanks. -
SpartanMaker, I click on my photo at the top of this page and in my profile is a "My Surgery" section, but there are no tabs within "My Surgery." There are areas to enter lots of surgery-related data (height, current weight, BMI, etc.), but when I try to type something, there's just no space to type into. I don't understand how practically everyone else participating in this Forum has been able to do it, and I can't! Here's a screenshot of how it presents to me. Notice there is no edit button or anything to click on.

How to get started in this Forum
SpartanMaker replied to SacB's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
If you're on the website, look at the top of the page for your profile name. Click on it. All the things you might want to update or change should be in one of the options that show up. Probably the most important one is labeled "My Surgery". This page has multiple tabs on the left-hand side. Different info is found on each tab. You may want to go through all of them to find the various items you're looking for such as weights, surgery dates, etc. -
same as above: after weight loss phase, i don't really have a typical day of eating...it varies wildly from day to day. i do still track my calorie intake, but more so just out of habit. i generally average about 1800-2000 calories a day. some days less some days more. i do moderate exercise, and a 5'2" female. also managed to stay below goal weight this entire time with how and what i eat so im def grateful for that. oh, and i'm a little over 4 years out. what i ate today: - french bread with butter - cranberry granola - kimchi dumplings - general tso tofu - french bread with strawberry jam - grilled shrimp - garlic bread with cheese - sour cream & onion chips - almonds - espresso martinis (2) (i don't normally eat this much bread, but i made a couple loaves this morning so...) (also, im a grazer so i ate all this here and there throughout the day)

I'm not quite 3 years out yet (that'll be next month), but there isn't a 'typical' day for me. I used the weight loss phase to get into a new mindset and learn to eat in a sustainable way. Which is what I do. I eat around 1600-2000 calories depending on the day (but only count calories if my weight goes up past what I allow myself, i.e my comfortable zone). I'm 188 right now and as long as I'm still in the 180's I'm okay (if it goes into the 190's I start counting calories. I put on some weight after starting a med for my Trigeminal Neuralgia and was only able to lose about half of what I put on, but I figure that's probably the normal weight gain I heard you gain in your second year anyway so I just shrug it off or try to, anyway). What I ate today: Breakfast: Granola bar & 2 Caramel Rice Cakes Snack: No Sugar Added Mandarin Orange Fruit Cup Lunch: Leftover Chicken Fetticini Snack: Protein Shake Dinner: Turkey Potato Skillet I just had blood work done and my blood work is almost perfect (have low sodium, but that's due to my anti-anxiety meds. They told me to drink more lol).

At 5'6" and 233 pounds, I *barely* met the criteria. And that's with diabetes and high cholesterol. Sad to say, you might actually need to gain some weight in order to qualify. It's all about your BMI. -

I feel that even if they do end up finding you have PCOS or another hormone related issue, they might still not refer you to the WLS program as you're only two BMI points away from being out of the 'obese' category. However I would fight your endo a little bit more. While you may not have full blown pcos it's obvious you ARE dealing with some symptoms that could possibly be adjusted with medication. I would also ask your doctor about meds like Ozempic! You're close to being at a normal weight got your height & I feel that could help jump start it for you! -

ms.sss replied to shonna1989's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
...another thing i would suggest is to weigh and measure yourself often (if u can handle it...some can't). you mentioned a couple times in your post that you were surprised at your weight at certain points in your life. by keeping an eye on it, you may be less shocked and even may be able to avoid it altogether by taking whatever measures you decide on. further, if you combine regular weigh ins/body measurement noting with food tracking (and even track activity level, mood, sleep, etc) you may be able to collect some useful data to help troubleshoot your situation....but again, only if its your cup of tea. to lots of folks this level of involvement is not ideal. i can only say that my own penchant of detailed tracking has helped me identify many things specific to me. Good luck! ❤️ -
I noticed that about myself too and I’d hit a long plateau/maintenance phase. Someone on here suggested an app named Chlow and now I stopped snacking and weight is beginning to move down again. Keep trying what works for you. Best

Hi All! Summary: I'm bored of my go to meals. What healthy options do you love? Detail: I am almost 3 years out and have put on a few pounds from my low - 155 to 170 at 5'10. I think I'm still in the normal "bounce back" gain range but I want to make sure I stop any further gain. I work out pretty heavy: 3 days of HiiT, 1 day hiking, 1 day yoga plus daily dog walks. I had stopped tracking all my food but started back up and I am around 2000 calories a day which with exercise seems to be right (when I am tracking and staying there my weight stopped moving). My challenge is I tend to eat 3 meals plus an afternoon snack and I am looking for lower calories, lean protein options. I tend to like one pot or casserole type meals v. a piece of meat and side dish but I am open to any thoughts! For those of you curious, a regular day for me may be: Breakfast: Coffee w/ half and half and Green smoothie (with protein, frozen fruit & frozen spinach) Lunch: Chicken salad Snack: Greek yogurt with keto granola Dinner: Ground chicken tacos with carb conscious tortilla's or Breakfast: Coffee w/ half and half and 2 eggs on an english muffin Lunch: Chef salad Snack: Premier protein shake Dinner: Au gratin vegetables casserole with chicken dinner sausage I may also have dessert which is usually sugar free jello/sugar free jello pudding made with Fairlife skim milk Thanks for sharing!
