    No weightloss 1 month PO

I am 6 weeks out from RouxNY . I lost 30 lbs in 4 weeks. The last 2 weeks 3 lbs. Is this a stall as well. Also really struggling with getting 64ounces of fluid snd 90 grams of protein I . Will this hurt my progress?
  4. On the 3rd of April i was scheduled for my gastric sleeve. That went great. i woke up with tons of pain all in my shoulder and belly. I had a extremely hard time drinking water but day 4 and it’s been much easier for me to get down the clear liquid broth that my mum made for me. It was really hard for me the first couple of days as i felt extremely nauseous and suffer with ‘Emetophobia’ so as you can imagine this has been a very hard experience none the less. I was in hospital for 2 days and was sipping on my fluids enough to be sent home which was great as the hospital was very great, welcoming and attentive i just became really home sick the third morning i was there so glad they discharged me that day. I am currently taking laxative for number 2, paracetamol for baseline pain and acid reflux medication i forgot the name but i’ll make another post maybe later on ever medication i’m taking. My 5 incisions are feeling a little sore but nothing i can’t handle but they are getting particularly itchy. I have been taking powerade zero sugar, gatorade zero sugar and Sustagen for protein in the morning my stomach has been able to tolerate that well so i’ve been enjoying that. for lunch i had a beef that was boiled in fresh coriander and yummy potatoes. (the broth was strained) hahaha. right now just focusing to up my fluid intake as much as possible as i don’t want to be dehydrated and follow my surgeons instructions with the broth and protein milk which has been going good. 4th day has been amazing for me. I was super emotional the first 3 days but today has been great for me. I’ve lost 5KG which is great pre op i lost 3KG and post op i’ve lost 2KG. Any tips or tricks or suggestions from fellow sleevers please comment below i’d really appreciate the advice. Any post op sleevers the same time as me please leave a comment i’d love to see how you guys are coping. Stay safe xx
  5. Hey y'all I am 2 week post op and I'm soo happy that I will be starting stage 2 tomorrow I can't wait. I lost 18 lbs I'm soo proud of myself for being so patient and consistent through these two weeks cuz it's been hard these past few days to come to the second stage of this process trust me they were hard but I made it Sent from my moto g power (2022) using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. Hi all! I'm scheduled for VSG June 3 at Pompeii Surgical Center in Tijuana. This comes after years of fighting with Kaiser. My highest weight was 330...I'm 5'5". I just did my labs to get my A1C levels. They have to be below 7. (Current 6.5) Next I have to quit smoking. Which has been challenging. But I can't have nicotine or THC 30 days prior. So I'm trying to quit now. I struggle with vitamins they taste yucky to me...but each day has gotten better. I'm on barimelt but would be willing to try better tasting ones. I'm looking for "friends" who have walked this road.

    Hair Shedding & Hair Loss

The hair loss was scary. I can now see 3 inches of new hair growth. My surgery was in 11/2021. My hair was everywhere. I was afraid it wasn’t going to grow back. I took plenty of vitamins. I don’t think you can do anything to stop it, so save your money and take your regular Bariatric vitamins.
  8. Hi Everyone! I'm about 4 months post-op from gastric sleeve (12/2) and I have started noticing probably in the past 3 weeks that I feel nauseous from about 10am to 7pm unless I eat. It's almost like grazing to be honest. I might have lost 2lbs this month which is also concerning. I have tried my best to get back on a schedule (eating 3 to 5 times a day) the past week but the nausea is really hard to deal with. I don't eat on my 45 minute commute to and from work but the drive home is absolutely terrible. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue.

    Hair Shedding & Hair Loss

I have had 3 cycles of really noticeable hair loss since my sleeve 16+ months ago. It's finally (I hope!) growing back. I suspect it won't be as thick as it once was but I am totally OK with that. By the time it's falling out the new hair is already growing. I have never seen any decent evidence that any supplement makes any difference. In the same way the people talk about 'breaking' a stall by twiddling with protein and fluids and exercise and goodness knows that else, I think that people might attribute the regrowth to whatever supplement they were taking at the time whereas really it was just gonna grow back anyway. Human nature.
  10. Went through the entire program, 6 months. Did all the tests, appts, etc. Lost 60 lbs. Got a surgery date of 4/14 (a week from Friday). Started the pre-op diet on Sunday. Just got a call from my surgeon saying my insurance now wants to do an additional medical review and probably wont let me know until the day before surgery if I am approved. I find this completely unacceptable, and I'm so equally full of rage and sorrow right now I don't know what to do with myself. (Not to mention all the potentially lost wages for the time off I already booked)

I hope you are in surgery and they didn't cancel! I had to stop losing weight because I was paranoid they'd refuse mine.

  11. I am a little over 3 months post-op. I have lost close to 60 pounds now. I would like to lose another 20 pounds, and am on track to do that. I sometimes worry that I will lose too much but I know I'm just being ridiculous. 😂 I feel good even though I am still having issues meeting protein and fluid goals. I think I am going to go back to having protein soups for lunch to help with that. I've been trying to up my calories but having a hard time going much over 600-700 a day. I have tried all kinds of meat and veggies at this point and have only had issues with some chicken thighs one time, when I ate too much, too fast and got the foamies. All of my rings, shoes, and clothes are too big. It is expensive to lose weight. Today, I had someone not recognize me, which was wild.
  12. You will do it! Stalls are so frustrating.

    Worried I won't lose enough

I am a old'ish woman who has managed 141pounds so far with the sleeve. I can do very minimal exercise beyond walking and housework and one day a week working in a charity shop. I have dodgy knees. Anything I have done then you can too. I was not given a weight goal but my team were overjoyed in January when I weighed in and they did the math. I was way over the 60% expected weight loss Its your journey to better health, don't take too much notice of others. That route can be unsettling. I keep changing my goal, just to see if its possible. I dont know if I can reach 180 but to be honest, I am super happy at 199. I look fabulous now in the mirror [without my glasses on] I am amazed how good my sleeve has worked for me.
  14. I was 355 on the morning of surgery. I lost 40 pounds my first month. At 3 months, I was down 80. 5 months in, and my total loss was 115 (I had begun relatively intense exercise too). Enjoy the initial melt. It'll slow down. In my experience, this came at around the 3-4 month mark.

    1 week out

Yes the shoulder pain is from the surgical gas which is pumped into your abdominal cavity. It rises & settles behind your lungs putting pressure on nerves & causing shoulder pain. It takes about a week +/- to be fully absorbed into your lungs & breathed out. Best advice is always follow your plan. It is in place to protect your healing tummy & support your recovery. I always say: all because you can doesn’t mean you should. It’s not a race. There isn’t a prize for doing more or doing it sooner. You’ll be okay but don’t push your luck by continuing to do more than what is recommended - even though you may get frustrated.

    Stalles

Stalls will break when your body is ready. You can’t really force it to happen. If it broke when you did that before it is more likely because your body was ready to start to lose again & not because of dietary restriction or increased activity. Stalls are an important part of your weight loss as it is when your body resets itself in response to your weight loss to date (metabolism, hunger & satiety hormones, etc.). Stick to your plan & don’t stress your body more.
  18. I'm one year and 2 months out from MGB. I had my surgery in Egypt (self paid) end of January 2022. Starting weight 149 kg, current weight 78.8 kg (this morning). This forum has been a huge help for me since I did the surgery without any proper research which is not something that I'd usually do but I was really frustrated and fed up with trying to lose weight and not getting any lasting results. I'm not currently following any specific diet and I eat whatever I want (in very small quantities) - please don't tell my doctor haha. I eat my protein first, followed by vegetables and salad and then carbs if I'm still not full. I take 1/2 teaspoon of sugar with my morning coffee. Of course, I had to follow the program that was given to me after the surgery. I had a long stall for the past 3 months or so but luckily I'm losing again since I started fasting (the fasting month started 14 days ago). My current target is 70 kg (I'm 170 cm tall) and I can't wait to lose the last 9 kgs. I got a mountain bike when I was 120 kg and have been riding it around my house which helped with the weight loss. The longest distance for me was 8 km. It has been raining almost every night here and I've not been able to use the bike for almost 3 months or so.Hopefully the weather will improve soon. I'm working in a remote town and there is a small gym here. I'm to check it out next month. Here is a photo of me around 2013 that I found while organizing my laptop folders vs me this morning. Needless to say, life is getting better and better overall and I can't wait to try all the things that I've not been able to do because of my weight.

    How long to see improvement?

The first 2 days home were the worst. I stayed on each food level an extra week, and went back to liquids when I had an issue with food getting stuck. Just go slowly because it was a double surgery. I only used powdered Tylenol for pain meds because of allergies. Warm liquids felt better and moving often helped me feel like myself. (Communion wafers still get stuck and my doc said it was common 18 months post.)
  20. April 6th will be exactly 3 months post op (sleeved 01/06/23). I'm down 60.6 lbs. Overall, I feel great. No food restrictions and can tolerate everything I eat. 1000 calories a day with a minimum of 80 grams of protein.

    Feeling pretty low

It's between the 6 and 12 week mark most people have regrets...I know I did. I felt like I was wasting away, not losing weight in a healthy way. It will get better, to a point where one day soon you'll realize you feel "normal" again, and you'll get a burst of energy from carrying around so much less.

    Kids meals!

Red Robin has a kids meal with grilled chicken "dippers" and a side of veggies. I also like the "vegetable plate" kids meal from Cracker Barrel. It's just 3 sides of your choosing which can be side salads, etc.
  23. Hi. I had VSG on 3/27. I weighed 335 at my first doctor visit and lost 19 pounds presurgery. Anyways, I have been reading on here and I'm worried that my doctor should have recommended bypass vs. sleeve since I have so much weight to lose. He set my goal at 170. That's nearly 150 pounds. I haven't found anyone in here that has lost that much with sleeve. Am I worrying needlessly?
  24. Hi, I'm new to this forum. I am one week out from gastric sleeve surgery. During the first 4 days, I had terrible shoulder pain. My surgeon said it happens to some patients and is due to air left in the stomach after surgery. Currently, the pain comes back periodically. I have a fear of intaking too many ounces per hour. At my post-op discharge, I was told to try to get 4 ounces in per hour. On day 5 I was able to finish 4 oz in 30-45 minutes. My fear is that I will jeopardize the integrity of the stomach sutures. Has anybody else experienced these issues?
  25. I just started adding a lower calorie protein to my coffee throughout the day, just to hit a higher amount... I'm hoping that works, next step would be a week of liquids.
