  1. Just want yo say i have lost 140lbs. My surgery was September 17 2019. Thats under a year. Im in disbelief. I never thought id be here this fast. I fee amazing. Just needed to get that out🙂
  2. In the early months, I would use the timer on my watch. 2 bites, wait 10 minutes, another 2 bites.... (it took me FOREVER to eat, but it worked)

    Can anyone help, or....

Just did this post last week - I went thru the same thing and it took me a long time and even with a Nutrioshinist was a b***h to figure out. You are way worse then i got but here are my specs Started 377 6 month later 165 One year 220 Scope: You are going to have to trick your body back into storing fat. This is not easy but I can be done, First thing get a ketones strips and make sure you are not in Ketosis. I was and that was hard to get out of. Check you testosterone level If that is messed up you gotta fix it. Next thing get your throat checked out you may have throat issues. I did and this made a huge difference on what i can take in. Simple Stretch and I was good to go. Now here is where i get bashed. I have no choice but to consume unhealthy foods - I keep my Meal Plan perfect in terms of all food groups and focus on soft proteins. But i take in around 500 calories a day in bad food also with my balanced diet. I need to stay at 1300 calories a day. I keep a bowl of M and Ms on my desk, TIny little candy bars. Will take down a kids can of Chef Boy Arde. I have a cabinet full of chunky soup, canned stews, Just high calorie food, so I slip one into my diet a day. Dips and Spreads are my go to for example Bar Cheese and Crackers, I have a aresonal of crackers cheese and spreads. Even went as far to get a can of Cheeze Whiz! Just snack foods that are high in calories and they keep my body tricked from burning off all the Good healthy food that i also eat. I also tried everything to stop losing and it did not work, One thing that may also help is The MRE powder, It is loaded up with calories and good things. I take a scope every day at lunch In summary mix up what you can do, Keep you Vitamins and Minerals balanced but sending different things at you body may cause a stall. For example I went off the Bad food for two weeks and started to loose again. You will find a mixture of Calories, Protiens, Carbs and sugar that you can handle. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH SUGAR, GO SO SLOW ITS SILLY IT WILL MAKE YOU SICK - For example I can only eat one peanut M and M per 10 minutes or one cheeze and cracker. You over due it you will pay for it. For all of you coming at me - This is common in Males, i have researched it and found many with the same problem, It was a b***h for me to get balanced and off the burn. He is in a Jam like i was, could not even lift a bag of dog food at 165 pounds. My ideal weight is 215-220 and It is going to take years to get the muscle back. I have incredibly will power but be careful if you can not control addiction to garbage food. In my mind it is a tool like a vitamin to keep me on course. Not for pleasure
  5. Vegas airport is huge - I've tracked it on my fitbit and it has been over a mile to get from shuttle to gate (depending of course on which gate you end up at). As others have said, I was walking fine at 10 days - but fine is relevant. Can you walk a mile now? If so, you'll probably be fine. If not, you can get a wheelchair (just call a couple of days before) or you can plan to stop and rest along the way. There is lots of seating.
  6. Was hoping to have bypass surgery in July (in Estonia!) but travel restrictions are making that difficult. August seems more likely now. I am an extremely fussy eater. It's not just not liking certain foods, its fear - I'm genuinely scared of that feeling when you first try something new. Putting unknown things in my mouth, strange textures, it's horrible. That's a battle I'm going to have to finally fight in the first 8-10 weeks of the post-op diet. I had hoped to do those stages in the UK where I am more familiar with the foods available, and where there are a couple of WLS-friendly foods which I can tolerate. But I'm moving to Norway in late August for a year to do a university course. Moving abroad so soon after WLS is bad enough, but I am particularly nervous about doing the post-op diet in a foreign country, in a small town with limited food shops, where I don't know any of the brands. What can I do to make it easier? Am I overthinking how difficult the early stages of the post-op diet are? And... on the off-chance anyone here is from Norway, what foods did you eat after surgery?
  7. I think the big problem with artificial sweeteners is people think zero calories, have all you want. Some drink 10 diet cokes a day for example. I don't think people are overdoing artificial sweeteners with desserts, etc. Use natural sweeteners that do not raise blood sugar like Monk Juice and Allulose (new rare natural sugar). 5 years out

I'm kind of doing that, if not officially. I rarely let myself eat after dinner unless I'm really hungry and was really low on calories for the day. As for mornings, I'm never hungry then, so I no longer eat breakfast before 10:00 a.m (I'm retired, so I'm pretty flexible with time!). I discovered if I do that, my calories are almost always within range by the end of the day - with occasionally some extra ones left over. It's because with this late breakfast, I have my daily protein shake (my former morning "snack") around noon or so, then a late lunch (1:30 or 2:00), maybe a light snack around 4:00, and then dinner. I don't get as ravenously hungry in the late afternoon like I used to (late afternoon is my worst time - I know for a lot of people, it's evenings...but evenings are USUALLY OK for me...). It's made it easier to maintain (and lose if necessary) my weight.
  9. Hello Group! Today is my first day here onsite. I started my lifestyle change on 3/9/2009 when I had my WLS-Lapband. I went through some immediate results but 6 years later I developed an erosion in the mouth of the stomach that caused my tool to be removed. I experienced a rapid weight gain! On April 19 2016, my surgeon revisited my case and I was approved for a revision. We agreed on the Gastric Bypass. The surgery went well. I take my vitamins, eat right etc. On august 16, 2019 I underwent the Panniculectomy surgery which went very well. The recovery process was about a month. I am very happy with the results. Now, what I am currently experiencing is the UPs and Downs of weight loss and weight gain due to the unprecedented times we are experiencing and the challenges we faces each day. In March 2020, I was required to work from home which was great but the exercising has been limited. OMG how I miss the gym... I visited my nutritionist and she recommended I join this website for some guidance, support or even a fruitful tip that can keep me motivated. I do not wish to go backwards, I want to continue losing and I just seem to have lost sight. HELP
  10. At 10 days out you will be fine to do all of that walking!! You would probably be fine 3 days after! The biggest part of bypass recovery for me was the fatigue. I wasn't in pain, could walk around, I just needed 2 naps a day! LOL!! For peace of mind you could always book the wheelchair service, and then cancel it if you don't need it!
  11. Depends on how you heal, but 10 days after I was on the elliptical machine for like 10 - 30 mins a time, several times a day.
  12. Yeah that's true, but I believe it's something I have to arrange ahead of time. Guess it's better to have it and not need it. Thanks for the encouraging words! There are only flights on Thursdays and Sundays, so I will do so either 3 days after surgery, 6 days, or 10 days. Not sure if 3 is doable, but perhaps 6 is.
  13. Hey ya'll, my big day is coming on Monday! I am flying to Las Vegas from Montana to do my surgery, a 2 hour direct flight, but I am concerned with when I will be able to come home. Right now I am scheduled to fly back 10 days after surgery, but I would like to make it sooner if possible. I know there are follow-up appointments and such, but I am doing all of that in Montana. The biggest challenge is getting from the Uber car to my airplane seat. I am not sure how long that walk through the airport will be, but how soon will it be doable do you think? I am getting the bypass by the way, which can be a more challenging recovery compared to the sleeve, from what I understand. Thanks so much!
  14. Does anyone have or had Dr. Houseworth from Franciscan Center for Weight Management? I've seen some other people post about him but the most recent post was in like 2017. Anyone use him recently and what did you think of him? Sent from my Galaxy Note 10+ using BariatricPal mobile app

    Obsessing about Plastic Surgery!!

banded 11/10/2009, TT w/MR and lipo to flanks 3/2012 .... i never ever regretted it. Even after band removal 3/2017 and putting back 30lb in the 2.5 years with no WLS..... Sleeved 8/28/2019.... and i think the TT held up pretty good. Not perfect in my eyes, but my husband is not complaining and i can still wear a bikini....
  18. you can say that again!! Five or 10 lbs either way makes a noticeable difference! So different than from when I weighed over 300 lbs!
  19. I didn't get the impression she was trying to guilt you - she was just trying to be realistic. I got down to 138 lbs but during year 3 it gradually increased until I settled at 150. Gaining 10-20 lbs after hitting bottom is VERY common. It's not inevitable, but it seems to happen to the vast majority of us. And as I've said before, gaining or losing more than 10 lbs after plastic surgery will affect your results. I gained eight lbs this past fall/winter and my plastic surgeon (I was there for my one-year follow up) about had a heart attack and told me to get it off - NOW! (working on it...almost there!). That's why most plastic surgeons will advise you to weight 6-12 months after you reach your final weight - which is rarely your lowest weight.

    From the album: The Journey

Super bloated but there was still progress.
  21. I don't know if it's a BP thing or just a ChubRub thing! LOL!! If I have PS in January, it will be 13 months after WLS, which does seem rushed... The thing is, for me personally, I lived in a body I've hated for way too many years. Yesterday I was trying to find a "before" picture to compare my weightloss, and the only one I could find was from 2004 at my sister's bridal shower, and only b/c it was a pics someone else took. In the past 10 years, I've been to Italy, France, Mexico, the Bahamas, Disney, etc. I have pics of my husband and my kids on those trips, but none of me (unless you count my face only as I would hide my body behind my kids). If I died today, my kids would have very few pics to remember me. I just want that to end, as soon as possible. I want to live my best life, and feel proud of the way I look for a change!! I plan on taking thousands of pictures to make up for the many years I lost!! Also, I do think that people are more likely to keep the weight off when they've has PS, which is another benefit!! Obviously, everyone needs to make the best choice for themselves!

    June 2020 surgeries

How ya liking the protein shakes? Which is your favorite? I've just made my Fage 0%, P2 powder, Stevia cocoa extract, shake. 28 grams pro. 10 carb. It's pretty close to my usual non-diet morning shake except no frozen banana (which I really miss) and real peanut butter instead of P2. What's your favorite brand of shake?
  23. yes - it would be a huge mistake not to wait. A vast majority of people put on 10-20 lbs after hitting their lowest weight. You really need to be at your final weight - and stay there for a few months - before investing in plastic surgery. A weight gain or loss of more than 10 lbs or so will affect your results.
  24. Hey all! My surgery (RNY) is scheduled for June 16. I just started my pre-op diet today! I haven't told anyone about my surgery except my very supportive husband (and I think my daughter has figured it out). I'm so nervous right now. I'm 52 yo, 5'8", currently somewhere around 275. 1. Before surgery: I have an early morning appointment with the nutritionist tomorrow, then my pre-op appt with my surgeon. And then just for funsies I'm having my mammogram tomorrow afternoon. 😫 Next week I have to go to a "mental preparedness class." The Saturday before surgery, I have to have a Covid-19 test done - the one where they probe your brain with a q-tip up your nose? Yeah. 😷 2. Pre-op diet: I had scrambled eggs with a little cheese and onion this morning, it was very satisfying. I've switched to decaf (which was tough and took months) and I use Nut Pods instead of creamer now. Just now I'm drinking a glass of water with some of the Nectar powder in it. And my stomach feels weird! I don't know if it's not used to the protein or if I'm just nervous. I will say I like the Nectar fruit powder very much. It's not a strong flavor and it doesn't have that gross "artificial sweetener" taste to it. It kind of reminds me of Hint water or flavored seltzer, with the bonus that it contains protein. I'm using Lose It to track my macros and let me tell you, none of the fitness/calorie trackers like it when you try to follow a <1000 calorie diet! 3. Speaking of Protein! Ugh, I hated every protein drink I tried. I can't stand artificial sweetener and the aftertaste of the drinks and powders I tried were just horrible. So I'm making my own protein drinks. I bought a NutriBullet (damn that thing is awesome, highly recommended). I use unsweetened vanilla almond milk, unflavored protein powder, and about 1/2 cup of frozen fruit (blueberries, strawberries, etc.). That keeps it in the range that they recommend (about 5g carbs and at least 20 g protein) but it doesn't taste like chemicals. I think between doing those and using the Nectar powders, I might just survive this! Good luck, everybody!
  25. I wish you'd share some pictures CatW!? I don't feel I look 60 either (just turned 61 Friday, 29th) AND completely thrilled with the WLS of 141 pounds lost (late 2018 - 2019) and then, plastics (early 2020). Like yourself - wishing too I could have enjoyed this teenage "light on my feet" like figure (that's what hubby and good friends reference me as) years earlier BUT suspect, I am exactly where I should be at this juncture. Not sooner or later given the strides and advancements they have made in nutrition, sleeve surgery and plastics to date. I'm committed to being a healthier and happier woman moving toward older adulthood defying frump and being the very best version of myself. I am so very excited for fellow Floridian, darktowerdream! She has so much to look forward to in appreciating the next level of weight loss rewards and satisfaction. June 15th will be here in no time. As well as, chubrub! I do look forward to their continued success unfold, don't you! Fun. Favorite cartoon before plastics... ;]
