5.5 Months Out, 61 Pounds Down, Sz 26- 14 And Feel Fatter Than Ever
Ms skinniness replied to slimshadee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, this is a problem for all of us. It is quite an adjustment to make. But your not done yet losing weight, your body is constantly redistributing the fat.... Take a deep breath when this happens and remind yourself how far you have come. You will have excess skin when you reach your goal, but it will look better and feel better than all that fat that use to be there. you have more energy and can do more things. You have many more NSV'S coming your way..... Sit back, smile, and enjoy the journey, you Rock! -

Nsv From My 12 Yr Old Daughter
Lissa replied to cassieh's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great NSV from your daughter... and give her a break about being totally honest with you now. I think it's amazing that she managed not to say anything before you lost the weight! Most kids aren't that diplomatic. -
Well, she kinda hurt my feelings too. She said "mom, I use to be so embarrassed to go anywhere with u, but now im proud that your my mom. Your so pretty now". WOW. And thats one of the reasons I had this surgery. I dont ever want my kids to feel embarrassed by me. Im so thankful for het being so open and honest with me.

Scratching your right or left upper back / shoulder blade with opposite arm by reaching up from bottom. Yay! Getting pretty flexible...

Soooooo..... I got surgery a month ago, I've lost 27 lbs since then and lost 20 before surgery, so total is 47 lbs . I went down in the basement to look for something and noticed a bucket of my fall/ winter clothes, I decided to bring it. EVERYTHING in the bucket was my pre- baby clothes, my Sweet Caroline is 16 months old now.. EVERYTHING FITS!!! Even some pants are too big!! I'm the same size/ smaller than when I got pregnant. I've been doing the happy dance for hours! Thank you sleeve!!!

I'm 6 weeks post-op on Wed and am battling a 3 week stall (uuugh) but old jeans have started to fit again AND I can cross my legs once again! So while I am tired of not losing actual weight, I'll try to focus on the positives.

NSV stands for Non-scale Victory
-
Well...I finally moved into the 30's for my BMI ...was 54% when I started! Slowly but surely wins the race!!!
-
NSV= Non scale Victory. I think they are the best by-product of WLS. You go girl on not hiding the size! I am waiting for that day!!
-

OutStanding!! I feel silly asking but is nsv stand for?

Funny. Like your NSV. I picked up a pair of jeans that were 34 inch waist. I looked at them & really wanted them but decide after looking at them I wasn't not that small yet. Walked out to the car & checked the size pants I was wearing...SIZE 34!! Went back & got them. Funny how our mind works. Keep them NSV coming.

WOOOHOOO, you go girl! Thats a awesome NSV, congrats!!

So today I was forced to buy my first pair of new pants. I'm 43 lbs down, and still walking around in my old "skinny pants" that are now falling off me. So I went to Wal-Mart (cause that's how I roll) and found several pair of pants, went to pay for them, and started putting them on the counter. It occured to me that I actually wasn't trying to hide the size when i put them up there. Pre-weight loss, I'd turn the pants over to make sure NOBODY could see what size it was because it was embarrassing. But tonight I was like, YEAH, THATS RIGHT! THOSE ARE 14's BABY....EVERYBODY SEE THAT?? 14's!!! YEP. 14 REGULAR, NOT PLUS> ANYBODY ELSE WANNA SEE?? CAUSE YOU CAN! CAUSE THEY'RE 14'S! Felt dang good.

I am going to a wedding and feeling down cause after all of my weight loss i can't find anything to fit. Went to layne bryant Everything was too big but couldn't find anything in reg stores either. Since my top and bottom are two different sizes I decided to get a skirt and dressy top. Easier said then done Last week I got a skirt size 12. So far so good This week i went through the tourture of looking for a jacket/ top to wear to the wedding. I went to Lord and Taylor and there were tons to pick from. But would they fit??? Yup they did. Thats not the NSV, well it is but not the one that i was posting about. When i finished in the dressing room The sales woman said which side did you get the clothes from so it is easier to put back and i figured large size right. I told her i didn't understand the question, cause they were 14, 16. To me that was a big size right. I told her the left side not right. She said oh thats the small side. OMG No one ever told me i was a small size. so a 12 on the bottom and 14-16 on top. I couldn't move i was in shock!! Wendy

happiness is having WLS, the sleeve for medical reason i am prone to fall. i haven't fallen in a few months. when i fall, i have to turn, roll on my knees ( both have been replaced) and with difficulty get up. i fell the other day, i got up a lot better than i usually do. I was so happy. I said to my DH, hmmm, do you think this has anything to do with my weight loss (lifting up 90 lbs less of me?) DH and i were walking today, i was walking pretty well, better than my usual tortoise pace - i said hey, do you think i'm walking better from my weight loss? i went to the mall today for the first time in a long time, i bought a smart phone. in the past, i wouldn't have gone into a big mall, amongst many people - my confidence is way up there now i am a happier person thanx to the sleeve - i am hanging around too, working hand and arm in the sleeve :D

Awesome NSV =) -
We were eating at Hard Rock Cafe this last week in Seattle before a concert at the showbox ( imagining dragons- truly awesome). We wanted to eat on the roof and enjoy the beautiful weather as the sun set over Puget Sound. Without thinking, i took the 3 flights of stairs 2 at a time without stopping, going fast and felt nothing at the top except awesomeness. I was like, wow, I could not have done that before!

I Just Chickened Out
Supersweetums replied to Nicci's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am glad that you rescheduled your appointment just to talk. You are still not committing yourself, but you are getting informed, and that is the best starting place. If you decide not to get the sleeve, at least you know you have done your research. I was 31 when I got my surgery. I also had ZERO healthy issues. My cholesterol was low, my blood pressure was low, my blood sugar was normal, other than being overweight, I was normal. However, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and heart problems ALL run in my family. I knew it was just a matter of time before it would probably happen to me. My mom was in her thirties when she developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. I didn't want to wait until I already had problems, I wanted to prevent them. I had 2 very young children (14 months and 3 yrs) when I went to have the surgery done. I was scared leaving them, what if I didn't some back...but deep down I knew this was the right thing to do. I have not regretted it for a moment since I had it done almost 2 years ago. I am healthy, and, for the first time in my life, I am happy with myself. Yes, I also got it done not only for my health, but also for my self-esteem. I wanted to look better too. I didn't want to be stared at and made fun of walking down the street. I wanted to shop in normal stores, I wanted to feel normal. Like others have said, continue to research. Read all the positive stories on here too. All the NSV's. Of course there are risks and complications, and despite them being very low, they can happen. So you have to go into this with open eyes. Whatever decision you decided to make, just make sure it is the right one for you. Best of luck!
