  1. Hi all, My surgery was on September 7th and I've lost 20 pounds since then ...woot woot! Well here it is....I'm moving into my 3rd week and BAM! it's been about 3 days and my weight has stayed the same if not 1 pound gain, lose, gain back. Ugh. I know....this is by far the most loss I've had in such a short amount of time, but still can't help put have that little panic happen even though I've heard of the 3 week stall before. I guess my questions are....what did you do? Did you just wait things out? Did you change things up at all? What helped you get over the dreaded 3 week stall?
  2. After losing 15 lbs in the two weeks post-op (and 0 lbs pre-op because I didn't do a pre-op diet), I have been stalled for going on 10 days. I know it's normal and to be expected...I've googled it, read the message boards, and still stayed awake at night worrying that 15lbs is all I'd get out of this process. BUT, I'm wondering what your experiences have been in terms of how long this lasted, and what (if you can identify anything) broke the stall. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. Yesterday was three weeks post-op, and the scale hasn't moved for a few days. I figure that this is (insert dramatic music here) the dreaded 3-week stall. If it weren't for you wonderful people on this forum, I would've been convinced that I was eating too much (600 calories a day?), had already stretched out my sleeve, I was a complete failure already, I would be the only one the sleeve wouldn't work for, and the Earth was falling into the Sun. But no. Because of you all, I knew what to expect. Last week, I took measurements, I've put away the scale until next week, and I'm going to keep plugging away at following the rules. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
  4. Am I doing something wrong??? I have been the same weight for the last 3 weeks!!! I decreased my calories, I increased my calories, I decreased my Protein I increased my protein I increased my Water I decreased my water!!! What to do? what to do?? I am 9 weeks out, please give me ideas.
  5. It's becoming annoying to see the scale say the same thing everyday for the last week ok now I'm ready for it to go down. I'm going to follow this suggested menu from my docs today it's a lot more than what I've been eating drinking and the Protein is definitely way more so maybe this will help. :/ Any other suggestions?
  6. I will be 6 weeks out on Tuesday. The first 3 weeks I lost well (8.4; 3.8, 4.2). However, the last 3 weeks my loss has slowed down a LOT (.8, 1, and so far 0). Has anyone experienced anything like this and had their loss speed back up? I'm trying to keep a positive outlook but the longer the stall or slow down lasts the harder I am finding it. I see my surgeon and NUT on Monday and will be talking to them, but I'm just curious if this is the 3 week stall everyone talks about and if so, at about when it's normal for loss to pick back up. For reference, I was lucky to have a very easy recovery so I am getting 70+ grams of protein most days (always over 60). I am drinking between 70-100 oz of water a day. My calories are high for how far out I am (usually just under 800; 6 weeks) but that's because I still need protein supplements between meals. For meals, I'm eating 4 oz of soft protein (like chicken salad) and then if hungry some vegetables that are cooked soft. I will be hopefully be able to move onto more dense foods after my next appointment.
  7. Ok guys..... (Ive posted this on OH) but decided to post it here as well.... The inevitable happened. Got on the scale this morning, not only am I "stalled" I guess. I am up 3 LBS! LOL How the heck does that happen?? When you work out at least 4 days a week and consume less than 700 calories per day. I must add that I was sleeved on 9-15-09 and have lost 30 lbs, well, 27 since I gained 3 lbs back. I see posts about this ALL the time but gosh, until it happens to you.....you really dont know what it feels like! Also. TOM is usually between the 12th and 15th of the month, so that could be why im retaining.........This really sucks!!!! Just venting. Help, I knew it would happen, just didnt know how horrible I would feel when I did. Thanks for listening!:001_tongue:
  8. As the title says, I hit my 3 week stall about 2 days ago. I have been through this before, so I know not to check my weight for a week now. The stalls are the worst part of all this, and as time goes on, they get longer and longer. But I've already been to this dance, so at least I know what to expect. My gerd is getting bad. I had to go up to 40mg every day and see how that works (going to every other day caused issues, so today starts every day again). I was really hoping that I would be able to get off PPI with this revision, but so far, no. At least I've gone from 80mg daily to 40. If I could get down to maybe 20mg I could learn to be ok with it. I guess time will tell. I was given the ok to try some ground turkey and HOLY CRAP I FOUND THE RESTRICTION!!!!!! I can eat scrambled eggs, avocado, hummus, refried beans, even cheese cubes....nothing. But I had 2 tbsp of ground turkey and HOLY MOTHER OF GOD there was ALL KINDS of restriction!!!!! I've never had this before. It's awesome!!!! I was told my stomach is the size of a golf ball, and I found it hard to believe before, but oh man I believe it now!!!
  9. So when I had my sleeve done 6/8, I recall asking the nutritionist if I'd be able to eat regular food for our family's annual 4th of July trip to Vegas. She assured me I would. So flash forward to last Wednesday, my 3 week surgiversary and the day before our trip. I'd heard about 3-week stalls and I was a little apprehensive, but I was 39 pounds down and feeling confident. This weekend I had only one Protein drink. I ate pretty much what I wanted to, including a frozen lemonade and a slice of key lime pie. I had oysters and fish and ribs and chicken and even a little potato puree and some grits with my redfish at Emeril's. I had a Philly cheesesteak slider, but I did not eat at Craftsteak, which didn't disappoint me anywhere near as much as I'd expected. I even had a pretzel dog in the airport when our flight was delayed. No other way to say it...I overate and I was waaay off my diet plan. A couple of times to the point of feeling uncomfortably full, and once to the point of throwing up. Also, since I know it's a topic here, I should mention alcohol. I tried two adult beverages, and neither of them sat well. Both were, in fact, unfinished. I'm not normally a drinker, but when it's 106 degrees outside and you're at the pool paying $15 for a frozen lemonade, virgin or not, you figure you want your money's worth. I definitely got more bang for the buck from the virgin drinks. After all that I came home and I'd gained 0.6 pounds. I'm about to go to the deli across the street from my office and get a scrambled egg with cheese. Time to get back on track and over my totally self-induced 3-week stall. Truth is, I'm looking forward to it, but I also know I've got to learn to eat healthy even in social and vacation settings or I'm not going to feel my best. That's going to be a struggle for me, because I've always linked so many happy memories to food. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. I am curious, maybe a little disappointed, but I promised myself I would NEVER write about a stall. Well technically, I'm not. This is my three week weigh in. I expected no or very little loss based on what I have read here. I started solids last Wednesday and knew I've been consuming more calories, maybe 500-800 daily. My weigh in this morning shows a 2 lb gain. Has this happened to others? I know I am a slow loser. I lost 5.5 lbs during my liquid diet and 8.5 over the next two weeks. I read where many lose upwards of 25 lbs during that time. I am patient, but I can't imagine a gain.. Has anyone else experienced this? My Dr did make me throw away my hydrochlorothiazide which is a diuretic, could this be the cause? I have consumed a lot of ham/cheese roll ups this week as a source of Protein and low calories, maybe the salt is causing Fluid retention? (TMI) Also having a constipation issue. Using benefiber without any real relieve yet. Any suggestions? . Words of encouragement anyone ?
  11. I can't seem to get past the 3 week stall. [emoji20] I'm a month out from Lapband revision with Gastric bypass. At 3 weeks, when I went to the pureed stage, hit the stall. I've increased my walking, a bit frustrated and concerned. Any suggestions or insight welcomed! Thanks for the support!
  12. I had my sleeve 3 weeks ago tomorrow and I did great with the pre-op diet and the first 2 weeks after surgery I lost 39 lbs. However this week I haven't lost anything. I dont feel like I have screwed anything up but I don't know. I threw up last night after I ate for the first time since surgery but I felt so much better after I did. I think I had 1 to many bites. Has anyone else had a stall at 3 weeks post-op? Any suggestions or comments would be great. Thanks in advance.
  13. I'm 4 months post op today from my SIPS procedure. I have lost 83lbs in total since the start in early June, and 68 lbs since surgery, however I was hoping to be further along and even at my last Dr appointment they indicated I could have lost more and were surprised I hadn't. I seem to be averaging 11 lbs a month over the last 3 months, but what keeps happening is that I lose 11lbs in one week, then NOTHING for 3 weeks!! Is this normal? At first I thought it was just a stall, but the last 3 months in a row have had exactly the same pattern. Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy to have lost the weight I have, but I was kind of hoping for it to go a bit quicker, because I have a total of 200lbs to lose and everyone tells me (including my Doctor!) that after the first 6 months it will slow right down. I took on board what they said and have been sticking to the food plan and going to the gym, because I was terrified if I didn't lose 100-150lbs in the first 6 months, I wouldn't get to my goal. But seems like my body had different plans. I also don't understand how I can have a daily calorie deficit of approx 1000 cals, but for 3 weeks out of each month, not lose anything? How is my body actually powering itself during that time? My hair is falling out in clumps and my skin isn't great, so I'm guessing thats what's happening instead, but seriously....how can I be running on negative?? My average daily food intake looks like this: Breakfast: either 1 boiled egg with a little mayo, or 1 protein shake (premier protein). Once a week I will have 1/2 a cup of rice cereal. Lunch: I batch cook chilli or soup with added protein at home to take to work. Usually have it with 1oz of pecans or macadamias (trying to follow keto) Mid-afternoon snack: cheese stick or protein shake (depending on whether I had one for breakfast or not) Dinner: Varies, but generally I go for pressure cooker chicken (between 3 and 5 oz) and green veg, or tuna salad, or 3-5oz of pork chop. 2-3 times a week I will have 3oz of sweet potato, but thats not every day and depends on how hungry I am. My average calorie intake is 99% of the time between 800 and 1150 and I hit at least 80g of protein every day. I try to keep carbs under 30g, but often average about 50g (gross) I count my water and get at least 64oz every day. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week, and on average I do 45 mins of cardio (cross trainer/eliptical and bike) and then 10-15 mins of weight training. Outside of this i try to be as active as I can, and I average round 6000-7500 steps daily (I have an office job so can be tricky) Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on what else I can do to try and speed this up? Should I do different things at the gym, or just try to go more often? Or should I mix up my food a bit more? I'd really appreciate any ideas.

Finally got a referral to a cardiologist. Now the wait begins for the paper work game. My primary did increase the new med I started last week. I walked 2 miles yesterday and today. I figure that won't hurt. The weather here has been beautiful. The rest of the week will be in the mid 80's but the evenings are very cool. I have on sweats now from walking but I think I could just do a t-shirt tomorrow. Hope you have a great day....I'm in OK, where are you?

Stalls happen and suck! Keep working the program and eventually the scale will move. It is frustrating, but it is normal!

  24. Is this normal? I'm 3 months post op and haven't lost anything in almost 3 weeks??? Eating 3 meals a day, should I cut down??
  25. So frustrated, though I am very thankful for this site. Just over 3 weeks after surgery, I haven't lost an ounce in about 10 days. I have lost 11.8kg or around 26lbs, please tell me this isn't all I'm going to lose. I've read a lot about stalls, so I hope this one won't last for too long
