When Will I Notice Something? When Did You, And What Was It?
barb rah replied to barb rah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everyone. It was interesting and fun to read everybody's "aha moment' story. It's funny, but a couple days ago I looked in the mirror and thought "is my face slimmer". Didn't know if it was just hopeful thinking. The next day my sister said my face looked thinner!!YES!! That'll tide me over till the next nsv. -
Good job! I am planning on staring the C25K program as soon as my doctor releases me to. Keep up the good work. I can't wait to experience this nsv!

So, lately I've been bummed and stuck on a plateau around 50lbs loss, but today during my couch to 5k I ran and enjoyed it! Never thought I would jog for almost 20 minutes and be happy about it!

Fiddleman didn't want to erase any of your great post great NSV's - walking, normal stride, no more rubbing - serious terrific new standards of life turn those things around when they were bad - so glad life is improving keep it up

Here is something I noticed the other day when out for my daily walk with my dog. When I am out walking, my gait is normal and flat on my foot. One foot lines up in front of the other and nothing's rubs except a slight touch right above the knees. This feels so much better when walking then before when my inner thighs would rub to redness. My natural gait is now a pretty quick clip and it feels fine. And yes, it feels more comfortable to cross my legs then not when sitting for a long time. The only issue with sitting a long time is my bony butt now gets a little uncomfortable.

Yay for having fun with intimacy finally! I thought that I was going to feel very insecure and uncomfortable, but I'm not. One of my favorite NSVs =)

My nsv happened 2 days ago when I could fit a shirt I had bought my daughter from Chico's last Christmas. That was exciting for me. -

Happy Belated Birthday! While I do like reading everyone's numbers and nsv's, I really appreciate it when people write about their emotions! My emotions run high and I think I will have the "fat brain, skinny body" issue as well. Congrats on living life and getting back on track! -
Frustrated! :( Feeling Really Down.. :(
barbi1281 replied to msemma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've had some of the same issues but I pay more attention to my clothes and what people are saying than the scale. I was sleeved the 16th and stalled 2 weeks out. I don't even think about it much now... I weigh myself and I'm happy when there's a loss and when there's not I just celebrate in other ways - i.e. I'm wearing a smaller size now, people have noticed my weight loss, I've already gotten off of some of my meds, and yesterday I found my collarbones. Whatever NSVs you've had and are having - celebrate them. It's not just about the numbers on the scale... it's about everything overall. If all that fails - go to the pet store and pick up a 25lb bag of dog food and just think that you were carrying that around all day every day before your sleeve - you haven't failed at anything... you've already lost a great deal of weight in one month and there's more to go. Just keep trying and know that most of us hit stalls and it's frustrating and it sucks but we'll all get there sooner or later if we don't lose sight of why we're here . Sending you big hugs  . -

When Will I Notice Something? When Did You, And What Was It?

Good question. I had a lot to lose and I recall my clothes were all elastic waists so I didn't get a hint from them.... It was about 40 lbs down when someone I hadnt seen in months asked me if I was losing weight... I think that was the first NSV. The second one was down 90 lbs and I flew for the first time being banded.... And I didn't need a seat belt extender. That was a great day. -
When Will I Notice Something? When Did You, And What Was It?
kyrasgrandma replied to barb rah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, your first nsv is that you got the band! My stomach was swollen for a few weeks. I measured the other day and found I had lost 3 inches off my waist. Same thing will probably happen to you. Be patient. You are still healing. I have lost 11 lbs since surgery I a think I am doing great -
When Will I Notice Something? When Did You, And What Was It?
barb rah posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my lap band surgery Oct 31st, 12 days ago, and am SO happy that I made the decision to have it done. However, I feel that this is probably the hardest time to go through. I wonder how long it will be until I notice something, any little thing, like a nsv. Cause I went through the surgery, am doing the liquid, puree, and soon mushies phase, but there's no reward yet, understandably. I'd love to wake up feeling a little lighter, like maybe after being sick for a few days and the tummy feels not so full. Or having my pants feel just a teeny bit looser. I've probably lost about 8-9 lbs, and am happy if that's so. (so far, I don't plan on weighing myself, will let the doctor do that) I'm just wondering; does it take long to have that first YES! moment? I know once I get there, I'll be patient with the rest of my weight loss, because I know I'll feel better as the scale is going down. So what I want to know is, did it take long to get that feeling??? -
Not Recognized By A Colleague!
ProudGrammy replied to Lissa's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Lissa great NSV - i can only imagine how happy you have felt with all your weight loss- successes btw haven't seen you around in a bit, then again, maybe you were standing sideways, too little to see now show that "little" self more often, love to hear and see more (less) of you keep those NSV's coming -
Wonderful NSV! But then you got the scale victory as well. Congrats on "onederland."

This weekend for the first time ever . I went to payless shoes and was able to put on those trendy boots that zip to the knees. God i love my sleeve.

But think back to your last diet... how much had you lost, 8 weeks out? When is the last time you lost 30 lbs in two months. I think that's PHENOMENAL! Also, check your clothes and your inches. I read somewhere (probably nowhere, maybe I made it up) but we don't lose lbs and inches at the same time. When the scale stops moving, I check my inches. Always a change. Can you wear smaller clothes? Are your baggy clothes super baggy? Fat pants looking ridiculous? Feet flopping around in your shoes? How do YOU FEEL? Breathing better? Climbing stairs with no pain? Can stand without a backache? Lots of NSV's to look for that have nothing to do with the scale. I am PRAYING for at least 30 lbs in two months... I think you're doing great. As far as hunger, I have heard the more protein you get in, the longer you stay full. Keep on keepin' on.
