GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
The links I have are these. It is pretty much the same as what you posted. BTW I am not a newbie I am almost 4 years out and I have had all great returns on my bloodwork. In fact I had to drop down on some of my vitamins. I guess I will have to keep a better eye on them since I am using The JUNK GENEPRO. I am sorry if I upset anyone. But here are the links I have http://musclegennet/clinicalstudies:html and https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/ncto2919657?term=genepro&ranks -
They are saying their 10g of special protein is equivalent to 30g whey. I believe this says it best about Genepro: Long story short, they are selling lies. Most likely they are selling BCAA's and calling it protein. Do yourself a favor and buy a reputable protein brand. Gold Standard is good brand. There are so many manufacturers that lie on their labels, you almost have to look them up and see how many lawsuits they have against them before you buy! If their process was true, every other maker out there would be following suit because it is such a cutthroat business. The fact that most retail chains refuse to carry it is evidence of the company's reputation. The only reason I reply (yet again) to this type of post is to protect new patients from wasting money on snakeoil. I need to bookmark my reply to this ridiculous garbage product. It comes up so often it's a PITA to search for it. The manufacturers even admit that there is really only 10 grams of protein, but it is magically fast with absorption and is the equivalent to eating 30 grams of protein. It's a whey based product. It is most definitely not 30 grams of bio-available protein. The calories are just not there either. This stuff does not contribute to satiety, meaning you will still be hungry. At best it leaves protein markers in the blood stream, more likely though your body will start to break down your own muscle tissue for the protein that it needs. It does not provide the building blocks the body needs for muscle tissue, nails and hair. So you are most likely will have issues with that. Just stay away from this crap.

GENEPRO
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Sherrie Scharbrough's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Hey guys, I don't care for the conversation here. The studies were not just them. I am not trying to sell anyone any thing. For myself I will keep using GENEPRO. I am not selling this at all. I have my email with the information. I don't know who made you judge and jury here. Have a great day -
I wanted to just say that I have been investgating GENEPRO about the protein. I went to 2 different studies and it is true. GENEPRO has 30grams of protein per serving. Which is 1 Tablespoon. If anyone is interested in the links just let me know. Have a great TUESDAY!!!

I don't think that's the same thing. This was referred by my bariatric surgeon. It is called GenePro and is sold by GNC. Look at the GNC website. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app -
My Hunger Has Returned!!
Honeybee17 replied to jessjames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor told me about a protein called GenePro yoh can get at GNC. Or had 30 grams of protein, is flavorless and you can put 1 tsp(?) Into any beverage and it will not change the taste. You could try that and get your protein in. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using BariatricPal mobile app -
I can't beleive that a company as big as GENEPRO can get away with false advertising. If you use it in whatever it doesn't have any taste. I am a coffee person and YOU DON'T want to mess up my coffee. LOL It also is made by a VETRAN which I think makes it even more appealing. I went in to read that article and I couldn't get the whole story. They wanted a proffesional Email, like a Lawyer or something. My ? is how can they get away without the FDA coming down on them? I would think that the Goverment would get involved or something. Right

You should know that 'unflavored' means no flavor masking the protein, not that it has no flavor, and do some research on Genepro, it has a bad rep on this site, though I personally have not used it.

DUH i forgot to put the name of my protein down, it is GENEPRO. You can get it online. It may seem like it cost alot but just think about it. 1TABLESPOON =30grams of protein. Now there are those that are nay sayers and GENEPRO doesn't have that much protein. But I have been using it for quite some time now and all of my bloodwork is totally AWESOME!!

A "food" that has no fat, no protein, and no carbs? What is this, the Genepro of mayo's? Honestly it does not sound like food at all. They are either liars or they are making a batch of chemicals and calling it a condiment. I don't usually get worked up about "fake foods", but even I would avoid that. My personal experience has been that plain greek yogurt is the easiest substitute for mayo. I can make a ranch dip out of it, tuna or chicken salad... heck I have replaced sour cream and mayo both with plain yogurt. That being said, if you are really craving honest to goodness mayo, I say try your hand at making your own. It's a lot easier than you think. Though once you see that it is just eggs and oil, it may not be as appealing.

Let's talk NOT meeting protein goals
lalame replied to Tessa1988's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 9/6/16. I know you don't want to hear about shakes. I stopped drinking them after surgery. They made me nauseous. I did find a recommendation on this app about 7-8 weeks post surgery that suggested genepro. I have been using it ever since. One small scoop is 30 grams of protein. Doesn't taste like anything. Don't put your nose in it. Made me nauseous to smell it in the beginning. Now i don't notice the smell. I mixed it in yogurt, soup, and now in my milk for my decaf latte just to jump start my protein intake. Good luck. -

I also use GenePro protein powder... it is tasteless and dissolves completely... just don't add it to really hot liquids. I buy mine from Amazon -
Can't drink Protein, HELP!
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to Tessa1988's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Most people love the Premuir Protein drinks. I had to do them 2 weeks before my RNY and then 4 weeks after. The problem I had was I had the "Back door trots" the whole time I used them. When I was almost done with my 4 weeks my PA said, Well you have become Lactose Intoerant!! Thank you so much. I could hardly go outside of my house!!! So sad but so true. I found a protein that I couyld tolerate afterwards, It is MYLOPLEX RICH DARK CHOCOLATE. But now I have my GENEPRO unflavored protein in my Espresso everyday!! Love it. It has 30grams of protein in 1 TABLESPOON. There are some that don't beleive it has 30grams of protein, but I haven't seen the info. -

You are probably thinking about Genepro, but I will caution it has a VERY dubious reputation. -

I am a little over a year post-op. I am very limited on what I can eat. I eat no meat at all. My diet is mostly Greek yogurt with GENEPRO 4 times a day & popcorn. I have no energy, no strength, no motivation yet all my labs are in normal range. I do struggle with getting in enough liquids. Anyone else having this experience?

Breakfast/egg alternatives
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to YeaMe's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I was going to recommend some unflavored GENEPRO, it has 30grams of protein in 1 Tablespoon. I add it to my ESPRESSO everyday. For myself I have never enjoyed breakfast (well maybe fried potatoes and eggs in my past life LOL) and I drink coffee all the time so for me it is a WIN WIN!! I noticed that you do supplement protein bars and drink thru out your day. This protein does keep me full. Just a thought. I sip on it all morning. -
Protein shake that's easy on the stomach?
soccermom2 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've tried premier protein shakes and genepro powder. I can't stand the taste premier and could even taste genepro though it's supposed to be tasteless. More than that they both made me so sick. Nausea and a burning pain in my stomach for the rest of the day after just a little bit of them. Anybody else have this issue? I'm nervous about getting enough protein in after surgery if I don't find something that's easier on my stomach. -

My doctor allowed 12oz of coffee from day one. I need that one cup, so I asked him upfront. I am four months post-op and have been drinking at least one cup since i got home from the hospital. I use the premier protein shake as my cream and some days add Genepro protein powder. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using BariatricPal mobile app

First day of pureed food
Sherrie Scharbrough replied to newbie123's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I have found the best unflavored protein powder!! It is called GENEPRO!!! Mind you I am over 3 and 1/2 years out and I have tried sooo many different bars and drinks. For premade drinks I loved Atkins. For protein bars I love Powercrunch bars. I wish I could have found GENEPRO sooner. You can mix it in anything. I use it everyday in my Espresso coffee. It has 30grams of protein in one tablespoon. For jmyself it is a WIN WIN because I would drink my coffee any way. To add it to hot stuff, I put a little warmish (not boiling) add the protein and whisk it up before adding it to your drink. You can add it to lots of food. Just remember that our bodies can only absorbe 30grams of protein at a time. Or at least that is what my Surgeon told me. Good Luck and have a great day!!
