Scared

I'm 4 weeks out and I stalled 3wks in and at my month f/up I lost 29.8 lbs (I'm calling it 30lb), dieticians says we will go through a lot of stalls as our diet change and activities.. I don't weigh myself as often as you so because the scale stresses me out..always have..only weigh once a week but I can tell in my clothes more than anything..down in inches and a pants size.. that excited me more than that scale! Simple Weights Workout Plan

Thanks I'll have to look up YouTube. Also starting body pump and kickboxing with weights. I just have to be careful still because I'm only three Weeks post OP and still in some pain. ZGB

www.fabtofit.Blogspot.com
3. i love zumba and do that at least 3-4 times a week so my cardio is being taken care of. i know i need to start doing some weightlifting even though i'm not really a fan of it. i don't really have the money for a personal trainer so i'm looking to do this on my own. does anyone have an easy to follow (for a beginner) weight lifting or muscle toning workout plan for me to follow? or maybe a website, an app or a link i can go to that help me with this.
4. Hey Rachel, Congratulations on your band! I'm glad your feeling well. Just a quick word of encouragement, I was hungry after the surgery too. I gained weight before my first fill but (here is the good part) I have lost an average of 2 pounds a week since my first fill. So don't gauge your overall success by the time between your surgery and your first fill.
5. Hi Rachael, my name is Denise I live in Las Vegas Nevada.I'm 43 ,married and have 4 boys. I was Banded on Feb 18,2001 I'm 2 weeks post tommorrow. I Feeling great and I have lost 12 pounds since the surgery. Finally rid of the arm pain from gas ,just some pain at port but I'm able to do ever thing. tommorrow I go to mushie food and i can't wait ,tired of liquids. I am not hungry at all , but to say the least I'm a junk food junkie so I would still love a donut or candy , so far I haven t touched them.Everything is still so new. I would like to lose a 100 to goal but I'm striving for at least 50 by summer ,for some nice summer cloths. Some skimpy summer stuff. I would love to keep contact and chat while we go thru this its nice to have someone going thru the same thing.Add me to your Friends list if you like and since our surgery's are so close we can compare notes anytime. Hope to hear from you.
6. I'm 10 days post op and I'm HUNGRY! Is this normal? I'm on full liquids this week, I've had yogurt, apple sauce, soup, protein shakes throughout today...still hungry, so I scrambled an egg and mashed it to applesauce consistency and I'm somewhat satisfied but afraid that i may mess something up? Help?
7. Waiting for Tuesday so my doctors office can send off my paper work to the insurance company. Hope to hear back from them in a few weeks. But until then I will be getting everything all ready for a successful surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Plateau!

Are you measuring and logging your food? If not, you might find it helpful to start. There's no way to know for sure where (or if) you're off track unless you can look back at a week and analyze it. If you are already a logger, how many calories and carb grams are you eating per day typically? And are you certain you are continuing to drink the recommended 64 oz. of Water per day? I'm 10 months out as well and I find myself getting lax in that department. But it is really important.

New to Lapband Talk

hi tristin - i'm being banded by dr. yumford, oops, mumford, on june 3. i feel relieved that i have finally made the decision. unfortunately it was the cost holding me back. i know a lot of us don't have 16K in our back pocket but these forums, including the swlc forum made me realize that the cost is totally worth it - how can you put a price on your health! so you're a week into this now, how is it going? how was the optifast? i am feeling like if i can make it through the optifast and 4 weeks post-op, i can do just about anything!!! i know these 6 weeks will be torturous to me! any regrets? second thoughts? were you happy with the clinic? do you live in the gta? i am flying in from edmonton so i would pick your brains about hotels, etc. if you are from out of town. anyway - sorry for all the questions.

A therapeutic post

I'm on day 5 of pre-op all liquid diet. I have surprised myself at how well I've handled it. However, I'm struggling right now! It's Friday night and we would normally eat out. Instead, I am cooking a yummy meal for my family at home (which they will love). When I stopped for groceries on the way home I realized that I had forgotten to drink my 2:00 shake and I was hungry (maybe the 5th true hungry I have felt this week)! So, grocery shopping that hungry was hard! I got home and began prepping the meal (cooking has been strangely helpful this week as it keeps me busy and after I cook and clean up I don't feel like eating). I fixed a cup of coffee with unflavored protein- I had to force it probably because I let myself get over-hungry. I popped a big popper full of popcorn for my kids (who am I kidding- I wanted to smell it and savor the scent)....it's never smelled so delicious! I ate 6 kernels and I'm so mad at myself. I've been the pre-op diet saint! I just needed to come here and confess and apologize
11. I started back to work today...administrative in an adult day care. Loved getting back to what i love but tired a little easily. Am two weeks post op tommorrow. drinking and eating pudding and potatoes is too easy for me....i can't help being scared that i could just keep on eating, even though I am following instructions and taking 30 minutes or more to finish 2 oz. of creamed food or 1 cup of liquid. My doctor assures me that if I ate fast or more i would know i couldn't. Maybe i should just try to stop this crazy worry. years and years of having success and gaining back has made me worry that this isn't going to work either. Is that crazy? any councel out there? another thing- when did you start soft protein like tuna or salmon? I started my journey at 300 pounds and now I am at 276 so I am happy with that, but just afraid I will just stop losing. I probably needed to get back to work:001_smile:

Hello everyone

Hello James! I was banded on Aug. 22 and my hubby is going to be banded on Oct. 6. Is your wife going to be banded also? I am so glad my hubby is because we can support each other and understand it to the fullest. I didnt have to do a pre-op diet, so since my surgury 3 weeks ago today I have lost 20 pounds and have not had one problem. Good luck to the both of you!
13. One week post op and doing really well. I think I would be almost 100% but gas struck on Tuesday . I think I could walk to the moon and it woudn't help. Gas-x I'm not so sure about. But it will pass. I get to start soft foods tomorrow and regular food on 8/4/12. Had my first post op appointment yesterday and I am 7 lbs down. Lost 18 lbs pre op. Let me know how you are doing!! Have a fantastic weekend!! Stephanie
14. Hey everyone! After thinking of weight loss surgery for over 2 years, I finally made the call last week for an appointment. They were able to get me in today! I am so excited but nervous as heck! I am needing a sleep study 😞 and an endoscope test. I do get to pass the 3 month dietary restriction due to my insurance requirements for BMI. It sounds like I need to lose 25 lbs before I can schedule surgery and possibly another 25 on the preop diet. (Which I am very nervous about failing). I broke down last week and told my husband, who encouraged me to make the call. I am so thankful he is on my side but I do not plan on telling any other family members. Please tell me I'm not the only one out there like this??

Regrets?

I was sleeved on 8/17th the first week was a little tough but then it gets a whole lot better. just remember to drink your fluids. Best wishes!!
16. I posted under a heading of transfered addictions earlier on another sight - the general one on here. I know i need to go on a 12 step type of program. Was going to get a note book and allow myself say $30 A WEEK to spend, if i dont spend it it adds up. Keep telling myself , or i should say asking myself do i really need it,or do i just want it as it is a good price, trying to turn from clothes food shopping to towels, sheets etc. Anyone out there had the same prob. Any advice ,reading material, etc. greatly appreciated.:confused:n
17. I have never had any complications. If something tugs or pulls, it usually goes away pretty quickly. Now, it seems for the last week, my port has been hurting me. Either a tugging sensation, or just a sharp pain. Any ideas on what's causing this or more importantly - how do I made it stop? Thanks for your help.
18. You can not drink out of a straw for 2 to 6 weeks because it will cause gas and believe me you will have enough of that after surgery. After the surgery you are going to need a lot of liquid such as soup broth, jello, ice pops ( all of these goodies should be sugar free) unless u are allergic of course. I keep a lot of fruit so i do not revert to old habits, also almonds are awesome. These treats are for after your diets is done. Strictly walking for the first 6 weeks. Do not attempt any other exercise because your body is very week and keep hydrated.. From personal experience is very easy to dehydrate. I was in the hospital for 5 days because I was so dehydrated but I also had a stomach bug. For the vitamins get them in the metalling because it goes in to your system and yes get chewable much easier. BJ or costcos have this really good shake that is awesome for u. i will get back to you on the name. Sorry slipping my mind. Sweatpants are the best or short like with a stretchy band . It all depends where your incision are placed. sometimes u can even wear jean and be comfortable and for work u should fine. just a lot of gas and some soreness. if you have any other questions send me an email at Cam5992@aol.com

Please Help!!!!!

oK I'll start at the beginning I had my surgery in Aug. the day after my mouth and throat felt like a coating was building on my gums. Well this never got better finally went to pcp she said it was thrush. Well I took 3 different meds over the last 6 weeks and this gross stuff never went away. Finally I got fed up throat and mouth so sore I went to the ER and was diagnosed with a bacterial infection! This had to have come from the surgery it is just to coincidental that it started within hours after my surgery. Now I am on antibiotics and they are a large capsule. I opened them and put the powder in juice and once in ice cream to hide the taste. OMG they are absolutely digusting making my gag and almost vomit. Can I take a capsule normally I dont think I can keep doing the open thing. I asked pharmacy about a liquid she said that is awful and has a very foul odor and most people gag and can't tolerate it. Please help I just want to swallow the capsule but I'm terrified of it getting stuck. Any suggestions please I'm desperate. Lisa.

Just Banded

I wish I was able to say I did so well after surgery. I had what people might consider to be a horror story. I was so close to an emotional and physical breakdown. I was banded on 4/1. Surgery took 1 1/2 hours and almost went from laparoscopic to open method. I was unable to keep ANY food or water down for 11 days. During that time, I lost 30 lbs. Yep...30 lbs in 11 days! I was admitted at the hospital twice for dehydration and scoped a total of three times before my second surgery on 4/11. Luckily, all it took was to push my band up a little. Now, looking back, I still don't regret my decision. Although I'm still recovering from two surgeries now and have more pain and discomfort associated with last week's surgery, I'm so happy with my new band. I wouldn't wish what I went through on anyone, but I know it'll be worth it. All the guys at this site really helped me through perhaps THE roughest time in my life. For that, I will always be grateful.
21. :confused:I am new to the site and am scheduled for surgery in 1.5 weeks. I did my pre-op and am really second guessing whether or not to do this. I don't know if I am ready to be so worried about ..."did I chew that enough, is this too big of a bite, and is this going to get stuck." And I am really worried about getting in the healthy foods like whole grain food...which many seem to have trouble with and fresh fruits and vegi's, which I have also heard many struggle with. And how much can you actually eat in a sitting....a 1/4 C or 1/2 C or more???? I don't want to end up limited to canned fruits and vegis which have far less nutrients and processed meats instead of healthy cooked lean ones due to dryness, and no whole grains due to breads and Pasta and rice being troublesome. Can anyone shead some light on the fact vs fiction of all this. Also I heard on gal say that at family get togethers she eats after everyone else to make sure that she eats slow enough and thoughtful enough to not get that dreaded stuffed stoma feeling???? and, i am super paranoid of being able to feel the device during excersizes, like pilates or crunches or twists, and of course sex.???!!! thanks....

Xenadrine

I lost 4lb in a week a good few times and 3lbs a week on a regular basis not taking xenadrine . Try doing this journey without drugs.. the band likes to be in charge good luck !
23. Hello Fellow Sleevers!! I have been reading for a while but never really thought I had anything to say. I had my sleeve surgery on September 4. I had an allergic reaction to pain killers and was sick for a while. I proceeded to be sore from vomiting and very weak for my first two weeks. I followed my diet and drs instructions like a good little girl. On day 14 I started pureed foods and started having problem vomiting. It's been pretty steady and bad. Still felt weak. Frustrated. Fighting a depression. Wondering why? A few days ago I believe I turned a corner. My spirit is coming back. I have returned to work after 20 days. I am finally eating on a regular schedule. And being on a schedule has made it easier to drink more liquids. I am excited to get more gym time. I finally feel like myself. My husband said my confidence is coming back. That made me very happy. Just wanted to let you know that if you get feeling down because of lack of energy, nausea, or depression....just keep going and you can turn a corner too:)

Gas!

I was three days out but I wasn't sleeping on my side I was more so laying on my side for five minutes and then switching. It sounds weird but the thing that helped the most was being on my knees with a pillow tucked under my stomach and kind of going into a ball haha. My mom who is a nurse recommended me doing that and I thought it would hurt but it actually felt a lot better. Just do what you can tolerate though. It gets better!
25. I had my surgery one month ago. I lost like 22 pounds in two weeks, which didn't surprise me because I am a big girl but since I started on puréed foods in week three I haven't lost an ounce of weight. Is a two week stall normal in the first month. I am only eating two ounces of mushy proteins two times a day and my two protein shakes, between 400- 600 calories. Any suggestion? Should I go back to broths?
