    Genepro Protein?

I have been using it and I've been at goal for almost 2 years. I didn't like unjury. In fact once I found GENEPRO I threw it away it was so bad. I use Genepro in my coffee every morning. It's my CYA in case I don't get enough Protein throughout the day. But I do try to always have protein with every meal. I also add it to my old fashion oatmeal so that I am getting a balance of carbs and protein and I need the oatmeal to keep me regular I have also added it to pancake mix as sometimes I crave banana pancakes. So in order to equal out the carbs I mix in the protein and you can't even tell. Good luck on your journey. I found a lot of useful information from this site along the way. ~LA
  2. 1) your nut is an idiot by setting too high of expectations. I was down 17 pounds at 2 1/2 months and I never considered myself a slow loser. 2) drink more Water. You should shoot for 64 oz but more is better....I get closer to 100oz most days. 3)as for loriemoms nut saying shakes are artificial Protein, she, too, is an idiot. whey protein is simply the liquid portion of milk that settles to the top during the cheese making process....just like what settles out of yogurt or cottage cheese. There's nothing artificial about it. In fact, it is the number one, fastest, best absorbed form of protein available. Better than meat, eggs, tofu, fish, etc. GENEPRO, however IS artificial. It is a chemically modified molecule that started out as protein but no longer is. The company is a quack and cannot provide any amino acid profile for their product and has absolutely no science based studies supporting their claims or even show if our bodies can absorb it. Anyone with a basic understanding of biochemistry can look at their product and see it's not really protein. Good luck, you are doing great!

    Does it taste good?

Do some research on Genepro. It's quite controversial.

    Protein shakes

I have used Aldi's Elevation. A scoop of chocolate + 1 T instant coffee, YUM. the price is right...I am having some challenges with sugar so I found another GENEPRO II. Micronized medical protein. 30 g. protein, 0 sugars, 50 calories, about 1 T in volume. A little over $1.25 a serving. I wished I'd known about this product 3 years ago!!! Look around online, many sale prices. I have had good luck with EBay.
  5. I've read lots of people rave about genepro, and seems like the perfect protein supplement. but after researching the company, the genetic process they use to create the stuff and failing to find any sort of scientific evidence to support the claims, I'm just not comfortable using it as a protein source. It may be the "miracle supplement" it claims to be, but then again it may just be modern day snake oil. (Look at the other fad supplements the company offers) In the meantime I'll stick with "real" protein, even with the temperature and taste issues.
  6. Genepro is what I use. I like it in 4onces of one percent milk that's about all I can handle at a time 30 grams. Can anyone tell me for how long do we continue with 60 grams a day? please don't tell me that it is for life

The Good The Bad & The Nasty

My Nutritionist said they were great!!! So of course, I ran down to Kmart and looked for them, They were the slimest gross tasting yucky thick something that I couldn't put in my mouth again!! My nurse told me about this unflavored Protein. It was called PROTOX or something like that (it was 4 years ago) I paid $19.95 for 1, Of course, I bought 2. They were so slimy I couldn't even get 1 TBS down. I am so glad I found unflavored GENEPRO!!! It has saved my life I have it in my Espresso every day. This is a great way to find out what is good or not!!
  8. GENEPRO IS LIFE! no taste, no texture...just a good amount of protein!
  9. is this the one you are all using? Musclegen Research GENEPRO Genetic Tri-Protein Peptide Powder i'd like to get some since you are all so happy with it.
  10. @@Okiebon I wanted to let you know what my friend just texted me about her labs. She uses only GENEPRO as her suppliment. Our surgeon checked her CBC, B12, Folic Acid, Potassium, Magnesium, Serum Protein (total), Vitamin D, Calcium, Iron, HQ AIC, Lipid Panel, and PTH, and ALL of her labs came back great! I have the order for my labs and will get blood work done in December. As soon as I get the results back I will let you know. Genepro did the job. I sent the website to my NUT and surgeon's office before I started taking it and both approved it. I was concerned about it not being whey isolate since we were told that was the best protein and what we should be using. This is her email response: "Hey Carol, Whey peptide is completely appropriate. It's basically just the isolate form broken down one step further so if you like it, keep drinking it!" Hope this helps. Carol
  11. For people who use the Musclegen GENEPRO powder, what do you mix it with? juice? I get mine in the mail today and I want to be all set to start it tonight or in the morning. I am newly sleeved (2.5 weeks post op) and I have a volume issue. I am wondering if I can dissolve it in maybe like a 1/2 cup or cup of juice and not taste it. Oh, and does it have a particular smell to it? I have had a bad issue with Protein drink smells lately.
  12. Stayed home with supportive hubby who didn't get any fatty food or beer. I made a healthy veggie casserole for us as well as a hash brown casserole for him. He made himself some gammon and I just ate a few small servings of casserole throughout the day as well as sugarfree chai tea with GENEPRO and almond milk. Sucks not participating in usual traditions, but avoiding what I KNOW will be a huge temptation is the best thing for me. Hope everyone had a happy Tgiving! HELP! PROTRIN SHAKES NAUSEATE ME

I am six months out and still rely on protein shakes. I drank them before surgery, however right after my surgery they made me nauseous. After about three weeks i tolerated them again and now i love them again. Without them I would never ever meet my protein goals. I use Unjury chocolate splendor and I also use flavorless Genepro. You can add Genepro to anything and not taste it. I will probably have to rely on protein shakes the rest of my life in order to obtain the required amount of protein.

    I'm struggling with muscle loss.

Why do you think Genepro is crap. I'm shopping for a flavorless protein. I'm read reviews but still undecided. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using the BariatricPal App
  15. Thanks for your responses, everyone! Northcountyr1, I swear by GENEPRO unflavored Protein powder. It's 30 grams of protein and only 57 calories. You can put it in anything. And yes, I was walking for the first four weeks. Since being cleared to do more, I also bike and have started a C25K program (run/walk). Have also incorporated some minor strength training. 16. Hi everyone - I’m a little over 2 weeks post-VSG (5/15). Everything has been going great and I’ve already dropped 25# from my surgery weight. The problem is, I have ZERO appetite. I thought some hunger would begin to return as my body healed, but if anything, it’s declined further, because just the thought of eating anything, including sipping broth, gives me terrible waves of nausea. Yesterday, it was so bad, I dry-heaved into the toilet for 5 minutes, but nothing of course came up except water. I’m really struggling to get at least my protein in, sneaking scoops of Genepro into anything and everything, but it’s so hard because really the taste of anything except really cold, unsweetened iced pineapple black tea (yes I know, very specific 🤣) turns my stomach. So even protein water is a no go. And I cannot do protein shakes - something about the texture of that cold, thick liquid grosses me out to my bones ::shudder:: Has anyone else struggled with this? If yes, what did you do? Did it abate on its own?

Pre and post op liquid stages

unjury, Syntrax nectar and GENEPRO taste good and are 100% Protein isolate (that is most absorbable - no "junk" protein).

    Dizziness in the morning, severe

You could be dehydrated!! This is a problem with WLS, if you don't get all of your fluids in you can become dizzy etc. Have you checked to see if your blood sugar is ok? When you mentioned that orange juice helped it could very well be a low blood sugar. I had major dizzyness early on plus heart palpatations big time. When I exercised it felt horrible. When I went into my PCP he was worried that it was my heart. He ordered a Stress test, first one was physical and the second test was ultra sound with medicine to stress my heart out. It was because of dehydration. I am 4 years out and I still struggle some with getting in my water. Mostly because I am a big coffee drinker!! But...I put GENEPRO in my Espresso and it has 30grams of protein in it. A WIN WIN for me!! It has 30grams of protein. Good Luck
  19. I am starting to buy my supplements and I was curious if anyone bought their stuff exclusively through Bariatric Pal store and if they have tried GENEPRO Medical Grade Unflavored 30g Protein Powder - 2nd Generation. I am kinda overwhelmed as to what to purchase- also if any women can offer insight to the soft chews (as far as good flavor) I was going to buy the three pack- but then put it back and just stuck with berry. Any information is welcome! TIA!
  20. My Dr. has me on liquids only for one month. Blended Soups are ok. I am supplementing the Soup and ff sf pudding with GENEPRO Protein powder and Premier Protein drinks to get to 90 grams a day. I am able to drink a cup of liquefied Progress chicken noodle soup before having signs of fullness. I am averaging about 800 calories a day. I have lost 18 pounds in 3.5 weeks. I have had a stall of about 3 days. Struggling to get all my Water in and I haven't really been walking a lot as advised. I live alone on a steep street and after getting a partially numb foot after hip replacement I use a cane so walking isn't easy. I'm meeting a friend at the Y on Monday so I am looking forward to starting a new trend. I see the Dr this coming week so I will get some more input. I haven't had any vomiting or gas or pain since surgery. When I get full it comes on all at once and I make sure I stopped. I was very sick of soup so I used my nutribullet on a Thai Chicken with peanut sauce 300 calorie Lean Cuisine and it blended down to less then a cup. I was full at the 3/4 mark. Ever since the 1st week I have been able to drink more then some who say they get sick if they have more then an ounce or two. I was a little worried and posted my concern and got feedback that helped. I was told that some people heal more rapidly and the liquids can start to move through the sleeve while you are drinking. They suggested it would change when I started to eat solid foods as the stomach holds onto it longer to digest. Hoping it is okay. I've followed directions about what to eat. Just hope the portions aren't messing me up. I'll find out Wednesday. Sorry for the long response. I guess I needed to vent a little.

    April Surgery Buddy

I was originally going to do the sleeve but I was recently diagnosed with Acid Reflux so my surgeon suggested the bypass to avoid any issues with it down the road. I’m both really excited and nervous! Liquid diet consists of 100 oz. of water, protein shakes, broth, sugar free popsicles/jello, sugar free beverages and 2 cups of green non starchy veggies each day. Going to try to keep myself as busy as possible, 3 weeks of this sounds so daunting lol I haven’t really stocked up for post surgery yet because I hear your taste can change. I bought genepro flavorless protein power and chewable vitamins to be prepared. Going to try the same things for the week of liquid post op and then for purées I’ll Introduce a new food at a time to see how I do. Hoping I can do Greek yogurt, ricotta bake, tuna salad, chicken salad, cottage cheese, cream of chicken soup. So far I’m liking the premier protein shakes!
