I'm finally in the 170's!!! I'm so relieved to see the 170's I can't tell you! My primary goal is 169 lbs, and my birthday is in 2 weeks. Today I weighed in at 177.9, which means I'm only 8 lbs away from my goal- most importantly my birthday is in 2 weeks!!!!! I want so badly to make my goal by my birthday, a present I've never really been able to give myself before. I have friends coming to visit me and I'd like to get dressed up in a fabulous tight dress and show everyone AND take pics!! I still haven't told the rest of my social world about my surgery (not really planning too) but I also haven't posted ANY pics since my weight loss started, and now every time someone see's me they kind of freak out a little bit. So I figure my birthday in two weeks is a great coming out party for weight loss pics, and even bigger motivator to get this last 8 lbs off! I can do this! And my NSV this week? NSV... my skinny jeans/pants I bought in Nurnberg, Germany years ago on the Euro size chart at H&M... FIT! Like a glove. Hallelujia! About a size 9/10 on the American standard. Here is my before and after 2.5 months after surgery! Size 16 to size 9/10!!!! Check out the before and after below!! Height: 5'9 Highest Weight: 216 1st Goal Weight: 169 Sleeved: (8/17/2012): 216 lbs Week 1 (8/24): 204.8 (-11.2) Week 2 (8/31): 200.6 (-4.2) Week 3 (9/7): 196.8 (-3.8) Week 4 (9/14): 193.5 (-3.3) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> 9/17/12- 1 Month Anniversary w/Pics Posted in Blog Week 5 (9/21): 191.6 (-1.9) Week 6 (9/28): 190.1 (-1.5) Week 7 (10/5): 187.0 (-3.1) Week 8 (10/12): 181.9 (-5.1) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~> 10/17/12- 2 Month Anniversary w/Pics Posted in Blog Week 9 (10/19): 181.4 (-.5) Week 10 (10/26): 177.9 (-3.5)

Hi Amica- some awesome NSV's!! And a 5 k, that's awesome! Maybe I should sign up for one, that will be some motivation. Nicole- I know you're looking out for my best interest. You know the old joke, how many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? One, but the light bulb really has to WANT to change. Right now I want a pause. Not a stop, but an evaluation period. I'm not happy with where I am now, but happy with the progress I've made. I appreciate your comments and know them to be true at the core and I will deal with it, I promise. Just have to get back in the right direction. Where is everyone else? Post! I'm struggling, let me hear everyone else's struggles/victories!!! Nicki

I agree Maggie! School work plus exercise is difficult, I couldn't imagine juggling a job too! But I will say, one of the biggest NSV I've had is not only fitting into the desks and lecture hall seats, but actually having room to wiggle about!

Lose_It, we all have bad days. Be determined to make tomorrow a better one. And if you know your eating may not be the best on a day make sure to get that exercise in. I am proud of you for making the needed changes to make your health a priority. I know how you feel 100%.. My temp job has taken over my life... I'm not even dinner til 9pm some nights and when I do it's a lean cuisine. Gotta readjust my priorities :/ Breakfast - 6oz yogurt lunch - 2/3c chicken chili, 3 tortilla chips, 1/4 banana snack - 5oz vanilla yogurt, 1/8c blueberries Dinner - 2/3 lean cuisine fajita egg rolls with 2 tbsp hot salsa, 1/2 plum. Worst heartburn ever!!! UGH. Snack - 8oz milk.. Hope this helps with heart burn. Exercise - 30 min elliptical Had a NSV today. Went to Victoria's Secret, got measured (I actually fit into their stuff for the first time in my life) and bought a gorgeous bra and panty set. I feel sexy in it! Who woulda thought? Proud of you all.. Lets keep up the good work going into the weekend.

Hi all! I am 7 weeks post op and had an appointment with my metabolic physician today. I have lost a total of 37 pounds , I'm down one size in shirts, and 2 sizes in pants, I've actually been able to wear regular shoes (not wide-widths) that are comfy and stylish, and I'm also wearing rings and bracelets that I haven't been able to wear in years. I've had a lot of NSVs and I think they feel better than seeing the numbers going down on the scale (I'm also not weighing myself except for when I go to the doctor every 4 weeks or so). I hired a personal trainer to work out with and help me develop a good exercise regimen. I still have some discomfort every now and then with my incisions and what I guess is internal healing but its not often. My bloodwork came back good, too. The only thing that was a problem was that I apparently have an under-active thyroid, my sugar levels were still a little high (but lower than pre-surg) and my Vitamin D levels were low. So I'll start a Vitamin D supplement and was prescribed something for my thyroid. I'll continue taking my acid reflux medication as well as my Multivitamin and Calcium supplement, but other than that, no other meds!!! As far as my sugars, that will continue to go down with diet and exercise. They expect within 3 months that all my levels will be perfect since I'm already doing so well. I'm really excited about this journey so far. I've been so pleased with my recovery and have had very few complications. I'm on a regular diet, have had pretty much no issues with food, and overall just feeling great. Fingers crossed it continues!

I will be 3 months post op on Nov 2 and I'm down 34.6 lbs (now 166.6) and at work today they had cake for a going away party and I said I don't eat sugar and someone said to me "is that how you stay so thin?" Really, me "thin"....I can't even fathom that word. But it made my day and reminds me how blessed I am to have been able to have this surgery.

Hi all! Checking in with some NSVs! We went on vacation to Myrtle Beach 2 weeks ago and I didn't gain anything! I was conscious of what I ate but I didn't limit myself (red velvet donuts are delicious!) but I still didn't gain. In my pre-band life we'd be talking a minimum gain of 5 pounds! I also wore a 2 piece bathing suit! Probably to the horror if the rest of the resort, but who cares! I'm okay with my stomach, my thighs and arms are my trouble zones and they would have been a problem in a one piece! This weekend I'm doing my first 5k! I won't be running, but I'm still amazed I signed up! I'm surprising my best friend in NC who was just diagnosed and treated for breast cancer; I'll be walking on her team. Also - my parents were up this past weekend for a quick visit. I saw them in June and had lost 35 pounds, but I'm up to 73 now. My mom said if she had passed me in the mall she wouldn't have even recognized me! Is that good or bad??? Ha! I think I'll be okay for the holidays. I really feel my restriction and try to avoid at all costs the pain I get from overeating. Does anybody else get "ice cream headaches" when they eat too fast? I get pain at the band but also a horrible forehead headache if I cram it in! I'm okay with a bite or 2 of DH's dessert. We'll see how it goes though.

just finished packing for our trip and my clothes only takes up about a third of the space the old big clothes use to take!Am just so excited to just get away for a few days and am not worried about the eating anymore. We joked about it today as I have a mild bout of gastritis again and with the meds and the pain eating causes,I know I will be fine eating very, very little.Very timely, one wouldnt usually say of something like this! We did another strange thing.Phoned the hotel and asked if we could bring our mini freezer (actually a camping fridge freezer...lol) as I have special dietary needs,I need sf popcicles so that I am not tempted to eat real ice cream...hehehe!It is a VERY special need indeed! Here in the Middle east you will often find people bringing boxes of snacks and food when they stay at the 5 star resorts. The staff never says anything, the local habits are just different. We've never done anything like this before but I feel myself a local this week (been here 11 years and should qualify by now..lol) See you all next week!

Love having nsv moments! Congrats!! -
This is my first time back to work and ordering with everyone. I felt really good being able to join in and not feel like I am so restricted. I just chose healthy and ate a small portion. We can get back to normal. This was a huge salad. I will be 7 weeks tomorrow. This is what I ordered Grilled Chick Salad w/ff feta This is what I ate from that. It took 35 min to eat.

I agree with cowgirl..I'm a journaling person and going back and reading stuff I've written about a year, 3 years, even 7 years ago has been a big part in why I decided to go forward with this surgery. I had myself in tears realizing I've just been spinning my wheels for the last 10-15 years of my life, trying and failing so many times. I'm so ready to GO FORWARD! My goals: 1. Reduce or eliminate my asthma medication 2. Be able to ride my horse at a trot without getting out of breath. 3. Not have to drag this weight around anymore. 4. Less or no body aches. 5. Not have my arms stick out like a linebacker when I walk 6. Wear cuter clothes, and look nice in them 7. More energy 8. Be around and active for my grandchildren. 9. Feel in control of what I eat 10. Feel small in my husband's arms  I guess these are all NSVs...I've been obese for so long I've forgotten what it felt/looked like when I weighed 116...that was in the ninth grade!!

Please Excuse My Dumb Question...
A New New Dawn replied to DBRN1972's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
LOL, I had the same questions when I came on this forum... I had to ask what all the acronyms meant. I didn't know what NSV meant either (which is a non-scale victory).
