I was a size 26/28 before surgery on 10/31/12 today i had to go buy 2 pairs of jeans and 20's fit perfectly not to tight but not loose and thank god i got 2 pairs because my old ones were huge in the but & legs. I am down 30 lbs started at 286. But it was nice to get into smaller jeans so fast... Down 6 pants sizes omg.....

Yesterday I packed up my shorts for the year, and put them into storage. I get a sleeve date on Monday, but its so nice to know that I won't fit on those shorts next year, and that I will be buying all new shorts instead. I'll give those to some of my larger friends. Let me tell you, it felt great to know next season those shorts won't be a part of me.
  3. So last week (week of Thanksgiving) was a crazy week because I went home to Arkansas to spend time with family... First off it was super fun...My daugther is having my first glam-baby and I got a chance to see my glam-baby on the ultrasound. We also had the baby shower the Saturday following Thanksgiving and it was fab as well..Okay I could go on and on about that because I am so happy but that is for another blog.. Well it was the first time any of my family had seen me since surgery and only my mom and daughter knew I had surgery...For the most part everyone had good things to say...My aunt and cousin jokingly called me a "crackhead" or a "cancer patient" as they said I was so small...They aint seen small yet...I got more pounds to lose before hitting my goal...As many of us VSG folk probably was, I was nervous about how I would be around so much food...good southern homemade food....Not to mention all the eateries that are my "have" to go to list when I am home...Admittedly, I did eat more carbs and sweets overall than I have eaten on any day since surgery. However, it was in such small quantity that I did not beat myself up about it. Instead, I just was more conscious about my calorie burn. I do not recall if I mentioned previously but I renewed my subscription to the bodybugg again. I am amazed of how much more efficient my body has become on a reduced calorie diet and less weight. Before the surgery and without any exercise I would burn 2500 calories a day doing just normal activity. Now, I am at 2000 calories a day...While in Arkansas I made sure to hit 2500 mark so I could burn off the extra calories I took on by indulging in cake and dips. In the end I only lost 0.8lbs te week of Thanksgiving. It is actually more than I had on my projected weight loss chart. I said I would lose nothing so I count it as a victory. Things have bounced back this week and I lost 2lbs. I am happy with that but I would like to get my weekly loss up to about 3lbs a week. I am going to get back on my workout regime as I fell all the way off these past 3 weeks. If I am to be running ( I mean running...now walking) a half marathon on June 1st, I need to be in the full swing of daily running like yesterday... And for the not so good...I have had some awesome victories since having my sleeve...My best NSV when I was in Arkansas is I wore my daughter size Large Monkey Suit (Onesie). I have wanted one of those for about two years but could not find one big enough...Well now I can wear a Junior Large...I also bought a Junior Large pair of Yoga pants from Kohls during after Thanskgiving sale...Another big moment...I wish I would have taken a pic with them on because even I must say I think I looked "skinny"..a relative term indeed but it was a skinny moment for me...And the oh girl you are gorgeous...girl you fine comments are coming...oh how I love my sleeve...I guess the best part is not the comments themselves but I actually feel pretty again... But oh back to the bad...My hair has started coming out in chunks...It is so thin...I am wearing hair make-up every day to color in my sides and I have to wear full and half wigs as my hair is so thin in the front. I have been wanting to cut it short anyway but I wanted to do that on my own time...Now entire otherwise healthy strings are hair is just all over the bathroom floor and sink with the slightest comb or brushing...I keep telling myself my doctor has said there are no bald weight loss patients...It will come back and I guess the good thing is when it comes back all the relaxer will be off and I can go naturally curly and short as I wanted to do anyways... I have an Ormin body fat monitor and previous to surgery it said my body fat (bf) was very high about 40.8%..I notice a couple of weeks ago, it now simply says high and now I am 34% bf. That and with some inspiration from my sleeve buddy I decided my next big goal was to get to a healthy bf and bmi. For my height that is 164lbs for a healthy BMI...Hopefully, with the workouts the bf comes on down as well...In the meantime, my interim goal is to be 175lb by Christmas...Gotta put in work to make it happen. I am posting some swim suit progress shots against my better judgement given this is the internet..but I want to give an honest reflection of me...Its hard to hide the flab in a two piece... Beware the photos are horrible but they are becoming less horrible as the months pass. Excuse the blur in the photo and that the distance the photos were taken were not exactly the same but I still think they reflect the 45lb weight loss... Until next week all.... HW 232 & SW 227 (VSG 08/17/12 & 5'8) LW 188.8 Week 14 Weight - 188.2 CW 186.2 [Total Weight Loss 43.2lbs] GW 155 [31.2lbs until Goal]

    Who Are You?

I am 38. I have been married to my best friend for 13 years, have 3 daughters (11,9,6) and live on a small ranch in rural Texas. I am a teacher, writer, and love to read. I have a brother that's 18 months younger than me that has both Down's Syndrome and Autism, and we are very close - he is in my home daily. I live near my parents (my brother lives with them) and have pet fish, a snake, a rat, 3 dogs, 3 cats, chickens and cattle. I have always seen myself as "athletic" - and the outside of me is starting to catch up to the mental image I have! I love camping, hiking, and anything with water. I have been to the Bahamas twice - and can't wait to go back! I love the beach and the Frio River. I love to fish - fresh or salt water. I love to cook - especially the game my husband brings home. I would love to completely live of the land.... I am loud, opinionated, and extremely loyal. I have always viewed myself as more than my weight - and even after just 5 moths post surgery, do not define myself by that number on the scale. I LOVE the NSVs associated with my healtheir self though....and have a bucket list of sorts I am checking off.... Next Saturday - I am back on a horse....
  5. I had an nsv today. Down to a size 12 . I also saw myself in the fitting room for the first time and yikes! My thighs and even the backs of my knees are hanging! Im 9 weeks out. I hope this skin snaps up some in the future. For those of you who are further out did you notice the skin this quick?
  6. So happy for you!! That's awesome!!!! I am teetering on that and beginning to get excited. I bought a couple XL shirts at NY&Co on black Friday. I was buying them for "the future" when they fit. To my amazement they fit already!! Now I just need to get this waste down a bit more so I can get in smaller pants. Congrats to you!!! Great NSV!!!
  7. That's great! I can't wait until I have this NSV

  9. Great NSV Time! I won't have to buy clothes for awhile. I have all sizes in my own closet.lol I did go to Lane Bryant's the other day to get one new bra, yes lose in the boobs first, I always get my bras there. Surprise, surprise my fave bra no longer comes in sizes under 40. I had to walk out from LB b/c couldn't find one small enough. I walked out smiling! Keep up the great job you're doing GF! So proud of you!

After 10 months of battling every lb and working my butt off. My Mom finally said now it really does look like you've lost weight. At least she's honest. Plus my size 12 jeans fit me way to big. I think size12 is fine but it won't hurt my feelings to have single digit size jeans.

    Best Decision I Ever Made!

i was sleeved 9/12/12 like mgsmith. i have lost 19lbs prior to surgery and 35lbs post surgery total of 54lbs. my NSV is my work uniform was way to big for me, my daughter gave me some cute jeans that at first i couldnt fit now i rock them. my feet are much smaller which means i can wear my smaller shoes. my face is way thin and younger looking i love it, and ppl tell me how good i look almost everyday. i get down because i see ppl that had surgery around the same time as me and they have lost way more. but my nut said i am on target, they expect 30lbs lost in 3 months i did that in 2 months. i dont eat bad at all i eat all good healthy foods ive had maybe 1.5 cookie at work since surgery. i dont crave sweets anymore and when i do eat them it taste like sugar to me. i get all my protien through food my carbs are under 100grams a day, my only problem is i cant get enough calories in thats the hard part. the down side is i go through periods of naseau for days and then i feel better after a few days. i can only eat 2 -3 bites of dense foods. soft foods i can get in with no problem (exp) cottege cheese yogarts, cheese chili. but whole meats like chicken i get really full. some days i feel like im not going to lose all of the wieght but i guess thats a normal feeling, trying not to feel like im on a diet. trying to just be normal.

JDI, ouch! wow I can see why running would hurt. I had a knee injury many years ago and running always aggravate it unless I where very tight compression pants. I think I may need to look into a dedicated brace for that knee. Running is good exercise but it's not making the scale move but I'm sticking with it cause it make me feel good.. the scale isn't as important as that. NSV - although I can't do it outside yet..However, last night on the treadmill I actually Jogged 3.13 with no walking!! time: 38:14, pace: 12'10". I felt amazing! best I've ever done! Now if I could just find a official 5k treadmill Race I'd be ready!! but I did go ahead and registered for my next outdoor 5k Color Me Rad race on March 30th...My birthday! I hope your DD is feeling much better! and your mojo will return!! Everyone have a good weekend.

Something happened yesterday that made me so happy. I take a class in Roller Derby, all the skating, none of the impact. Some girls wear cute derby outfits (shirts, shorts/skirt, socks. I bought some cute knee socks at the beginning of the class, but my calf's were too big for them. Not anymore! They are still tight, but they go all the way up. I was soo happy.

Just being able to enter and ride for 2 days is a major NSV. Don't play that down. Sorry about your accident, but confident you will get them next year! Congratulations on your weight loss.

For 20 years I have dreamed of being fit and healthy enough to participate in the Great Victorian Bike Ride, an eight day ride of almost 600km in my home state of Victoria. This year, 18 months after getting my lapband and losing 63kg, my husband and I set off from Lakes Entrance on our first ever Great Vic. First two days of riding were fantastic. The whole event was living up to my expectations with the riding, the camaraderie, camping and spending time with my husband. Day three dawned bright and sunny and we were on the road nice and early out of Briagalong. Morning tea stop in our former town of Maffra and then two and a half km down the road, disaster struck! I crashed out big time over the handlebars and onto the road. I was in agony, convinced that I had broken my leg! An hour later I was in an ambulance, six hours later I was finally released from the ER with a puncture wound and severe haematoma to my upper right thigh, along with a collection of bruises, scrapes etc that have developed quite colorfully over the days since. Yesterday, still on the camp for the ride, I decided to give it another go but wasn't even able to pedal. The physiotherapist then confirmed that i would not be able to complete the ride. I was devastated that I have not completed my dream or my NSV but am going to support my husband right through to the end on Sunday. And next year, I WILL complete my NSV and finish the Great Vic!
