Thanks Elisabeth!!! I had the best NSV on Mother's Day!!! My husband and son gave me a giftcard for The Avenue for Mother's Day and let me spend the afternoon shopping with my mom. I needed clothes desperately as everything is falling off of me and my husband said he had no idea what size to buy. When I got to the store I guessed that I would be a size 18 because I just bought a cocktail dress in that size two weeks ago. I tried on a pair of 18 capris....and they were too big!!! Yup, I'm a size 16!!!! A 16!!!!! Have I mentioned that I started this process as a size 30? I was so excited that I actually started shouting "woo hoo!" in the middle of the fitting room!! I haven't been a size 16 since high school! As a matter of fact, my senior prom dress was an 18! I'm so excited that I think when I wear my new clothes, I'm gonna announce to everyone and anyone..."Oh, by the way, I'm wearing a size 16!!!" LMAO!!

Coops, congrats on your boxing NSV! I think that's awesome! And congrats, Thin, on getting back to the gym. Escape, you are soooo close, that's really exciting! I did OK today. I'm trying to figure out the balance of getting back into the gym. I am still sore from my run on Sunday, so I think I overdid it. I've done pretty well with the food, but I find that my carbs are still a bit high. I feel good that i am re-focusing however. Day by day, getting better and healthier.

That. is. AWESOME!!! So presumably, you also wore your swimsuit in public as well?? How did that go? Congrats, HUGE NSV!!!! <3

Way to go with the weight loss and the NSV! -
No Kathy, no slow loser for you, but I'll spot you the "stuck loser!" (((((hugs)))) Okay, you've been on a plateau for a few weeks. Really a frustrating place to be. So you've had a couple of sodas lately. So you've had some medicinal chocolate. SO WHAT! We love you anyway. Gotta get moving though. If you are at the bars, get dancing! Shake that bootie, all night long baby. As for the sodas, there is some research that diet soda contributes to obesity. I drink the occasional soda, and I do mean occasional, like maybe a bottle a month. But I only drink sodas that are sweetened with cane sugar, and don't have any high fructose corn syrup, which in my mind, is the only truely evil food. The sodas are more expensive than your typical can of coke, but it's a rare treat for me. I think everyone has those fluctuating restrictive days, and they are sure frustrating. I know that for me it is helping me understand my Cushing's, that the days I'm really restricted are the days my cortisol levels are high. (I'm such a science experiment!) I don't know how to help you ride them out, but if yyou are *too* restricted too often, I'd schedule a small unfill. So you haven't been excersizing. Get moving woman! get out side and play with those kids, make up a huge 5 gal bucket of bubbles and play with the kids. Get a giant rope and play jump rope with the neighborhood kids. Get some rollerskates, go dancing, do some yard work. Move, move, move! You don't have to "excersize" to get moving. Maybe you just need to change how you are moving. Call your local parks and rec department and see if there are any belly dancing classes in your area! I know how hard it is to be motivated when you don't *see* any movement on the scales. Are you tracking other things? I haven't seen you start your "Tattooed TX Mommy's Amazing NSV List." Please go and talk a good look at your NSVs. Perhaps you are compacting, and losing inches. We see this over and over where people will hit a plateau while their body catches up to all the rapid weight loss. Be kind to yourself. Never give up, never surrender!

Roll Call! Here! WITH an NSV thread, thank you!

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. (When something happens that isn't related to the scale, that tells you you've lost weight) I am a really slow loser too. It's maddening. It would seem that as little as I am eating now, the weight should be falling off, but it's not. Exercise makes a huge difference, but some days I just can't force myself to go.

I do the same thing, sneak down there, up and down and up and down. Which all adds up to alot of nothing. Okay, at 1/2 pound per week, it will take me 84 weeks to get to 145. That's about a year and a half. Blech. Have you started your NSV list yet?

Amazing NSV, I went to my WLS support group meeting and a girl I haven't seen in a while nearly feel out of her chair. Her eyes popped out of her head and she said " OMG you look amazing, you whole body has shrunk!" It made my night! -
How are the jewels of June doing
mnbsleeve replied to A New Me's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello Jewels! I'm such a dork! I had not seen this threat before! At 4/12 months out I am doing great. I've resumed my life pretty normally. It's included travel, family reunions and celebrations. I am working out and staying active. I feel well, energetic - which is good. I've had lots of stalls but I have come to accept that this is how my body seems to do things because at some point I also get these big drops. Overall, I am thrilled with my sleeve. I am right about to get out of the 190's!!!!! I am at 191 this morning!!! Maybe I can do it by the end of the month!!!! (In 5 days?!) I'll be working out extra hard this week to "help my body" along :-) Hope everyone is doing well. I love reading the progress posts, especially pics!!! I have to post some myself. I also love reading the NSV's. It so inspiring when I see people changing -- their lives really!!! Best to all of you!!! I'm sure I will "run into you" in the boards!!!!! -
Oh Candykisses, I am right there with you and your pain and frustrations. At about 4 1/2 maybe 5 months out I pitched the BIGGEST hissy-fit I've had in a long time. I actually threw my shoes I was ao mad. I came this close to breaking a window my the clinic, this close! I'd had my first fill, and after a month and a half, I lost one pound. Man, I'm starting to cry writing this. I've been such a good girl with this thing. And yet because I haven't had any significant losses on the scale I feel like a failure myself. 1200 calories a day didn't do anything. 1000 calories a days didn't do anything. Well, I'm down around 700 calories aday. and we will see if this has any effect. I plan to go weigh myself this Thursday. That will be 1.5 weeks after this latest fill. I will continue at this level at least until I go back next month for my next appointment at the clinic. Candy, you started at almost 300 pounds. I'm going to bet that you were not very active before you were banded. Certianly not very aerobicly active. The fact that you are going to yoga 3 days a week is AMAZING and this, for me, would be a huge NSV! You said yourself that you are feeling better than you have in a long time. I think you should stay with the yoga for now. It will continue to improve your strength and flexibility. However, I don't think that it will do much to tone you up, and it certianly isn't aerobic. It probably won't tone you up like working with weights will, but it is making you feel better, and it is also making you better. I know how hard this is. I also know how hard it is to deal with folks who suspect that we are cheating, especially when by all logic we should be losing weight. We shouldn't need to resort to Diet pills. But maybe Kathy needs one now and again. If I don't lose any weight at 700 calories I'm going to march into my PCP's office and demand answers. I have a low thyroid, but it falls in the "low normal" range, and she wouldn't prescibe any medication for it. Maybe I need to go on meridia for a while, maybe I need to go on diet pills too. I wish I had answers. All I have are weak platitudes, all I have are questions.

I second! Well stated, VQ. There have been a few times I have wanted to post a link to this thread and had to go digging. As turtles, our activity is a bit more sporadic and we go a week or two or more! with not much to report. I'd love to see this Stickied! Going now to add another NSV to my list...

Ok, I shared this link on the OOTD thread, but there is an NSV here too... The boots I'm wearing are not only regular calf width boots, but for the FIRST TIME EVER, I was able to easily zip boots over jeans! AND still have room to spare to put on some nice warm knee high socks when it gets colder!

yesterdays NSV - I was able to buy a few items of clothes at a physical Old Navy store because I didn't need plus size . Today, I realized I needed to go and exchange a couple sweaters because they're too large! So I was able to buy XL sweaters! (even though I know ON runs large, still excited).

Other nsv, my new obsession with actually trying on clothes lol. Was always afraid to because things didn’t fit and I’d be disappointed. Not the case anymore!

Crossing my legs has been one of the most exciting NSV for me

Another NSV - this week is getting CRAZY! I saw my 4 year crush yesterday - and his mouth DROPPED, he could not keep his hands off my side/waist, hugging me, ect - it was so so so cute. Kept saying how good I looked, how healthy I looked. Granted he would flirt with me at any weight but I had not seen him in 45 lbs! ahahahahah That was my dream come true! 1 crush down 1 more to go! hahahah

Way to go everyone on your NSVs! I just came back from a vacation and I had so many. To start, I was comfortable (as much as one could be) in the airplane seat. I had room to spare in the seat, the seat belt fit without a question, the tray table was no where near my stomach and I could actually cross my legs while sitting too! I got so many complements from people who I haven't seen in a year and a half and 115lbs ago! I went hiking with my friends and I had the most energy out of all of them. Everyone used to have to wait for me to catch my breath going up the hill, but this time it was me who was waiting for my friends to catch their breaths! I did so much walking on my trip and I wouldn't have been willing to do all that walking when I weighed a lot more.

My NSV this week is crazy. I posted a pic in the beginning, of me in a Mets jersey and you can see how tight it was. Well yesterday, went to Opening Day, no photo though, and was able to have a turtleneck sweater on underneath and still button the jersey up and move around in it. Not to mention, not being wedged in the seat this season either.

No one has posted in this thread for a few days, so I thought I'd bring it back. My NSVs of late: I have collarbones! I have just one pair of pants that fits me now (which kind of sucks, too, but I'm claiming it as a victory)! The bf has commented several times on my, uh, increased flexibility. Best of all, my blood pressure, which was at 139/90 in February, this morning was at 120/76! Woohoo! What NSVs have you guys had lately?
-
Yay fantastic NSV's everyone. Ninja - I had to giggle at the "You look more compact, somehow" comment - that is such a man thing to say ... compact. Very awesome and very funny!

Keep it going guys! WTG! Well this one is really a scale victory but an nsv for me. I am no longer obese anymore!!! I am only overweight! Less than 8 months ago I was morbidly obese! I have been morbidly obese since I was 13 and obese since I was at least 9. And here I am today with a BMI of 29.9! It's hard to imagine. And the last time I weighed 191lbs was when I was 11 years old.....and 5 inches shorter. To add to all that, I can now shop in the misses department as everything is too big in the woman's department. I don't think I have ever done that. I can fit into a 16 skirt (and I even fit into a 14 once!) and I'm wearing an XL/L shirt depending on the store. I bought myself some shirts on sale in a Medium (GASP) for the fall. The thought of even purchasing a medium is baffling...me? possibly wear a medium? Thanks guys for letting me share these exciting occasions with you!

Oh wow, that is a NSV I really want to have. Congrats, it is the little things sometimes that makes this forum so awesome to keep coming back to.

The theatre in my home town is so old that the seats are tiny and you can't move the arm rests for more room. To get into the seats I would have to squeeze in and it was painful to squeeze past the armrests much less sit comfortably. These seats are so small that my fiancé who is not overweight is not comfortable in the chairs. We went to this theatre yesterday because we didn't have time to get to the bigger theatre before the movie started. Well, I was not only able to get into and out of the chair without rubbing against the armrests I was able to watch the movie semi-comfortably!! Granted I don't think anyone can sit in those chairs comfortably. But I actually had about an inch space on each side of me!! Happy dance!!
