Good Thursday Morning, Violets!~~ Hope this post posts today... man I was peeved yesterday when that post evaporated into the ozone! Not much to report... still going down & enjoying it!... scale read 277.6 today!... AND I'm expecting TOM to arrive on Saturday, so I can't figure how I'm still going down this week & not up... hmmmmmmmmmm... well, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth! (who made up that crazy saying, anyway??) Tracy, your rings are beautiful... I'm so excited for you! Ms Jen, Congrats on the meds! My docs told me to come back at -50 & we'd check med levels then. Adorable, Fantastic NSV! You go girl! Jenn, I agree w/Tracy... be gentle w/yourself... your bod has been going through a lot, physically & emotionally/stress-wise, and it's probably just catching up, levelling out, taking a break -- whatever you want to call it... keep on doing the right things & it'll pay off! In the meantime, pamper yourself! Wonder how Judy and her "Clay-mates" are doing on their trip! Make it a great day, everyone! -

Oh... and is this a NSV?????? I can now feel my port. It was weird. Last night while changing into my pj's I rubbed my belly and felt the hardness of my port and the even funnier thing is that it is NOT at ALL where I thought it was.. I guess I've lost enough belly fat to feel it. This morning I felt it again just to make sure I wasn't dreaming it. p.s. GOOD LUCK WITH FILL #2 Terri! -
Yeah, I know. I asked my daughter to do it! DH isn't allowed! LOL I am also going to take my measurements. I'm sure at some point it will come in handy when I need a NSV. I have some pics in my bedroom of my honeymoon (only 6 years ago) and I actually looked at them. They are my before the Before pictures ya know? What's worse is, I thought I was fat then! So sad. Shame on me. Good example of learning to love yourself and live for today.

So I had an NSV today too. I put on a pair of pants that I have been avoiding because before surgery they were super tight. Well, I put them on and they are comfortable now! YAY! CONGRATZ BRANDY!!! -

Good morning violets... I really don't have anything planned for New Years Eve. I have to work and dss and dsd are coming over today so they will be with us for the new year! First time they have slept at the new place and they are excited. Macy has been with my sister this weekend and she called me last night saying macy said her "cheek" hurts and was crying for me. Broke my heart! I think it is her ear. I am waiting for my sis to call me this morning to let me know how it went last night. Last time I talked to her she had given her some ibuprofin and ice cream and all was well. I hope it is not anything like an ear infection. The dr is probably closed until the 2nd. Went to wal-mart yesterday and got some 12/14 cotton pants (elastic waist) got home and put them on and was drowning in them. I know that cotton and elastic=bigger than normal but it was just the idea of exhanging an artical of clothing and getting a size with a single digit in it. I got 8/10 and they fit perfectly. Wow....the only single digit things I have ever worn is my rings and my shoes. Huge NSV for me! Back up to 184 today but that is not bad considering I ate WELL last night. DH and I went to a steakhouse and I had a ribeye, salad and some sweet potato. Laura-I love that VS top! Congrats on the new size! Maybe I will go look at the stuff on their website  Pamela-I like the bigger font you use, I can actually read it with no squinting! Suzie-that happened to me. I had an outfit in the closet (never worn) that I was dying to get into and I had to bring it to my mom the other day to take up because it is way too big now. Great feeling! Kat-sounds like a great NYE party you are going to. Can I go? :present: I bought an exercise ball yesterday (you know the big ones that you can sit on and lay on?) It comes with a DVD and I am going to start the new year out correctly and see if maybe these little fat wrinkles on my upper inner thighs will go away. I can tell I am just rambling now so I will go finish my coffee now and see what the TV says we have in store as far as weather is concerned. We have an auditor coming tomorrow to work to do year end inventory with us. Needless to say I plan on getting to work about 5:30 or 6 in the morning to get things as straight as possible before they arrive. Someone just shoot me now.... -

GOOD MORINING ALL! Happy Good Friday! I am off work today and my sons daycare is closed so it is just the two of us.. and after all our 80 degree days.. it is now SNOWING as I type this... WEIRD WEATHER.. all my tulips are frozen and laying on the ground... If you check out my ticker.. I am down yet again today.. making it 10 lbs since Monday.... the water weight I believe is done now and my loss will slow down.. although I had a really nice NSV.... A few weeks ago, I was disgusted with the lack of clothes in my closet that fit, and so when I saw a pair of size 22 jeans on the clearance rack for $6.00 so I bought them.. they looked big enough, but when I got them home I couldn't zip them up without laying on the bed and they were too tight to wear them at all, plus they were soooo uncomfortable I was afraid I'd bust out the zipper....... so I put them up.......... well for grins I tried them on today and they zipped RIGHT UP and I am wearing them as I type this! (I might add they are NOT stretchy) All of our bandsters that have posted: YAY!!!!!!!! It is your posts that keep me strong on this liquid diet. THANK YOU. To answer some questions: 1. I threw out the leftover dinner last night... YAY ME 2. I have not TRIED the Isopure Water yet.... I just ORDERED it BLINDLY.. and now I'm a little scared that I may have wasted my money, but I know that they do offer 40 oz of protein per bottle and my inability to WASTE things I know I will be drinking them during my clear stage.... I will evalute the taste of each one (since I bought a variety pack) 3. I bought them from GNC.com. I checked them out at my local store first, and then I bought them off the website for a lot better price..... I am still waiting for them to be delivered. 4. I did start my PRE-OP diet EARLY. I wanted to jumpstart my loss and put my stupid eating to an end. I really really really want to be in some of my old clothes by summer.... I'm hard headed and I just set my mind to do this... and the jeans I'm wearing today are just the beginning! Right now my son is wanting his breakfast, so I'll check back in a bit. -

I bought spanx from torrid.com once.. Even the biggest size (3x/4x), I couldn't get up my legs. I found something somewhere else, that is like a girdle for your thighs.. its spandex shorts with lots of spandex-y.. I wear that when I have to wear skirts so I don't chaff my thighs.. I wore them with jeans once, and from the gut holding in, it made my pants fall down constantly. Without getting into the detail, husband and I had our biggest fight in 3 years last night! I was feeling so horrible, I wanted to eat and eat and eat. Luckily, I didn't.. I just smoked half a pack of cigarettes in 30 minutes! Yuck. Paid for that this morning. And my eyes are swollen like crazy. I've been looking down a lot so people don't notice. I was in the bath last night till about 3am. Woke up an hour late for work No one said anything thank god, I didn't feel like coming up with some excuse. It's officially time for smaller jeans. I had this one pair of jeans I loved how they fit.. so I had bought 5 pairs, and I wore them 5 days a week. Well, they officially DO NOT fit. Belts make me break out in a rash, so I can't wear one all day... and these jeans..when I stand up, they slide down.. when I walk, I feel them moving down my butt. I ordered 3 new pair of pants from Alloy (thats where i get them.. they have the long inseams).. Normally, they have 2 brands that are super small (one is the NSV jeans I'm waiting to wear, lost since I moved, so they may fit, I don't know).. and 1 brand that was small but not too small.. So I always wore size 25 (the 5 jeans I have I always wear).. I ordered 1 22 and 2 23. I bought shorts before Vegas, and I got 20-22's that fit fine. Woowoo. I was knocking on size 30's door before the surgery, and now I'm into 20/22's. Still haven't weighed myself, I don't know why I forget when I go to my parent's house. I guess I'll just be surprised on Aug 6. Wedding Reception is saturday.. just finished up the final plans for the cake. It's going to be 3 tier, rounded corners, and round.. pale blue (delphinium) buttercream icing, with white swirly patterns all over.. and some blue baby's breath and white carnations on it (fake flowers). The tier we freeze is buttercream icing and filling, almond pound cake. The middle tier is fresh raspberry filling in almond pound cake with the buttercream icing. Bottom tier is half coconut-cream, half caramel buttercream, almond pound cake with the buttercream icing. Hungry yet? LOL We couldn't decide if we wanted caramel buttercream or strawberry, so the cake lady brought samples of both at 9am the other day, so I tasted it.. and it was so delicious.. and I made a point to take small bites.. despite the fact she brought about 1 cup of cake! Then she's like 'this is yours, eat it!'. I kept nudging husband to eat it for me. I had a couple more bites.. ho hum. Jen- Good luck on prospective new job :scales: Tracy-Your face is looking so skinny! Time to go fill my water bottle up.. -
That is an awesome NSV!!!

Ebony-yay on the NSV! As far as your DH, I think that is just a man thing. Don't let that steal your joy. I think a lot of men don't have whatever it is that should stop them from saying things like that. I know my DH has been known for saying things like that. I try not to ask him. Instead, I ask DS. He hasn't learned his father's lack of tact.

Hey Lizrbit - You are doing so great!!! all I can say is WOW!! Melissa - I am so sorry to hear about the tuff time your DH is having. It is so hard when the ones we love are struggling. You are in my toughts and prayers. I have not seen Sandra around here lately... HEY Sandra if you are lurking let us know how you and that baby are doing. We miss you!!! As I shared earlier I have been having reflux and heartburn problems lately. I went to the Doc last Friday, and he unfilled me, only left in 1/2 cc. All of the problems went away. He wants me to stay this way for about a month and let things calm down and then slowly refill me. Went on a motorcyle ride this weekend to Ashville,NC with a group of our friends, I did pretty good. Tried to eat alot of fruit and salads and drink lots of water. Have not been able to eat salads for a long time, so I enjoyed it. I still have some restriction, so I am trying to make good choices. It has just been wonderful to get a good nights rest and not wake up with acid in my mouth. Being overfilled is just not good! OH, NSV..... I needed a jacket to wear on the bike, and we stopped at this shop, I picked out this one I liked, got a size large to try on...... my DH looked at me and said "Honey, when are you going to see that you are no longer a large?", he then handed me a small..... yes I said size SMALL..... and it fit me perfect. My DH then looke at me and said "SEE, I told you so!" I never dreamed I would wear a size small. Of course I had to buy the jacket....... Oh, on a diffrent note, I have a grandbaby due this week. I am so very excited. It is a boy. He is due May 28th (my moms birthday)..... so we are on baby watch. She goes to the Doc today for a checkup, so we will know more of when to expect Ian Kenneth will be showing up. Hope eveyone had a great Memorial Day Holiday. Take it one day at a time, Laura

JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP
GingerSlim replied to SMED0308's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I survived my first dinner in a restaurant. Only ate the grilled chicken out of the taco. Did not eat the flour tortilla or the cilantro & cabbage that were also inside. I cut it up into the tiniest pieces ever. ( I think the waitress thought I was nuts). The only thing that bothered me was that I never got to even take a sip of my water ( damn half hour rule!) The "old me" would have been bothered by the massive amounts of wings & beer that surrounded me. Or the plate of "loaded tater tots" that the couple next to us had. But instead, this Sleevie Wonder was bothered by not being able to drink water when she wanted to. Should we chalk it up to a first NSV??? -
:update: I HAD MY VERY FIRST NSV TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! After I showered this morning, I was getting dressed, and I was able to put my bra on WITHOUT an extender this morning!!!! First time for that in YEARS. :humble:

Starting over, 5 years after surgery
Suziecat replied to TheCurvyMermaid's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh Amy, I'm so sorry for your day. And yes I have been there alot. As I get older and arthritis sets in, I find I can predict the weather better then the local weather men. And that can make or break a day also. I find the mornings I get up and the knees don't want to do what the rest of the body does, it's easier to just give in and get a big bowl of something. We also started out with grey skies this morning. They said it would warm up to 48 degrees and the sun would be out in the afternoon. 6:30pm and the sun is just now starting to come out as it is setting. We decided to take our grandniece to the Plaza to go see the bunnies. Turned out we only found 7 of them. I was under the impression that there was going to be a whole lot more. But we had fun and took pictures at each bunny. I had a banana before we left and then about 12:30 we stopped at burger king to get some lunch for Abby. I passed and continued to drink my bottle of water. We got home about an hour later and I didn't know what to have so I got 2 slices of deli ham and a cheese stick. For dinner I had the rest of my protein. So another good day for me. The only thing that I shouldn't have had today was popcorn. We bought the movie Ice Age and popped the popcorn. I had just a little over a cup of it. I have a NSV. About 8 months ago I was having my check up for the dentist. He was wanting to know what was happening with my teeth. I told him that I had gotten into the habit of eating lifesavers in bed at night while I read. I like to chew on them. A tootsie pop sucker only last about a minute before I go right for the center. So while I read I go thru about 8-10 lifesavers and he told me I was to knock it off. That was about 8 months ago. The last four nights, I'm proud to say that I have gone to bed with out any life savers. It's been hard but I have made it thru so. I hope my dentist will be proud of me. I got a lot of walking in today and I'm feeling it this evening. Luckly my niece is busy watching a movie and I can have some time to do laundry and rest a little. I don't have muc on my agenda for tomorrow. Probably some more coloring in the coloring book and playing old maid. Maybe a few more movies. I really enjoy these times and love teaching her new things. But I just can't get over how an 8 ear old can wear me out so fast. Amy, I hope everything goes well at your appointment tomorrow and that you get a fil. My appointment is next week and I think I am ready for this to be over. But for the most part I will proabably follow up with the protein drinks at least five times a week. I also hope I get a fill. Back to the laundry now. -

August Bandsters How are you Doing So Far
NanaRenan replied to MissNilsa's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Finally broke into the 280's.....was stuck between 294 and 296 for over two weeks and them spent a week -- IKYN -- bouncing between 290.4 and 290.8 -- EVERY FLIPPIN' DAY!!! (Save the lectures about weighing every day.....I've heard 'em all already!) Have PBed a few times -- not as bad as I had feared. I need to SLOW DOWN. Need to avoid HOLDING my food. Puts me in too much of a rush. First 2 PBs were eating something hand-held. I'm having to force myself to put it ON the plate and use my utensils. I must be one of those people who is extra constricted in the mornings -- in fact, if I have a short night, I can really expect a PB if I don't take it exceptionally slow at breakfast. I may never drink another protein shake or bowl of soup as long as I live -- I think I don't even like CHOCOLATE any more because it reminds me of shakes! How ghastly is THAT!!?! I went in on the 26th for my first fill, but he was concerned that it might take more than one stick to find my port....so he rescheduled me for the 8th. I REALLY want that fill. I've figured out I have more HEAD hunger than actual hunger. I do great at mealtimes, however, its the evening snacking that I fight -- even with the band. I have about three skirts that I've had to pull out of the closet because wearing them puts me at risk of public humiliation, because they could just fall off without warning. That's a NSV, right?? -
I have taken 3 big loads of clothes the the goodwill so far. I love the feeling of cleaning out the closet. I have kept a pair of 58 waist pant and a belt that worked with it for my "Trophy". I now stop at every Kohl's I see and check out the clearance racks. I only buy pants that are 80 or 90% off and my record is paying $4.50 for a pair of nice Docker's work Khakis. I bought a leather punch pliers to put new holes in my belts and have some with 4 new holes. I love that too. Clothes fit is such an NSV!!! I love to look for sales and buy ahead. I am in a 44 pants now, but have all I need in 42 already. I am an OPTIMIST!!!! Hope you all feel so good about this too. Isn't it great to shop with normal size people in the normal size people store??? My goal is to fit into the trendiest "Levi's" and I find they stop them at 38. Figure by summer I will be there!!! Happy Fashion Show!!! TJ

How is weight loss for people over 50?
Oregondaisy replied to debi717's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I haven't really had any NSV. When I first got banded and lost 22 lbs from 4 weeks of liquids, I pulled out a pair of pants that had been tight on me. I started wearing those and I can still wear them. Nobody has noticed that I have lost weight. I have only lost 5 lbs in the last 3 months, so I can see why nobody has noticed. -
Thanks Jill. Tonight I'm actually wearing my sister's old jeans-size 20!!!!!! (a major NSV for me!) I don't think I'm a 20 yet but for some unknown reason I was able to fit into this pair! Do you think I might be able to get away with this without total embarassment?

How about some NSVs!?!?
Princess Sarah replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nsv happened Saturday. I just got a cute new hair cute and had to go get cash due to the system being down at the salon. I went to 7-11 and was leaving the store when on of my friends walked right past me as if she didn't know me. I slapped her on her butt and she turned around having a look of shock on her face that was priceless! It took her a second to realize it was me. She had no words! It was pretty funny and made my day! -
How about some NSVs!?!?
Trayjay33 replied to shyanne's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not sure if this is a NSV but it was surprising. I usually put my hair bands around my wrist so I would have it handy. When I was overweight I would have to take it off shortly after putting it on because it would start squeezing my wrist. Today I realized I could keep it on all day but also when I pulled up my long sleeve shirt my hair band pulled up to my upper arm and I didn't realize it until I was looking for it to put in my hair. I guess my upper arm has gotten quite a bit smaller. -

I know this is women's territory. But I'd like to share my own NSV, if I may. I was going through my old clothes, (mostly suit coats and sweaters), which I haven't worn for over ten years and found out they all fit! A couple of my suit coats could even be altered now to make them double-breasted! But my 19-year-old daughter saw me styling them and said "Ugh Dad, those are so '90's!" Little does she know they're actually '70's and '80's! Oh well, more donations for the thrift stores. -

Friday was my 6 month (at 7 months? post op follow up visit. My BP was 110/57 HR was 76 Amy cholesterol 135 overall LDL 43 HDL 85 all other blood panels were in the normal range A1c was 4.1and my body fat is down to 20%! The Dr. was extatic about my results! He said that by far I am his most successful patient at the VA! My skin is healing well I have some loose skin but looks like it is still young and will probably not need to have any removed as it is not hanging and my muscle building will help for it to "go back to normal"! Another NSV is my energy level, my family and are are getting ready to move across country (for me to continue my education I was accepted to Colorado State University) and I have been loading the moving pods all weekend and have done most of the heavy-lifting myself. I am not tired or sore I worked all day both Saturday and yesterday and was like the energizer bunny, I just kept going and going. -

I have a funny NSV...I was shaving my legs and when I ran my hand over my thigh I felt something hard and thought I had some kind of mass. Upon further inspection I realized it was just muscle! I wasn't use to having hard, muscular thighs...I was use to soft flabby ones! Surgery: 6/26/13 HW 370 SW 331 CW 276
