Hello everyone. I am back. My apologies to everyone for being away, but I could tell I was near burn-out and really did not want to get to a point that I went BO all the way, so I stepped back. In hindsight I should have said something but I did not expect to be gone so long. I am doing OK. I am in reluctant maintenance, lol. I have picked up my sword fighting in earnest and building up my muscle mass, and since my weight loss had slowed to a crawl I decided to up the calories via Protein and veggies and give my body some time to adjust, and heal from a couple of new sports injuries (sports injuries, ha-ha!). However, as September draws to a close and I hover in the size 14 area, I do wonder if I have enough in me to get to a size 10. I think realistically that is about as far as I want to push myself. I do not want to go any further down than I will be able to maintain, and I think I can maintain it – if I can lose it. This begins what will probably be a very slow process, since I cannot compromise on the food front. I.MUST.HAVE.MY.PROTIEN. LOL!!! Things have been eventful, and for me Fall represents the end of the year, so I will be dealing with my Mom’s death through that, and again for the Holidays which I hate to admit but I would pass right through them if I could – but they are my Hubby’s favorite time of the year. I will not do that to him. Previous NSV I missed posting (I think)::: I FLEW!!! Google acro-yoga, you will see what I mean. I am preparing for the 5k Zombie run in December, and for my birthday, I will be celebrating by taking the Victoria’s Secret card I get each year (and usually give away) and go buy a “Pink” Sweatshirt for the winter. I hope to be on here regularly, even if not daily, and look forward to getting to know our new members and touch base with old friends.

I spent yesterday rearranging my sewing space and I finally decided that I can sew some clothes for me again. I pulled my sewing dummy out of the closet and realized I haven't changed her measurements to match mine in quite some time. Imagine my disappointment that my sewing dummy is now BIGGER than me, even at her smallest settings.

Checking in with the Fabulous 50's...I'm really happy today. I hit the 70 pound loss mark. 40 pounds to go. Surgery was May 3. I had to go out and buy new clothes this weekend because I have a couple of week long business trips coming up in colder climates and there is nothing in my closet that fit! My most recent NSV is that I can now fit in Chico's clothing! And not even their largest size! The sales associate had to keep bringing me smaller sizes. It felt awesome. And, bonus, This was the Outlet store that had tons of sales!!!

Down 2 Pants Sizes And So Excited!
A New New Dawn replied to A New New Dawn's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Btw, I am usually good w/ acronyms but what is "NSV"... I have seen people say "DH" too and not sure what that means? Usually, they are referring to a person with DH. Help! -
This just sounds like a stall to me. You had surgery about a week after me and are down five or more pounds than I am - so I think we're both pretty much right on target on weight loss. I got stuck in a three week long stall towards the beginning. It was horrible, but it broke eventually. If you're doing all the right things the scale will eventually start to show it again. You're doing great, try and focus on all the NSVs you must be having =)

Ok so I was sleeved on 8/27 so I'm 4 weeks post-op. I am down 34 lbs and can tell it's really working it's way inward. For a while now it's hurt to prop my feet up on the couch and cross my ankles (bone on bone) and my wedding band is loose. I usually take a shower but last night I decided on a bath. As I was propping up my legs to shave I discovered a long lost body part! No... not that.... I have a butt bone! LOL. I have lost a lot of my weight from this area and didn't realize just how much until I tilted back just a little in the tub and ouch! So I measured... I've lost 3 inches there!

Hi - I don't get on the boards much but wanted to share a NSV I had this week. I'm 9 months out from VSG surgery & noticed how much I loved my school yearbook picture this year (I'm a teacher). What a difference! Love my sleeve!

Bought tight 16 jeans about 3 weeks ago. They were bogo so I got a 14 too. I noticed the 16 was a little baggy by the end of the day and said what the hey! Tried on the 14 and they're a little baggy too! lol so I'm in a 14! (originally a 22 4 months ago!) grandmother picked me up a medium top last weekend and it fit. Thought it was a fluke. Got a medium top for me yesterday, tried it on today and it fits!!! (originally an xl-xxl) I kind of want to leave the giant sizing stickers on to show what size Im wearing and how much I've lost lol Also bought my first ever pair of skinny jeans! They never fit my calves and looked wretched. I make em look gooooooood now hehe

Lets Get Real! I've Been Reading A "regrets" Thread
Fiddleman replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To answer your question about 500 to 600 calories, I lost more like 10 lb a week except for stalls. At 3 months i still am eating around 700 calories a day, not sure. i don't count calories, i just focus on 3 oz protein a meal and getting in as much liquids a day as i can. i have 6 meals a day and always try and eat a high quality extended release protein shake with water at or right before bed. it helps your body burn calories all night. There have been a few stalls so far of varying lengths, but you still lose inches and have other NSV during this time. Even though I stalled out for sometimes 10 days, I did not stress out about it. We have already won by having this surgery. If you just follow the basics and eat cleanly, you will be a big success. Good luck! -
My surgery was August 13th. I have gone from a size 14 to a 10 since then. And have lost 22 lbs. yesterday I had on my jeans for the first time since surgery. They are baggy in the butt and I needed a belt to wear them. I made the comment that I would soon need to get rid of them. My mother turns to me and asks what size are they. When I tell her a size 10, she says that's bullshit because your ass is bigger than mine. My dear sweet husband and grown daughter both spoke up to tell me how good I look and what an amazing job I have done so far. Why can't she just say the same instead of always making fat comments??

Walking Around The House Last Night

Oh gosh, I can't wait for this! What a great NSV, congrats! -
PhotoAge is a neat application I found for the iPhone a few weeks ago. Initially, the application analyzed my face and said I was 39. I thought, that's not too far off as I am 36. I tried it again today and it said I was 32? Yay! This is a little NSV that made my day. Try it out for yourself. You might be pleasantly surprised. Just for grins, I tried it out on my dog and it said "face not recognized" Lol! I am not sure how this app works, but it must be doing some analysis of measurements and other facial artifacts like wrinkles. Not sure!

NSV is a non-scale victory. So losing pants sizes, fitting into chairs easily, anything that you feel good about that wasn't present/you couldn't do before losing the weight.

Stalled And Confused....
southernchic01 replied to southernchic01's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
NSV's??? What is that? I am measuring consistently. I feel I am losing inches as my pants are fitting looser and I have dropped a bra size already...that is all good. I am keeping the positive attitude!!!! Thank you! -
I can relate! I was feeling exactly the way you were when my scale stalled for 3 weeks straight. I got sooo frustrated. But the stall broke and now I'm losing again. Hang in there, it will get better with time. Sometimes our bodies are just rearranging things/rebuilding glycogen stores. Butterthebean has a great article in his signature that talks about it if you look him up. For now - focus on the positives. What kind of awesome NSVs have you had so far? Are you measuring? You could still be losing inches. Do your pants fit better?

Things I Don't Want To Worry About...
Susie in Lima replied to mamitalosingit's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree about the airline seats and the tray never being able to lay flat!!!! We fly alot and I will be glad to see how it feels in Dec when I fly next. Hoping there will be a great difference! I will also be ready to use a regular sized towel to wrap around me. I have been using a beach towel that barely did the trick but I can honestly say that it is already fitting better since my surgery 10 days ago! NSV! -
Ran shirtless for the 1st time ever this summer - such a NSV for a former fat guy

Great nsv! My "what th...?" moment came when I felt a lump in my chest. My first reaction was "Oh, no, what now?!" Then it dawned on me that it was the end of my sternum. I hadn't felt that from the outside for a very long time.

Woohooo! Very good nsv for sure!!!
