Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgendered Bandsters
AshevilleEddie replied to AshevilleEddie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend. We got back from Gay Days at Disney World late yesterday afternoon. We didn't get to see the ocean of red shirts as we went to Animal Kingdom on Saturday instead of the Magic Kingdom. But we still had a good time. I did go back to the RV a few hours before Sean and the kids because I was totally pooped. Speaking of poop (nice segue, huh?), has anyone else had a problem with constipation? At the risk of sharing TMI, I'll just say that I had a very difficult time going to the bathroom on Saturday. That's extremely unusual for me. The only thing I can think of is that I had been eating a lot of cheese (well, a lot proportionate to everything else I was eating) and not drinking enough water. Anyhoo, it's back to the grind today. Glad to have you aboard Dawn! You've found a great group of folks here, both in this thread and the forum in general. -

Hi girls! Just got back from a doctor's appointment. Blood pressure is PERFECT. WOW, can you just believe it!! I'm so happy about that... I also did bloodwork and that should come back in a few days and I hope my cholesterol is also good. Tracy - For years I always waxed my upper lip but then one day I just started having a bad reaction to the hot wax. I would get this scab that would last for a few days. I stopped doing that. Now I pluck. One by one. Takes me forever but my skin has become so sensitive that not even dipilaroty creams work for me. And I'm Mexican so I'm super hairy! Try the cream first, that might work for you. HEY, has anyone ever gone to to get waxed in your bikini area?? TMI, but my gut always prevented me from seeing my hoo haa but now that I can see it I am seriously considering getting it waxed. How much does it hurt?

Suzie, thanks for all you've done to get our daily tips up and running. They've been a big help to me! And muchas gracias to those who are providing them! Michelle, to paraphrase Kat, "The Christmas weight has left the building!" Good going, girl! Not to bring up a (another) TMI subject for today... but is anyone still having BM problems besides me? I drink my water! I'm taking Miralax...and it's still about once every five days. And like Michelle posted yesterday, I fantasize about the weight I'm losing when I'm finally successful in the bathroom. And please don't even mention the word constipation--ouch ouch ouch! I've even quit weighing on the mornings that I didn't have a BM the previous day. To look on the positive side, obviously keeps me from weighing everyday. :funscale: Loved my classes today--it's good to be back in the teacher mode. Gotta go Google Sex Swing...kinda wondering what to get Bill for our 28th anniversary the end of this month. love to all and positive thoughts for us all on CTC and water tomorrow, Cindy

John you are HILLARIOUS!!! I love when you have TMI to share lol.. Like you said its about time!! I hope your noise maker gets better... LMAO..... How awesome on the 5 lbs... I cant wait to see how you do!! Lee im glad your feeling better. Use your insparameter (sp) thing they gave us that totally helps get the gunk out too. I tried to use mine every hour or so. I was coughing up brown stuff for the first week or so. They gave me a breathing treatment because of my asthma before surgery so that had a little something to do with the brown stuff but the thing they gave us helped so much!! Im the only one on here, where is everyone!! I am so ready to get to the next stage, lookin forward to some egg salad and mashed potatoes lol...Im experiencing a little indigestion not half as bad as I used to but a little today so I am going to ask my PCP what he thinks I can do for it. Should I email Doc Who too??? The medicine I used to take for it isnt on either list in the binder so IDK... Anyways. So sad tomorrow is my last day off. I really could enjoy another week lol...

findingmyself replied to JimmyGotSLEEVED's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The Queen of Stalls made it to Onderland!!!!! May I have a cheer? So excited! I made it yesterday but the ever positive girl here woke up with some serious vinegar that lasted all day. Even had a rough nite sleeping. I am guessing hormones although I am post menopausal (sorry guys for TMI).. Is anyone else finding a grouchy bug that shows up when your weight goes down? I would seriously like to exterminate it. Made my way into L shirts from a 2x (5 inches gone from my chest) go figure. Now I want the w off my pants! Sleeved 4-24 down 24 lbs. Best wishes to all of you! -

I went and got an unfill yesterday. I got to meet Dr. Im who I really liked!! He was really nice!! I have the flu and can't keep anything down. I thought it was the band but seriously I am still throwing up today and have the runs (TMI i know). So I am just plain sick. But my band swelled until I could not even drink water on Monday. I waited until Tuesday and realized I had to get some water in since I was throwing up so much. So I called over and asked them to take some of the fill out until I can get 100% well. I also have the whole chest congestion and cough. Pretty miserable and so glad to have some fluid out so I can focus on getting better. I still have restriction today and everything is sore. Throwing up (not PB'ing this time, really throwing up)and the band don't mix to well. I don't want to gain though I am liking being under 200. So I am doing the water. Right now I have no appetite anyway since nothing stays down. So far I am still doing ok but once I feel better I will have to be strict with the 1200 thing again. I am waiting until after Thanksgiving to go back. Sorta tired of the fill/unfill routine but don't wanna slip my band. I sorta wonder if I should revert to the sleeve at some point. My body seems to fight the band for some reason. I should have got the unfill when I saw Dr. Baggs last week but I wanted to try and make it work............. The carafate was a great idea but I could keep it down. The taste was making me naseaus so it didn't stay down. I had to go to Richmond ER though to get the unfill cause everyone was in surgery or down in Vacaville yesterday. ER was worried about me and I kept telling them this is NOT an emergency I just need some fluid out.......LOL!! But Kelly told me that was the quickest way to get an unfill :-) She actually came down and saw me in ER too which was nice!! My first trip to ER. I had to wear a mask cause of the flu thing. I am seriously hoping I don't have that pig thing!! LOL. Did I mention I got the flu shot on Thurday for H1N1 and regular flu and promptly woke up with the flu on Saturday?? I know, I know they SAY you can't get the flu from the shots but I wonder........this is the second flu this month. I must be immune by now and I hope my band forgives me for all the trauma!! LOL What a day!! I guess I got my trip to Vallejo yesterday ladies!! Sorry I didn't get to see anyone!!

I need a few minutes to whine... and no one understands me like ya'll do. So, TMI or not... when I'm on my period my band gets tighter. And today we had a huge dinner for my Gramps' 83rd birthday. I ate a few bites of a veggie cassarole I made and then a few bites of mashed potatoes. It took me just as long to eat that as it did for most of my family to eat entire plates full of meat loaf and salad and whatever else there was. I kept looking at their plates and wanted to cry. People take huge bites of things like dinner rolls and salad, and I can't eat these things at ALL. If you remember, NO one in my family knows about my band. I'm always paranoid that people will try to push me to eat more... we're all 'feeders', but no one has really said anything to me today. A few people who did see my plate were like, "is that all you're eating?" I mostly stood in a corner to eat, so most people couldn't see what I was or wasn't eating. And the whole period thing... it's basically new to me. This is 3 months in a row now. That has NEVER happened to me before. I got my first one when I was 12, and then I think a few months later I had another... I'd read that in the begining a young girl may not have a regular cycle for a year or more, so I never thought anything about it. After a few years, I did some more research and just kinda figured that the absence of a menstral cycle was a blessing. Lol. Ok, seriously, I just attributed it to my weight. I've been over 300 pounds since I was about 16 years old. In my early 20s I learned about PCOS, and figured that is what the problem was. I still wasn't upset about it. The few times I'd had a period I hated it. And now that it's been here for 3 months in a row I'm really hating it. Even more weird though... I go about 5 weeks between cycles... so it's still not regulated. Losing 100 pounds has been great... don't get me wrong... but on days like today all I can see is how far I still have to go... the wrinkling and sagging skin I have on my arms, thighs, belly, and flat droopy boobs... and having to bleed every month is certainly no reward. Woe is me...

Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
minidriver replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
OH CRAP!!! No pun intended. I realized after I posted that you would be vomiting with a bowel obstruction, so just forget I said that. I do have some scar tissue adhesions in my way lower abdomen from c-sections that sometimes gets "tangled" in my bowels for a few days and hurts like a SOB. I lie on my back and pull on the skin and underlying tissue of my stomach over and over until it breaks up. Sorry. TMI. I am SO glad you're okay. I've been in a meeting for the past two hours and all I could think about was checking the board to see if you were okay! Man, I guess it's obvious that I've lived through having teenagers! Munchkin - I'm so glad that you stand up to doctors. Sometimes my daughter tells me things the doctors have said to her and I just want to scream. What makes them think they're so much better? Nurses are the ones who do all the work. I'm glad you liked "Munchkin and Hutch". We should pitch it to a network. That story about the beagle is so upsetting. People who don't research their doggy choices are so irresponsible. It's not like a sweater that you can just get rid of if it doesn't fit. Crikey. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum
marcyinak replied to Shesha's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Mona: What a way to spend the holidays! I'm glad you're on the mend. LA: It's totally awesome that your mom's helping with the surgery! My parents (who are loaded), cry poor all the time and that they just can't help! I know mom's not too supportive over the whole surgery thing because she's had complications with a hernia surgery and thought that I would too...she also this that I'll fail at this too...since she wasn't able to keep off the Adkins lbs. she lost...we're clones you see. OK - TMI coming up, but need help. Got my tubes tied with my last kid and since then I have two added problems: I crave chocolate a week before my period (I don't normally like the stuff) and my blood flow is more than it's ever been. So, after sleeping through this past week I realized last night that I'm low on iron! No wonder since I can't eat meat and usually I just have a steak or two during "that week" and that keeps me going. Any suggestions on getting my iron up? I'd like to start working out, but can't get out of bed! Ahhhh! It's getting cold here...almost zero today...thank heavens we have a Rec Center! -
OK men, FYI, this is a TMI post. PJTP-Why on earth should a sport bra make you look fatter?!?!?! Ok, so I bought new sports bras yesterday (not that I am actively doing any sports). I wear them most times because a) they are easier to deal with and they control the floppy girls better for work than my other bras (I'm sure it has to do with the fact that I haven't bought new bras since weight loss). Ok, back to the story. I bought new bras yesterday. I can only assume this is how they are supposed to fit, but they squeeze the girls in to where they almost meet my belly! That is so not sexy!

Ha ha, funny....Not!!! Oh my goodness, that is too funny. How old are they? Did you get those gifts for him? Well, then you need to be a facebooker!! Donna, I am so relieved to hear everything is ok with your band. Are you feeling better now? That is awesome. I work for a child-serving agency and we have a mentoring program. It is amazing the positive difference a good mentor can make in the life of a child. Uh-oh, what happened?? Donna, I am a step-grandma too. I have two children from my first marriage and three step-kids from this one. The oldest son has a beautiful baby boy. The middle daughter has three kids, she started when she is 15 and is just now 21. Well, I had my surgery yesterday morning. They didn't have to shave my toes!! I was ok yesterday, but I guess that was because the anesthesia had now worn off yet. I woke up this morning and thought I was going to die. I stood up and immediately became majorly lightheaded and nauseated. I spent about three hours dry-heaving (sorry if TMI) and am now hoping I didn't cause any harm to my band. I think it is ok though. DH had to work today, so he had DD stay home from school to take care of me. She force fed me crackers and made me drink some Gatorade. I am actually feeling better now. But, my foot is absolutely killing me!!! He has me on some pretty good pain medicine, but every time I take it it makes me dizzy again and very sleepy. I can't believe I have to go through this again with the other foot and am definitely not looking forward to it. And, I am not allowed to go back to work until he gives me the approval. My post-op appointment isn't until Monday afternoon. I have strict orders to keep my foot elevated, on ice and to stay off of it as much as possible. So, I am already bored out of my mind. Needless to say, I will be spending a lot of time on the forums and sleeping. Keep me entertained guys! LJM, how are things going with Joshua. I love seeing all the pictures you post of him, he is such a cutie. How does dd like being a big sister?
