  2. So I'm 5 days post op and I cheated :/ I ate 2 croutons around 7. I let it dissolve in my mouth and then chewed it up well. My stomach didn't feel bad initially. After about 10 mins I felt a bit uncomfortable and started burping. That passed after no more than half an hour. Now 41/2 hours later, I'm experiencing stabbing pains in a couple of my incision sites. Has anyone experienced this??? Am I going to be ok...have I ruptured something??? I'm freaking out.
  3. My surgery was for 10:30 but they said I could have apple juice in the morning. My surgery did not end up happening until like 3:00. There was an issue in the surgery before mine.

  5. The Other Sonix Garcinia parts contain in one case of the supplements are 25mg Calcium, 25mg of Potassium and 10 mg of chromium. The Manufacturer guarantees that the item is viable, which it is most certainly not. Clients had Sonix Garcinia Reviews answered with the bunches of negative input and surveys. It is said that the item is not working and regardless if the supplement is working, It has taken over five months to lose 1 pound of weight. Buyers have likewise said it has symptoms as they feel an impression of tingling subsequent to taking the item. Thusly, it is recommended not to purchase the item and it is set apart as a trick. http://www.guidemehealth.com/sonix-garcinia-reviews/

    Weight Gain

has anybody gained after slippage correction surgery? How many fills until you started to loose. I am almost 4 years out since my original band surgery. I have 10 to 15 lbs to loose. I can eat 2 cups of food at a setting, dieting and exercising isn't cutting it to loose. Any advice? I also notice I am hungry all the time. Have been drinking lots of water. Running 4x week for thirty minutes, trying to stay around 1200 calories per day. Any advice would be great. Hope all of you are doing well with your bands. Dody 220/152 today/goal 135-140

    Jealous

Hi Solla: Be patient, and remember 1-2 pounds is what to expect with banding. Sure some people will lose more than this and some will lose less, but this is truly the average and it is a good healthy weight loss. We all need to remember that we did not get this heavy over night. And the weight will not come off like that either. I was told prior to my surgery by my surgeon that if I wanted immediate results that bypass would give that to me where Lap Band would be a slow but steady process. Your skin has time to recover with slow and steady. Therefore allowing it to not be so saggy. Just stick to the program and eating only healthy choices and excersie regularly and you will be a huge success I am certain of it. For me it is the long term that is my goal and I set mini goals for myself. Like hitting the next 10 marker. I am 4 pouns away from my second goal after surgery the 30# marker. Then it is not so overwhelming. When I look at it that way it makes the final goal more real for me. Remember you are retraining years and years of overeating and of making the wrong food choices and this takes time not only to achieve but also for our bodies to catch up. We are retraining our metabolisms as well. Your body will get the message and know it is not starving. I would recommend using something like FITDAY.com to log all of what goes into your mouth each and everyday. This will help you to eat between 1000 and 1200 calories a day which is what my nutritionist said the goal should be. I have trouble getting that much but I am losing very nicely I feel. Always eat your Protein first at every meal as well. YOU CAN DO THIS and YOU WILL succeed! Hugz,

    Weight Gain

I was banded on March 7. I lost 28 pounds right after surgery, but I had complications. Alot of it came back as soon as I was on full liquids. I am only 11 pounds down now, am trying very hard to follow the rules, but I'm only 11 pounds down. I have had 1 fill and am due for another on 5/19. I'm really bummed. I am eating less than half of what I used to and am not losing. Excersize is difficult due to my severe arthritis, but I try my stationary bike as much as I can. When will I start to see some loss? I'm wondering if I'm gonna be a failure.

    Booo!

I too have lost and gained (like many of us - I'm sure). I also was afraid it wouldn't "work" for me! But I'm happy to report that it is working great! Don't be discourage if it takes a while to get started. I lost 17 lbs before surgery (11/09) and then managed to gain 7 of it back before my first fill (about 8 weeks after surgery). I've had 3 fills total and I'm around 7 cc of a 10 cc band and I'm now down 55 lbs. I also beleive I've hit that sweet spot that everyone talks about. I can pretty much eat whatever I want, just in very, very small amounts. I work very hard to get my daily Protein in first! My doctor told me from the very beginning that his goal was for me to be able to eat whatever I thought tasted good and lose weight and then eat whatever tasted good to maintain my weight. And so far it's working. So hang in there and get excited! It works!

    Traveling

So last night I planned a vacation to NYC on June 19-21. I had surgery the 10th of May. Obviously, never being to New York before (I'm from Miami) I know there are lots of foods to try and plan on using one of those 2 days as a "treat myself" day. What do you think around that time I'll be able to eat? That will put me, if I do the math correct (although I failed it in highschool lol) about 5 weeks post op. I just need some help pre planning Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How much are you eating?

Wow 48 lbs. That is great. I was sleeved may 6 im getting in about 550 calories but that includes my 2 protein shakes a day. My coworkers who have had it done say im not eating enough but I don't feel like I can do more at this time. Im getting really discouraged I am only down 19 lbs since surgery I don't see how I can eat that little and not lose.My nutritionist is on vacation so not sure how much I should be eating at this point.

    decent weight loss?

I didn't see it right away either. I had my surgery in December and I did a week pre op lost 9.8#, a week post op lost 9.2, so a total of 19#. A few days after I came back someone said to me I look like I lost weight. It felt weird. That person had no idea I had surgery (I mean any surgery). I didn't see it. Weird thing is when I started at my current job 1.5 years prior to that I weighed about, 285 or so, when I started my pre op diet I weighed 247 and no one had said anything previous about any weight loss. Maybe it's where you lose it idk. But 30# is a great accomplishment, be proud!

  14. Hi. My name is Jeremiah. I have always struggled with my weight just like everyone here. When I started my sleeve journey, I weighed in at 491. With the south beach diet that my surgeon insisted I go on, I was able to lose 73 pounds prior to surgery. I had surgery on 3/12/14 and weighed 418 lbs. At my one will follow up appointment I had lost 16 pounds in the right days after surgery. Got on the scale today and lost another seven pounds. Brings my total weight to 96 lbs so far since the end of November. I also got below 400 lbs for the first time in 10-11 years. But what I enjoy most are the little things I'm noticing like being able to pull my socks ask the way up and not bunching them around my ankles. Being able to wear a tie and wear it properly. Feeling the way my clothes are fitting. I am so looking forward to this summer when me and my kids can go on a bike ride. I have never been able to do that. Please consider the little things and celebrate them. Remember them when your day is not going as planned. I look forward to getting to know and support some of you as we go through this journey together.

gained weight since my initial consult

I gained about 10 pounds after my initial consult, too.I was very embarrassed about it. Especially when the doctor mentioned it to me. I tried to laugh it off by saying that I had spent a week at Disney and all the good food must have gotten me, but I still felt ashamed. I have BCBS and they did not require a 6 month diet, just documented weights and a listing of the different weight loss programs you tried. I had it lucky, I did not have the insurance and approval problems that others have encountered. I am very thankful for that!
  16. I was banded on 3/1/2011 and know exactly what you are going through. I hope my answers to your questions will help put you at ease because everything you are experiencing is perfectly normal. 1. You feel pain here because that is where the attached the access port below your skin so they can make adjustments to the band by filling or removing Fluid throught his port. The majority of the pain here will be gone 1 week after surgery if you take the hydrocodone as perscribed (every 4-6hrs). You will have soreness if you do heavy lifting for about a month however it is not bad. 2. Growling is perfectly normal. The pain you are feeling is mainly gas. When they do the surgery they have to inflate your abdominal cavity with air so they have room to manuever. The stomach will absorb the gas and pass it through your system. It takes a couple days and the pain can be uncomfortable. One thing I found very helpful is walking. Walk around for about 15-20 minutes and you will actually feel the girgling make its way out. Pushing it out is hard and painful but walking will help drastically. 3. The reason you feel good on the reclining couch is because the port is attached to your abdominal muscle on the left side. When you recline your body is not completely stretched so you do not feel pain. When you lay down on your back in bed and are flat it stretches your abdominal muscles resulting in pain. One thing I found that helps is sleeping in bed with a big pillow behind me so I am almost sitting up, your reclining couch is perfect. I would however stand up as straight as you can and walk so that you do not heal hunched over. 4. Recup time is about 1 week and you will be 90% healed. The other 10% takes about a month. I was back to work in 2 weeks and was fine, however everyone is different and your doctor will probably see you 2 weeks after surgery and let you know your progress. The main thing is taking the pain meds and resting. 5. Everyone is different and will advance at different rates. I felt ok but went throught the outlined intake process the doctor assigned to me. I found the first week I could barely eat anything. I never felt hungry and I got lots of gas no matter what I ate. The body will heal and the gas will go away. The only advice I have for you is stay strong, you can do this. It should be much better within a week. Remember gas gets better with walking. You should be back to eating all food within 4-5weeks. 6. The doctor/nutrionsit should have outlined a diet plan for you and progression timeline. I would check with them to make sure you are on schedule. 7. I did not have heatburn meds. 8. I am not sure what you are feeling. I would try drinking very slowing and never through a straw. Never drink more than a sip at a time. Its hard to get used to but you can do it. Within a month itll be second nature to you. Even if the weather is horrible, its crap here as well. Walk around the house, even if its slow. You will feel so much better. Do not over do it. Slow walking for 15 minutes and you will feel tha gas subside. Hope I helped even a little. Good luck to you.
  17. I haven't been this weight in over 5 years. However, I still cannot wear the jeans that I was wearing 10 lbs heavier than this. What gives? I wasn't more muscley then. I have lost almost 50 pounds and only one clothing size. AAARGH! I feel like there isn't much of a difference in the way I look. I know, how I feel is most important, but that hasn't been different either, as I never really felt bad Healthwise before the band. Is it skin? What? I am so sick of being a plus size! I'm still a 20!
  18. Ok, so here is the deal. I have been way off track for far too long. I just need some encouragement. I am finding it really hard to not eat everything in sight at night when I get home from work. I get up at 2:30 am and get home at 4:30 pm most nights. Through the day I can refrain from overeating. I hold myself to around 500 cal or so. But when I get home It is a whole different story. It has been 18 mo since last fill. I made another apointment on Aug. 10. I went pre surgery 323 pounds down to 212. I am guessing myself at around 250 or so. I am very ashamed to even go to the doc. Well anyway, thanks for letting me vent.
  19. This sounds like gas pain to me. It's typically not as bad as what you're describing, but I have heard of it being this bad. Is she taking gas-x or something similar to help move the gas? Was she on a liquid diet prior to surgery? That would explain the lack of BM's. I went for about 10 days with nothing, and then I had the worst case of diarreaha - liquids in, liquids out. Also, is your girlfriend taking the Tramadol in pill form or is she crushing it first? She's not eating yet is she? That could also cause lots of pain because she should be on liquids only at this stage. Use a heating pad on the shoulder and tummy and walk as much as possible. If she doesn't have some relief after the gas-x and heating pad and walking, then you really do need to see the doctor. Preferably the doc that did the surgery, because he's going to know more about it than and ER doc. Let us know how she's doing. You'll both be in our prayers. Barbara

    Great Cookbook

I have a cookbook from my mother-in-law that is awesome! It is called "Lean and Luscious." The edition I have is from 1987, but I know they have updated it and you can find it on Amazon.com. I have dog-eared about 50 of the 400 recipes that I have either tried or am going to try. Since we focus a lot on Protein, sometimes we don't get in our veggies and the like. Here is a sample recipe that I made the other night that was really, really good: Baked Squash - Southern Style 2 10 oz. pkgs. frozen yellow summer squash 1 TBS minced onion flakes 2 TBS + 2 tsp reduced calorie margarine (Smart Balance) 2 egg whites Sweetener equiv. to 1 1/2 tsp sugar 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp pepper 3 TBS dry bread crumbs Preheat oven to 350. Cook squash according to directions, drain and place in a bowl and mash well. Add onion flakes, 2 TBS of the margarine, egg whites, sweetener, salt, pepper and 1/2 the crumbs. Mix well. Pour into 1 qt. baking dish that has been sprayed well and sprinkle with remaining crumbs. Dot with remaining margarine. Bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes, or until set and lightly browned. 90 calories, 4g protein, 4g fat, 10g carbs (based on 4 servings)

will I get the surgery or not?

Im guessing that if they already made your date they are pretty sure the insurance will say yes. Remember they deal with the same insurances daily and know exactly what makes them say yes. I was in the same situation as you. My date was 10/22 and i didnt find out til 5 days before. When the insurance said yes the office even moved up my surgery a day (which actualy worked better) and just a little advice i told my boyfriend not to take off the surgery day just to come after work and to take off the next day. That was a really smart move because i needed him the first day home and turned out i needed him the second too! Goodluck!!!!!
  22. I am 5 days post op and having a really hard time. I'm having what feels like extreme heartburn usually happens about 10 seconds after I drink but sometimes happens when I move suddenly (like get up or bend down). Called the doctor Friday he put me on Levsin for spasms and Nexium for acid reflux (which I never chronically had before maybe 4x a year tops). And when I wake up first thing in the morning the nausea is so bad I gag like I'm going to throw up. I take nausea medicine and it goes away within 15-20 min. I'm wondering, did anyone else have all of this? How long did it take to go away? I can't imagine living like this the rest of my life. Please help!

    Now I'm panicing

I try to "eat" at least 10-20 grams of Protein each meal... and then drink one or two protein drinks to reach my goal of 100 grams per day. Personally, I do not like the "milky" type Protein shakes... I have always been more of a gatorade type girl. I tried a lot of protein drinks before I had my surgery so I would know what I liked and didn't like. You can buy samples of protein drinks at Vitalady.com - Protein supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks!. I think she has a few hundred different types. I paid $1.50 for each sample (which was one serving... 34.5g of protein). The "Nectar" lemonade flavor is really good She also sells this really cool battery operated mixing/drinking cup. I bought one... just to try... then went back and bought FOUR more! I absolutely L-O-V-E "CytoSport" Protein drinks (the tangerine tastes just like Sunny-D). This brand also has the highest amount of potassium that I have found. 40g of protein per bottle, zero carbs, 160 calories (I think). You can buy them at the VitaminShoppe, GNC, etc. The "ProteinSLAMs" are also pretty good. I like the peach flavored one. Sometimes they seem a bit too syrupy though and I have to dilute them. I also make popsicles out of these protein drinks for when I am feeling "snacky". I have discovered that diluting them with a little with Water before pouring them into the popsicle molds prevents them from melting too fast.

    Woot...no Sleep Apnea!

I am taking my home test back today. I have already had the pulse ox and had to do this one. I hope I don't have it. I have my date Oct 19, and my pre-op on Tuesday. This could hold me up a bit if I need a mask.
