Okay I was talking about this with my friend and she didn’t have weight loss either but was losing hair and her hairdresser suggested a vitamin Moerie that is for hair growth. She said she tried the collagen peptides for over a year and they did not work for her but this vitamin is actually working. They sell it on Amazon.

Hi Me again! So I am noticing that I am losing 1.5-2lbs a week last couple of weeks, I had surgery 1/24 for Gastric Sleeve so I am 14 weeks post op. I have lost a lot of weight fast in the beginning so I am assuming that's why its slowing down? I am incorporating a lot of exercise now including weights so maybe that's why too? I am trying to get into the mind set that I am focusing on how I feel and not so much what the scale says. Just want to make sure this is normal? Weight when I entered the bariatric program: 297lbs Surgery Day Weight: 266lbs CW: 205lbs GW: 170lbs

Getting your hair professionally colored?
Elizaventy94 replied to jacquelynn22's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I also colored my hair not too long after surgery and was concerned when I started noticing some hair loss. It’s reassuring to hear that it’s normal and not related to the coloring process. I'll definitely check out that YouTube video you linked for more info. I've been using Virgo de Novo styling products, and they’ve really helped keep my hair healthy and vibrant despite the coloring. I think their products are fantastic for anyone looking to maintain their hair post-surgery. -
Treated myself to new hair!

Love it! 😃 suits you! I got my hair chopped and coloured (boring blonde though, no funky cool colours haha) whilst off work recuperating. It made me feel like, Yep, this is the start of a new phase! Enjoy your new do, you look awesome! -
2 years exactly since my sleeve and my hair is the worst ever ,my hairdresser gently told me she'd have to cut it short as the ends were like fluff ! bald patches, shedding , hair all over the house and pillow .My sister why my hair was receding at the front ? like her bald husbands ! I take Biotin gummies and use Biotin shampoo .Nothing is stopping this hair loss .I despair :(

1 1/2 years out serious issues
BlondePatriotInCDA replied to Kat's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Wow, I seem to have a good portion of those symptoms, especially "was snapping at everyone and I had a general unwell feeling and I started to get back pain" Then my blood pressure dropped low. Along with extreme fatigue and hair loss. I have all of the above. Thank you for sharing, I think I need to bring this up when I go in for my check up. Thank you! I really hope you start to get better soon! -

You look great ❤️ I made sure to get my hair dye before surgery since I know it'll be awhile before I will be up to doing it again, and I'm gonna have my friend do French braids the day before so i feel cute in spite of things lol -
All protein is now gross
summerseeker replied to zeskyizblack's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry to say this but you will either loose hair or you won't. There is nothing you can do about it. Its a fact. Muscle is a different matter, protein does help there. I had a super fierce restriction due to swelling. I had to eat tiny meals about 8 times a day. I split my 3 meals into little pots and as a grazer this may be a way forward for you. I struggled to make my 60 gram protein quota. I survived, and eventually so did my hair. Look for protein yogurts in the supermarket. A 200 gram yogurt will have 24 grams of protein in it. They were a game changer for me. -
My husband did not have surgery but he has normal male hair loss and he used nioxin and said even his hairdresser noticed how well it works. You really do have to wash it everyday though.

I wouldn't say extreme but once my hair stopped falling out and started the growth phase I did notice my scalp is itchier and I sometimes see dandruff, which I never suffered from before. I recently switched to an oat milk based shampoo which seems to be helping with the itch. My hair is really annoying me as it is coming back thick (which it was before) but with a curl/kink to it so the crown part where so much regrowth is happening is all thick, puffs up and out but then the longer parts are thin. I asked my hairdresser to cut it all short a few weeks ago and she refused as she said it has such a kink to it that it would look worse shorter and I just have to try and brave it out another few months.
-
ah, me too! my regrowth came back with a curl to it. but i LOVE it, it makes my hair look thicker than it really is. i'm 6+ years out now, so my whole head is now wavy (instead of just the top). hang in there, and just wait it out...you may love it just as much as i do.

Does your pre-op diet weight loss "count"?
NickelChip posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm almost 9 weeks post-op and trying to figure out if I'm on track. I started my 2 week diet at 239 and was 223 the day before surgery. Since surgery, I am down to 204. (So much slower since surgery!) Here's where it gets tricky. If my goal weight is 155 lbs and I use my starting weight from the day I began my 2 week diet, I had an 84lb weight loss goal and am currently at around 41% of excess weight lost. But if I use my day of surgery weight, I had a 68lb goal and am at only 28% lost. This feels like a big difference. I've seen some sources say count your weight loss during the immediate pre-op diet, and others say no, don't count it. Are there any actual rules, or is everyone just making this stuff up as they go? -
i "co-wash" (wash hair with conditioner and rinse well) at every shower (then apply leave on conditioner after shower). i wash with volumizing shampoo maybe every 3-4 days. and i'll use clarifying shampoo maybe every 2-3 months (usually just before i henna my hair) this works for me as i have relatively healthy scalp and hair. someone with hair that leans oily may find extended co-washing makes their hair look limp and more oily. and someone with a flaky scalp may find the flake build up from not shampooing get kinda ick. in which case maybe shampoo more often?

I still have an itchy scalp, it drives me crazy. I am regular at the hair salon asking for a lice check. [ I know her well] I now have to buy extreemly expensive, lightweight shampoo to calm it. I put the dryness and dandruff down to a lack of greasy, oily foods in my diet. They make me dump. Never thought it could be surgery driven

January 2025 Surgery Buddies!
DaisyChainOz replied to Melissa💖💜💙's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am getting frustrated with the slowness of loss. I had the sleeve on 16th of Jan, and initially lost 4-5 kg very quickly, then the last two weeks, I have lost only 1.7kg, (3.5 lbs) I know it can happen, that the body can retain water and it’s not reflecting the loss. I am just venting my frustration. I tried eating more 800-1000 cals last week, nothing, exactly the same weight for 6 days, then a minuscule 100gm loss. It's been frustrating! -

Congratulations on your spectacular weight loss! You look great, and must feel healthier too -
So sorry you are experiencing this @fed-up. Have you seen a dermatologist who specialises in hair loss issues? There may be something else going on. What are your blood work results like? Have you had your hormone levels checked?

A huge fan of Zepbound!
Crisscat replied to xoxoMeli's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
I have been on Zepbound since Feb 2024, I have lost an additional 72 lbs while on this drug. More weight loss than my gastric sleeve. I lost about 52 lbs from that. I am on a higher dose now but have been steadily on it for the past 3 months without upping the dosage. It is not a dramatic loss but steady and Im good with that since I was at a complete stall of weight loss after the sleeve -
Temporary hair loss is very common after surgery. Your body is going through a lot is stress: the surgery, reduced food intake, weight loss, anaesthetic, hormonal flushes & changes, etc. The result is a temporary acceleration of your natural hair loss cycle. It actually can occur after child birth, periods of extreme stress, other more major surgeries, etc. The hair you are losing is dead & you were going to lose it anyway just not as quickly. You can’t stop it. Or slow it down. Some people will suggest adding additional supplements but this period of hair loss still lasts about 4 month -/+ regardless of taking the additional supplements or not. Those supplements won’t help hair that is already dead. As long as you’re taking the vitamins your team recommends & are meeting your protein & other nutritional goals, you don’t need to do anything else. Your new hair is still growing just at its usual rate & it is only this new growth that may benefit from the supplements. How much you’ll lose is very individual & you can’t predict it. You may lose more if it’s summer (when we usually shed more hair) or if you are in your 7 year hair shedding cycle (just went through mine again & was losing a lot more than usual). Try cutting off some of your length if you have longer hair. Many of us do this so the new growth reaches the length of the old growth more quickly. And shorter hair is always bouncier & looks fuller than long. I decided some temporary hair loss is a small price to pay for the benefits of your weight loss. Oh, and try not to stress too much - it only adds to the stress your body is already under which influences the hair loss. PS: You can update your weight by scrolling to near the bottom of this page. You’ll see a section titled Together we have lost… Add your current weight & click Update Your Weight. It will display the next time you start a thread or respond to a post.

Weight Loss with SADI-S Revision after Sleeve
travlrmel posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I had the sleeve in 2016. I lost about 30 or so pounds, which I have since regained. The sleeve was not very successful for me. On Monday (8/21/23), I had the SADI-S DS surgery. The doctor said that weigh loss will be slow. I am just worried of failing again. If anyone else had had the SADI-S revision, I would like to hear positive stories to inspire me and know that it is really possible this time. Thanks! Melody
