  1. Whennnnnn can I workout???!!!!!! I’m 11 days VSG post op and I feel AMAZING!!!! I went from 275-252.4. 23 lbs down baby! I’ve pretty much been able to tolerate everything but juice that isn’t diluted. Although it’s no sugar added, I still felt some discomfort but it wasn’t too bad. My incisions look great. The only one that still hurts to the touch in that one where they actually pulled the stomach thru. That ish hurtttsssssss! But for the most part I feel wonderful! I wanna get back in the gym. My boyfriend bought me some resistance bands but I’m a person that loves the gym so this is killing me slowly 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ (not literally). I don’t go for a follow up until the end of the month [emoji30]. I’m not a treadmill girl. I literally go hard in the gym (which of course I know I can’t do) but what can I do that’s safe but will still give me that good old sweat filled fulfillment??? TMI but can I at least be intimate with my boo?? 🤭Help me! Lol help a sista out!
  2. Ok, I was reading up on life after the gastric sleeve and read something that horrified me. I would love to know how many people have this issue and for how long. I work from home but have to go to a different location to administer state tests to my students, about three weeks after I am hoping to have the sleeve done. I read several posts about sleeve patients having to wear adult diapers because they basically have no control of their loose stools, especially during the liquid phase. Is this really a common thing? Several posters wrote about waking up to diarrhea all over the bed, going while driving or just having daily accidents in their pants. Please tell me this is not “the norm”.
  3. Can I take a stool softener or laxative during pre-op diet? What about after surgery? I tried to call surgeons office to ask but didn’t get someone to answer. Help!
  4. Hi there. I was wondering what people have experienced in their monthly cycle since having surgery. I tend to be fairly regular with timing each month, and how long it lasts, but I know a big reduction in caloric intake will definitely affect everything. Did you even get your period during the first month? Just curious about what to expect...thanks!

I use premiere protein but my intestines can not take it so I have been doing whey scoop with water or almond milk and still I can’t take it! I’m nervous because I know how important it is and I can feel that I don’t had what I need for my body!! Also TMI just having diareah it’s never solid! Help? What can I do?!? Thanks!

  8. I know everyone is different...So everything is different for each person. But when polling a group of people you can get a better sense of what is "typical", even in this totally atypical post-op world I've now joined you in. So, is anyone up for sharing your approximate # of cals you take in per day (or took in post-op rather)? I know many may not count calories, espec at first, being more concerned w/fluid & protein intake. I'm just curious, bc at the end of the day, in some ways it still comes down to calories in vs. calories out, right? I'm a little discouraged, I guess. Trying not to be, but failing. I lost 10 lbs. pre-op bc I did my extended pre-op diet in stages to stave off severe side effects. I was good with that decision. Three days post-op I weighed myself at the hotel and I was down another 5 lbs already! I was totally stoked! I hadn't had any, um, movements yet, and knew I was still swollen, so I was really happy to see that # of 190 on the scale! Also, my stomach was a little sunken in around my belly button. It has been hard/round/pushed out for so long that I had almost forgotten I used to have an "innie". I was so happy that day and grateful I had done this. Now back at home, I have added a protein shake in each day, per my nutritionist. My cals per day I estimate have gone from approx 500 to approx 750. My tummy (espec naval area) is looking rounded and more firm again rather than sunken in (which had been a lovely sight). And my scale has gone up a lb or so. I have had several BM's (sorry TMI), so feel like that should have helped, if anything, but apparently not. Honestly, I am feeling pretty low and am not sure what to do about it. Taking in less calories seems ridiculous as I feel fairly hungry right now (yeah, I know, I didn't expect that either - I fill up quickly, but still have an appetite - my tastes have not changed - and there's definitely some head hunger going on as well). So, I'm not exactly "active" right now bc my tummy is still tender on the left side and near one incision, and I also still have my back and neck pain. Plan to add in more 5-10 min walks per day to help "get my steps in". Sorry, I rambled on again...Just, anyone who can share calorie experiences in the first 1-3 months, espec if you can give some perspective on what your weight and activity level were (for comparison/reference) and if you lost consistently, I would really appreciate it. Thanks

    Late December Sleevers?

Hi all, Thought I'd say hi. Sleeved on 12/18, so I'm on phase 2. I'm scared to introduce too much too quickly. So far, just tried yogurt, applesauce, and SF pudding. Finally got some unflavored protein powder, too! Anyone try it with mashed potatoes? Also, sorry if this is TMI, but I've had nothing but loose stools for the last week or so (after being constipated at first, go figure!) Other than that, I've felt good! Late December Sleevers?

Same as me. Three days out. I tried half a cup of jello and my tummy was NOT having it. Later on, I had some sugar free pudding that went down ok. Finally took a BM. (TMI, it was kinda funny. I would expect that after having nothing but liquids for a week.) Incision pain is better. Nausea is almost gone. I’ve been walking around and doing really well on my liquids and proteins.

    Late December Sleevers?

Good morning everyone. I had a rough night. I couldn't really get a comfortable sleep position. I too haven't done right by the protein shakes. The smell is like that of Similac so it turns me off. Yesterday when I went out with my son, I drove and yes while I know that wasn't the best idea I didn't really have a choice. I rubbed one of the incisions open a bit with my seat belt and that hurt like the dickens. No bandages at hand so I had to MacGuyver something so I wound up with (TMI) ...a pantyliner covering it and me holding my side like I'd been shot (truth be told I really felt like it). I've heard there are sugar free, low calorie pumps like what is used to flavor coffee which is what I am going to look for. The protein is a necessary evil so short of holding my nose while I drink it. My mission is to find something quick. Happy New Year!

    Right side pain

So I'm 1 week post-op (tmi) I had my first BM yesterday and I've noticed that my right side has been in pain every since... I'm thinking trapped gas ...I've tried walking it out but nothing seems to help soothe it other than a heating pad. Just curious if anyone has had any related experiences? Thank you Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app

    Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

hi all - great to read how everyone is doing for those with the BM issues, TMI but here goes lol - I did not have to clear everything out before my surgery..and I was doing great and feeling great - sleeved 12/7 and then 2 weeks to the day, had some pain because things were just not coming out easily...not a good day. then the following day, 12/21 was not fun either in that it was sort of the runs but painful again in a different way. Those two days were rougher than the surgery for me..since then, I've been fine but have only gone once normally since then and I'm a little nervous ...I bought some Miralax the other day and also bought some fiber gummies. Have to ask the NUT if it's okay to take those. sorry for anyone grossed out by this post lol! keep up the great work everyone! Ihit 20lbs down today!

    Buddies Group - Surgery Dec 4 to 15, 2017

Okay... TMI warning I know this has come up, but I'm two weeks out, and so far I've only had 2 BMs - both were very difficult and uncomfortable. It's now been several days, and... nothing. I've been taking Colace, but it doesn't seem to be helping. I'm still on liquids... is this normal or should I be concerned? Should I try throwing a couple prunes in the blender with my protein shake? I never had this problem pre-surgery, so I'm not sure what else to do. I'm staying active, walking, getting my water in, etc., but nothing seems to help.

Need to pass gas - just home

Congratulations! I’m day 3 post op and the best advice I can offer is to get up and walk around. It has helped with the gas and bloating. Also TMI, still waiting on a BM. Started taking Myrolax this morning. Hopefully that will get things moving.

Need to pass gas - just home

Today for me has been a great day. Woke up better , got more liquid in. Protein didn’t do will I will try a different flavor. Sort of got heart burn with chocolate. Still was really good. TMI - had a BM . A little constipated probably from all the pain meds at the hospital. Is it bad to push when you have to go. I’m concerned. Tried not to but sort of had too. Sorry for the details . December Sleevers??

I don't know what it was about day 3 but I was struggling so bad I couldn't sleep , cranky (tmi)...constipated from all the Protein Shakes. I was a wreck!!! Just know y'all are not alone and we can do this!! Today I'm on day 4 and things are looking a lot brighter. Sent from my SM-J700T using BariatricPal mobile app
  21. I’m embarrassed to ask this, but here it goes... ive stuck to my pre-op diet almost perfectly. The only times I’ve messed up are once my friend only had 2% milk so I used that for my smoothie, and I took one tiny tiny bite of grilled chicken. So, pretty darn good. But my poops are rock solid! How can this be when I’m on a liquid only diet? Is this normal? I haven’t been counting my water ounces. Maybe I’m not drinking enough water???
  22. Wow im 2 weeks in after sleeve and i didnt go for 4 days so (tmi) i just used fleet for an enema because i needed to go so bad but wouldnt come out for 4day clogged my butt lol ... 23. So I know I'm not alone in having bowel movement changes post surgery and I can't really talk about the embarrassing things that have happened because of this with other people who haven't had the surgery. So on to the TMI situation. Nearly every month right before I get my period I have a BM that clogs the toilet at work. Today it happened and I was panicking because the toilet would not flush. I had to get creative to actually fix it. If this happened once and never again, it wouldn't be a huge deal, but it is has happened, specifically at work, three or four times already. Does anyone else have embarrassing issues with BMs after they have surgery?
  24. Sleeved October 17 2017 Age: 19 SW: 297 CW: 255 GW: Healthy and happy. Any medications that are a no go for post op Gastric Sleeve patients. I tried to contact my surgeons office but they haven’t gotten back to me yet. I’ve had no previous health problems before my surgery other than depression and anxiety that I’m taking Remeron for. Specifically asking about Lasix, tmi but ladies you know when you’re bloating before that time of the month for me I retain ALOT of water up to 7-8 pounds difference in my weight no matter how hard I watch my sodium intake. Is Lasix 45mg safe to take???
  25. So I haven’t pooped in about 9 days and I have been throwing up and getting extremely dehydrated. I have tried 3 fleet enemas and there’s nothing. Should I go to the ER for help or just wait it out? I have a really bad lower stomach pain and I can feel really thirsty but can’t keep fluids down still. My doc said do an enema a day but it’s not helping...
