1. In all my time here, I've seen a bare handful of people fail to lose their hunger and most of them had issues later on, not immediately. But oh, the desire to eat when you're stuck on a liquid diet is a misery most of us know and understand. First, check your PPI. If you're not on one, start ASAP. If you're on Prevacid, know that it doesn't work for a lot of people and you might need something else. If you're on a good PPI and still feeling that growly, gurgly, "I'm hungry" tummy, talk to your doc and get a prescription for something stronger. Second, really evaluate what you're feeling. Is it a desire to chew food because you're not feeling satisfied with liquids? That's pretty normal. It passes as soon as you hit the next frustrating phase: mushies, and the irritation you experience when you want to eat, feel you need to eat and know that you need more nutrition but you get full after just two or three bites. Third, it really does take time for the ghrelin to work it's way out of your system. You really might be feeling some residual hunger but it should be easier every day. I'd say that at this point you should be past it, though. Eating plenty of Protein will help you feel full longer. Try to push shakes before other liquids, and hang in there. Good luck, and congrats on your new sleeve, ~Cheri

Insurance

I have personal choice of bc of PA. All they wanted was the psyche eval and the info from the surgeon. I got my approval 9 days after the surgeon sent in the precert! I still had to get the tests the surgeon wanted so altogether it took 7 weeks to get surgery scheduled !! Good luck

Can't Feel My Port????

Your stomach is probably still a little bloated from the surgery. It took me a couple of weeks before I felt mine, now I easily find it. Sometimes just leaning against the counter I can feel it.

banded on the 7th

i've lost 9 pounds so far, but all week it has been crazy up and down by about 10 pounds due to all the swelling, and everything else...i know it feels like without eating or drinking much you should be 20 pounds down by now, but our bodies have to adjust. hang in there...they say the first 4 weeks are about healing and the rest is about losing....so try not to worry too much for now

ANZAC Day downunder..

Marion Thanks for sharing the recipe. I wondered what Anzac Biscuits were. I am having a good weekend, even though it is rainy here this week. I finally cleaned up a mess of paperwork yesterday and managed to get in a nice walk between the rain showers. I got myself an I Pod, and it is helping me to want to walk more, because I love listening to the music. I also joined a waking club that starts in a few weeks. I hope to meet some people in my area that like to walk for exercise. A health club in the area is sponsoring the walking club and we will walk around various parks in the area. I did a 50 min cardio workout DVD this morning. Oh my, two years ago I certainly would not have been able to do that! I am going to pick-up my Mother from the retirement center and have her for lunch today. So I made a big fruit salad, crab cakes and wild rice. I don't eat rice often, but this is whole grain and should be pretty healthy. Have a good week. And keep up the good work! Having only one cookie once in a while is O.K. We can't give up everything - all the time. Karen

june 13th getting sleeved!

I honestly only went to one and didn't like it. I keep trying to attend but I travel almost 3 weeks out of the month and its hard for me to get to them
8. My doctor told me week 2 I can eat mushy food/pureed, so I can begin this tomorrow morning. I am NOT going to be eating any meat pureed- gross. However, I'm curious to what others did for this week? What's acceptable? What were you able to eat? I'm so glad I made it through the Liquid Phase! There were days I thought I wouldn't!

TWO WEEKS

I am your surgery buddy too! Started the preop diet Monday. Not eating regular food is totally making this real. I have my final consult with my surgeon tomorrow and my education class and preop testing next week. Ready to move over to the losers bench with everyone.

Profession after surgery?

I was a bread-a- holic. I loved my bread! I was so hoping that this surgery would change my tastes, and it has. I find that I no longer crave bread, Pasta, pizza, lasagna, french fries, pastries, anything with simple carbs. meat is what I crave now...and veggies. I've eaten more salads in the past month than I had in five years. I'm on a stall right now, but I know my body is just readjusting, so I'm not worried.

getting well

See, age is an issue for me also, I am now 63:thumbup1: a very cool 63 thank you, but, I was worried about the "senior" thing. I have been out of town for a few weeks and have not posted so you might not recognise me. I was 63 when I had my sleeve in April. I now have lost 98#'s and am doing super. All my blood work is now in normal range and I am able to do so much more than before. My breathing is good and I haven't used my inhaler in months. You will be so glad you have made this decision. Good luck on your journey.
16. Im just starting my revision process, from lap band to gastric sleeve. I'm waiting on the insurance approval. I have UHC Choice Plus. I'm really excited this change. Not that I don't like my lap band, cause it has helped me to lose some weight, but I'm just not where I want to be. I have been at the same weight for a year now and that is 218. I started at 261 three years ago. So I need some change!! I'm just hoping I get approved!!!

Scared

I'm almost one month out and in total with pre op liquid diet I've only lost 27 lbs, is this slow?? I've been weighing myself everyday, should I stop? I'm stressing myself out I have this huge fear that I will not be successful and that I will not lose anymore weight? Will my weight loss pick up once I start working out? Please tell me my weight loss is not over I have so much more to lose, someone please assure me that I'm just panicking I've been stuck on 245 for about a week and a day now Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Scared

I'm 4 weeks out and I stalled 3wks in and at my month f/up I lost 29.8 lbs (I'm calling it 30lb), dieticians says we will go through a lot of stalls as our diet change and activities.. I don't weigh myself as often as you so because the scale stresses me out..always have..only weigh once a week but I can tell in my clothes more than anything..down in inches and a pants size.. that excited me more than that scale! Simple Weights Workout Plan

Thanks I'll have to look up YouTube. Also starting body pump and kickboxing with weights. I just have to be careful still because I'm only three Weeks post OP and still in some pain. ZGB

www.fabtofit.Blogspot.com
20. i love zumba and do that at least 3-4 times a week so my cardio is being taken care of. i know i need to start doing some weightlifting even though i'm not really a fan of it. i don't really have the money for a personal trainer so i'm looking to do this on my own. does anyone have an easy to follow (for a beginner) weight lifting or muscle toning workout plan for me to follow? or maybe a website, an app or a link i can go to that help me with this.
21. Waiting for Tuesday so my doctors office can send off my paper work to the insurance company. Hope to hear back from them in a few weeks. But until then I will be getting everything all ready for a successful surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
22. I started back to work today...administrative in an adult day care. Loved getting back to what i love but tired a little easily. Am two weeks post op tommorrow. drinking and eating pudding and potatoes is too easy for me....i can't help being scared that i could just keep on eating, even though I am following instructions and taking 30 minutes or more to finish 2 oz. of creamed food or 1 cup of liquid. My doctor assures me that if I ate fast or more i would know i couldn't. Maybe i should just try to stop this crazy worry. years and years of having success and gaining back has made me worry that this isn't going to work either. Is that crazy? any councel out there? another thing- when did you start soft protein like tuna or salmon? I started my journey at 300 pounds and now I am at 276 so I am happy with that, but just afraid I will just stop losing. I probably needed to get back to work:001_smile:
23. One week post op and doing really well. I think I would be almost 100% but gas struck on Tuesday . I think I could walk to the moon and it woudn't help. Gas-x I'm not so sure about. But it will pass. I get to start soft foods tomorrow and regular food on 8/4/12. Had my first post op appointment yesterday and I am 7 lbs down. Lost 18 lbs pre op. Let me know how you are doing!! Have a fantastic weekend!! Stephanie

Regrets?

I was sleeved on 8/17th the first week was a little tough but then it gets a whole lot better. just remember to drink your fluids. Best wishes!!
25. I posted under a heading of transfered addictions earlier on another sight - the general one on here. I know i need to go on a 12 step type of program. Was going to get a note book and allow myself say $30 A WEEK to spend, if i dont spend it it adds up. Keep telling myself , or i should say asking myself do i really need it,or do i just want it as it is a good price, trying to turn from clothes food shopping to towels, sheets etc. Anyone out there had the same prob. Any advice ,reading material, etc. greatly appreciated.:confused:n
