Hi! My packing list is super small. comfortable socks; compression socks: wireless bra; heating pad. Same clothes for arrival and leaving. Pillow for car seat belt pressure. For the liquid diet; I am allowed sugar free items like pudding and jello. I love pineapple too! I got Pedialyte popsicles and made some homemade yogurt popsicles too. Homemade cream (yogurt) veggie soups help a lot with hunger! On my clear liquid it’s broth, I made 3 types for variety , vitamin water sugarfree, Gatorade, sugar-free Popsicles, and Jell-o, as much as I want. The doctors are very big on staying hydrated so that’s my main focus. Very wise to stock up on meds! -
Lansoprazole and hunger?
NeonRaven8919 replied to NeonRaven8919's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've kind of had a breakthrough this morning. I took the meds on an empty stomach because I'm supposed to take them at least a half hour before food. About 10 minutes later, I felt like I was starving, but because I was on my bike and cycling to work, I knew I would have to wait to until I got to work in 20 minutes to eat anything. But the "starving feeling" just stopped after about 5 minutes. I think I've spent so much of life thinking "any sensation in my stomach means I need to eat". And then I had a yogurt about half an hour later and I feel completely full. So I think if I get any sensations in my stomach, I need to wait and actually see what it means and wait about 20 minutes. -
So I have been making sure that I hit 100g or more of protein every day. I typically am low carb (under 60g) low fat (under 20g). I like to be adventurous with my food and I enjoy finding new recipes that fit into my macros. However, this last month I have been trying to find recipes that are yummy and fulfill my sweet tooth without going for the ice cream, or candy. One that I discovered was a Greek Yogurt Cheesecake: 1 container of Greek yogurt (i have used Dannons light and fit , 1Tbls of SF FF Cheesecake pudding mix, 1TBL of reduced fat whip. its 115cal 12g of protein, .5g fat and 15g carbs. (you can use any variation of yogurts and pudding mixes). Carbs are higher that I would usually eat but if you have a hard workout day and have it to spare this is the best treat! Also I did not know that Splenda made a brown sugar?! So diced up apples with some spray butter and 1tbls of that brown sugar and bake to soften. You can add it to a little plain Greek yogurt or eat it as it with a dollop of low fat cool whip. I have been finding that I need to have stuff like this in my diet in order to not go off track. Not everyday, but days where all I want to do is eat chocolate or ice cream. I have been following this mom of 3 that lost 50lbs through exercise and diet, she has a ton of recipes. All her single serving recipes easily make 2-3 servings for us bariatric folk, but its healthy and realistic for those people who don't want to restrict forever. Anyone else have some yummy recipes?! Or does anyone think this might cause a slippery slope?

I don't know about brownies specifically, but unsweetened cocoa powder is fine. It's really low in calories. I often mix it into vanilla yogurt and throw some berries on top for a treat.

gotta love an oldie! that yogurt looks so good! Ill have to grab one to try.

Oh, ya! They are so good. I've had a yogurt bar, but I think they were refrigerated

I am 9 months out and still sometimes use my protein shake when I know I didn’t met my protein intake and when I am on the run. I still have sweet tooth specially when it’s the time of the month. I try eating natural sugar from fruit to soothe my craving. I learn to love Greek yogurt. I put small portion of fruit, nuts, and sometimes with granola and drizzle of raw honey. This morning I put 3small figs, almond and walnut, a little bit of honey. It’s delicious. This morning -
Pureed /Soft food Ideas
NeonRaven8919 replied to dspedosk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been trying to puree tuna with some yogurt instead of mayo and I think it's just too much for me right now. (three weeks post op) But I I've definitely taken the advice about blended thick soups so they are thinner and cottage cheese. I also had some cream of tomato soup and blended some cottage cheese into it and it enhanced the flavour of both. I used to love cottage cheese when I lived in the US, but it doesn't have the same texture as the UK so I didn't like it anymore. Now, it's a godsend. Funny how life works. I'm really struggling with purees so I'm going to stay on liquids for an extra week. -
I think you right I feel better after a bowel movement- could have been kiwi or small potato bite I took but totally freaky my diet is mainly chicken nuggets and airfryer shrimps with some berries and profee 3 months post op tried searching for recipes but failed & don’t think can accommodate much anything I should add other than Greek yogurt (hateful) or cottage cheese (already eating some)

The only way I can tell I am hungry is that I am tired or dizzy. Rarely do I actually feel hungry. I actually eat every 1.5-2hours. Small high protein snacks through out the day with 3 smaller more balanced meals (veggies, fruit, carbs ect). Its super important to feed your body so you can sustain workouts, working, or life lol I would try and make it a habit of eating more often. idk if you like to meal prep but egg cups for bfast, lunch chicken salad or a bowl of some time, snacks can be yogurt and granola, cheese stick and jerky...

I get why you're feeling frustrated—it's tough when you're ready to move to the next stage and don't have the plan you were expecting. It's great that you've already started with things like hard-boiled eggs, lentil soup, and canned tuna/chicken. Those are solid choices! While you're waiting for your next appointment, you could try some soft foods like mashed avocado, Greek yogurt, or even well-cooked veggies. Just take it slow and pay attention to how your body reacts. You’re doing awesome, and your dietitian will have you back on track soon enough! -
I've been enjoying the Yasso frozen yogurt bars now that the weather is warm. 100 calories and 5g protein, with a reasonable amount of sugar for a dessert. The coffee chocolate chip is my favorite. And I am going to try those fancy brownie yogurts! I remember seeing them and thinking they seemed too indulgent for breakfast, but I didn't even think about having one for dessert!

I eat oats once in awhile. Yes they're carb-heavy, but they're also whole grains, so they're good for you. I just eat about 1/2 cup of them at a time, though. I add some protein powder and usually some vanilla and cinnamon. I alway top them with a dollop of plain or vanilla Greek yogurt and a few berries - and I'll sometimes put some sugar free maple syrup over that, too.

I will add protein powder to my Greek yogurt some times or will make a protein smoothie myself to drink as a snack, but I got burned out on the premade protein drinks during my liquid phase and pretty much have not been able to stomach one since. I do love protein water though and that helps. I think I’m averaging 60-80 grams a day, but I feel like the goal they gave me is unattainable right now. I should be moving to soft food soon and then I think it will help with I can include tuna and chicken. -

Amp protein in SF pudding
JennyBeez replied to Fars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bone broth powder into any broth / soup is a big help. Unsweetened peanut butter powder into fat free plain greek yogurt or pudding can give you an extra boost -- or like @FifiLux suggests, make your own pudding-style treat with jello flavouring and a yogurt base. The sour / tangy taste of plain yogurt can make sweetened powders more palatable, and you can use less than required since you don't really need it for thickening (especially if you start with a greek yogurt base -- very thick already). Depending on your program, you might be able to have cottage cheese on liquid diet? Mine did, and it was already a great dose of protein but added a scoop of unflavoured whey and some savory spices was a nice change from faux sweetness. If you find a clear / water soluble protein powder, you can drink it diluted so it's not as strong and throw in a little squeeze of lemon or lime juice. V8 / tomato juice is another good option. I had a rough time mixing unflavoured protein powder into it without clumping, but chicken bone broth powder mixed with a little hot water before adding it to the tomato juice worked well for me. -

White fish Ceviche and Mexican street corn salad (made with a greek yogurt dressing). Below is what I plated for myself but decided to go for seconds for the ceviche and only had one bite of the corn salad (which was really good). -
Going back a step?
Bypass2Freedom replied to NeonRaven8919's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't worry too much about if you have done any damage - I highly doubt you have! Especially if you have been following the recommendations of your surgical team. It is a little bit of hit and miss learning in the early stages - what feels good, what doesn't etc. If you think a puree is too thick, just thin it out a little bit and then gradually increase! For example, I'd have yogurts but just thin it out with milk. My surgeon literally recommended that I have a week on each stage, so that just goes to show you that the gap can be quite small! So long as you aren't in any severe or prolonged pain, I think you should be okay! Always reach out to your surgical team if you are worried though -
Food for months post sleeve
AmberFL replied to Fars's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 6 months I started to incorporate more carbs, but now at 8months post op this is what I do: Morning weight lifting Post work out -Protein ice coffee Breakfast- Egg White Turkey Sausage Bowl Snack: Nuts and fruit Lunch: This week is a chicken teriyaki bowl (I meal prep every weekend so bfast and lunches are always prepped) Post cardio snack: mini archer beef stick and sargento light cheese stick I have a yogurt with granola before I go home so I am not munching on junk while making dinner Dinner: is whatever I make the family just mine is smaller and instead of a lot of carbs Ill load up on the protein and veggies. Dessert: I made these chocolate pumpkin almond butter yogurt bites that are DELISH! I am not perfect by any means I am eating around 1800-2000 calories a day, 150g + protein, 120-160g carbs and 40-70g of fat. I have been able to maintain my weight -/+ 3lbs this month by doing this. Also, I weight list for 30-45min in morning and run 3miles in the afternoon M-F and Saturday I do HIIT workout for 35-40min and cardio for 35min. Which is why I eat a lot. I am coming to terms with it, last week I had a slight panic but this group is awesome. They gave me the advise do this for a month and see how it plays out. if I gain then I need to tighten up the rains, If I still lose (which I have not) then go up in 100calories increments. -

I just came up with something else. Well an update to the egg salad purée. Instead of Mayo I used 3 eggs with one big spoon of nonfat yogurt and 2’ big spoons of hummus. I got the dill pickle hummus since it doesn’t have chunks. It has to marinate overnight but I tasted it and it seems like it’s going to be pretty good. Now ti figure out what ti do with the reduced fat cream cheese that was on my list. Thinking maybe mix into some mashed cauliflower. -

I hope so! I feel like a zombie over the most menial tasks. I feel like I’m barely doing anything, and not tired in the moment, but my tank is completely wiped. I have been making sure to have my protein drink, plus 2 oz of yogurt for breakfast, but I’m not noticing any increase in energy. -
Not sure if you would like it but you could add high protein/greek yogurt to the jelly, before it sets, so that it sets like a pudding texutre. You would get a higher protein amount if you also included some protein powder into the mix. This is how I have made it; 1 packet of sugar free jelly 250ml boiling water 300g greek yogurt 30g protein powder (I alternated between vanilla and natural) To make: In a just/bowl add the boiling water and jelly sachet. Mix until well combined and set aside, just to let it cool for a couple of minutes. In a blender add the yogurt, protein powder and jelly mix. Blitz until smooth. Pour into ramakins /small bowls and cover, let set in the fridge for at least 3 hours. One large bowl is about 50g protein so it will then just depend on how you portion it out but MyFitnessPal (or similar) can calculate that for you. I found the above one on Instagram and I am sure you could find similar if you wanted to have a look. The rest of the time I just had broth, made out of stock cubes with protein powder in it. The liquid phase isn't that bad or too long (if you only have to go through it once, I had to do it three times) so I just had the yogurts. puddings and broth/soup.

Made the fam Çilbir which is a turkish egg dish with a tangy and garlicky greek yogurt base, topped with poached eggs and drizzled with a hot spicy olive oil and butter mix. I love this dish but didn’t have any. I might have some for dinner. With a side of toasted sourdough.
