    Kaiser Richmond Pre-op

Hello all Sisters of Surgery! (SOS) Glad to see you all like the picture, it is a pretty good one, just to think how much WE have lost 321+ lbs...and sisterships/friendships we have gained! I still can't wait to meet Reggie, and Candra, also InsideOut (great name)! Our group is growing, but WE are the biggest losers yet winners! Pam, so sorry you are not feeling well today, pls take good care of yourself, with so much going around out there! Which is a good warning to the pre-oppers, stay well, and take care of yourself well BEFORE surgery, so no x-cels do to illness! Riley woman, we must set a date as a group to meet the real woman before we can't even see YOU! LOL! Candra, glad to see you are moving along so well, take your time in learning the food meals, try not to indulge as much, due to not wanting to make liver unhealthy before surgery, the pre-op is to help get it ready...also, not to scare anyone, but some patients HAVE gone in for surgery and found no band was implanted due to liver was to large. You will be able to eat most things after surgery, AFTER losing the weight, but that is WHY I chose this surgery, to truly have a tool to help me learn the proper ways of taking care of my body, with exercise, eating well, and yet enjoy life in moderation! I too have sleep apnea, and have already gone down in pressure amount in machine! Also, I just can't BELIEVE the energy AND stamina I have already, just from the weight lost and look forward to more NSVs! Sure I will take a nap now and then, but learning to listen to the soft signs of our body helps me to bring the balance! ANY questions you have we are glad to help, this wonderful group of RICHmond ladies are incredible! By the way...yes u lose some hair, but it will grow back, and there are vitamins, shampoos and others things to help! Candi woman! Thank JT for not leaving us in the lurch, what a wonderful support he is...and now we wanna hear from U, wonderful pretty momma!

    New 60+ Thread

Refresh my memory: when was your surgery? And how long ago was your fill? Is it too soon or another? My surgery was late July. I had my first fill in early September....well, maybe about the 10th. Then I had a 2nd the beginning of October and a 3rd the end of October. Then I had fairly good restriction. We went south for the winter so I didn't have another for six months. That was April. Good restriction now, but I want another "tweak", so I'm going in next week. Sounds like you need to be a little tighter. This is so much easier when restriction is right. So sorry to hear about your son's home. That's so sad. Did they have flood insurance?? We are making our RV site permanent when we get back in the fall... well, we're taking it on a yearly rental rather than monthly. I guess that's not exactly "permanent", but we want to stay longer next winter and anything more than four months, you may as well go yearly. WA state folks from our RV park in CA had a reunion/picnic yesterday, so I faced a few temptations myself! I had a tiny sliver of cheese cake, a small spoonful of potato salad, among other things I shouldn't have eaten! Good to hear from you. One pound a week is okay! I strive for 5# a month. If I can do that consistently, I'm on track. If not, time for a fill!! That's GREAT NEWS!! Isn't that a wonderful accomplishment! Terrific NSV!! Since surgery almost a year ago, I am down to one cholesterol Rx instead of two and my doctor just cut strength on one of my two BP meds in half. I'm pretty pleased with that, too. Keep in touch, everyone!! We need the support and encouragement we get from one another! Us OLD CHICKS & GUYS have to stick together!

    February 2007 bandsters!

Thanks for the feed back. I find if I eat slower and talk more then I eat less. That's pretty hard for me being the introvert, but I find if I eat with someone at lunch instead of at my desk, I slow down a lot more and tend to sort of play and pick at my food instead of eating, so net I eat the smaller amount. First fill is scheduled for April 4th, then I go back every two weeks until mid May while my Dr. is trying to get the band to the right place. I have the larger band and he said it takes a little more adjusting to get the restriction to the right place where he wants it. On a completly different note I had a NSV already that almost had me doing cartwheels this morning. I know it sounds lame but big to me. I was acutally able to buy clothes at Wal-mart and they fit. It was the largest size they carry, 3X mens, but none the less it fits. It has bugged me for years to not be able to buy what I call yard clothes or play clothes like tee shirst and stuff from discount stores like Wallyworld and such. Just seems so unfair I have to go to a speciality store to buy a tee-shirt to mow the yard in. So anyway, it was a huge victory for me this morning!
  4. all of these posts are excellent NSVs!
  5. Medium tops...all around and size 8 jeans? I believe, I believe. Thanks for starting this thread, my family gets bored of me sharing all my NSVs...LOL!!!
  6. yesterday, i finished my first 1/2 marathon in just under 4 hours. this time last year could not have made it round the block! congrats to everyone on your NSVs.
  7. On day seven of pre-op diet....had NSV this morning: able to button jeans for first time in a year!!! Woo hoo! So excited for my surgery on April 19th!

    February 2019 weight loss buds

I have an interesting NSV, as pointed out by my husband... I was going 90 in a 75 (I don't normally do this, but the scenery was amazing and I got distracted!) and the State Trooper let me off with a warning!

I have a NSV to share, too [emoji4] Hubby took the week off last week and we went to Rainbow's End (as close as you can get to a themepark here in NZ.) Last time we went would have been about 2 years ago. The rides were hard for me, I had constant anxiety about my weight and I didn't do any of the extreme ones. Back then, we decided to try the fear fall just before we went home. Yeah... I was so big I couldn't fit in the seat [emoji22] It was super-embarrassing having the ride guy trying to squish the harness down on my too-fat body. Well this time, I not only fit, but my anxiety was under control and I managed to zoom around the park and do all the big rides with hubby... some more than once! Pic of the fear fall for reference [emoji28] Now I just got to find the time and money for that spa day and seeing the otters! [emoji16] Hehe! Sent from my CPH1719 using BariatricPal mobile app

    Slow Losers - Unite!

No Kathy, no slow loser for you, but I'll spot you the "stuck loser!" (((((hugs)))) Okay, you've been on a plateau for a few weeks. Really a frustrating place to be. So you've had a couple of sodas lately. So you've had some medicinal chocolate. SO WHAT! We love you anyway. Gotta get moving though. If you are at the bars, get dancing! Shake that bootie, all night long baby. As for the sodas, there is some research that diet soda contributes to obesity. I drink the occasional soda, and I do mean occasional, like maybe a bottle a month. But I only drink sodas that are sweetened with cane sugar, and don't have any high fructose corn syrup, which in my mind, is the only truely evil food. The sodas are more expensive than your typical can of coke, but it's a rare treat for me. I think everyone has those fluctuating restrictive days, and they are sure frustrating. I know that for me it is helping me understand my Cushing's, that the days I'm really restricted are the days my cortisol levels are high. (I'm such a science experiment!) I don't know how to help you ride them out, but if yyou are *too* restricted too often, I'd schedule a small unfill. So you haven't been excersizing. Get moving woman! get out side and play with those kids, make up a huge 5 gal bucket of bubbles and play with the kids. Get a giant rope and play jump rope with the neighborhood kids. Get some rollerskates, go dancing, do some yard work. Move, move, move! You don't have to "excersize" to get moving. Maybe you just need to change how you are moving. Call your local parks and rec department and see if there are any belly dancing classes in your area! I know how hard it is to be motivated when you don't *see* any movement on the scales. Are you tracking other things? I haven't seen you start your "Tattooed TX Mommy's Amazing NSV List." Please go and talk a good look at your NSVs. Perhaps you are compacting, and losing inches. We see this over and over where people will hit a plateau while their body catches up to all the rapid weight loss. Be kind to yourself. Never give up, never surrender!

    Slow Losers - Unite!

NSV stands for Non Scale Victory. (When something happens that isn't related to the scale, that tells you you've lost weight) I am a really slow loser too. It's maddening. It would seem that as little as I am eating now, the weight should be falling off, but it's not. Exercise makes a huge difference, but some days I just can't force myself to go.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Hi, gang. I read posts, but don't post much myself. But I wanted to share a NSV! My hubby and I just returned from a week long vacation to Colorado. We flew and I was anxious to see if I could fit in the seat and seat belt. Some of you may have experienced the embarrassment of the seat belt not fastening and having to summon the flight attendant and ask for an extender. I hated to fly for that reason, plus I would always have to lift the arm rest so that I could spread out into the seat of the passenger next to me. Well, my NSV is that I didn't have to lift the arm rest and was able to buckle the seat belt and even pull it in an inch or so. Also, the tray table came down without resting at an angle on my stomach. My hubby is large too, so we never sit next to each other, we gamble on having a smaller person next to us. So I had to jump up and go tell him about my NSV and of course explain what a non-scale victory means. He was happy for me. I had lost 58 pounds when we left for vacation and only gained a half pound or so which is good for not being able to eat at regular times and always having to eat out! :tt1:

    Non Scale Victories

Big NSV I've gone from barely fitting a 3x to fitting into a 1x. It's like a whole clothing world is opening up. I shop at stores like Burlington and Ross and I feel like the plus size selection is sparse for 2X and up. It's also kind of bittersweet. I'm getting off all of this weight that I've gained since having 2 kids and I'm learning that my body composition is.... Different. The biggest part of my body has always been my butt and thighs. My stomach is now the largest area. I'm still thrilled with the changes! Just learning to dress a new body type! Sent from my SM-G960U using BariatricPal mobile app

    Non Scale Victories

yesterdays NSV - I was able to buy a few items of clothes at a physical Old Navy store because I didn't need plus size . Today, I realized I needed to go and exchange a couple sweaters because they're too large! So I was able to buy XL sweaters! (even though I know ON runs large, still excited).

    June 2007 Bandsters

Well I got back to my fill clinic today, and once again they made hamburger out of my stomach--couldn't access the port. She got me in at the hospital in less than 10 minutes, and an MD came in and got me under fluoro. It was very cool to see a needle sticking in my port on the monitor for the first time. Didn't see my band. It took some time---guess the port is deep and I'm "fleshy" ::::gasp:::: but finally he got in and took out 1cc. I tell you I have never been so grateful in my life! I spent last night with soup broth coming up through my nose at 3am waking me up out of a sound sleep---soup I had eaten at 11pm. Water, fuhgedaboudit...I pb'd it. After the fill came out, I finally could swallow and feel the water trickle down. I went to eat and had a small turkey dinner. As long as I could eat very slow, tiny bites, and chew, I could get it down with no pain. It was amazing. I learned something, I believe this to be true, the pouch doesn't hold the food for 2-3 hours as I've read, the reduced stoma size only slows the food down. This may be true in my case, some say their pouch is full. My skull, neck, shoulders, temples, gut, ribs, intestines...you name it...are completely wracked out. I feel like I got run over by a truck. I felt sorry for myself but I'm getting over it. LOL I finally peed about 7:00 pm and it was dark orange. Sorry for the gorey details, but I know some of you will appreciate it. I must be the kind of person that has to whacked up the side of the head to finally get it. Big duh moment. I wanted lockdown, I got it....never again. My 3 new resolutions....I had some time today on the road to think about this, and I had my friend with me so I said this outloud. Paying pennance. LOL #1 get on my eliptical trainer every morning, no excuses #2 no more night time eating/testing...after dinner, nothing but herb tea #3 no more buying candy...I won't even go into the aisle My weight drop in the last few days...got into the 30's yay...is due to dehydration and not eating for 4 day, but someone said you never post gains, right, so I'm keeping it. Oh, I haven't been this weight in 18 years. I got my first real comment today.....that I was starting to look good. Not just losing. Looking GOOD. I got out a tub of summer clothes that I forgot about and all but about 3 tanks and 2 shirts (stretchy) are too big. That's my NSV. Another one I have is it's so much easier to turn over in bed. I love that! WTG Safari! You can do it. Think of me blurry eyed on my ET every morning....I'm with ya! Amy, kudos to you on your personal choice. One thing you can almost guarantee yourself is if you follow the rules, you won't put the 44# back on. Big, I'm so sorry about your aunt. Everyone else, keep going for it!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

Leslie, that sounds so fun! DH and I took the youth group from church there a couple of months ago and played laser tag. It was sooooo fun. Wonderful NSV! Bet it felt great!! Oh, I have a good one too. I officially weigh less than DH! I am thrilled because I have weighed more than him for almost ten years. Granted, he is a lot taller than me, but still....I WEIGH LESS!!! HAHAHA I can say that to ya'll, lol. I would never rub it in his face like that though. It's just nice to be able to share this kinda stuff with ya'll.

    Funny NSV

Ok heres my NSV.....the other day my son says my friend can put his legs behind his head......and I said I used to do that too.....and he said do it.......soooo I tried it and I CAN DO IT AGAIN......lol........my daughter and son got a big kick out of it!.....then my husband comes home and they go running up to him to tell him about it.......he says yeah right, let me see you do it.....so I did and he got a silly smile and said WOW! ......Who would have thought at 38 I could do this!

    June Chat

Good Morning Chica Bonita's and Ira.. I have been very very busy here at work and at Home but have taken the time to lurk. First of all {{{HUGS}}} and well wishes to Betty and her Family. My Prayers and thoughts are with you... Darcy ~ Whew what a relief for you that you did not have a vet visit. My Tequila has Epilepsy. He does not have alot of episodes but when he does I wrap him up in a towel and give him drops of milk. Believe or not ~ got that from my husbands side of the family. To tell you the truth I do not know if it is the milk or me sitting there rubbing his head calming him down till it passes that works? That is also scary on the med mix up. God forbid had you taken it.. I just picked up my prescriptions on Tuesday and they over charged me. And no matter what I said they said nope that is the price you pay. I called my Ins and talked to them then called the pharmacy and lo and behold they did overcharge me. Betty / Cindy ~ There is always next year...At least the Mav's made the finals. I always tell the to my Brothers about the Bronco's and then I duck. Cindy ~ Sounds like you had a good outcome at your appt. Hopefully one day they can get those nasty Migrains under control. Sherry ~ That girl needs to be reprimanded if not fired that is just plain Lazy. I have to reconicle every month and though I do it with Qty, if I am even off 10 I am looking for it. I need to know for my sake that it is a rounding issue and not a me thing. Working in AP at one point that would have been a big NO NO. What a great NSV with your License!! Beanie ~ So fun to be in the Big Apple and meet the other chica's.. I envy you but not the working part.. Mummm Italian food my favorite.. So did you have a Hang over??? Don't envy that part either. Pat ~ that grandbaby is so cute ~ just want to kiss those sweet cheeks.. I love your pool it looks so inviting. Seems those boys are just relaxing. Great NSV on the shorts. Eileenie ~ How is work today with no Boss? Mine is not here as of yet. I love the picture ~ you are beautiful and so is your DD. Patty ~ Have you heard anything else? Hope everything is getting better your way. Donna ~ What a handsome young man you have there. God Bless Him and all that serve our Country. Dianne ~ How did it go on your last night for Choir??? I cannot even hold a note or worse yet I cannot even clap to a beat. I am the one who is always clapping out of turn. Waiting to see those Pics.. Where is Kat??? Is she on a break??? Sending warm thoughts that everything is going good for her and her hubby. Sorry if I missed anyone ~ going off memory here at that is not a sure thing. Not much happening in my neck of the woods. EX has agreed to sign off on the house so we did not have to go to mediation and it looks like we will not have another court appearance. My Lawyer is going to send the paperwork and Ex has agreed to all the terms now he just needs to sign and we are done. Whew finally ~ actually he has been acting like a different man ~ could it be his new girlfreind?? Good for him is all I can say ~ keeps him distracted and out of my hair. Kids are great and we all go to the Childrens Rodeo tomorrow. No they are not in anything we are all spectators. Then the Rides start at 4pm and we will be back for that. And of course the Concert. Cannot wait ~ so excited. Well chica's better get back to work or best start. Been here way to long.. OK ~ I just came from the Picture thread.. Those that posted your after or now Pics need to update your aviators. You are all Beautiful and your then aviator does not do you justice..
  24. Clothes. What a total and complete change of feels about them for me as well. I hated clothes shopping in the past. Hated buying crap from Casual Male or any other big & tall store.....or bigger & taller. Now....it's so much easier. Any store has my pants or shirts in stock.....whether it's a clothing store, a sporting goods store or even Walmart. The new sizes are much, much cheaper than before, too. Levis, Dockers, Izod, Polo brands but at cheaper prices than I was paying at the no-brand b&t stores. I actually enjoyed the last shopping trip I went on. This may have been the first time in history that I can say this. Unforeseen NSV. You look great !!! It's gotta feel good to wear fitted clothes again and rock 'em like you are. Well done. Nooooooooooooo not the butt.........
