NSV is a non surgical victory. Smaller size, loose rings, crossing your legs. Perks from losing weight.

Amazing NSV, I went to my WLS support group meeting and a girl I haven't seen in a while nearly feel out of her chair. Her eyes popped out of her head and she said " OMG you look amazing, you whole body has shrunk!" It made my night!
  5. Amazing on the NSV and I am OVERWHELMED that you passed the HVAC test!! I know that, at least in FL, that's one of the toughest tests you can take!! Congratulations on both major accomplishments!!!

    June Post Ops!

Hello everyone, glad to see there a still a few familiar names around. It took me a few months but finally got the new app on my phone. It seems as of everyone is doing well and hitting those milestones both on and of the scale. Congrats everyone. I reached onederland in November and am 1 pound away from 100 lost. It feels really good :-). The nsv's are also lots of fun. Some examples are: going horseback riding and getting on and of by myself shopping in regular stores (although it was really hard at first, I walked out of many stores because I was so intimidated and didn't know where to start! ) much more energy joints that don't hurt first pair of knee high boots much lighter suitcase when going on holiday buying a really cute sun dress off a vendor on the beach That's about it for now. Keep up the good work.

    Any Long Islanders?

Here's an NSV LI'ers can appreciate --> I went to the Water park Splish Splash, out in Riverhead. I wore a bathing suit in public and had no worries on a few slides that had weight restrictions  It was a good day
  8. I love NSV's. When they happen to you, it's so wonderful. It's cool that we have something to call them too. I had one yesterday. I usually catch the train to work and I walk down the stairs (it's a split-level train) one at a time. (i.e. step, bring the other foot next to the first foot, step again). Yesterday, I noticed that I just walked straight down them like normal people step-step-step. When did that happen? Also, I looked in my car mirror today and I felt that my face definitely looked different - and better. I almost thought I looked pretty for a second. Oh, another train one. It used to be that no one sat next to me on the train but I've noticed now, people are starting to sit next to me and I'm not the last one with a spare seat next to me. Naturally, I prefer a seat to myself but it's nice all the same. Oh and yet another train one. I used to go through the biggest turnstile (the one for people with babies) but now I go through the regular one and don't scrape the sides. It seems that this week, I'm finally starting to notice that I have lost weight.

Mel, One of the best suggestions my friends gave me was to slow down when you're trying to jog for longer. After a few times at a certain speed, I can typically speed up a little, even if for only a few minutes. I think I have to be more vigilant about what I'm eating, not just calories and protein. I haven't had any issues with getting food down lately, so it's kinda been "open season" if you know what I mean......because I haven't had any problems with tolerating food, I've been good about eating salads and eating more veggies, but it makes it easier to eat brownies, french fries, and crap I wouldn't normally eat. I bought 2 containers of Unjury and they should be here tomorrow. I've also decided to start walking on my "days off" from running. In a huge NSV for me, I walked 2.5 miles yesterday at a 4.0 WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT!!! Ok, I typically look like I've gone swimming in my clothes when I workout. It felt really good to know my body is finally in good condition. Now I just need to go shopping for some headphones. I accidentally left mine in the gym the other night and someone kept them. Jerk. So it's been quiet for me, but a good time to think.... Keep up the great work!

    September Bandsters

I had a wild weekend in Kalamazoo MI visiting with old friends and over endulged in food and spirits (I think I am still hung over!) but managed to squeek out 2lbs, I am sure it will all catch up with me next week. I am going to post this pic as an NSV, I would NEVER have done this pre-band no matter how much I had to drink...
  12. quote=insubordination;571722]

Huge NSV for me. I was so worried about this. I stand by my choice of aisle. Awesome! I wouldn't have tried the tray table either! I look forward to the day I don't have to ask for the extender. I am tired of being embarassed! By the way, what does NSV stand for? April: I have to start my pre-op diet tomorrow. It is low calorie and virtually no carbs. I also have to cut my meal portions in half. I am relieved that it is not a liquid diet! I have done Atkins before so I am familiar with low carb. I was wondering about cheating too but I am going to try my damndest to stay on track. I don't want my doctor to say my liver is too fatty to do the surgery. I am waiting to find out if my insurance will approve in the meantime which doesn't help my stress level. Usually stress makes me eat more not less lol. But I am going to keep coming to these boards and getting the encouragement I need. I count myself very lucky because I don't have to go liquids only! Good luck and know that I am in the same boat with you. Keep posting and we will encourage each other! *Trisha*

    An NSV of sorts

That is a great NSV, you should be proud! I am having a tough time at work today. I work for an agency that cares for abuse, abandoned and neglected kids. I work in the development office. This afternoon, they are going to be bringing the kids from our campus and group homes by the office to trick-or-treat. I have this huge bowl of candy sitting on top of my filing cabinet in my office waiting for them. It has been tormenting me all day. One of the candies I bought was Twix. That was so dumb of me. I love twix. So far, I have resisted the urge, but I am not sure how much longer I will be able to hold it.

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

I'm a little behind, forgive me! 14. Biggest NSV So Far - there are so many, but I think being able to go to my hour-long exercise classes and stay through the entire class without stopping halfway through and going home has been huge for me. 15. #TransformationTuesday photo below! 16. January Goals halfway: I've been walking every day on my lunch breaks and drinking at least 50 oz of water a day. I have gone over my calories twice but other than that, I've stayed on track. My only issue is that as I've started doing strength training again, I've gotten hungrier. 17. Today's meals in photos - will post pics later, I didn't meal prep today!

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Jan. 14th: My biggest NSVs so far are both related to travel and lifestyle. I am a minimalist and a backpacker. When traveling prior to this journey I always had to bring my own towel which was a bath sheet (the biggest one). This took up so much valuable backpack real estate it was a crying shame. I also had to travel with way too many spare bras (44H) just in case something happened while away, knowing I would not find my size easily or cheaply. Now regular towels wrap around/close just fine and I can rest assured that anywhere in the world will likely carry my new and common bra size (38D/DD) GRATEFUL BEYOND THE SCALE

    Bedding Hotties.

Well, I think thinner guys can get the 9's and 10's us fat guys typically dont. It has to do with physical attraction first. If she is not attracted to you, you at best will be considered "friend" material. I am married, but spend a lot of time at a local bar. Last night, I was talking to a friend I have known for 25 yrs. She is easily a 9. And she was so into me last night. She was totally hitting on me and even proposed going out to dinner. She told me I look great........ since the weight loss, etc. A total NSV for me. and no! I will not act upon this. But it sure felt good! As far as what Ginger said about the jerks, we will have the advantage! we will truely appreciate our women and wont be stuck up! So when You finally bed your hottie, You will be able to keep her!

Those who are making big strides and getting SV and NSV. Congratulations! I am still on soft for 2 more weeks..then a fill..then rinse and repeat....I won't know what to do when I can eat other stuff...although at this point, I don't think I really miss it. I am officially OVER my cinnamon bun flavored protein shake though...that one is going to the back of the cupboard for awhile

Holli- GIRL!!!! WHAT IS GOING ON WITH YOU LATELY!!!! That is one of the weirdest things I have ever heard. Why did they take so much out....were you still in excruciating pain and unable to swallow saliva or something when you went in..... Was this the recommendation of Dr H to take out 5 cc, or the decision of the ER doc?? I'm so sorry!!! It's VERY late...longest day yet. Very fun filled, and productive....yet exhausting. Went to the NASA space center and the kids had a blast...I'll have to send you all some pictures when I get home... NSV today!! I actually bought an outfit at Old Navy!! Never done that before...and can I just say that regular sized people get much better deals on clothing:biggrin1: Quick report on food for the day: B: Nothing L: (late breakfast..shared a monstrous Texas sized breakfast platter with my hubby). Coffee, 1 over easy egg ....(I've found those go down better than scrambled now), 5 bites of hubby's country fried steak...YUMMY! S: Couple bites of Dippin' Dots D: Split entree with hubby again....about 6 bites of spin/art dip and chips, 2 bites of mashed potatoes, 4 oz (if that) of grilled steak. Hubby, kids, and I split a bananas foster dessert 4 ways (bananas have potassium and are good for you right?? ) Not too bad today, but not great either...No gym work out, but OMG soo much walking my feet hurt bad tonight!! Thanks Diane for the kind words! You are right....every day is a new start, and I just can't believe how much fun I am having compared to what it would have been like for me to come down here last year. I would have been miserable in the heat, aching, exhausted constantly with no energy to do anything. I"m having a blast with family/kids, and for that I need to be so incredibly thankful!!! Talk to you guys tomorrow. Nighty Night:notagree
  20. Hi, It was a year ago when I started my dr supervised weight watchers program for 6 months, then my surgery was July 21, 11. I started at 440lbs and today I weigh 330lbs. I just wanted to share my NSV's 1) I'm wearing jeans for the first time in 25 years! 2) I can walk everywhere with my kids! 3) I enjoyed shopping for the first time in a LONG time! 4) I wore my honey moon nightie for the first time in 7yrs! 5) I've decided to go back to school to change my career..big decision! 6) My hubby had surgery in Aug and wow the whoopie is sooo much better! TMI! I am so happy I did this, I have so much further to go and I hope to loose another 100 this year and with the sleeve and faith and persistence I will get there. Thanks for listening and this past years support! Tracy

Angela, we should meet up on the 4th. I will bring the clothes with me. Robyn, whaddya think? Diane, Congrats on the wedding dress! That is a great NSV! :clap2: Robyn, I should probably not be so dramatic. I know they triple book for sure. But you get the point. :nervous Hey, btw, I want to go on vacation with you. Do you want to adopt me and take me along for all the fun?!? :biggrin1: If you haven't lost weight Robyn, you may be losing fat and gaining muscle. With all the sit ups and working out you are doing... it is possible you are shrinking in size because of the lean muscles you are building. That can definitely make a difference on your body. I call mine (saggy skin)... squishy or flubber. It is because its so loose and soft and saggy. Kinda sad, but hopefully with time it will improve. At least that is my secret fantasy. I have heard Dr. Hoehn say that once it is stretched, it won't go back. If it doesn't, maybe I will find a way somehow to deal with it in the future. On the back pain issue, YES dear! My back acts up quite a bit, but I have had issues for quite a while. I think its a combination of my tummy and extra chestage! Sea, What is your name? Do you come to support group?

Good luck to all who have surgery these last few days, and best to those still healing!

    October 2022 surgery support

Hey everyone, here's my update: Surgery was 10/11. I was 259.8 (heaviest weight) right before I started my 1 week preop diet. Down to 248 right before surgery. Current weight is 219. I'm now on a regular diet since week 6 (currently week 7 since Tuesday). I can only tolerate about 3-5 bites before I'm too full. I eat 4-5 times a day to get my protein in and prevent myself from getting sick due to my stomach being "too empty". I'm averaging about 500-700 calories a day most days. I still struggle to slow down when eating, especially if I've waited too long to eat. Work in progress. I have started back the gym this week. I have made a goal of doing a 5k in the spring, and I have gotten a trainer to help me until I get situated and comfortable around the gym. I had the dreaded 3 week stall. It lasted 3 weeks. Broke this week. I think the gym helped. I still struggle to get my fluids in. However, I feel great. I have turned the corner and gained energy. My mood is better as well. I have decided to take a weekend trip somewhere (that part is not decided) as a reward for getting into Onderland when I get there. My reward for going to the gym 4x a week for the next 2 weeks is a new pair of shoes (I really need them because my shoes have gotten too big since the weightloss, its a bonus to use them as a reward though). My NSV: I can put on my shoes without wanting to be taken out by a sniper. My back pain and knee pain are gone (I hadn't had the pain long though, so it went away quickly versus someone who had longer chronic pain). I have energy and smile more!
