Quite often after a large weight loss women need a lift with implants. It's quite common. A suggestion for you is to google/yahoo weight loss breast lift or weight loss mastopexy (the technical term). You might want to throw in the word implant. You should get quite a few hits and be able to see many pictures of before and after shots. I suggest you add the term weight loss because mastopexy is very different for someone who has lost a lot of weight.

Thanks for the response everyone. I'm 60 yrs old. Have fibromyalgia and on going problems with abdominal Hernias for which I've had several surgeries. Really thinking the probs I had before Christmas had nothing to do with band but was because after just having fill had couple Surgeon appts and all the poking and probing probably caused the stomach and abdominal pain. The Doc I saw in Emerge was not familiar with Bariatic surgery so deflated the band Just to be safe. I do journal everyday. Always walked anywhere from 30 40 min. Since Xmas I've been doing 45-50 min walking at gym. Sometimes 60but mostly 50-55. Just can't seem to understand why the weight loss just stopped ! Checked back in journal and during Xmas did eat more carbs and sweets but have never gone over calorie Limit which is 1250 for me. Mostly 950-1100. Also not sure I've ever reached sweet spot. Not sure i really know what sweet spot is. Started the 5 Day pouch test today. Fee,ing bit more encouraged . Hopefully this will help.

Hi everyone, Brand new to this web site. Am considering the surgery, but need to find out more about it. Am 65, 6' and 350. I am concerned about excessive skin after weight loss & what other problems down the road that they left out. Oh, i'm a male. Anything anyone could tell me about pros & cons would be greatly appreciated.

Hi all, Prior to having my band I did not tell anyone I was having surgery. I did not even tell my siblings or parents. Only my husband and 2 kids knew. I needed to tell my carpool since she has helped me with switching and taking care of my younger son until the older one got home from school to babysit. (I think I love her) and one other friend who I know will never tell anyone (my support system). I told those who needed to know I was having surgery that I had a hiatus hernia repaired and was embarrased to tell anyone (the reason for my secrecy). The hernia surgery turned out to be true since I had a hiatus hernia repaired. The weight loss is pretty slow and gradual and can be explained with diet and exercise. I guess they will all be shocked that I am finally succeeding. I am so glad I didn't blab. I don't think I could stand having every mouthful watched and commented on. However,I know it would have provided great gossip (I think most people would have seen it as that and not a life saving procedure). I know I can guide those seeking help in loosing towards the band without necessarily telling them about mine.

Approved and scheduled for Surgery 2/28/2011
InProgress replied to MelissaAnd's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I, too have been told not to lose too much weight. For my insurance the sleeve is only covered at a high BMI so I have to be sure to stay above that. It seems so counterintuitive! Luckily I don't have to gain anything but I'm not going at it (losing) hardcore either. Since I'm still down about 40 pounds from last fall I tend to justify my lack of "diet" now with that loss. Good luck! -

A girlfriend of mine also had surgery near the end of September, only she had the roux-en-y procedure. She said her holidays were pretty much like what you explained. We joked about it and I told her that I would eat all the "bad" stuff for her! We had a lot of fun with that. She said it helped make her stay more focused because she hated to see me have to go through all of that. It was very comforting! My family asked me who was going to cook next year, as I always make Christmas dinner. I told them that even though I will be limited on what I can eat and how much, that I still plan to make their dinner as special as always! I just might add a few items that I can have. So funny how people worry so much about food! I was one of them! The date is definetly coming up VERY fast! I am so excitied! Thank you and I wish you continued success with your weight-loss:)! -
I have been at the Chiroprapactor every other day this week due to a fall, first time since my surgery and the receptionist keeps saying how amazed she is and how "cute" I look. Of course I smile and say thank you, yet the first thing my head goes to is my wrinkely stomach and saggy thighs that make me want to puke. If only that forever skinny 23 yo really knew the hell I have been to, through and am in! I would not trade my weight loss for anything in the world except her body, but I the reality is I still don't forgive or love me.

As for what will happen, you'll get weighed, you'll discuss your medical history, your history of dieting and weight fluctuation and your weight loss goals, then the doctor will give a recommendation and lay out a plan for you. There will be several subsequent visits planned including a nutritionist/dietician, possibly an endoscopy and/or a psychiatric evaulation, and you'll need a pre-op physical. all of that should be reviewed in detail with you. If you've been hanging out here you'll have noticed by now that there can be very wide differences in doctor recommendations and requirements for pre-op and post-op diets as well as things like hospital stays. My suggestion is to browse through these forums and look at the questions that pop up over and over and over. Anything that comes up here frequently is something you're going to want to discuss with the doctor. A good doctor will give discuss everything with you in advance and give you handouts that will address most of the questions you'll have, but do not be afraid to ask anything, no matter how inconsequential you may think it is. Take notes while you're there. Just do your research and go in prepared. You may have different paperwork hurdles compared to those of us in America and other countries, but there's nothing that will be insurmountable. Good luck.

Am i done losing weight?
skinnygirlwithin replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm thinking stall too! its only been 2 weeks.. and you are near the end, so its going to be that much harder now... Someone i know was in a stall for almost 2 months as she approached her goal, she went back to basics... she did the pre-op diet for a few days, then started the post op diet, fluids, soft foods... this helped jumpstart her back to lossing the last 10 pounds... just a thought if you really wanted to shake things up... Congrats to you on your "loss"!!! -
I am a 1 year and 8 mos post surgery and have lost half my body weight. I'm about 15# from goal and have decided I NEED Brachioplasty. I can't stand my bat wings. People tell me that is the first thing they notice to lead them to beleive I had rapid weight loss. I'm curious if anyone can offer advice on the procedure. I live in Michigan. Does insurance ever cover these surgial procedures due to weight loss? I also know I need a TT and Breast Lift but the arms are so noticable. Thank you! Rebecca

I really hate the ones that say I have had family that has weight loss procedures done and they really messed up and died because they couldn't control their eating. What the hell!!! You know I have been doing research on this subject for about 6 months. People got to understand that we as people are all not doomed to failure. I am fully aware that If I don't follow rules of pre op and post op especially. I am opening a really big big can of worms. I know that I probably land myself back in the hosptial with a leak or worse.. I just don't get that people just can't be there for support. I talked with my boss and he told me that I should tell everyone at work. I just don't know if I am comfortable with this.. I just don't want to get back from sugery with a million of questions of people asking me if I am sick or dying..I Think I am going to write a letter the day that I leave and tell everyone at my plant so they will all know what is going on.. I have picked my best friends and I am going to tell them personally. They just don't understand that we don't really want their opinions we just want to be heard and understood.. Nothing more!!!

Hello All from Columbus, Ohio. How do I begin? I am Kim and I am happy to see others who joined this forum today have the same surgery date that I scheduled today. I think it will be wonderful to chat with each other and follow our progress. Anyone going to Tijuana for their surgery on 3/16/2009? I started researching lapband surgery 2 years ago and was just able to schedule my surgery for March 16, 2009. I am excited, anxious and now a little worried. I know I have made the right decision for me. As my Patient Coordinator said (when I told her I had recently lost 15 pounds) "this is a permanent weight loss". Hooray! Can it be true? She had just confirmed my 18 month dream of finding a permanent solution for weight loss and control.

Fear of not losing enough weight
Bufflehead replied to yasmineSF's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am very much afraid of all of those things and I use that fear to keep me following the rules that my surgeon and dietician laid down for me. I also read the posts here from people who are having trouble losing weight due to their poor eating choices, or dealing with re-gain, and I use those posts to keep the fear burning. Sometimes fear is a healthy thing. I am like you and also need to lose somewhere between 150-200 from my starting weight. My terror of not doing it has kept me on track and I am down 145 lbs so far. While I am afraid of somehow stopping losing, my rational brain knows that if I stay on track and follow the very rigid rules laid down for me, I will lose the weight I need to lose. So far my weight loss has been very steady and I feel like I am getting closer and closer to my goal. -
Is it Wrong to want to lick a Chocolate scented Candle? ;p
NicoleSW replied to SuzeMuze's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You're a lot nicer than I am! My surgery is 11/6 and I refuse to cook for anyone even at this point (liver shrinking diet). Not having kids probably makes that stance A LOT easier haha. My mom has a "Buttered maple syrup" candle and all I wanted was waffles or pancakes or French toast while I was at her house. The worst part is the scent invaded my hair and clothes and I had to smell it all the way home! Haha. I'm hoping I crave less after surgery! -
Had your lap band 3 or more years?
fabfatgrl replied to leelee0501's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I will have been Banded 6 years this June. I've been unfilled for 4 of them due to pregnancies. The amazing thing is that up until this last pregnancy, I was maintaining most of my loss without any fill!! I've never ever ever lost weight before the Band... ever. Like, maybe 5 pounds and that's it. The Band allowed me to lose 95 pounds (from 297) and keep most it off through 2 pregnancies. That rocks, as far as I'm concerned. The one thing I got sick of was the fill game, though. Paying for fills... paying for unfills. Seems like I'm still paying for my Band. Went through times when I decided I was just too tight, and wanted to eat more. Also, got tired of PBing... or having to worry about PBing in public. Always knew where all of the bathrooms were... kept baggies in my car/purse... etc. Even without a fill, I can still sometimes get stuck which is strange. Happens maybe 2-3 times per year. I'm going to try and refill my Band after this pregnancy and see if I can lose the weight I've gained. When I tried to refill it in-between pregnancies, it was just really hard to go back to the feeling of restriction. I think the post-surgery diet is a blessing, in that it gets you into that mindset. It's much harder 2-3-4 years down the road. If not, I think I will look at the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. No slippage... no GERD.... no erosion... though Port still works fine/looks fine. No nutritional issues/osteoporosis/etc. In general, I stopped hanging on boards at around 2 years post-op... unless I needed to find a fill doctor, or was just curious if any old friends were around. I think that's pretty standard for most Bandsters. -
TMI, embarassing re: TT/Panniculectomy
Julie norton replied to Heather I's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My doctor did a bit of Lipo there and the front area ( which seemed large in my work out pants)was pulled up during my TT. Ask your surgeon if that is included. I'm thinking it is common to have droopiness after weight loss. I was pleased with the results . Good luck! Ps. It hurt a bit ( ok a lot)the first week. Just know it gets better quickly as time goes on! Ok I guess we can say mons as in mons pubis.... That for me was kinda a fat pad that was changed during my TT . -
I am trying to drink my first protein shake. when do you typically notice weight loss. just curious not obsessed. I am trying to drink water not hungrey at all.

Thank you for the kind words... Surprisingly I am not grieving the loss of food, I think I got over it on all my pre op liquid diet...right now it's hard for me to even look or smell food because I have absolutely no appetite (I never thought I would complain about this) but it makes it hard to get my requires Protein and liquids in. What scared me now and is making me emotional is if I will ever will be able to eat what I need to eat so I don't become malnourished and dehydrated... These are the things that are really making me nervous right now plus being exhausted and weak all the time... I am doing a bit better today, I decided not to push blended food yet just because I am due for it (also this was recommended by my dr) so I feel like I am not stressing out about it as much today. I was able to get a pedi, do a load of laundry, go to grocery store and do dishes, now I am resting. Hope everyday I will feel better. I put on pair of jeans I wore before surgery, they were not tight before, but they are nice and baggy now so that was nice to see. I plan to go through my closet my tomorrow and check my clothes for what I can wear right now, hopefully I will have energy to do that.

Definitely sounds like blood pressure. Suggest you visit your doc for a check up. I am seeing my GP on Wednesday for exactly the same thing and am hoping to come off my last BP med. Good luck - it's a really encouraging benefit of weight loss.

Hey All, I am in the very early stages of considering Lap Band surgery. I am 33 years old, weigh 260, 5'6". Thankfully my BP is borderline / good (depending on the day) but I have had high cholesterol since high school and about a year ago, my liver enzymes went above normal (I do not drink and things such as hepatitis and other liver diseases were ruled out, and my liver ultrasound was normal, but it may be related to my weight). I am not on any meds. I also have a neurological disorder that I was born with. While I am mobile, my legs are quite weak, which means I have to be creative with my exercise. I've tried some dieting in the past, but have not had any long term success. Now my weight just keeps on an upward trend which sucks and I have a tough time with willpower. There is a strong history of cardiac issues / heart attacks on one side of my family and I am fearful of going down that road myself. If I do not get my weight under-control, my fear may become a reality!!! I also want to lose weight as I hope that will help to keep me mobile as long as possible. While my docs do not think that I will progress to needing a wheelchair do to my neuro condition itself, I am afraid that my weight might get to the point where that scale is tipped. I hope that I have a good shot of getting the insurance approval due to my BMI and also high cholesterol. I am going to an informational session next week (just signed up today)! My Mom had WLS last year (gastric bypass) and is doing great! I've been able to see her experience and how much it has benefited her but have also been able to see her struggles, so I feel that I have a realistic view of WLS and what I might be in for. So far, she is the only one that I have told that I am considering this, and she has been very supportive. I know that weight loss surgery is only a tool and in fact, it seems like in some ways it may be harder than regular diet and exercise alone, but I think that my health would really benefit from it in multiple ways! How did you all decide on the lap band versus other types of WLS? I am leaning towards the lap band because I am afraid of the "permanence" of the other procedures. (AKA, if something were to go wrong - even if risks are small - it could be reversed. I also have GI issues, so I really do not want to be messing around with my gut by getting a bypass). That being said, I do hope that the lap band will lead to positive permanent change!!! Any other advice??? I am sure that I will come up with many more questions down the road. I'll be back!

I am nearing my 1 year anniversary, and met my goal weight 2 months ago. I had a lot of stalls along the way, all of which I thought were the end of the world. But every time my weight loss started again. Every time! You have nothing to worry about, except of course following your diet. Keep up the good work, you have got this!

Josie! Thank you so much for your frank discussion and photos! I have curently lost 85 lb and am at the 60% weightloss goal. I have known for a long time I would need to have my "wings" clipped but was afraid of the cost! I think now I can use this remaining weight loss time to save for the brachioplasty! :-)
