I was the same way and my nutritionist recommend triple 0 yogurt it has 15 gm of protein and fairlife milk 13 gm protein. Mix them together in my blender bottle and then pour it in 9 of my 2oz cups and drink for the next 2 hours (I do this twice a day minimum and that yield 56 gm(s) of protein then I drink 4oz of milk to get to the 60 minimum). I struggled with the shakes and have about 6 brands in powder forms and the vitamins are just horrible. maybe you try that and see if that helps. She gave me another brand of yogurt but I forgot the name so for now I just use the triple 0 ( she recommended that as well). They have many flavors so you can change up the taste so you don't get tired of it. Let me know.

Protien Shakes help [emoji24][emoji24][emoji24]

I don't mind the Premier pre-mixed shakes, but making shakes from the powder is disgusting (for me at least). I've been using Syntrax powders (both traditional powders - chocolate, vanilla, and unflavoured) and Syntrax nectars (which are like drinking juice) both pre- and post-op. In both cases you get 23g of protein, 0 carbs, 0 sugars, 100 calories. The nectars I usually mix with just water, but the powders I mix with unflavoured almond milk (or soy milk), and if I'm using chocolate, I usually add some PB2 peanut butter powder and (sometimes) either unflavoured/unsweetened Greek yogurt or half a small block of fresh soft tofu (the latter will make it thick like a milkshake), plus (usually) a banana. On top of that I always add either flax or chia seeds (ground). All those add-ons add to the protein count (often I get between 30-35g, depending on what I use). Oh - my new favourite smoothie is mixing Syntrax Roadside Lemonade with unsweetened almond milk, and 1/2 cup of frozen raspberries (or other berries) - it's really refreshing in the summertime! -
I'm burnt out on yogurt as well. Some days it just completely turns my stomach. I've been eating cottage cheese a lot. Muuna makes a cottage cheese that's mixed with fruit already that I like a lot. I also eat Special K protein cereal with fairlife milk sometimes or will have an Atkins meal replacement bar. They are low carb, taste well and have high protein. I can't tolerate eggs very well but I'm able to eat Egg whites and hard boiled eggs so occasionally I will bring a hard boiled egg or get an egg white omelet if I'm out or it's a weekend. Sometimes I will treat myself to half an English muffin with peanut butter or a little butter on it.

I've been hitting it most days. I'm 2 mos out also. Here's whay gets me to the number we need. Breakfast: protein bar 20 gm of protein. Morning snack: string cheese. Lunch: 2 oz chicken. Afternoon snack: Greek yogurt. Dinner: 2 oz chicken. Yes , I know I'm not getting any veggies yet but I can't meet every goal.... if I eat some veggies I can't get enough of the meat in so I have veggies some days not always. I think as time goes by we'll be able to fit more in.

August Sleevers ?!

Here's the basic list: Water Broth Jell-O Decaf tea Decaf coffee Sugar free Popsicles Sugar free drinks that are not carbonated (This list was taken from the obesitycoverage.com website), but it also reflects what I've read on many, many posts here. For the sugar-free drinks, try Crystal Light for flavoring. I think you can also have protein water during this phase . . . otherwise, only the broth has any protein, I think. At any rate, as soon as you move to the full liquid diet, it adds quite a bit--protein shakes, sugar-free pudding, cream soups, nonfat yogurt, and so on. -
Best and Worst of the Soft Food Phase
Lannie replied to RedOrangeSunrise's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I ate a lot of eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt and hummus. I had spicy Indian tomato soup week one....not my best idea...didn't sit well. By the end of week 2, I was eating panang curry without problem. Spice is going to be trial and error. i also did Vsg...so it may be different for bypass. Good luck. -
My Roundabout Journey

No, not yet. The 3-week pre-op diet is clear liquids only. Once I get sleeved (this Friday -- YAY!) I can go to any liquids, so yogurts will be okay then, Can't wait to have some yogurts and soups. Same old few liquids were SO BORING. I could have coffee or tea, but I'm a cream and sugar guy. I could handle the Splenda or Truvia, but it's just a little off without the creamer. The one upside I had was sugar-free gelatin, but even that gets kind of monotonous when it's ALL you can have, -
So what does everyone eat?
sylvia2017 replied to TooneyNinosMom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 6 weeks out and I'm getting burnt out on yogurt and protein shakes too. They were my main source of protein for 4 weeks and I lost 50lbs. Now that I can eat real food I haven't lost a single lb in 2 weeks. I've heard about the 3 week stall. I hope I'll start back soon. I think I've got to lay off fruit and oj. I buy the trop 50 oj it's less sugar less fat but I love it. I want a salad so bad but I haven't tried raw veggies yet. Kinda afraid to try. I would say definitely call your surgeon. My first week was extremely painful. I ended up being put on a prescription for stomach spasms and that helped. I only took it for about a week and then I was fine. Everyone's post-op diet is different. My surgeon wanted me to get 40oz of liquid in before starting on protein and then 64oz of liquids and 50g of protein daily. The protein shakes were/are very harsh on my stomach and I had to stop drinking them. My surgeon recommended trying a shake using greek yogurt instead but even that doesn't sit well. So it's Isopure Protein water drinks for me. I am 5 weeks out and so far the only food that I can eat (that I like) is applesauce, raw nuts, and beans (refried beans or soups). I've tried fish and it sometimes goes down fine but it did hurt last week. I'm hoping it was just a fluke and maybe I ate too fast or didn't chew enough. I have tried chicken and turkey sausage but it's too heavy for me right now and hurts big time. So I'll wait a little longer. Call your surgeon about the pain though. Hopefully it's an easy fix.

Just a look at gastric bypass in other countries
Romaina posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm from Argentina and I'm at a week after my gastric bypass. It seems to my some of my experiences are a bit different mainly in the pre op / post op diet. I started dieting pre op with the nutritionist in my surgery team almost 7 weeks before surgery. The first 3 weeks were a solid diet of high protein low carb diet with no sugar or alcohol whatsoever. The 4th week it was alternating days of solid diets and liquid diet and the last three week just liquid diet. The liquid diet consisted of Breakfast: 1 cup of coffee and milk (fat free) with the protein mixed in Mid morning: 1 cup of sugar free yogurt Lunch: 1 cup of soup (low calories) + fruit shake (half a banana +milk) with protein added Mid afternoon: the juice of 2 oranges Afternoon : same as breakfast Dinner: same as lunch All of this plus at least 2lts of water I lost 26 pounds before surgery. I'm starting my 2nd week post op and during the first week it was just water, te, clear broth and sugar free jello (of course with the vitamins). The goal was to get at least 2 lts of liquid consuming 1 cup in an hour. Yesterday I was given the diet for the second week and it's kinda similar to the pre op liquid diet (with a but more powder protein added) with out the yogurt, orange juice and fruit shake (always adding the vitamins) I have lost 15 pounds since surgery day and really feel soooo full all day that I don't even crave anything else. I'll keep you posted on how thing progress!! Sent from my LG-H815 using BariatricPal mobile app -

My Roundabout Journey

Hey!!! Are u allowed to have yogurt??? -
My surgery will be 3 weeks ago on Thursday. All docs are different. Mine has us do 3 phases of 2 weeks each. I'm in phase 2 now, "very soft foods". But I still need the protein shakes, Greek yogurt, etc to make up the protein I need. The food is such small portions that I'm not able to get enough protein out of it. Food I can eat right now is 2 ounce servings of one of these: scrambled egg whites (Egg Beaters), cottage cheese, potatoes, Cream of Wheat, oatmeal, refried beans, stuff like that. Hope this helps!

Tolerating liquids/yogurt/cream soups very well one week out- maybe soft food soon?
carla817 posted a topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm really looking forward to soft foods bc the "sweetness" of all the yogurts/cottage cheese/pudding is killing me. I'm adding cream soups too but really can't wait to venture out. Anyone else feeling like the healing spirit s better than expected? Or am I fooling myself? Also wondering what the deal with coffee is- I went back to work yesterday as I only sit at my job and I have no pain - but I was definitely tired and would've loved a small black coffee. Have to wait until Friday to ask my docs. -
I'm 3 weeks post op...I do protein shakes - I also have greek yogurts and refried beans with cheese and to treat myself....wait for it....I take a spoon of peanut butter and lick it....lol it's bomb, refreshing since I was on liquids forever and I get more protein in...just some suggestions - hopefully the expert sleevers don't criticize me for this lol.

Old veteran, getting back on track
mi75 replied to gmanbat's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm a vet too. almost 4 years out, and totally off track. I can't believe that I am one of those statistics, and I REFUSE to be a statistic. I'm NOT a failure, I'm simply derailed big time. I agree with Kathy, a huge factor is that we take time to come here, post and keep up with each other. I too have regained a lot of my original loss, but we get a new start every day, and tomorrow is my focus. I'm excited that I found a new support group to attend this week. I think it will really help. I'm going to be doing a true reset by utilizing the plan of my original surgeon. 4-5 shakes a day, sugar free yogurt, pudding, jello. Broth, and one meal a day (pick either breakfast, lunch, or dinner, shakes replace the rest). This is pretty much his pre-op plan and it will work. Compared to what I'm eating now, this is very little. I'm still aware of SOME restriction but I think I have done a doozie of a job on my sleeve and stretched it. over time, I am eating WAY too much and have been drinking soda for over a year so i'm sure there is stretch. Also tomorrow going to focus on getting OFF the soda and going back to coffee, tea, water, etc. -
I need your input and your help!
mi75 replied to kristygrem's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I went back to a very basic pre-op diet. I fact I'm just starting another round of it. It worked great for me. I focused on my original surgeon's pre-op instructions which included 4-5 shakes a day, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, broth, lite yogurt, and fresh veggies, and 1 meal of choice (pick either a breakfast, lunch, or a dinner, shakes replace the other). I got a great start but then got derailed because I was working split shifts (some days, some nights) and my eating is always so screwed up when I do that. I end up eating during the day AND the night. Now I'm a bit more balanced at work so I'm actually starting round 2 tomorrow. I know from other people I've talked to that get derailed, this approach works pretty well. -
Has anyone kept their surgery a secret?
Diana_in_Philly replied to kcvasquez's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My husband and two teen daughters were told along with two friends I knew would be supportive. I didn't tell my mother or my sister. And when I went to my mother's funeral six weeks after my surgery, all anyone could say was how great I looked. I pushed the food around on my plate and talked alot during meals. Made sure I had Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and my shakes in the fridge at the hotel and ate as I could. Mom died without knowing and that's fine with me as she was very judgemental. My sister still doesn't know and we're very close. I knew she wouldn't understand. If you want to keep it secret you can. When people ask how I've lost the weight, I say that I log everything I eat, eat a high protein diet with almost no added sugar or flour, drink 64 ounces of water a day and work out for about an hour a day five of seven days a week. I tell them I am working with my doctors to do this and it hasn't been easy. All of that is the truth. -
Greek yogurt I had 2 weeks out and in the middle of the night it gave me crazy heart burn I woke up and drank water and it felt a lot better I think I had it and fell asleep with out it going down all the way I don't know

I tend to stick to frozen yogurt. We have a local shop that does all diabetic and bariatric friendly frozen yogurts and that's my spot during the summer months. I can eat regular ice cream but I usually avoid it.
-
My doc also doesn't promote massive amounts of protein. They say 45grams is all you need. I also don't like analyzing the macros either. I do write, what I eat so I can see each exactly what goes in. But i,am like you, fish is fish, yogurt is yogurt. If I had to track everything like that I would get very frustrated and find eating to be too much of a chore. I write what I eat because I don't want to find myself eating something I shouldn't and no record of it. HW 274 SW 263 GW 125 GASTRIC SLEEVE 7/21/17

Strangely, I can eat a little ice cream and feel fine, but frozen yogurt (even the SF kind) makes me sick. Just goes to show that there is no one size fits all way to eat after WLS.

well thats personally what I use but I have found the banana cream one is the best to me anyway. I add a little PB fit and some Greek yogurt and it makes a great breakfast
