    January Bandsters???

Now that truly is a NSV! For someone not to even recognize you because you have lost so much weight - That is GREAT!!!!!!!!:clap2:

    January Bandsters???

I get fill #2 tomorrow. All stocked up on liquids. I hope I get some solid restriction with this one. Wish me luck! Oh yeah... NSV today! I walked up the stairs to my profs office on the third floor at school today.... withOUT huffing and puffing! I used to have to stop at the top landing and catch my breath. I wasn't even able to talk right away before. Today I walked right up and even met a friend at the top and had no trouble talking. Whee! It's the little things that really make a difference.

    January Bandsters???

I'm doing my daily check in and I would like to talk about my latest NSV. My DH and I was sitting on the couch, snuggling up, and he had his hand resting on my leg and he squeezed my thighs - he said, what is the hard thing? So felt it, and I got kinda freaked out, then felt my other one, then I stood up and I realized it was MUSCLE! My muscle is breaking thru the FAT! THEN - I was checking my back side out in the mirror, I noticed my cellulite has shrunk even more, I have about 1/2 of what I used to have. My 3rd NSV is I just bought a pair of 12 plaid shorts 2 weeks ago, they are soooo soooo cute, I love them. HOWEVER, they are getting too big already! I am moving down to a size 10! The weird thing about it is, I have not lost a freaken pound since June 12th, thats THREE weeks ago! But I'm shrinking! I love my band! And, I love the BFL workouts!

    January Bandsters???

I have to share my latest NSV - well one of them is a scale victory and one is not! 1. I now weigh less than my husband! I've wanted to weigh less than him for years! He weighs 181, and I weighed 179.6! I made him get on the scale and then I stepped on to show him what I weighed. I was so happy! 2. I tried on a pair of size 12 capris, THEY FIT! I have moved past the 14's and into a 12! I haven't worn a 12 in 14 YEARS! 3. I have broken out of the 180's! Okay, enough about me. lol. I just wanted to share my victories with my January band family! Lisa - sounds like the PB experience wasn't all that bad, but wasn't all that fun either. I hate the sliming! I've slimed a few times, but no really PB experiences. Whats weird about me is I don't have to take small bites? I take regular bites and chew like I've always done pre-band and I still don't have PB's. Thats why I think I need more of a fill, but then I think, I'm eating less with no problems, so why get more of a fill? I don't know what to do - What do you guys think? I'm so wishy washy with me decision. Sometimes I notice I need more of a fill and freak out, other times I notice I can hardly eat?

    January Bandsters???

Hey everyone, It takes a little time to catch up with all the posts if you don't get online everyday!! Sounds like everyone is doing well pre-op and post op (with a few complications). Thanks Audree, for the info on erosion. I'm 6 days post-op and feeling great. It's amazing not to have hunger pains and to be satisfied with small amounts of mostly liquid food (I'm not crazy, I know it won't last forever). Today I had a staff retreat at the nicest restaurant in town with a catered lunch. I had made arrangements to have tomato basil soup as my entree. So while everyone else ate soup, and then their entrees and finished things off with cheesecake, I slowly ate my soup and it was great!!!!! I felt satisfied, and everything was okay. I also went out to eat after church yesterday to Souper Salad where they charge the one price no matter what and I told the guy that I had WLS last week and I could only eat a very small amount of soup and he needed to only charge me for a to go portion of soup - and he did! I've never been shy but I feel a certain empowerment with the band that I haven't had before. I just know I am going to be successful this time and I just made the decision that I have the right to ask for what I want and what is best for me. Just thought I'd share my NSV's (non-scale victories!) the scale victory this morning was pretty great too - drum roll please - for the first time in a year I weigh less than 300 pounds - WOOHOO - 12 pounds down (I know Cindy said not to weigh - but that's an addiction I haven't been victorious over!) To all of you that haven't been banded yet - it's only been a week and I already believe that this little silicone band is one of the best things I've ever done for myself. Later, Amy
  6. Hello ladies...so I had a NSV today....guess who bought shorts in a size 12 🤚🏼🙋🏼 I was a 16 just 1 month ago.... wooo hooo I also bought 2 medium size shirts I was an XL looking forward to buying more clothes but not to much right now lol
  7. Here's a summary, as far as I understand it. Greg and Becky, you may have different ideas. Anyone interested will weigh in on Monday, Nov. 22, & send a PM to Greg. Then we just start exercising like fiends. Check in on the thread on Mondays if you can & report your exercise for the last week. The challenge runs through Monday, Jan. 3, when we'll report our final weights, and also tell how we're feeling and any NSVs (inches lost, muscle gained, blood pressure down, construction workers whistling, etc.). I don't know if the winner should be chosen based on most exercise, most weight lost, or best description of Greg in his thong Speedo; I leave that up to wiser heads.

    Weekly Challenge

OH MY GOSH MARIE, that's the biggest NSV ever! I have never weighed less than any man in my life... EVER. I just got my new drivers license (I'm laughing) and I put 190 for the weight. That's hysterical - I'd be bone thin at 190. So hubby says, "so honey, do you really weigh less than me?" Uh, NO! CONGRADS! Penni, I agree that you'd have gained way more pre-band. One pound isn't even fat, and you know it. It's just some water fluctuation. You can't gain a pound unless you consumed more calories than you should have, and we both know you made some bad choices, but heck, you eat tiny food now. You didn't gain a pound, seriously. By the way, I went to a new doctor, and his scale shows me a full 10 pounds lighter. I gotta steal that scale!

    Fenton vs. PRCowboy Challenge

Harold - I will be sure to send candies - sugar free of course !!! David - thanks - I'll take any and all inspiration. Honestly, I'm not upset, actually quite happy where I am. I see other NSV's all along (especially clothes) that keep me happy away from the scale. I bust my butt at least 5 days at the gym, eat like a "normal" human being and when I don't, the band is there to remind me. I feel better now than I have in years. I know its just a number, but would like to see myself at overweight, not obese sooner than later....
  10. Everybody has been so quiet lately, so I thought I would start a new topic on how we are all doing. Just a topic where we can check in when we can. I'm doing okay -- the weight loss has definitely slowed down, so I've had to bump up the exercise and adjust my eating a little bit to shake it up. I've only had one fill, and will probably get another one at the end of this month. I think I need it, because I've been getting a little hungrier than usual -- I'm not snacking a whole lot, but sometimes I eat and think "geesh, should a banded person be able to eat that much?!" Overall, I'm feeling MUCH better than I did a couple of months ago -- more energy, sleeping better, able to keep up with my kids a lot easier, and (I think my fellow lady bandster will be able to relate) -- I can sit and cross my legs very easily now, which a major NSV for me! I love the band, and what it has helped me to achieve so far -- I think that I just need to work a little harder on my end (before surgery, my doctor told me that losing with the band is about 5-10% device/90-95% you, and that it does take work...I'm feeling that now). Hope to hear from you all -- I miss chatting with you. :welldoneclap:

You know, sometimes you don't realize you've experienced a NSV right away but then it dawns on you.... Just a few minutes ago, I was on my work laptop just to check my messages because I took yesterday off as a personal day. So, I'm sitting on the couch and reading/writing emails when it occurs to me that my laptop actually fits on my lap. It's sitting perfectly level on my lap...and not up on my belly as it used to. Hallelujah....another drop in the 'I'm normal' bucket.

NSV. Walked into a restaurant bathroom last night and was faced with the big handicap stall and the "small" stall. Almost went to the big one when I realized I now have room to move around in the smaller one. It's awesome feeling "normal."

Don't quite know how to explain this is as a NSV but I hug people. A lot and often and even ones that I'm merely an acquaintance with.

My NSV today: I have to wear hospital scrubs at work. The trim is colored by size. How embarrassing. Well, they go up to a 2X which is pink. And then, because apparently fat people don't want clothes that fit, they skip to brown, which is a 5x. I managed to still squeeze into a pink top, but I was wearing brown pants. Which were way too big. Today I fit into the pink 2X pants! Yay!!! Side note: If it's ok to only provide two sizes for fat people (2x and 5x), then why don't they throw away the smalls and meduims and make them all wear larges? I have always thought this is fat discrimination!

Yes, you are right. There's a stigma with being overweight. One of the things that pushed me over the edge and made me decide to do this - was during the summer my husband worked out of state and me & the kids went to visit and he introduced me to a guy that he was working with - I was so embarrassed. I felt I looked terrible. My husband never said a word about me being overweight. So - this story does have an NSV - since I have lost almost 40 pounds he comments on me every single day about how good I look!

Hello everyone!! I have not been posting a lot but I have been reading and taking notes!! That is the only way to make sure I write the correct comments to the right people!! LOL! Lady-I am at the same size as you!! 14-16 depending on the store. How exciting to look in the mirror and see your collarbone!! You stated you wanted to be able to be full at 1/4 cup, but I do not think that is the right amount. At the beginning right after surgery it was 1/4 cup, but as we have healed our stomachs have stretch again. My doctor always asks me if I can eat a full chicken breast in a 20 minute setting and I respond I eat slow so I can eat a full chicken breast (about 1/2 cup) and veggies (1/2 cup or more) in 30 minutes and he was very happy about that. As for being able to eat bread and pasta, I haven't even tried pasta, rice or soft bread. I have eaten a Panini, extra crispy and felt uncomfortable, like almost stuck. Oh and I am at 3.4cc in a 10cc band and I am not tight in the morning yet. I think you might be close to your "sweet spot" maybe just a .2cc away!! Horsegirl and Otaknam-I was stuck at 220 for awhile and it took over a month to kick that plateau, but it happened very suddenly!! Good luck! Also I was told by my doctor that the weightloss will slow down quite a bit after the first 6 mths, the body looses a lot when it has a lot to loose and looses a little when it has a little to loose. I know it sucks, but we have all lost a lot, more than any diet we have ever been on!! I keep reminding myself I know it will take over a year to hit my goal weight so why am I rushing myself!!! And I hear all of you on the water retention!!! I can't wait for Fall to get here so I can see the scale go down a little faster! Horsegirl- congrats on the new workout clothes!! That was one of my favorite NSV when my XL workout clothes were loose!! I now love shopping for workout clothes now since I can get them from anywhere instead of having to order online and hope for the best! I love to shop too!!! JDI-Don't beat yourself up for eating solids during your liquid/mush stage, I've done it too! This time I am trying to be good, but I too am hungry!! I was wondering, did you get stuck at all?? To me it is kind of a test to see if the fill did any good. You should be so proud of yourself to handle all of the stress and still loose!! In the past stress would cause us to binge, now we just have a cookie, enjoy it and move on! Go us!!! I can't believe you are down 72lbs that is amazing!!! I am looking forward to my 71lbs lost putting me for the first time in 16 years below 200!!! Erica-you made me realize I am over my halfway point too! I didn't even think of it that way!! I was spending all of my energy trying to get to Onederland that I did not thing about my 1/2 way point!!! I have lost 53% of my goal loss!!! Thanks for helping me see the good in what I have accomplished!! Chrissy-you are so right about comparing our self to what we looked like last year! My sister took a picture of me while on vacation and it is now my FB profile pic and everyone is complementing me on how good I look, so I looked at all of my previous profile pics and I totally see the difference. I also looked at my drivers license and I am totally getting a new one!! Again congrats on the Onelander and 75lbs!!! Now for my update! I got .2cc on Thursday and I am suppose to do 2 days liquids and 2 days mushies, and I am starving!! This time I am sticking to it though I would like the liquid loss!! So far I am doing pretty good on my new goals, except the exercise this week, but that is due to being on vacation, so I will start again next week which is tomorrow!!LOL. I think we should repost our goals and stated how we are doing on them at least once a week. I will try to post mine on Saturdays!! That way we can be reminded of each others goals!! Have a good week everyone and look at some old pics to give you some NSV!! Don't forget to look at your drivers license too!!

Erica...I would feel betrayed too. No one in management is supposed to reveal that kind of information about you to anyone. However, I agree with Nicki...I wouldn't make a big fuss about it as it will just blow up. Work it girl...and then be a model (a super model!) of why you did it. Meredith...great NSV!!! I think I'm really close to a 16...or a 16W anyway. All my skirts and pants are too big. I don't know what I'm going to do! LOL. Nicki...doing okay. Still haven't moved but I haven't gone up either. I'm doing more liquids and mushies than anything else. Today is a rest day from exercise...though I might decide to get out on my bike this evening. I just did not feel like getting out of bed for that 2 mile walk this morning. LOL. Plus...I think I'm somewhat constipated (I know...TMI)...so I feel like when things "get moving" there, I'll see a change in the scale. Just trying to keep drinking water and not get dehydrated...its so HOT and HUMID in Nashville! ugh! I'm not doing great with logging my food. I MUST get back into that habit. In fact...I'm going to do that now. Have a great day everyone!

@@2babutterfly - I had enough of the emotional, and literal, roller coaster ride with the scale. My husband put it somewhere out of my sight & reach. I now weigh only monthly at the doc. For me it works, allows me to celebrate little NSVs. You do what works for you, just don't let it get you down. Let's celebrate eating clean and hitting the gym! YEAH YOU!!!!

Kymie, loved your most recent post. Great NSV and good reminders to us all. Well-said. JDI, I so very much hear your frustration, but you are going in the right direction for sure and you can do it. Half a pound after a big 5 pound loss is really, really good when you think about it realistically. BTW my bandiversary was Jan 18. I thought it would be a big day for me, but was so busy I forgot! Sue, how very cool for the plastics opportunity and even more for being pain free. Nicole, it's your year for sure. Newbies, welcome to you ... And may we suggest that start reading this thread from page 1... It's got to be chockful of info over this past year. Lol. Hard to believe we are now experienced!! :-) OK now for a drumroll please...... I weigh 169 this morning!!!! I know that is only a 1 pound loss (in 2 months no less).... But you all know how I wanted to get past 170, and I did! I did! I did! Oh my looking at this post seems kind of silly, but there are a couple of you out there (NJ are you out there) that get what this one pound means to me. A whole, whole lot.. Have a beautiful weekend everyone. :-)

Halloween Hording! Well last year and probably all previous Halloweens I would buy the candy in bulk and "hide it" from everyone in the house so there would be some for the trick or treaters. LOL yah right! Since "I" knew where it was I would probably eat about half of the stash. Also since I work at a school, but not as a teacher I would float from class party to class party collecting yummy goodies. Well this year it has made it half way to Halloween and I haven't even thought about buying candy. NSV!! I was at the store today and noticed I was in the seasonal isle and didn't even think about grabbing a bag! I also have a very busy day scheduled for the 31st to avoid classrooms & staff rooms. If I start to feel worried I might just call in sick!! I will not gorge myself this year!!!!! So being in the season what are your Halloween should not and will dos??

Sounds like everyone is doing well as usual! Erica, that's a bummer that somebody blabbed at work... I haven't told anyone except a relative at my workplace either, but I have a feeling some may know because no one ever asks me about my current eating habits and they always used to on every diet (many!) that I've been on. That's one of the reasons I didn't tell people, because I can't stand it when people ask for updates (how much have you lost? How much do plan to lose? Etc). It could be that they are just not that interested anymore, but either way, I've decided that I won't make it an issue anymore. Glad you're taking the "super-model" approach! Kymie, thanks for the info link ... And Amica, for the recipe. Crissylu and JustDoIt, you guys are my role models and so inspirational! Nicole, congrats to you on some revved up positive attitude, you'll do great, and Meredith, great NSV. Last time I posted I was having irritation when I swallowed food. I guess I was overreacting, because it went away after a couple of days eating soft foods and has been OK since. I went for my fill on Wednesday and even though I've only lost 4 pounds in the 2 months since my last fill, the doc gave me a .2 cc fill and said I was doing quite well, slow and steady. He asked how long did I feel "something" after the last fill and I told him for about a month and he said I was probably getting very close to where I needed to be, and that very small amounts make a big difference at this stage. Anyway, I totally forgot to ask how much I have in my band at this point!! I think it's like 3.5 or something. My goal to the end of the month is to crank up the water, get in more exercise, eat only "healthy" choices as well as small portions, and to rev up this weight loss! Cheers to all of you, love reading your posts.
