I change up my Snacks super frequently because I get bored pretty quickly. I've found that the 100 calorie packs are a little too expensive for my liking. So I'll buy a few different things each week. When I get home, I open the bag (or box) and portion them out into individual ziploc bags. That way everything is portion-set per bag and I don't have to think about anything in the morning when I'm still half asleep getting ready for work. I just grab stuff from the fridge and pantry and get on my way. I also keep a few things at work because that's where I get into trouble (if I don't come to work prepared, I eat HORRIBLY). Like everyone else, fruits and veggies are good. You can go back to kindergarden and rock some ants on a log (celery with pb and rasins), chips are my weak point so I don't indulge in them often but there's one called pirates booty (think cheese puffs but healthier) and those are great. Nuts. Granola. My favorite part about my grocery store is the bulk candy/snack aisle because I can make my own "trail mix" with sunflower seeds, nuts, dried fruits, et al. I usually throw a few m&m's in there to keep my sweet tooth happy as well. Snak paks are good but like anything else, get old after a while. Cheeses. Yogurts. Veggie chips. If you have a sweet tooth... try getting low fat cinnamon graham crackers and fat free cool whip. Split a graham cracker in half, make a sandwich using the cool whip in between. Put a bunch of these in a tupperware container and freeze them. The graham cracker gets a little softer and the cool whip freezes so it makes a make-shift ice cream sandwhich. No lie, they're REALLY good. Don't know the calories or fat but it's not high and I seem to remember it being very low. Definitely nice to mix it up at night when you need something sweet after dinner.

I am just hungry, but like you said can't get much down. I'm so sick of cream soup I can't even begin to think about it, and that was the one thing that was keeping me feel full and satisfied. The protein shakes are making me want to puke. I'm basically eating sugar free yogurt, ice pops and ummmm, hate to say it but thats about it! Starting tomorrow I can puree some foods....so...not sure what the heck would be good pureed! Thurs. I can eat "minced food" which is really something to look forward to! Pretty much anything, well you know, within reason, chopped up really small. Exciting! I am starving right now, I must say.

You are lucky that you are moving onto stages of real food. I don't even get soup or yogurt until Thursday. I wonder what would be good pureed too? Can you puree a cheeseburger? Lol... yes, it's still on my mind. Can you eat cottage cheese? That is in my "soft foods" stage and I can't wait 'cause I love the stuff. I can't wait until I can start eating "real" meals again, though. I'm looking forward to week four of my diet because I can start eating soft fish! Yay Friday fish fry!

Am I the only miserable one?
smc124 replied to amylittlelbs's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m struggling right now too. I’m not regretting but wishing there was a fast forward. Like you I take adderall for adhd and had similar eating pattern before starting this process with not eating much during the day but then a huge meal in evening -often a take away when the adderall wears off. I’m having a bit of the opposite problem. I’m finding food really unappealing right now. Just looking at a piece of meat (especially grilled chicken and Turkey meatballs)or smelling it is enough to turn me off. I’m struggling to tolerate vegetables, I’m still experiencing nausea semi regularly. Worse than all of those things I have really low energy. I may be 60lbs lighter than I was 6 months ago when I had my first consultation with my surgeon but I the tiredness I feel 10 weeks out from surgery is as if I was still dragging that weight around. I try to be very active and truly enjoy excercise esp swimming and weightlifting which I do in the mornings but by 4pm the exhaustion strikes and by 6p it’s like the thought of getting out of bed let alone preparing dinner feels like a gargantuan task. I’m exceeding my Protein and hydration targets and feel like I’m following all the rules, the weight loss feels controlled and stable, but I now seem to dread eating and am dreaming of the days I’ll see my pre surgery energy level. So even know I remain positive about the outlook overall in future, real time feelings in the present moment are like you somewhat miserable. And you know what, I think it’s okay to feel that way and not pretend everything is great. The reality is change comes from struggle and rewriting a lifetime of psychologically treating food as a comfort or enemy, or indulgence rather than what it truly is - the fuel for our bodies - at least for me probably requires this misery to reset. Wishing you some comfort to cravings. One food joy I was able to find was creating a Greek yogurt topping bar, having previously never liked Greek yogurt this now is a bright spot in my food day. I hope can find at least one comfort like me. Early on I did also have mental craving for egg rolls and other normal foods so I think what you experiencing is probably normal - since you mentioned Chinese I’m linking to a recipe that satisfied that craving for me. You should be able to have it as soon as you are allowed veg. https://stylishcravings.com/low-carb-easy-make-egg-roll-bowl/ Again hoping you find comfort soon and if you ever need to vent feel free to message me. -
Hope I am not overfilled...
patsal replied to adagray's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got a fill on Wednesday that put me at 5cc in my 10cc band. Liquids trickled down for the first three days, then I was able to get some mushies down, I had to take really tiny bites. Today I was able to get soft meat down, a finely chopped salad and mashed potatoes. It still takes me about half an hour to consume a 6 ounce yogurt. I can feel the liqid trickle down in the early morning when I am tightest. I think I may be closer to restiction than I was before, but I do not want to count on being there and find I am not. -

What did you say you were going to do Pre-Op (so you wouldn't fail) that you didnt accomplish Post-Op
Kevbear replied to Running2theSleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 13 days post OP I ran on the elliptical today for 35 minutes, and have every day since I was cleared to at my post OP appt last Thursday I've also mixed in some light lifting....doc said as long as it didn't hurt in places it shouldn't I would be fine...no cruches I am the cook in my family, and cooked again the day after I got home from the hospital Truthfully. I wasn't even tempted. I felt so full just sipping Clear liquids the food I was cooking wasn't even tempting. I suspect you will have the same thing My biggest issue is Protein intake. The only way I can still get to my protein goal (for me, 100g a day, I'm a big guy...former college football player)!is through shakes (or Soups, but hot Soup in the middle of the day in the south in July...um...no). I was cleared for yogurts and then mashies when I felt comfortable, but I couldn't get down even half of a 100 calories yogurt. At my size and activity level that's nowhere near the calories or protein I need. It's like..I can feel slightly full on a 190 calories, 30 gram of Protein shake, or full to the top on 50 calories or yogurt I guess what I am saying is be prepared for a whole new food calculus. The way you think about food will totally change. You will be fine. I've lost 40 pounds since my pre-OP weigh in on June 26th. And 25 pounds since my surgery on 7/13. You can do it! It will be easier than you think -
My sister who was banded last summer was hungry from the get-go and couldn't wait to get her first fill. I knew from the forum that most do not feel restriction. I think I'm blessed like Jack. I really don't feel hungry (even when my tummy growls sometimes). Last night was the first I felt tempted, but I think it was only because I was tired of the sweet stuff like Jello, popcicles, yogurt. Took care of that by making a little beef/mushroom broth. Hit the spot and took care of that craving. I was also told to watch it with things like cream Soups and puddings as they are so high calorie. Congrats Jack on doing so well. Don't think I'll hit 20 by New Years, but maybe 15? another member of the 12/21 possee

How do you get un-stuck?
MingoLingo replied to k-statearmywife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, puking up around my dogs make clean-up so much easier as they love to recycle fresh puke!! I am a week banded and moving onto fat-free soups and FF yogurts and pudding and Protein Shakes made with FF milk, no fruits. Supposed to do this for two weeks and then I'm not sure what hell he has planned for me for the last two weeks. I am going out of town March 4th to the 8th and need to be eating fairly normal food by that time. No fill in the band, just the band. I have the REALIZE band. -
Never felt this depressed before
Supervixen116 replied to Rosy89's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hang in there, Rosy! I echo what everyone said about staying with liquids for a while. You've had a large portion of a major organ removed, and your body needs time to heal. Your new Baby Yoda stomach can't handle too much right now. I had a few tough days after the surgery mentally because I am so used to sitting down in front of the TV or with a book and snacking away. Or when bored, I used to automatically reach for food. Now that isn't an option, so I became quickly frustrated and went down into the "why did I do this" hole. After a few days of sitting down with a protein shake or Oikos Triple Zero yogurt instead, I'm starting to feel better about breaking my bad habits for good. And no regrets. I realized I have to create new, healthy habits. It took me about a week to turn the corner on that. -
Healthy Choice came out with a frozen Greek yogurt that is low in sugar and has Protein. I tried and loved the blueberry. It's pricy and only comes with three individual servings but it will work for me this summer when everyone else is having ice cream. The only trouble I have is keeping my hubby from eating the whole thing before I get to eat even one! :-) Chobani has 'Champion tubes' that is strained Greek yogurt made for kids. It has 80cals, 8g sugar, 9g carbs, & 5g protein. You can eat it on the go from the to be or freeze for a treat. I bought it but haven't tried it yet.

Food in Freezer, Ready for July 1 RNY!
latido replied to latido's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I did all of that in a day, and it all cost me $75. First, I cooked a 16 qt pot of fresh chicken Soup (from scratch - chicken + root veggies). I also added whole zucchini to the pot. Then, I also cooked huge batch of minced onions and let it simmer with a bit of oil until they were golden. I drained the onions of the oil and pureed it. I used it to flavor all of the purees. I used clear broth to thin out the dryer foods as I pureed them. I added almond milk and greek yogurt to everything so that I had the added Protein to compensate for the added liquids in the mix. Measure EVERYTHING before you put it into the blender. This way, you can break it down to portion-size calculations of its nutritional content. Here's two ‘recipes’ from my list: 31 2 oz. servings Mashed potato 4 large Idaho potatoes = 4 lbs.(64 oz) 1 cup Almond Milk 4 oz. Greek Yogurt, 0% 1 cup sauteed onions 14 4 oz. Protein Potato Broth 1 cup almond milk 2 cups mashed potato mix (see above) -
My first big "test" coming!
No game replied to Reigo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you stick with protein while traveling it shouldn't be to bad. Lunch and dinner just make it protein dense. Even for breakfast, I'd rather have a plain Greek yogurt, or an omelette? than cereal or protein bar... But for me those things are the devil I don't lose weight if I depend on them. -
Did everyone have to go on a diet before surgery?
WendyBlackheart replied to MissMe27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon requires me to me a 2 week liquid diet (His offices uses Optifast, which I actually really like - some of the bars are super tasty). I'm on my second day of full Optifast - 4 shakes and 1 bar a day, plus broth and jello if I want. I was also told I needed to lose about 10% of my body weight before surgery, so while I was doing all my pre-surgical testing, I was doing Optifast 'lite' (2 shakes a day, 1 bar, a meal consisting of 4-6oz of protein and 3 servings of veggies. (But no peas, yams or potatoes) I was also allowed 1 serving of fruit OR yogurt, and all the jello and broth I wanted. So far I lost 14lbs, and I expect to lose another 10 by my surgery date, which is almost the 10% (I started this all at 264lbs) I think that starting the diet before the 2 week liquid was a big help. I've cut back on most of my cravings, and I think its a good way to prepare for learning to eat well after surgery. The two weeks of liquid should shrink the liver and such to make the surgery easier and safer. Lol, I was doing so well on the Opti-lite, but as soon as they said to start on full liquid, I have a massive craving for a chimichanga! But its passing. -
How Long Do Stalls Last?
NCL04321 replied to CarmenG's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I agree with you!! I am so paranoid about eating too many calories and so i under eat! I am 3.5 months out of sleeve surgery and I think my body is in starvation mode. I'm going to try to up my calories to 600 and see if that breaks my somewhat stall. i was drinking a protein shake at night but i figured its like 160 calories before bed.....not sure if that is good for me. I drink it in the morning now as breakfast. Then i will have no fat cottage cheese or greek yogurt as a snack a couple hours after dinner. -
I don't even by sour cream now, my hubby just uses my greek yogurt and has no complaints!

This morning I was at the grocery store in the check out line, I began to unload my groceries onto the conveyor belt and the lady in front of me kept glancing at the items that I was putting on there. I was a bit self conscience at first because it was normal occurrence in the past for people to take a second look at the full buggy of food that I was purchasing. It was "normal" for me to be piling up the conveyor belt with things that aren't good for me and that helped to get me into the position I was 9 months ago right before I had my surgery. It was normal for me to have Cookies, chips, prepackaged foods like chicken nuggets, pizzas, lasagnas, then ice cream, candy, hamburger helper meals and a TON of sodas. But now, I am one of THOSE people that I felt self conscience around (although they didn't do anything to make me feel this way except for to make better choices in the food that they purchased) Today, my purchases consisted of fresh fish and chicken, lots of fresh veggies and yogurts. I chose to skip the chip, cookie and soda aisles and I am not missing a thing! (And as an added bonus, my grocery bill has gone down!) Woo-hoo!!!!

Almost 4 weeks post op and shoulder pain is back
pjd3253 replied to To be free's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my first post-op appt today - I am 10 days post-op - I am having same pain as you and he said it is gas pain and I need to take Gas X or Milk of Magnesia - I did not know it was from gas but now I do - It is not killing me but is very uncomfortable - maybe what I am eating is wrong but I am basically living on soups, cream of wheat, oatmeal, yogurt and protein drinks. Should go away eventually he said. I also have a lower back pain which is also related to gas. -
I was on my pre-op diet for two weeks which consisted of unlimited sugar free popsicles and Jello, broth, and one 8 oz. glass of skim milk, a low carb/cal. yogurt and 60 grams of Protein shakes. My one week post-op diet was the same minus the milk and yogurt. Today is the day I'm suppose to be able to eat cottage cheese, string cheese, tuna.etc.... for one meal, then go back to drinking Water and Protein Shakes for the rest of the day. Well..... I don't have any HUNGER!!!!! Nothing sounds good to me and the smell of food kinda makes me nauseous. I don't want to eat. I know I should, but? :confused1:ANYONE ELSE FEEL THIS WAY? Deb

One Thing Doc Said Today.....
Butterthebean replied to Justine13's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Any good surgeon will tell you not to rush. If you don't tolerate the next phase you are supposed to back it up a bit. The problems only come when you move ahead faster than you are supposed to. That being said, my doc had me on full liquids the moment I came home from the hospital, which was the day after surgery. Not everyone has to wait a full week. I was never told to puree anything, but rather to strain Soups and such. Grits, cream of wheat, yogurt and pudding where all on my approved list from the time I got home. -
It was very hard for me to eat at first. I did have low grade nausea for a while but it went away around the end of the first month. Don't worry about rushing, your poor little tummy has been through alot! It has been cut and stapled and has a lot of healing to do. My doctor had me on full fluids for the first two weeks and the only real food on my list was greek yogurt. I have noticed from other posts that different doctors seem to recommend different things. So just do what your body is telling you for now. If you aren't feeling better after the weekend, perhaps you should just give a call and see what the doctor says.

Where Are My Sleeve Twins?
Hopeful loser replied to sabbymomof3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Sept. 4th. So far, down 48 lbs, including the 15 I lost before surgery. I've been very fortunate so far, can tolerate most foods now except for milk. I seem to be lactose intolerant now, it upsets my stomach, but I do eat cheese. Can't do ice cream, but some frozen yogurt. I eat a lot of greek yogurt. Haven't really had any problems, just have to be mindful of how much I eat, still trying to figure out that one. About a cup of food total now is about right, sometimes too much depending on what it is. Still have to make myself not to drink for at least 40 minutes after I eat. I am very happy I had this surgery and very thankful I have not had issues with vomiting. -
Low fat plain kefir, fat free ricotta, combo pack of three Spanish cheeses, Ezekial Bread, bottled water, Greek yogurt, olive oil, spices, nuts, frozen fish. My favorite store!
