Let's be thankful and greatful for these beautiful bodies that carry the real us...wich is our spirit's. Light & Love to all on this journey and it is a JOURNEY not a DESTINATION!

  6. Back from vacation and gained 1.6 pounds.. Most likely lots of water weight my hands and feet are swollen. Hopefully this will drop off quickly, and I will be back on track. Wonderful vacation and I arrived home to another blizzard...

  7. Getting back on track. Being miserable and regretful of my weekend weight gain was getting me nowhere. Onward and upward.

  8. I had the surgery May 28th. I have been eating normal foods now for the last 3-4 weeks, and will get my first fill in 2 weeks. I can eat now like before surgery , except that I have to be very careful to chew and chew and not swallow anything to big as it is really uncomfortable when it gets stuck. This slows me down and I usually get tired of eating before my plate is empty. And my food gets cold! I started this process at 300 lbs a little over a year ago. I went into surgery at 285 lbs, partially from the 2 weeks of liquid diet prior to surgery required by my doctor. Another 2 weeks of mostly liquid diet and then mushies after surgery got me down to 277. I have been able to keep my weight to under 280, but was wondering if I should have lost more, or do most people gain weight before the first banding? One very positive about this process so far is that food has lost its attraction to me. All the work of being careful to eat only soft foods, and chewing it to death, and the anxiety of swallowing something not chewed enough and the ensuing pain almost makes you long for the liquid diet days, when everything was so simple.
  9. I am 2 yrs going on 3 in February post op. I lost a total of 60 lbs in the first year but re gained 45lbs that's a lot. In that time I went through a separation, relocated to a new state and fell back to my old eating habits this is hard to admit but I need help again. I'm working on eating better however I need help, tips how do I start my weight loss again. BTW does anyone else feel hungry all the time?
  10. Okay so I have Aetna insurance and I am doing the three month program. I am currently on month 2 (about to be on month 3). In November (first month) my nutritionist weighed me in at 270lbs. I have also been seeing an exercise therapist that also weighs me and in November she weighed me in at 271lbs. At the very beginning of December my exercise therapist weighed me in at 271lbs. I just had my second nutritionist appointment today 12-22-10 and she weighed me in at 280lbs! I've gained 9lbs in December! Yes, I am definitely going to blame it on the holidays. I have been to SO many Christmas parties and it's just hard. Now, I know I can lose that 9lbs by my next and final nutritionist appointment which will be in January. However, I am just a little worried that my insurance company (aetna) will see that 9lbs weight gain and deny me. I mean, I AM going to lose it by my next nutritionist visit and be at my original 270lbs. I am just worried about insurance. So my question is, has anyone gained weight during their weight-loss program but then lost it to be back down to their original level and still got approved? Thanks!
  11. are There option after. Surgery to help you with weight gain?
  12. Hi I am new to this forum & had my lap band on 11/16. I have faithfully followed my diet instructions & am disappointed. I weigh 4 pounds more today than when I left for the hospital Fri. morning. Is that normal? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. I am one year post op and am gaining weight. Too much evening snacking and love of sweets. Looking for help to break this cycle or turn it into something healthy. Fortunately, I also do like popcorn and apples. I will try to start keeping low carb snacks on hand and less 'diet' candybars!
  14. So I'm not off the rails by any means, but struggling to get even a few lbs off. I'm 2 yrs & 8 months post VSG. And 4 months post LBL. Up until my LBL I'd consistently maintained a 130 lbs weight loss. Maintaining that loss was not without effort. My diet in check, track everything I eat, exercise 6 days a week. Immediately after LBL I feel like a switch got flipped. My weight bounced around a bit with the expected weight loss with my skin removal (which was minor as it truly was just skin being removed) and then the expected gain with swelling and of course lack of activity while I recovered. Nothing that concerned me. But now I'm up 7 lbs and I can't seem to shake it. I've locked down my eating, increased my water intake, I've been back to previous amount of cardio for over two months, I'm keeping a tight control on sugar and carbs which is much harder these days, getting in all my protein and still the scale isn't moving. It's like my body is intent on holding onto the extra weight. What gives!!!! I feel like if my calorie intake goes above 1,000 a day, I gain weight which is crazy. I was able to maintain eating 1200-1400 a day before. I know it's just 7 lbs, but 7 becomes 10. And fear of returning to old habits and regaining weight is always top of mind with me. I'm sure I'm not alone. Hoping this is just part of the recovery.
  15. I am going to get banded on April 21st (supposed to be on April 7th) :glare:; however, the ENT put me on Prednisone for 10 days due to chronic sinus infection. Will I gain weight using the steroids for 10 days? Thanks,
  16. Got on the scale today and I am up 4 pounds from last week!!! CRAP!!!! Is this normal, does this happen, how can I not freak out about this?? ???? My brain is going crazy with a million thoughts. Did I stretch my pouch, can I eat more than I should, is this my fault from eating something a little too calorie high? Did I not exercise enough? I feel like I want to cry
  17. Hello all. I am still doing my two week post op liquid diet and I read some people say they gained weight after getting back on solid foods. Is this a common thing? I have lost ten pounds and am so scared to gain it back once off liquids. Have some people just kept losing during the transition?

  19. I'm considering getting banded (yay me!) But my body can be very frustrating some times, most recent example was gaining 8+ lbs in the span of 3 days (not it's not Water weight.) So it sparked the thought - I'm not sure how I'll handle GAINING weight after being banded. I'm curious if anyone gained a significant amount of weight in the first year and how much? Did you get it back off again? Thanks for any feedback!
  20. I just researched some of the medicine I am still on and the say they cause weight gain. I am 3 weeks post op and now scared to death these meds are going to slow me down in my weight loss journey. My goal is to be off all my meds as the weight comes off but until then is it sabotaging my weight loss? Does anyone else have this concern?

Got on the scale and it said I gaine 3.7 lbs. in 1 week since last weigh in...anyone have did happen? I did not deviate from my diet seems odd. Out of 22 weeks I have gained weight in only 4 weeks usually lose between .5 - 2 lbs per week! thanks, Rob
  22. I am having a really hard time and just wanted to express how I was feeling to people that understand. I'm almost 6 weeks pregnant and couldn't be happier, except for the weight gain thing. I haven't finished losing my weight and right now I'm terrified. I had to get completely unfilled, no morning sickness, but it's as if the moment I conceived my band became too tight. I was getting stuck with EVERYTHING I ate. I have already gained 4 pounds. I know that doesn't sound like a lot, but I'm freaking out. I have been so hungry, I wake up needing to eat something. his morning I had an anxiety attack and I can't do this, it's not healthy for me (or the baby)to be so stressed about my weight. I'm trying to relax and calm down.... How did you guys accept this, or did you? :smile2:
  23. I need any and all advise. I am 9 months post op. I lost 35 pounds and then nothing! I haven't changed my eating habits and even with fills I've stopped losing weight. I walk approximately 10,000 steps a day. No carbs. Has any one else experienced this? If so what should I do to boost my weight loss again? I was thinking to only do protein shakes for a couple days but not sure.
  24. I was banded last Friday and am surprised by the amount of pain I am in - I decided to weigh myself today and found that I had gained 1 1/2 pounds even though I am eating at the most 3 Protein shakes a day and Water. I decided today to stop using the pain medication prescribed by my Dr. I(in case it was increasing my constipation) even though I still feel very sore, especially when I lie down or get up from a lie-down position. I haven't been able to have a bowel movement and am wondering if that is increasing the soreness I am feeling. I started to take Colase (stool softener) and today I took Correctol but still no luck. I'm sort of ranting today - feeling uncertain about what to expect and whether this is normal. All I know is that I hurt, am constipated, have no hunger, but am gaining weight. Oh yeah! The other thing is that I am on an Insulin Pump and I haven't needed to add any insulin since this started which means the pump is giving me about 70 units a day spread out over 24 hours. Prior to getting the banding, I was using about 300 units a day and still had uncontrollable blood sugar levels.
  25. My surgeon requested that I not gain more than 5 lbs prior to getting my bypass. I’m still a month out and noticed that I’ve gained 10 lbs since my last appointment. Has anyone else experienced weight gain prior to their surgery date? I have been lenient with my food choices recently since I will be starting the pre-op diet on 4-16...and know my future diet will be very constrictive. I am actually thinking of starting the pre-op diet sooner to counter the weight gain I’ve experienced. I’m curious to know if others have experienced these issues! Thank you in advance for any advice you may have!
