  1. Since surgery on July 17th I've went from a Big and Tall men's 48 inch waist to a regular 40 inch waist. From Levi's 559's (relaxed straight) to 505's (regular straight). Which is nice not only because it's a smaller, slimmer size, but also because big and tall clothes cost more than regular clothes.
  2. So I dropped by the gym I was going to prior to surgery ...and one of the trainers who previous worked with me and knew me was there and I was glad it was him.....I always liked him....very sweet kid...so picture it..good looking kid ripped asked "can I help you ma'am"? So I just stood there grinning at him....and I waited for it. Yes...the look of confusion...ah....there it was.....the look of recognition! And out came an O M G ...it's you...you look freaking amazing!!!!!!! Told him how much I lost, ect, ect....so that made my day!! The look on his face was priceless!

    Am I Losing My Mind?

You have made a big decision that will change your life for the better and make you a much healthier person. Try to focus on the future and not the past. Think of the things you will be able to do with your son that you amy have not been able to do if not for the surgery and try to think about the new you. I went window shopping before my surgery and tried to imagine what it would be like to wear that size. I actually bought something in a size 8 before my surgery, and it gave me so much incentive cuz I wanted to wear it so bad! Now it is too big for me! Try doing that. You won't have time after the surgery to think about the past cuz you will be busy making sure you are eating right and planning right. Don't feel guilty about where you have been, but feel inspired about where you will be. Look at some of the before and after pics on here, and imagine what yours will look like! And read some of the nsv's and tell yourself that will be you soon! When is your surgery? Best of luck to you. Keep us posted.
  4. I was getting dressed today and bent down to tie my sneakers. Legs perfectly straight. Bent over and tied my shoes. Didn't squat. Didn't bend my knees. Not sitting on the bed. Just bent over. Leaned a little further. I can almost put my palms flat in the floor. Not yet. But almost. With my legs straight. Made me realize that last night when I was out, I bent over the same way to pick up the darts I dropped. It the little things in life. Happy Saturday! Sent from my iPhone using VST
  5. Surgery was 9/20 and have been feeling well. We decided that since DH was leaving for Africa on Sunday we would spend the day together as a family at the fair in Waco TX. Our two grandsons (10 and 8) each invited a friend to join them. I wanted to be sure that my clothes would be comfortable for the day and chose a blouse tha5 I have not been able to wear in several years. I just realized that I really skipped this size as there is more cleavage showing than I have ever had. Means that I will be adjusting my blouse all day. Not a bad problem to have!
  6. My 19 year old son hasn't seen me since I had surgery two weeks ago. He came by for a visit while I was working in the kitchen today and said, "You look skinny, Mom." I was like WOW! It even brought tears to my eyes.....It's the simple things.

  8. When i bought my car in 07, i was embarrassed that i couldnt fasten the driver seat belt ( i didnt think to try it when i was checking out the car) so i had to buy an extender so i could wear the seat belt...uggh! well about 2 months ago, i tried to use the seatbelt without it, and i could fasten it, i was very excited but..it was very tight and i struggled to get the buckle to snap. This morning as i got in the car to drive my son to school...he asked me to try again..so i did...and it was easy breezy..and comfortable! NO MORE EXTENDER FOR ME!!!!!!!

    7 Weeks Post Op

Welp, I did better than last week and lost -3.1 lbs this week. I'm definitely starting to see patterns in my body, and how it reacts to things throughout the week. On Wednesday I weighed in at 185.6, today (only 2 days later) I'm weighing in at 187 lbs. I'll take a loss, no problem, but it intrigues me how my body bounces up and down a pound or two during the week. One of my healthier habits I've acquired since surgery, is weighing myself only once first thing in the morning when I wake up, and not doing so again until the next day. I use to be obsessive compulsive about weighing myself multiple times a day, praying I would see some kind of loss, if even a few ounces. By only weighing myself once a day, I feel like I'm seeing much better results and not dwelling on it as much. Things I also know that have been working for me are laxatives. On Monday I tried miralax dissolvable (pre-measured packets- love it) in my coffee and it worked wonders. On Wednesday, I tried a good old laxative pill and it worked wonders as well. So now I know that if my body needs a little push to dump the toxins out of my body I have options. I'm very wary of taking any laxative every day because your body becomes dependent on them, and I do NOT want that to happen. I've been fairly regular up until last week, so trying different things this week brought a lot of relief to my system, and my numbers dropped as well. I will say that my biggest NSV to date happened today. I have about 20 pairs of jeans ranging from size 16 to size 8. About 3 weeks ago I was able to squeeze into my size 12's that have been getting looser and looser. Today being Friday and jean day at work, I decided to reach for my prized (slightly expensive, but fabulously fitting) size 10 jeans just to take an assessment of how they fit and how much farther I have to go. I put them on, and to my shock and amazement- they fit. Perfectly. No muffin top either. I went and looked in almost every mirror of my house just to make sure I wasn't hanging out or fooling myself. Nope- they fit! I felt overwhelmed with emotion this morning, over a pair of jeans. It's been YEARS since I've worn them, and even then I remember the last month or so I was able to wear them, I was wearing spanx and girdles trying not to bulge out thanks to the evil muffin top! After I got in my car, got my son to school, and just started thinking- I went into a Zen like state. I just felt like everything was going to be okay. I don't know what my all-time ultimate goal weight will be, or when my body will stop losing weight, but right now, the feeling of having my beloved size 10's fit me, is enough to praise God and count my blessings. I love my sleeve! Non-Scale Goals

Well, winter is coming to the Pacific northwest! Which means SNOW! So, this winter my nsv will be to get up to the mountain and strap on that snow bord and hit the slopes. Any one else plan on going up to the mountains this year?
  13. @15k, my pulmonologist sent in an order to adjust my range. Currently 14-8. And have it switched to an auto adjust so that as my weight drops and with physiological changes the pressure will adjust accordingly. The bi-pap is amazing. I had a cpap yrs ago and had a lot of trouble. Went to a new pulmonologist and she told me about the bi-pap. How the pressure is greater when you breathe in and less when you breathe out. Making it feel more like normal breathing on the exhale. I found it to be much more comfortable. And this self adjust mode is amazing too. Very handy for dramatic weight loss situations. Though I miss the quality of sleep, I may have to play it safe and wait a little bit, days, and let my healing progress. I think this all may have set me back a bit. This, too, is near the top of my list of goals. 1st NSV, lower my weight to decrease the chances of my cancer returning and 2nd NSV, get off this machine, for good!!!

This is truly an NSV! CONGRATS!
  15. Had my last weigh in today and so glad to finally get the 7 months over with. Feeling run down now after finally being able to exhale and flu and pneumonia shots and blood work. Just from pre op diet doctor already reduced the dosage of my blood pressure medicine and said I don't need to take my cholesterol anymore because the levels are not that too bad where after surgery I would not need it anymore. YAYYYY NSV
  16. NSV- People are starting to notice ( without knowing I had surgery) that i'm losing!

  17. lisalani what a great NSV - must be so happy that you can be more independent - walking, shopping. Betcha can walk, rub your tummy, and chew gum at the same time keep up the great work
  18. I am SO happy! I just got home from my 6 month check up. I am down 88 POUNDS!!!! I am Thrilled! I absolutely LOVE my sleeve! Twelve pounds away from loosing 100 lbs.!! I have never been able to loose that much weight. Ever. I am so thankful fort he sleeve. This surgery is a life saver! I had a HUGE NSV last month. I have not been able to go to the grocery store with out using the electric scooter for over 2 years. Since last month I have been able to use a regular grocery cart and shop on my own sans kids for the help. I can't believe the change I have made. I can walk and shop again!!!!In August I had to go on an airplane. I DID NOT need a seat belt extender! Life is getting so much better! I feel so blessed! I only wish I could have done the surgery a decade (or more!) ago!
