I had Gastric Sleeve 6/10 and did very well for the first six months. Down 62 pounds. I also have Rhuematoid Arthritis and was put on some medications with weight gain as side effects. Now I am 1 yr post op and I'm only down 45 pounds from my starting weight. Very depressed and feel like my stomach has stretched. I can eat way more that I should be able too. I have altered some of my meds and hoping that will help, but I feel hungry and crave things I never did! Help!!! What do I do if I am stretched, and how can I get back on track???

Must haves gizmos and gadgets?
minle360 replied to erica2185's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Recliner. I had the RNY GB and although it was laproscopic, they cut the stomach muscle. OMG was that a shock the first time I tried to get out of bed. I finally got it down in the hospital with the automatic bed. When I got home, I got into my bed, fell asleep and woke up in agony because I rolled over and strained the stomach muscle. I finally got myself out of the bed (pushed through the agonizing pain) and slept on my couch sitting up feet up on the ottoman) for two days until the recliner came. I should have gotten the electronic kind and not manual (my sister ordered it for me. I knew I shouldn't have listened to her - lol) but even with the manual (It is a pain in the butt to push the foot rest part down but it didn't really hurt) I was a lot more comfortable. i couldn't sleep in my bed for nearly 3 or 4 weeks post-op. (I learned about the recliner 10 years ago when I had a breast reduction. Many on a support site I found recommended it.) don't know what I'll do with this thing when life goes back to normal but for now, I'm grateful to have it. -
I'm 56. I lost over 120lbs. Then this Genius surgeon screwed up said my band was blown. I gained weight, got laid off, went back to him, and was thrown out. It took 3 years, and I found another surgeon, and guess what, There is nothing wrong with the band ! He deflated it,and said it e\was blown. So I am starting all over again, and you can look at my turtle and see what I lost. It's not much, but it's a start I know that if we all hang in there, no matter how difficult your journey is. We all have a different story. Even though it's the same Band. I was banded 10/31/2006, and I have a long way to go all over again. So don't throw in the towel. Shirley.

I have a few questions. I was an original sleeve patient in November of 2011. I had a severe stricture that was finally corrected with a bypass in August of 2012. I had lost 110 pounds. Scale finally kinda quit moving but ok with that I guess. I was at an ideal weight and had lost all "my girls"! LOL. My sweet husband agreed and paid for me to have a breast augumentation Thursday of last week. The scale gained almost 10 pounds. I know those silicone implants did not weigh 10 pounds. Help! What happened? I haven't felt real well or ate a whole lot since that surgery Thursday. Any idea where that weight came from ? How to get rid of it? I can't exercise for a week or so. Anyone else experienced this ? Help I'm struggling.

Port-- is this normal?
Phx_Jazz replied to Scoobie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My hubby and I had surgery one day apart back in 2008 and I remember him saying the same thing about his port tingling. It went away about 10 days post surgery. It wouldn't hurt to call the Dr. though - just in case. The pain started to go away about 10 days post-op as well. Hang in there. -
Swim suits
QueenOfTheTamazons replied to QueenOfTheTamazons's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ordered this from swimsuitsforall because their sale was ending and I couldnt find another company that made similar. I want something to cover my thighs because of chub rub and because my thighs are losing weight first and getting even saggier. Not sexy. Hopefully I can find better options in the future. Did your shoe size get smaller ?
jensjoy28 replied to NoOrganicForMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This will be so interesting for me to see...I was telling my Dad the other day how many people experience their feet shrinking after weight loss and he said "well, it is probably because being overweight causes your arches to fall, and once the weight is gone, the arch returns to its "natural" state"...which was a buzzkill for me since I have had flat feet my entire life...so not sure I will be trading in my size 10s (which I've been since I was about 10 years old) for a smaller size... -
Schedule for sleeve Feb 18th w/ Dr. Almanaza, anyone else????
SarahRN replied to SarahRN's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Haha...where in the world did I get Penny? Clearly I am losing my mind!!!! It probably won't be much of a vacation, but didn't plan on it being one either. My son is 10 months old, this will be the first time I leave him, period, since he was born. I am so glad to have met Teresa and you before going, just makes things a little easier I think. -
Hello, My weight on Nov 14, 2016 (the day of surgery) was 306. I am currently at 209 pounds and it's been 10 months since my sleeve surgery. Last month I lost almost 15 pounds. I am 5'7" and 46 years old. My doctor says he expects me to reach 160 pounds at around the 2 year mark. So I sould continue to lose weight even though the rate at which I lose it will slow. I am thrilled with the weight loss and if I didn't lose anymore, I would actually be okay with that.

From my personal experience: Background: Female; 5'11; start weight @ 349 Banded on 5/19/10 Current weight: 204 1st off I'm a food addict (recovering). I'm talking about constantly thinking about binge eating and always hungry. The band pretty much took away the physical hunger which encouraged my addiction. It doesn't "cure" head hunger or our behaviors, but it allows us to modify them considerably. I'm not hungry until it's been 5 hours since my previous meal and then my stomach will start to growl or sometimes I get edgy from being hungry (don't recommend waiting that long between meals). I usually plan 3 small, protien packed meals a day in which I each in 4 hour intervals. I've had some days where I try to eat more than my band allows because I'm still working on negative behaviors, but that's like maybe 1% of the time. The other 99% I follow my band rules and I feel awesome! I'm not hungry and my addiction isn't active. The band saved my life and has given me the opportunity to live as the real me! I wold do it again a million times over! I've read other posts where some people really struggle with their band. I'm not saying this has been easy, but by the grace of God, I've been successful and can't imagine it not continuing to work for me. Good luck and God Bless! Rebecca

Hi Elizabeth! Welcome to LBT! First I just want to say well done with the first 10 lbs! It is still a lose. Dont be to hard on yourself. If you have been exercising, you could have lost inches and gained muscle. So it is not that you havnt lost weight. Try messuring yourself as well... It may be just that. Also, I visit Scotland about every 18 months or so. Love it there. Please keep us posted with your progress, or if you ever just need support! Take Care! -

I am taking 4 wks in total but only bc my job is very physical. I am 10 days post op and if I had a desk job I could be back at work. I will say though that while I feel ok, I am glad to be home and on my own schedule to get the eating, timing, drinking, and exercise routine down pat. -
You are not a slow loser you are doing great. I truly am a slow loser it took me 6 months to lose 28 Kg I am still within normal range according to my doctor but slower than a lot of people here on the forum. I am 10 Kg away from normal BMI. I wanted to add my starting bmi was 39.9 and it is now 28.

Well last week I went from exercising 3 days a week to 5 days a week. I actually tried a stairstepper today and was able to do 10 minutes on manual without breaking a sweat! In just 5 weeks I have moved from a 4 pound hand weight to an 8 pound handweight. I lost 5 pounds last month and then regained it when I put on muscle and then lost it again with the help of those muscles! I have finally lost a new pound - down to 171. However, in just 4 weeks of exercising for about 30 minutes a day I have lost a whole clothing size and I feel muscle for the first time. I am up to 100 situps without stopping. Feels really good. Last week I walked after dinner and I will do it again tonight. I am hoping by the end of October walk every night so that I get exercise in twice a day. The scale is moving slowly but the body is definitely changing. How are you doing???

Nervous about procedure
starr1202 replied to dravin77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make a list pros and cons and really think about the benefits of the surgery and If u have any health problems that surgery will benefit you. I also backed out of surgery a year prior to my surgery. I had never had surgery and was scared to death about it an now even though I had gotten a leak and 1 surgery turned into 4 I highly regret that I didn't have my surgery sooner. It was the best decision I made. 10 months post op and down 92 pounds. Good luck -
How Long Was Your Process?
MzPecanBrown replied to Flyingsaucer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had REALLY easy insurance. If you meet the BMI requirements, you're good! No months of supervised weight loss program or anything of that sort. My process went like this: October 12 - Initial and NUT Visit October 27 - EKG, Echo, Barium Swallow November 2 - Psych Visit I had to get clearances from 2 specialists that I see which I did within the month of November. December 9 - Received call with surgery date! January 4 - Pre Op Consult with Surgeon January 6 - Pre Op Class and IVC filter placed (I had this due to a previous clot) January 10 - SURGERY! -
