On Saturday we had Outback, I had chicken and veggies, and a few cheese fries. Well everything was under control. Then I don't know what happened, I was like an eating machine. Needless to say, I was in serious pain in the middle of the night. I vomited a few times, and was very nauseated and sore. Oh, and my urine was way way dark ( I know tmi). I called my dr. office and they told me that what I was feeling was normal and to go back to liquids and work my way back up. I guess I'm really in a mental struggle right now between old habits and my new teacher (the band). I have often felt I am a control freak and the one thing I would let go on is food, does that make sense? Anyhow, now I think I am not able to tolerate acidic things like my crystal light. Hopefully this won't last long. I do feel ok, but I really screwed up, and I will not let this happen again.

Ist week, some pain, some gas in shoulders, any liquid or non solid. Mostly Protein shakes and Crystal lite for me. I also drank some clear broths and after the first week just blended up chicken noodle soups. Focus on protein. My doc has me drink 2 oz of protein at the top of every hour and other sugar free liquids the rest of the hour. That kept me full. Try to drink something at least every 15 minutes. Walk, walk, walk and if you have back or shoulder pain try windmilling your arms as you walk. Walk somewhere every hour even if it is only to refill your liquids. May be TMI but don't expect a lot of BMs. My doc would not even consider a laxative until after 5 days. Follow the advice given by your doc and try to relax. Nervous makes you hungrier! Good luck and keep us posted on your journey!

montiep replied to julianaw85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am Sept 10th. I am on the mushie food. Sick of refried Beans, but only have a few more days before real food. I have had no complications either. Only problem is constipation, taking stool softeners and Miralax. Not working. Only brown Water. TMI, sorry. Otherwise, its all good. -
Okay so i haven't been having any trouble with BMs until today! After about 30 mins sitting on the porcelain god it was stuck and WAY too big. Had to leave work and urgent care wasn't open. Got some stool softeners and took one. It finally passed thank you Jesus but it hurt like all get out! Do i take the stool softeners everyday or just when needed?

Hi all. I’m due to have my period right smack in the middle of my scheduled surgery. I know, tmi, however I ree-he-heely don’t want them to reschedule me. Is this something that would stop the procedure from going on as planned or is it a non issue? Anyone else have Aunt Flo during surgery?

So I'm down about 47 pounds (stalling now but think its because I have my period). I was sleeved 4-24-12 so I'm almost a month So nsv's. Maybe tmi but I have a much easier time cleaning myself in the bathroom... If you know what I mean. My "hump" in the middle of my back is disappearing. I can easily put on shoes. I can walk without getting out I breath Normally after a family get together I woul only be able to help with the clean up for so long until my back was killing me but today I was able to really help! And I was able to drink and eat some normal food (very small portions) so I didn't feel Left out or look strange... No one here today saw anything strange... Which is good because I'm not ready to tell them. My stomach doesn't touch the steering wheel My shorts that were always too tight are now too loose!

pain at suture/port site
RestlessMonkey replied to lindsayb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's probably an adhesion (scar tissue forms, sometimes in places we don't especially WANT it). Why not give your surgeon's office a call? They should be able to gauge what it might be. If it IS an adhesion, keep moving and stretching, try to literally keep the skin from connecting (hope that isn't TMI). But I'm not sure that's what it is of course; your surgeon can tell you. -
Ok.... I know all of us women had an issue with wiping front and back, after surgery, because of all the soreness ...lol .... Well I had a BM (I know TMI) and I was able to wipe myself without my mom's help!...lol.....

I thought DH = darling husband; guess it doesn't matter, darling, dear, as long as it's nice .... When I asked Dr. Aceves about having sex (while I was in the hospital) - he said "Not here, please" (and then turned very red) ... lol ... he said as long as it didn't hurt, it was okay anytime I felt like it. I will tell you this (if not wanting TMI - stop reading) -- now that I have lost about 52 lbs and Bearded has lost 49 or so, it sure feels different - and is even better than it was before!

Can someone tell me about the drain?
NJMOMof2 replied to Melissal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a drain and my doctor said he wouldn't do the surgery without it. If you have a leak or an infection, it will show in the drain before you even had symptoms. My drain was a tube hanging out of the right night of my stomach and I had to empty it twice a day. The Fluid looks like kool aid (sorry TMI). It only fills a little bit and isn't too bad. My doctor removed it after 10 days. They remove it in the office and the hole literally closes on it's own. I was amazed it didn't need a stitch. The drain is the pain the the butt. It tends to pull and tugs. sleeping is difficult. BUT the good thing about the drain, other than peace of mind with infection, etc is that I spent so much of my time hating the drain, I got through 10 days of Clear liquids fairly easily. So, in the end ....it was a good distraction! LOL. The good news is that all this inconvenient stuff is TEMPORARY. By 3 weeks post op I was feeling Good and by 4 weeks, I was great! I even went sledding!! Good Luck. -
For the past week I've felt bloated and I hadn't had a BM. Tonight at dinner I had the intense urge to buckle over, I had the worst stomach pain for about 10 minutes, so I went to the bathroom. I swear I must've eliminated at least 5lbs of waste. It's like what I had for dinner decided to kick start my bowels and get them moving again. Now I feel soo much better and the bloating is gone. This is the 2nd time that this has happened since surgery. Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm Pre-Op..what Do I Need To Stock Up On Before Surgery?
BBdoodle replied to hihellohowdy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would stock up on the "heavy" items unless you have someone to carry them for you after surgery. Be careful on stocking up on too much stuff because my taste changed big time after surgery. I use to love crystal light now I can't stand it, the same with Wylers peach green tea, it taste like chemicals. I would stock up on bottled waters (16.9 oz) size. You will need to drink 4 a day to get your water in not including the protein. Try a couple of different proteins, see what one you like the most then buy a big container of it. I like Isopure, I bought the 7.5 lb. tub of it. I also stocked up on soups, I still like the same ones as I did before surgery so that is a good thing. Also stock up on vitimans, I found the chewable kind were easier to get down for the first few months. I could not handle the larger pills they hurt way too much plus caused me to throw up too sorry TMI. -
Messed up in editing and can't figure out how to delete it.

The Master List...
chickadee81 replied to rkwilliams1013's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh and TMI ALERT!!!! My dr also warned me that when you get the gas moving....be warned it may only feel like a fart, but sometimes it's more! (something with the anesthesia and then all the liquids they pump in ya makes you loose) I farted on the toilet for the first few days as well -
Hey Ladies, So I have had PCOS for about 10 years... I haven't had a period in about that long..the only time i would get one is when my dr would have me take progesterone to force on on. But it wasn't a regular one on my own. I am a little over 2 1/2 months out and Monday I got my first real period on my own... this probably explains the sever moodiness the past few weeks that I couldn't figure out before. The last time I dealt with this was long I forgot what it was like. My only problem and question is how horribly bad it is! I know this is going to be TMI so i apologize ahead of time. I have to change my tampon less than once an hour.. and I"m using the strongest they come in.. I am even extra protecting and wearing a pad.. and am thankful cause its that bad. My boobs had been so sore to the touch the past week that even wearing a bra was uncomfortable. That has now passed. I am having such bad cramps and can't do anything becuase I don't want to be too far from home or the bathroom... My question is I know this is becuase of the PCOS and my body adjusting to being normal again. Does it get any better after a few cycles? I can't even remember what my periods were like when I use to get them, I know they were not this bad.. I called my Dr and they said there isn't anything they can do for me..I'm just so weak and worried about losing too much blood. Any advice from fellow PCOS er's or non that have eperienced this would be greatly appreciated. I'm at a lost.. my husband obviously can't understand and I feel bad that I have banned him from our bathroom and he has to use the guest one for now. LoL.

Hi. I had surgery on 09/25 and my surgeon did say that we would notice a difference in our BM since we are not taking in as much. He just said to make sure that I keep getting my fluids in. He also recommended Miralax IF constipation seemed to be a problem. He said that our BM should basically follow our amount of intake. Not much going in, not much is going to come back out (sorry if that is TMI).
-
Are you getting in plenty of Water? I noticed things have changed for me but I think it is from such low intake. BM's are not as frequent and the volume is very small, like a small child (sorry if TMI). It might be just find if it resolves itself over a day or two and you are not having symptoms.

Me and My wife went from Chicago to Monterry MX 2 1/2 years ago. On the same day we both had surgery. We had lost weight before surgery, but lost much more after surgery. It was awesome to do this with my best friend. I have seen Debbie go from a size 30 to a size 12. I am so proud of her, but I was proud of her before surgery. It is like being on a honeymoon after 22 years of marriage. I know thats TMI. Dow

Jennie, I can't comment about how long to wait, but I CAN tell you what happened to me. After I'd lost about 60 or 70 lbs, I noticed kind of loose skin (especially between my legs-sorry if TMI) It was really kind of scary and hideous looking. I knew I still had about 50 or so pounds to go, at least so I didn't even consider PS. What happened was that I kind of plateaued and you know what? The skin and my overall body shape kind of evened out during that plateau (that I'm still on, by the way). I lost 2 pant sizes during the plateau and the loose, hideous skin is so much better. Give it time, make sure it's what you want and REALLY need. I agree with the person who recommended waiting a year. That would give your body time to adjust to it's losses.

Awesome! I too experienced that moment and it felt great! Also to be able to look down and see my "lady part" without moving my gut out of the way was a pretty exciting also! Haha, sorry if TMI . Congrats to you !

I know this may be TMI but, I feel like my breath is gross. I should call my surgeons office, but I was just wondering do any of you chew sugarless gum or suck on sugarless mints ? I am afraid to get to close to anyone LOL
