1 month Post op: losing fast

I had some requests for tips.. I am trying to think of what I have done differently. For one- I don't drink any coffee or soda or any caffeine which increases appetite and dehydrates you. I quit cold turkey along with smoking cigarettes. I eat anything I want. But, I usually just have protein or mostly protein because I crave it. I like canned tuna, beans, and chicken mostly. I have a stupid protein shake every day because it is the only way I can take my pills. It usually has 30 grams. I haven't really had more than 1000 calories a day, but I don't count bc thats why I have a band! I hear I should be having more. I don't exercise at all (I can't until I heal from a pulled muscle) I like herbal iced tea and crytal light to get all my water. I like sugar free popsicles when I want to eat but am not hungry. I DO NOT drink for an hour after I eat. I watch the clock like a hawk for that hour to pass. I drink all the way up tp my very first bite. A few days ago I decided to go off of Celexa, a major contributor to my weight problem. I will let you know if that makes a difference. :wink2::sad::drool:
  2. I had gastric bypass 13 months ago. Food doesn't taste the same and it doesn't taste good. I don't like any kind of meat anymore. I feel like I'm just existing and not living. I live on soup mainly. I don't know what to do anymore. My Dr said I just need to eat meat. I am still losing weight and I'm beginning to look anorexic. Has anyone had this problem with food, not liking the taste anymore?

    Last night...

So as my work day was coming to close my friend called me and asked if I wanted to come over for a glass of wine.... BAD IDEA. I should have known one glass of wine would turn into two and then ... into three... You know the routine. Well I ended up having 2 glasses of wine, turkey spaghetti, and 2 chocolate chip cookies :tired I was pissed at myself for doing that... TOTALLY. Why do I sabatoge myself? Why do I do this?!!!? What I am wondering is how do I draw the line from being a fanatic about my weight with out turning away my friends...??? I don't want to seem like home body or a downer - but I just want to stay on track so I will have to turn down my friends invitations.... Anyway I woke up this morning and decided it was a good day to wash my sheets and pillow cases... So I spruced up my room a bit, dusted and straightened up a few things. I made some tuna salad and had a few whole wheat crackers with it. I had my multi vitamins and am just waiting for my sheets in the dryer to make my bed. I have a psychologist appointment today to give me an evaluation to ok me for the lapband surgery, I BETTER NOT ACT CRAZY!!! lol. Just kidding... I will update you guys later.

    cleaning out the closet

Welllll....finally got busy on my closet and filled 4 large bags with my big clothes! Wow-didn't know I had so many clothes..lol. I am going to go through them now and get some to give away and some to sell (got to be able and buy more). I did find a bag of clothes I had outgrown and was saving for when I lost my weight again. I was so happy, some of those are a little baggy on me but I think I can maybe get a month of wear out of them. I had to tell my hubby that his favorite lingerie has to go and he just calmly replied that he would just crawl into it with me...wasn't expecting that one...made me laugh.... here's to happy closet cleaning!!:rolleyes2::bye:

    What the heck...

So I was banded on 4/23 and I have done good...However I know feellike I have no restiction and I am stuck...! I have not gained anything, but I have not lost anything in a week either... I almost feel like I have fallen off the ship and I am swiming as fast as I can to get back on.. Has anyone else had any of the same feelings?

    how fast?

I lost 136 pounds in less than 6 months. However, please realize that this sudden weight loss phase will come to an end. You will hit stalls that can last for months and then you will simply stop losing weight altogether. At that point if you are not at goal you will have to increase your physical activity and exercise in order to lose weight again.

    Restriction

I don't weigh my food any longer as I did when I first began this journey. I find that I now know how much it will take to make me full and still lose weight. You definitely shouldn't feel any type of uneasiness or discomfort with your fill. The restriction as most people call it is that feeling of fullness without overeating. I however do feel somewhat of a stop warning when I am full as opposed to before I was banded when I felt nothing and ate and ate until I was miserable. But, I rarely get stuck or PB and it is always because I eat too fast or take too big of bites. I am finding as my fills increase, of course my ability to take bigger bites decreases and I have to slow down, chew better and take smaller bites. It makes a huge difference and I find I get full faster. I am one of those people who has lost interest in a lot of different foods but still have my favorites.

    belly help please

I don't know what the moving down stuff means. Since your waist has measured smaller in the past couple of months, have you lost weight in those months? Also, are you doing any kind of resistance training lie squats, deadlifts or even ab work such as crunches, burpees? If so, you could be adding some core muscle which adds muscle thickness to waist while not losing inches there. I've not dropped a waist size in 6-8 months, but I've lost 10-12 pounds since my last waist size drop. I know I've lost some fat on my waist during that time, but I also have new muscle there since I've been training my core pretty hard, which equals no smaller waist, but a fitter waist, so I'm cool with that. There also may be other factors like sagging skin, water retention, etc. Do any of these apply in your situation?
  9. my wishes: 1. to wear something because I like the style, NOT because it fits my body! 2. hopefully have a smaller shoe size! 3. gain confidence in my entire body, not just my facial features.
  10. hi everyone I'm having a problem.I got sleeve a month ago and two weeks I stopped losing weight had anyone had this problem or any advice and what am I doing wrong?

    Please Help!

Congratulations on your surgery. it is not uncommon for people to hit stalls around week three (and several times throughout your losing stages). Your body is adjusting and still healing. Stick to the plan your doctor laid out for you and the numbers should start to move again. When is your next followup? Borrowed this link from Butterthebean's signature http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.html#.UpUK1tKth8E Good read about stalls.

    Skin elasticity

Genetics also play a part in this. Sometimes people who are older bounce back because of good skin genes. Sometimes younger people do not because of bad genes. But either way, think of how much happier and healthier you will be once the weight starts to go down.
  13. AAAAHHHHH!!!! I'm over 5 weeks post-op. I can pretty much eat anything, and anything it is!!!! I have very little restriction and find myself eating drive-thru food and generally eating way more than I should. Alas, this week have gained back about 3 pounds, no duh. I have my first fill scheduled for this friday. But I find myself feeling angry, anxious and generally concerned. I know I need it to stop this madness, but I'm afraid I'm gonna hurt myself or my band by this stupidity!! On top of that, if my blood pressure dosen't go down by the end of July, my MD is putting me on pills. I need a kick square in the @ss!! Happy Canada Day and 4th of July to all!!
  14. Hi you all, I was wondering if there were others out there that have lost only a little weight but a lot in inches. I was upset about not losing a lot of weight in my first month but then I remeassured my self and so that I did drop many inches. Am I the only one?

Day 6 - fear and cake

I have 21 days to surgery and I'm scared. Fear is the body's way to keep change at bay - we get comfortable in every sense of the word and change is a threat. I know this. I'm not going to give in to fear. Some one said having LapBand is like "freedom" and thats what I'm going to believe. Having already lost some weight - I think "I can just do this on my own" but then I remember how many times I've been down that road and it all comes back. I went to AA last night - haven't been in a while. Someone suggested I should tell my sponsor my plans, so I went with that in mind. I was pushed away - for real, not just my perception. I was told "don't let life get in the way of AA". Wow. That was the last place I expected to be judged for not meeting someone elses expectations. It's ok. I'll get my support elsewhere. On another note - they had cake - very moist yummy cake - I thought "I can't eat that!!", but then I had a celebration of sorts. I decided this may very well be the last cake I ever eat. I took the smallest piece and savored every bite - cream cheese frosting and rasperries with chocolate....I told myself to feel no guilt and just enjoy the flavor knowing it was the last for a very long time. So I did. I feel strong in my decision (in spite of fear) and every time I think about it - it comes in flashes of excitement and anticipation throughout the day - I get that little jolt of adreneline...you know the one??

    distoritions of ourselves...

I know that this is going to sound very, very bizarre, but I believe that I always had the OPPOSITE problem. Even at 320 pounds, I never looked in the mirror and said, "holy crap are you fat". I always thought I looked pretty darn good. Sure, I was a little chunky (uh, last time I checked that's about 160 pounds of extra chunky), but it was no big deal. And, every time I saw a picture of me where I looked big, it's always because 'it was a bad picture', or 'the lighting was bad', blah, blah, blah. Very strange. That's why I have a hard time with people complimenting me on my weight loss. I never really thought it was a big deal, but obviously, it's made a big difference!

HELP! Post Op two weeks Stressed!

1-2 pounds per week is what you are supposed to aim for. I'd be pissed to only lose 1 or 2 pounds a month. You need to do something more than ride a bike. Really stretch yourself. Start couch to 5k (we are about the same weight and I started running at me heaviest. You can do it!). Start Jillian's 30 day shred. I am doing p90x - just started this week. You will feel so strong and amazing when you accomplish something you think you can't do.
  18. No worries:) Make note that each surgical group does things a little different. Some groups will have you on a two week liquid diet presurgically, some will do only a week...still others will do shorter or longer presurgical diets. Different groups will move you through the post surgical diet differently, too...and will approve foods differently for reintroduction. Different groups will require different things of you before surgery, too. Some will want a full Upper GI endoscopy, some will accept a normal barium x-ray study of the upper GI. Any abnormal results will likely require more tests so appropriate measures can be taken to keep you safe. Having just gone through these months June to December....the things on my list are just what's fresh in my mind. I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch of stuff. Best wishes on your weight loss journey!

What level did you find your green zone?

It has been a really slow process for me. I have had a fill each month since January. I thought maybe my band had a hole in it but my Dr said no since he pulls the liquid out each month before adding more. I'm so glad I asked cause I was sure it had a hole in it. Lol. Well my last fill was at 9 in a 10 bad and I finally feel like I have a band. So I know what ur going through although you have done really well. I've been hanging on trying not to lose the initial weight I lost. This is certainly a journey and I look forward to learning how to figure it all out so I can lose some weight. It's been hard not getting down on myself and worried about people judging me knowing I had surgery and not seeing any weight loss.

    Calories at One Year

Congratulations on your amazing progress! You should be SO proud of yourself! I am in a similar quandary, and am meeting with a new nutritionist next week to get some guidance. I work out hard (triathlon and strength training) a minimum of 6 days per week, and twice per day on most days. I take in about 1000-1300 calories per day, and my target split is 30% Protein, 35% fat, 35% carbs. I had surgery 14 months ago and I'm just 1.8 pounds away from my goal, but feel like I'm overdue for switching from bariatric-weight-loss mode of eating into athlete-fueling mode. I tried to talk this through with the nutritionist on my bariatric team and she didn't have a clue how to advise me. Thus, I'm meeting with a sports nutritionist next Thursday. I'll let you know what I learn!

    after vacation...

Well, back from vacation. Had a good time, but it's always nice to come back home. A little dissapointed that I haven't lost any weight since surgery, I EAT SO LITTLE! I know I should walk more, I just don't have the energy. Still getting killer hunger pains in the middle of the night, still have big backaches that I think are brought on by being too full. "real food" seems to bring on the backaches. I wanted this band so bad, but it's so hard changing myself to fit into my band! I'm still the fat chick.:rolleyes2:

    101 pounds gone FOREVER!

I had surgery on 3/25/13 but lost 30-25 pounds in the month before that. I've lost a total of 101 pounds as of this morning. I had my gall bladder taken out on Monday but other than that, I've had no problems/complications. I have really got to get some pictures linked in here to show some progress. My weight loss has really slowed down over the past month but seems like it has picked up since my gall bladder came out. Hopefully it will continue on down. I'd love to be below 200 by Christmas. I guess we will just have to wait and see how it goes!
