    Smooth Sailing for Anyone?

Oh I did have a seamless surgery, for the first 2 weeks except for having a bleed across my Fat tummy from a small skin blood vessel I was moving right along, losing back down my su4gery water weight and then more! I thought I had the bad things of Baiatrics beaten. And then suddenly I stopped and every time I attempted to eat anything expected except fluids, surgeon told me at 2 weeks I could handle stage 3 , keep moving along my diet. All the sudden I was not his " happy normal RnY camper" any more. After whining a little, okay 3 times a week, to shut my lips up they scheduled an Endoscopy, surprise surprise I was the unhappy step- mother of a stomal stricture and a bunch of ulcers in my jejunem, I knew something was WRONG, it wasn't just post-surgery swelling because that's what his Nurse Practioner kept saying. I might not have the Fancy degrees--- but Baby, I knew ME. Been living in this body a Good Many Years! And after 5 months I still haven't let go of that Tornado's Tail! But I will, maybe a couple more dialating Endoscopies, I'll be all better, the PZICC line can come out, and I will be eating like all the rest of my surgery day twins! The difference between me and them? Even when I am all better , I will not drop out, go away, because my Bari- brothers and sisters have been so supportive I will remain a Bariatric Pal person. Maybe I might not post as much, but I will still cheer on others as they did me! No regret, no sorrow, even with the Minor Bumps in My Roadway I shall be a Proud RnY, grateful for my remaking, even at 73 I am still living better, healthier than I could prior. My PCP has to now admit I saved me from Death by a few years, I was getting That Bad, of course he wants to take credit for suggesting it to ME, nope I brought up the subject in 2015, when he and I were certain I would never make it to 2020 alive, at the very least I would be in a LTF, also known as a nursing home, because my body would be so broken down. Now I am thinner, not as much as I desired, the TPN has slowed down my weight plummet to 3 pounds a month, but I now grow healthier each and every day, that may not be a spectacular NSV to everyone else, but even outsiders say "You're so looking so much better," must have been as ugly as a pile of mud before, I smile And say Thank You, only my peers on here know my stuggles to get, this far, if they ask I MIGHT tell them about the surgery, otherwise they canbthink,i came to my senses and did it all MYSELF, good for my formerly battered Ego and sense of pride. I'm doing much better as a Happier Smaller Widow than I did. a mentally abused. despondent wife, big as the side of a barn, afraid to step outside without protection, cause I thought every other person loathed looking at me. Now I am emotionally strong enough to stand up on my own, if I make mistakes they are mine to make, don't have to live in someone's shadow apologizing for even existing. Mine is somewhat a difficult story, but be True to Yourself, in the long run, that's the Only Boss you'll need, as the Late Ricky Nelson wrote " If you can't please Everyone, better please Yourself!" Frustr8 out, have yourself a dyn-o-mite day.😛👍
  4. First, let me say that this week I got my first, "I didn't recognize you!" from a coworker I hadn't seen since before the surgery. (I could tell something was weird because she was acting oddly shady toward me during the first part of the meeting, and then suddenly became normal several minutes later. Must have been when she put 2 and 2 together.) Anyway, on to the terrifying and hilarious NSV. So I'm walking rapidly down this long, empty hall at work and focused on the door all the way at the other end. I'm trying to take a quick bathroom break and I don't have a lot of time. I kinda glanced down to check my path ahead of me (since I'd previously been focused on the door and not watching where I was walking) and as I glanced down I suddenly saw something scurry around my feet. We've been known to have the occasional mouse in the building and I live in the midwest where it has been bitterly cold, which can push critters inside. Naturally, I freak out and do a little jig and start looking around, but I see nothing. I'm not sticking around to meet a mouse if I don't have to, so I start power walking to the door/end of the hallway and I see it scurry by my feet AGAIN! Suddenly, before the panic set in, a realization set in and I test my theory by walking slowly at first, then faster. Yep. It's my own feet. I can now see my own feet when I walk because my stomach has shrunk in size. No mice. Just my own damn feet. 🤣
  5. All kinds of NSVs over here! Loose glasses, loose rings, my work badge hangs lower, my shoes are looser. So many!

    NSV

Walking into a store, not digging to the rear of the rack or looking to see where the Plus sizes are hidden. Buying something because I like the style or color, not just because all they have that WILL FIT. And not having to stand to one side so people can get through. Wearing shorter skierts and even shorts in public and having people not suck in their breath as I walk or saunter by, the Dr are some of my Dream NSVs.

    A few NSVs

And now that January 2019 is about to end, have YOU had an NSV yourself?
  11. And still the over-all quality of your life has gotten better and that is an NSV in itself!

    NSV shout outs

Well congratulations to Peaches for selecting you, congratulations on your weight loss, you know, Bariatric Pal is one of the few places you can say " You are less the woman that you used to be" and it will be regarded as a compliment, not a put-down. What a wonderful 6 months YOU have had, and keep moving on toward your goals, and keep updating us as each NSV occurs.

    NSV shout outs

6 months post sleeve and some awesome NSVs ~ Started at a size 28/4X, just the other day I bought a pair of 18 pants on clearance ($5) and just for fun I tried them on.....and they FIT!!!!! ~I noticed that there is space between my toes...... ~ I can sit in a booth at restaurants ~ I can keep up with my preschool class, 12 boys, and 4 girls......busy, busy, busy ~ I can walk without getting winded or my back hurting. ~ I realized that this year I will be able to shop for a bathing suit at a regular store, and not have to buy one at Lane Bryant or online!! ~ My wedding rings that I hadn't worn for 4 years, I put on in August (1 month out) now they are in danger of falling off, so I will have to find a safe place ~ I promised that when I lost 100 lbs, I would get a cat! Her name is Peaches and I got her at a rescue a couple weeks ago.

    A few NSVs

@Neri Congratulations on your progress. NSVs are proof it's not all about the number on the scale! Yesterday, while talking to a friend of many years, she said "you are starting to look like the you I remember and I know you'll get back to where you were mean't to be." I've known her for 40 yrs and she has seen me yo-yo diet for the last 20 yrs so I know she mean't this as a sincere compliment . Definitely a NSV for me.
  18. I noticed a few NSVs last night/this morning, and I'm just so happy I had to share. So, here they are. 1) I had to tighten the strap on the mask for my CPAP 2) I've noticed that I've started taking better care of myself and have generally been feeling happier 3 (and my favorite)) Today as I was leaving for work, my husband hugs me and said, "You've lost so much weight, I can hug you more completely". Guys. He can finally get his arms the whole way around me. I have been smiling about this all day.

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Okay, a lot of catch-up today. 12. How I eat now? Measuring everything--even at work with my portable food scale. 13. Lazy weekend, did a little shopping including these very appropriate PJs for my daughter. 14. Biggest NSV thus far was fitting into the Dragon Coaster at Rye playland back in August 15. Transformation Tuesday---one on the right was June 2017, I don't know how much I weighed---maybe 320. I hit 330 very soon after and not wanting to get back to my all time high of 377 is when I decided on pursuing my gastric sleeve. 16. Halfway progress---here it is onederland. Lordy, did that take a long time! Also started therapy on Monday, so hopefully onto a better place soon. 17. Today I am being a bit spartan since I was home sick yesterday and took it as an excuse to eat excessively and not make good choices. And there isn't heavenly god juice in that coffee mug---just an isopure protein shake.

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

I'm a little behind, forgive me! 14. Biggest NSV So Far - there are so many, but I think being able to go to my hour-long exercise classes and stay through the entire class without stopping halfway through and going home has been huge for me. 15. #TransformationTuesday photo below! 16. January Goals halfway: I've been walking every day on my lunch breaks and drinking at least 50 oz of water a day. I have gone over my calories twice but other than that, I've stayed on track. My only issue is that as I've started doing strength training again, I've gotten hungrier. 17. Today's meals in photos - will post pics later, I didn't meal prep today!

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Hi! Bear with me while I catch up over the last couple of days... My biggest NSV so far is something I just realized the other day and it's eating in public again. I didn't realize how much I was avoiding socializing because I was uncomfortable in restaurants. Meeting someone was always stressful. Besides the self esteem issues, there were always so many barriers. Will this chair hold my weight? Will I fit in this booth? Are people watching me eat? I'd always catch someone looking at me with a disgusted look so I focused on never making eye contact with anyone. Not great for quality of life. Sometime within the last month, I started eating in restaurants again on my own. I choose a new place to try, scope out the menu ahead of time for something healthy and then thoroughly enjoy a small fraction of it while staring at my phone like a normal person! Yay!

    Pre-Op Journey

Two NSVs in one day! 1. I can stand in the doorways of our mobile home (they’re narrower than normal doors) without touching the frame on either side! 2. I can cross my legs without picking one up and pulling it onto the other!

    ❤ JANUARY 2019 CHALLENGE ❤

Day 14 - Biggest Non scale victory this far? Running again. I use to run 5Ks hike multiple times a week, and snowboard and kayak. So to be able to go run, and kayak makes my heart happy and the surgery so worth it! The fact that I'm looking forward to kayaking in Hawaii in March, and spelunking, that I signed up for 5 5ks/fun runs for the summer without fear. Those are the best NSV I could ask for!
