  1. I'm doing well too. My weight loss has started to slow a bit but I got a Bodybugg for my birthday last week and I think it will help me figure out how to change things up to get things moving better. I've also started doing ZUMBA 3-4 times a week and am starting to become addicted to exercise! I also had a crazy NSV tonight... DH and I went shopping to buy me a yoga mat for a class I am starting tomorrow and he went over and brought me 2 50 lb weights and told me to pick them up...I couldn't do it...the thought that I carried that much extra weight on my body at my heaviest was unbelievable!! No wonder I had so many aches and pains back then!

    January Bandsters???

I'm doing my daily check in and I would like to talk about my latest NSV. My DH and I was sitting on the couch, snuggling up, and he had his hand resting on my leg and he squeezed my thighs - he said, what is the hard thing? So felt it, and I got kinda freaked out, then felt my other one, then I stood up and I realized it was MUSCLE! My muscle is breaking thru the FAT! THEN - I was checking my back side out in the mirror, I noticed my cellulite has shrunk even more, I have about 1/2 of what I used to have. My 3rd NSV is I just bought a pair of 12 plaid shorts 2 weeks ago, they are soooo soooo cute, I love them. HOWEVER, they are getting too big already! I am moving down to a size 10! The weird thing about it is, I have not lost a freaken pound since June 12th, thats THREE weeks ago! But I'm shrinking! I love my band! And, I love the BFL workouts!
  3. yesterday, i finished my first 1/2 marathon in just under 4 hours. this time last year could not have made it round the block! congrats to everyone on your NSVs.
  4. Yes we all are about due. You are doing a good job. I have lost 104 lbs also, I have 40 more to go. But the scale is moving very slow. I think I need a fill. The last time I went in Sept. for my year check up. He told me to wait another 3 months, they didn't want to overfill me then I am running back to have it taken out. I feel some days I am struggling not to overeat. But all in all it is going very good. Keep up the good work and I love NSV's everyday I have a new one.

Hi everyone, Memorial Day weekend coming up got me thinking about last year at this time. I was dreading putting on a bathing suit, dreading trying to fit into rides at our local amusement park, dreading going to the beach on vacation, etc, etc, etc. Fast forward to this year: looking forward(mostly to wearing a bathing suit, super excited to take the kids to the amusement park, beyond excited for our beach vacation, etc. etc etc. I am looking forward to wearing shirts with no sleeves! That is a huge NSV for me. I was always so HOT in the summer because of all the clothes I felt I needed to wear. I would always look enviously at the women in sundresses, sleeveless tanks and other cute stuff. Finally get to wear it myself this year! What are you looking forward to this summer?

Hi there! My bandiversary was Saturday. I have my physical with my primary doc today and also my 1 year check up with my surgeon. I can't wait to see what my bloodwork shows as far as my numbers go, see what's up with that. Sarasota- as Nicole said, start walking as soon as you can! No lifting above 10 lbs for awhile, but definitely walk. Sue- congrats on your size 12's! I wish I were in them. I still can be, just have to get back on track! BUT- a small NSV- I had been wearing some Just My Size shorts I had bought before my surgery, and they are really big on me, I just tighten the drawstring. But I was cold yesterday, and I went into a dresser drawer I hadn't ventured into in years and pulled out a pair of knit pants- not tight like leggings, but knit- if you know what I mean. Anyways, they were size xl, normal xl not womens, and they fit just fine, not tight, looked okay! So that was good. I just need to freaking stop with the ice cream! We were having bad weather here, and so I justified it. So dumb. Speaking of bad weather in NC, where is NJ2NC? Did you survive the ice??? And where are our others- Otaknam, etc????? Everyone have a great day! MEREDITH!! I fell off the bandwagon hard, with my nemesis, ice cream. I mean hard. And I did it again this past weekend. I had done well for a couple weeks, then birthday cake in the office meant all my good stuff went out the window. Sigh. But it's a process, it's not like it's easy, even with the band. You will get back your mojo, let's get it back together, as I need it!! Nicole- all your suggestions are very good! My DH is absolutely against counseling of any type. Like, absolutely. So that's why I post here a lot! Y'all may not be "counselors" but you sure help me! I love your trainer post, the YMCA I go to offers it for free for 6 weeks, and I really should take advantage of that. Amica, you speak the truth- I TOTALLY know when I'm eating emotionally, it's the stopping I seem to have a problem with, LOL. My surgeon didn't require any counseling, beyond the prerequisite for insurance.

Nicole! That is an AWESOME list of NSVs! I also no longer need acid reflux meds or my CPAP machine! I "tried on" a skirt I wore six months ago, this morning...and was able to pull the waist of it about 8 inches from left side. WOW! I tried to get a picture with my laptop cam but I couldn't do it. I'll get hubby to snap one when he's awake. LOL. I also didn't gain anything during TTOTM this time! Yay!! Meredith & Lady B: Keep us posted on what's going on. I'm going to ask my doc if some meds will cause the band to tighten as well. I noticed that during my TOTM this time, on the days I took generic Midol, I seemed to have more of a problem getting food down. He told me it would be tighter anyway because of the fluid retention in the body, but on the days I didn't take the med, I didn't have any issues. weird. Meredith...have fun at the reunion. Work it Girl! I agree with what has been said about still seeing the "old me" in the mirror. I think part of it is because I don't have clothes that fit properly. I mean, they are wearable, but not all of them really, truly fit. Part of it is that I still have work to do toning lots of areas of my body. So, I've started trying to only look in the "big" mirror when I'm fully clothed. I also try to focus on areas where, to me, the loss is really noticeable...like my waist, neck and chest. That really does help me start to visualize a skinnier me. However, its still hard to wrap my mind around the possibility of being in a single digit size. I mean...I haven't been since I was like, 15. LOL! God bless of each you today. Look to Him for your strength in every moment. Love & Hugs,

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Hi everyone! I want to share a wonderful NSV that I had today. I wore my size 14 cami and large size long black skirt to my friend's pool party. It looked good! it did not require modification to put on or zip (it zips on side, fitted through abdomen)! I'm so excited! I tried it on a month ago and couldn't pull it over my breasts! Now, I just got a new outfit without spending a dime! I swear, going to my closet is like going to the mall where I already own it. I got my size medium BDU pants buttoned, but they are still too tight to wear - have major muffin top issues and no room to tuck in shirt. And they definitely did not pass the squat test. :-( but give it a few more weeks, and it will! :-) share some nsvs!

    I need some help

I agree with plain. The one day at a time is a very important concept. I too have gone through extended period where I did not lose weight. I have grown to live with the fact that this is an extended process. Even when I am not losing weight there is a NSV that pops up and keeps me going. My most recent NSV is getting into size 36 pants for the first time in 25 years.

    July 2011 Bandsters!

Sharing a NSV: I have worked for the same man for 22 years. He is a 82 year old fittness buff who is in great shape .....but doesn't eat real food at all. Always tells me I have to lose weight and go on a diet. He is very wealthy & crude but not a happy person at all. I did not and would never tell him about the lapband. So Friday he says to me "have you lost some weight....your face looks prettier". When I told him I did he said "if you lose 30 lbs I'll give you a bonus". I just grinned and bit my tongue. Hope I can do this.....CAT

Hi Gals, Long time, no talk. I had a crazy week here with relatives visiting for a few days, then two picnics yesterday and dinner and a show last night. Saw Diana Krall nearby in Ocean Grove. The perfect end to a long, fun week. Sounds like all of us in bandster world for most of us going into our six month bandiversary are continuing to see positive results. Ups and downs, stucks, PB's, NSV's, wieght fluctuations {hopefully Water more then fat} and scale numbers' going lower and lower. Amica, congratulations on your Old Navy buys. It's a wonderful feeling we can all relate to and love to hear that other's are experiencing it. Chrissy, you are someone to be reckoned with. 70lbs! You're melting away! Despite all the food around me this week, I have to say, I have been good. Not by choice, but by band. I've been fighting going back to the dr's to get an unfill. I'm only at 3cc's and I seem to get stuck more then not. I chew, I don't drink fluids, I take my time but I still have a problem a few times a week. My food of choice is mainly SanteFe Rice and Beans Lean Cuisine and some turkey chili, and tuna fish, which are safe foods, my hair is falling out, and I'm seeing major acne on my forehead when I didn't even have it as a teen! My DH thinks the acne is also due to lack of nutrients. Who knows but it's not pleasant. I just started back having my Protein drinks for Breakfast {yesterday} and think I should continue since I don't eat my breakfast until lunch time. This coming week is pretty quiet and I need to focus on eating, journaling in MFP and working out, getting back on track. My 16 yr old step daughter is visiting us from SC. She asked me if I would bring she and her girlfriend to the Cake Boss' {TLC} store in Hoboken, NJ next Sunday to buy cannoli's and other Italian pastries. Ugh! That will be an accident waiting to happen!! LOL Everyone have a good day. Stay cool, be cool and just laugh at what ever life brings today.

Here's an NSV LI'ers can appreciate --> I went to the Water park Splish Splash, out in Riverhead. I wore a bathing suit in public and had no worries on a few slides that had weight restrictions  It was a good day

    I look like a slob!

I was wearing a pair of hand-me-down jeans, yesterday. they were very loose, and I was tired of pulling them up. We were at Sears, Christmas shopping. I said how about if I pick up a pair of jeans? he said, "You know, I was happy to have to buy you new clothes, but you are getting clothes crazy, now" What a great thing to do, because I am now wearing size 8 Lee jeans! I am down from 22w since Oct.30,2009. I am now. officially smaller than when I had my son 36 years ago.Congratulations to us all, with our NSV!!!

126dee...welcome. Wow...I am so far behind on catching up with everyone's posts...so I'll just say "Great job Everyone!" Even if the scale isn't moving,we can still find things to celebrate. For instance, all my rings are spinning around my ring finger. I'm having to wear some on my middle & index fingers. I put on a size 20 skirt this morning...and honestly...I think I could wear an 18 right now! So my point is...whether the "metal monster" is moving or not, look for those NSV's to keep you going....and come back here for honesty and encouragement. We're all in this together!

BOUGHT PANTS AT OLD NAVY!!! BOUGHT PANTS AT OLD NAVY!!! I'm a little excited by this particular NSV, can you tell???
  16. These NSV's just keep coming ! ! ! I put on a pair of sweats that I had washed, and put away in the Dresser. They are a XL in size. I put them on today, and they were falling off ! ! ! I was going to the Gym, so I said NO ! It can't be.... I need them for today until I come back and do the Laundry. Then I thought WHAT ! What are you thinking "YES!" That means you now fit in a Large in sweats, My husband looked at me and said wow! you are shrinking ! He saw how they just hung on me, so did the top. So I said I'll pick some up somewhere, but at this rate, I'm not buying all new, These are about 6 weeks old, and they were a snug fit. Not Anymore! So now I'll be trying a LARGE. That's a size I haven't been into since I was in my Teens. I had a unfill, so I thought I don't want to gain weight. I guess I was wrong.. You look in the Mirror, and you just see you ! I had no idea at all that I dropped a size in sweats . This band is Great ! If you have patience, and don't worry about the scale so much. Just work out and watch your cloths sizes shrink... This works ! That's how it works for me.... Shirley.
  17. Medium tops...all around and size 8 jeans? I believe, I believe. Thanks for starting this thread, my family gets bored of me sharing all my NSVs...LOL!!!

Halloween Hording! Well last year and probably all previous Halloweens I would buy the candy in bulk and "hide it" from everyone in the house so there would be some for the trick or treaters. LOL yah right! Since "I" knew where it was I would probably eat about half of the stash. Also since I work at a school, but not as a teacher I would float from class party to class party collecting yummy goodies. Well this year it has made it half way to Halloween and I haven't even thought about buying candy. NSV!! I was at the store today and noticed I was in the seasonal isle and didn't even think about grabbing a bag! I also have a very busy day scheduled for the 31st to avoid classrooms & staff rooms. If I start to feel worried I might just call in sick!! I will not gorge myself this year!!!!! So being in the season what are your Halloween should not and will dos??

Kymie, loved your most recent post. Great NSV and good reminders to us all. Well-said. JDI, I so very much hear your frustration, but you are going in the right direction for sure and you can do it. Half a pound after a big 5 pound loss is really, really good when you think about it realistically. BTW my bandiversary was Jan 18. I thought it would be a big day for me, but was so busy I forgot! Sue, how very cool for the plastics opportunity and even more for being pain free. Nicole, it's your year for sure. Newbies, welcome to you ... And may we suggest that start reading this thread from page 1... It's got to be chockful of info over this past year. Lol. Hard to believe we are now experienced!! :-) OK now for a drumroll please...... I weigh 169 this morning!!!! I know that is only a 1 pound loss (in 2 months no less).... But you all know how I wanted to get past 170, and I did! I did! I did! Oh my looking at this post seems kind of silly, but there are a couple of you out there (NJ are you out there) that get what this one pound means to me. A whole, whole lot.. Have a beautiful weekend everyone. :-)

Hi Amica- some awesome NSV's!! And a 5 k, that's awesome! Maybe I should sign up for one, that will be some motivation. Nicole- I know you're looking out for my best interest. You know the old joke, how many psychologists does it take to change a light bulb? One, but the light bulb really has to WANT to change. Right now I want a pause. Not a stop, but an evaluation period. I'm not happy with where I am now, but happy with the progress I've made. I appreciate your comments and know them to be true at the core and I will deal with it, I promise. Just have to get back in the right direction. Where is everyone else? Post! I'm struggling, let me hear everyone else's struggles/victories!!! Nicki

    Lower BMI Bandsters!

Audree, I'm here, I lurk daily just don't post I think i'm in a "funk" because I keep seeing people who have only been banded for a month or two and are down 40-50 lbs and I feel so defeated! NSV for me recently though....I went on a week's vacation Cruise (which means food and ice cream galore) and didn't gain an ounce! I have a few "stuck" episodes in front of the stepkids who don't know i'm banded, but just told them I ate too big of a bite and didn't chew well enough and they are too self absorbed (they are teenagers) so didn't question it. This week i'm going to focus on exercise, getting more water and protein and see if it makes the scale move...I also have an appointment for my 3rd fill on Friday so hopefully that will get some things moving. In the meantime I keep lurking and getting motivation off of these great victories from everyone on here and praying that I see some changes and start to feel better and healthier and can spend more time with my 3 year old. 23. Howdy all! I got my 2nd fill on Friday- 1.8cc- total of 5.8cc. for the first 2 days, I'm thinkin', well crap, that didn't work, then, all of a sudden, day 3, badabing badaboom- houston, we have restriction!! This is what it's really supposed to be like! I am so totally stoked! am able to just have what I'm supposed to, and it lasts for hours! I have more energy, and, and, and, wow!! I've already lost 3 pounds- on my way to my turkey take off goal of 20! yay me! also a couple of NSV's- my cute hubby and I were snugglin one am and I had to have him move his leg cuz it was hurting my hip bone-- what? hip BONE? I have one of those? it was very cool. Then that night playing kick the can with the kids in the backyard and I WON!! yep, cought the kids and almost can outrun them! woohoo! I haven't felt this great in a long time - is it obvious? don't know what I'd do without this forum- you guys are great!! have a great day!

Gone for Good Club - May 2006

Thanks everyone! Clothes do not lie. The scale can be discouraging at times, and I've heard so many people say they don't FEEL any different, but we can't deny the way our clothes are fitting - or rather, NOT fitting! DeAnn - I'm so sorry to hear that the gas is bothering you so much. I remember going through that and it really does suck. I also couldn't get down 1/2 cup of any liquid in one sitting for about a week. The swelling will go down soon. Just keep sipping all you can, and move around a lot to help with the gas. Grats on your NSV Kristin! Love y'all!
