Hello Am In Five After Surgery Am Doing Well Besides The Lower Back Pain That I Have,
MinaT replied to lapropia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use myfitnesspal.com I have to take 4 optisource vitamins a day and I'm not good at remembering them. (seriously this will be tmi but I'm tired of orange pee and orange water coming out of both ends). I also have lower back pain, which I have never had before, I use an ice pack and that seems to help. Walk, sip, take Gas X and it will help. It's a good idea to start keep tracking of liquids, protein etc. now. -

Hey gang, long time no talk! I had a worrisome thing happen last night that I need feedback on. I'm down quite a bit, and I know at home I've had to adjust my cpap range downward. I hadn't adjusted my travel CPAP because I can't do that myself. Up through last month, it wasn't an issue that that was operating at a higher pressure. Last night, though, was using it in my hotel room and it just felt almost overwhelming suddenly, but i just went with it. I however, woke up in the middle of the night with my stomach hurting. I had a lot of air in me, I presume maybe from too much pressure? I stopped using it for the rest of the night and was better by am, but I had to (TMI) get a lot of that air out of my system, one way or another, in order to feel better, and even now, my tummy feels achy. Do you think I could have hurt my stomach with that at 5 months out? Should I be calling the doc? I probably will anyway, jsut to be safe, but I wanted to ask if anyone who had been on cpap ever had this happen. I know the very first night out of surgery that I was not allowed to use my CPAP to protect my stomach from injury, but I would think at this far out... anyway, any experience sharing would be great!

I know I havent been posting that much lately but I have been feeling some kind of something for a few weeks now but it seems in the past week since I have been dealing with a Sinus infection and ear infection It is worst. I have taken NSAIDS as my gyobyn said it was ok, and today I got a shot of steriods with a prescription of Prednisone to start in the morning. I have taken Advil this past year, and just this week been taking a nasal decongestant and Mucinex for cold and flu. Ok so now to what I have been feeling. I get a pain in my pouch at least once a week, I mean bad pain that I usually go all day with. Eating and drinking does not make it better, but then I go to bed wake up and its gone. Now the past week, and definately today, I am getting a burning pain every time I eat or drink, and when I drink, It feels like my pouch is filling up like a balloon and is going to pop. I have been getting a tiny bit nauseous starting today when eating or drinking, and real burpy and my stomach acid in my stomach is like non stop almost. I have also noticed a change in my bowel movements. Sorry TMI!! but i was going regular regular sometimes 2-3 times a day, but the past week or so I have noticed not so much and each time they are getting harder and darker and darker. In which I had noticed I have been having trouble losing weight since June. I havent lost one single pound i have actually gained. I weighed 180 June 1st and today I weigh 185-187. I am one year post op gastric bypass 10.29.12 and had gallbladder removal 12.29.12, and a complete hysterectomy 05.02.13. Any ideas would be nice. Rhonda

Plain yogurt = *gag*... Help!
facorsig replied to MamaTo3inNH's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Eating Greek yogurt is one of the topics I share with others about this lifestyle. I started to eat Greek yogurt on the advice of a health coach about two weeks before my pre-op diet. I detested it. I mixed in chocolate Protein powder, but the sourness was strong and it was like gagging with every spoon. After a month, I stopped gagging, but really hated it. I found I had tried so many brands hoping to find the one.....and I did.....Lucerne. It is the cheapest plain Greek yogurt. I had tried organic ones and ones with bigger brands or better packaging. I think Lucerne is a local, Texas brand. I must say while I don't like plain Greek yogurt, it has become a staple. I attribute some reductions in flatulence volume and toxicity to the yogurt (sorry if this is TMI). It remains on my doctor prescribed diet even after the Protein Powder and so many other things have gone away. I go through a 2# tub each week for $3.45. I don't shop at chains other than Randall's because other chains don't sell this brand. To me, it was part of the lifestyle change I needed to make, and I made it successful. -
Post op day 5. Feeling so much better. Not using the pain meds anymore. Stil some discomfort but nothing crazy. Biggest issue has bee making sure I get in my 60 grams of Protein. Still have gas pain and have not really had a bm (tmi I know ) since the day prior to surgery. Taking colace and going to start Fiber supplements. Any suggestions thanks everyone.

Read At Your Own Risk...it's About Bms
Wheetsin replied to SexySlim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry about it too much. Which kind of laxative did you take? Some can draw fatty material into the bowel. You might have just been expelling some of it. Could it have been mucus? That's also fairly common to see with a laxative or odd bowel movement. Like you, I've never been that regular. When they were telling me "no more than 3 days without a BM" I was like... I don't necessarily go every 3 days now pre-op... are you kidding? My first one post-op took about a week, then about 4 days, then another 4 days. Then nothing, and nothing, and it's been 2 weeks and nothing... I took Miralax and Benefiber, both with Splenda-based apple juice. On the 2nd day I had a large, hard BM. On the 3rd day I had what I would call "pudding" stool x2. After the second one I had a LOT of gas and a LOT of mucus. A LOT. I didn't look at what came out, so I don't know if it looked anything like what you had (I don't even know if it came out with, or just after). But I could imagine a mucusy stool might have a fatty look to it as well. Aren't our bodies wonderful?? (sorry if the above is TMI, but sharing info doesn't help much if it's censored or euphamized). -
I'm 5 days out, on a clear liquid diet. And starting this morning, any time I drink something that isn't plain water, I end up running to the bathroom and being in there for awhile emptying out. Sorry if TMI. I just hurt so bad. I had some broth at lunch, almost instantaneously it seemed to go through me. Whats the deal?

I got my hair done and my woohoo sugared (sorry if TMI) today. Might get mani pedi this weekend but no polish on the nails. I will shave my legs the day before along with the special wash they gave me for day before and morning of surgery. I don't want to have to deal with any maintenance for awhile after surgery. -
I had my sleeve placed this past Wednesday I came home Thursday. I started cramping and now I have something like a light cycle but I just had one on September 9th. Did anyone else go through this, I hope its not TMI But they took a pregnancy test before surgery and it said negative. So could it just be the stress of the procedure? Order My Steps Dear Lord...

liquid diet bathroom issues
zeniada replied to jingleboob's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Here i thought i was the only one drinking Isopure and it looking the same way coming out as it did in (i know TMI) i'm not on a liquid diet but a low carb diet but i still have bathroom issues...and here i am eating lots of fiberous foods oh well just another step of the journey. -
I only had that problem one time after taking some miralax (sp?). I hadn't taken care of my business in a few to many days, so I mixed the recommended dose in some Water per my doc. I spent the next 24 hrs with a gurgling gut but no progress... The next morning I got off the couch and did the manly celebration of a good fart aka lift leg high and aim it... oops it wasn't just a fart... Did I mention we don't wear clothes in our house? Thank god for hardwood floors... TMI? Sent from my mobile productivity killer.

Tomorrow I will be 2 weeks out from surgery. I am doing great and have gone from 227 to 205 in 13 days! Since I have had this surgery, I don't have a BM often. The last two times I did, I had horrible cramps and what appeared to be diarrhea. Several trips to the bathroom today. Several trips last Tuesday. This is making me miserable. Is this the "norm?" I didn't sign on for this part of the surgery LOL

No Energy - Started My Period:(
missymobaby posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, as the title says, I started my period over the weekend. Sorry if it's TMI but it's facts. I have absolutely NO energy and I am 12 days post op. I am so sick of protein shakes, soup, sf jello and sf popsicles I could scream! I go to Dr. on Friday for my 2 week post op and i'm supposed to get moved to mushies then. Surely that will help! Wont it? I'm really having second thoughts on what I have done to myself. I want FOOD so bad! I am not a good one to go without food while on my period at all. Any one have any suggestions or even words of encouragement? A lady down the hall who knows about the surgery said I look like I'm melting cause I've lost weight. I don't know how much because I don't have a scale at home but I hope she's saying that being true and not just trying to perk my mood. Hate this:( Just want to whine and cry but i can't because I did this to myself. -
THANK YOU to whomever invented lapband! My sex life with my partner was never dull..never same ol same ol....however now! Holy Moly! Fanfreakintastic! He likes to call it "mad passionate porn sex" haha!

Tmi, But Hoping Some One Can Help !
irshangel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok, I'm sorry if anyone gets grossed out by this, but I need to know if anyone else has gone thru this. This morning after getting up for work, I went in the bathroom and was having a BM that turned into diarrhea, that then turned into sweating, shaking and feeling really sick to my stomach. I then began to vomit, but it was just dry heaves and spit coming out it was about 10mins of this. It had been at least 12 hours since I had eaten anything, and what I had for dinner was the same thing I had the night before with no problems. Just wondering if any one else experienced this, I was really upset and scared that something was wrong. -
I can't eat the whole bag. I like the bbq best. I eat them if I am craving something crunchy or sometimes pills get stuck in my throat so I use them to get the pill down. I am not sure why I have that problem, but I have actually caused erosion in my esophagus from the pill disolving in my esophagus. Very painful! TMI I know, sorry. But the crunch os are a good replacement for chips as well:)

I don't have a card and wouldn't use one if I did -- for some reason it just seems "TMI"-ish to me and kind of makes me twitch. That said, I don't hesitate to order an appetizer instead of a full meal, or share with my DH, or order off the kids' menu. California Pizza Kitchen has a great grilled chicken breast and broccoli item on their kids' menu, and I just say "I'm on a very strict diet and would like the kids' grilled chicken," and they take my order without a problem.

I'm almost 2 weeks post-op and I have had that too. Smells bad (sorry if that's TMI), especially in the morning when I wake up... Sometimes, it feels like no matter how much I brush my tongue (using my Orabrush) and my teeth, I just can't make it go away, but mints do help! I got some medicated ones (TheraBreath: Mouth Wetting Lozenge) from CVS. Maybe they'll work for you too... It's so encouraging learning that this means I am burning fat! Thank you so much for sharing that!

Surgery is set for this Wednesday 8/14. TMI here but I just got to shout it out! I NEVER thought I would be so dang excited that I started my period TODAY!! Cramps suck since I cant take Motrin but I'm beyond thankful at this point. Even if I am still having my period Wednesday, it will be on the end point. Woohoo :-D
