  1. This is inspiring to me as it is not all about the scale victories! I’m 12 weeks out today and haven’t had many Non Scale Victories (NSV’s) yet! One big one was last week and I didn’t need a seat belt extension on one leg of the flight! My 5x clothes are starting to get loose on me which is a good thing. I wanted to post here so when I start chalking up all my NSV’s I remember how far I have come. At this time I still use beach towels, wear a size 30 but can get into my 28’s now. I usually sit while I’m in the shower, still don’t sit in a booth and chairs with arms at restaurants make me nervous. I can’t get down the airplane isle without bumping into people on each side. It doesn’t help to turn sideways either as I’m wide both ways. I still pull myself up the banister to get up the stairs. I can’t really shop or go site seeing as I get winded too easily. I have to lean on my shopping cart to get around the store. Okay, this is sounding like a laundry list of why I had the surgery and it is. I’ve noticed all of the posts on here about those that have crossed these hurdles and had major NSV’s! Bring it on!
  2. November has been NSV month for me. I have been to two college football games and an NFL game with even thinking about being a tight squeeze into the seat. Tomorrow I fly out to TN and am not stressed on where I will be sitting on the flight and when I get to TN I am going to be in a tree stand that I am not too heavy for.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I totally understand this...... I know in my head that I have lost almost 100 pound from the start but I do t really see it Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App yall, this is exactly my nsv, too. so, i was snuggling with my hubby, and i lying on top (don't worry, we're clothed, this is totally safe for work lol), and i said "why is this so uncomfortable?" it turns out that i was still holding myself up as if i was trying not to bear all my weight on him. i've lost 125 lbs, and my body still felt the need to prevent itself from crushing my partner LOL. my mind was truly blown at just how mental this world is, you know what i mean? ahh, this journey is so fun.

    How about some NSVs!?!?

The scale this morning had a new middle number, but since this is the NSV thread... Was putting on jeans for a date Saturday night... The pair I pulled on looked saggy in the butt and they were the only pair I've been wearing lately that fit at all any more. I saw a pair laying folded on the closet floor (yeah, my closet is like that), grabbed them, pulled them on and they fit (without cutting me in half even). Two months ago I was in a 16. I looked at the pair I had tried on and they were a 14. Went in the bathroom (where there was light) and checked the tag and the pair I had on were a 12!!!! I'm in a FREAKIN' SIZE 12 JEAN!!! So, I promptly went to the mall, into Express and tried on this really cute lacy top that maxed out in a size large (no XL's in that store) and the size LARGE fit!!! Tell me I wasn't feeling like a rock star on that date (only the second with this guy).
  5. I have a funny NSV...I was shaving my legs and when I ran my hand over my thigh I felt something hard and thought I had some kind of mass. Upon further inspection I realized it was just muscle! I wasn't use to having hard, muscular thighs...I was use to soft flabby ones! Surgery: 6/26/13 HW 370 SW 331 CW 276

    How about some NSVs!?!?

My nsv happened Saturday. I just got a cute new hair cute and had to go get cash due to the system being down at the salon. I went to 7-11 and was leaving the store when on of my friends walked right past me as if she didn't know me. I slapped her on her butt and she turned around having a look of shock on her face that was priceless! It took her a second to realize it was me. She had no words! It was pretty funny and made my day!

    How about some NSVs!?!?

Friday was my 6 month (at 7 months? post op follow up visit. My BP was 110/57 HR was 76 Amy cholesterol 135 overall LDL 43 HDL 85 all other blood panels were in the normal range A1c was 4.1and my body fat is down to 20%! The Dr. was extatic about my results! He said that by far I am his most successful patient at the VA! My skin is healing well I have some loose skin but looks like it is still young and will probably not need to have any removed as it is not hanging and my muscle building will help for it to "go back to normal"! Another NSV is my energy level, my family and are are getting ready to move across country (for me to continue my education I was accepted to Colorado State University) and I have been loading the moving pods all weekend and have done most of the heavy-lifting myself. I am not tired or sore I worked all day both Saturday and yesterday and was like the energizer bunny, I just kept going and going.

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

NSV is non scale victory. PB is when food won't go down so it comes up. It stands for productive burp. Sometimes it's just a burp and food comes with it. I have had regular old throwing up when I was too tight. Luckily, I don't have that problem anymore.
  11. Hello folks.... so I've been thinking about how some of the things discussed here are rather relative. I haven't really thought it through but what got me thinking was this one post (can't remember which one but it was one from years ago!) and the poster was my height and considerably more overweight when she got started. She was celebrating having come down to my current weight and was listing her current NSV as well. That got me thinking... so we are the same height and at that point in time the same weight and this was a big success for this poster and that was great... I mean I was genuinely happy for her as it had clearly been a while since she was that weight. But then I started thinking about how her [emoji106] was my [emoji107]... so I started wondering how much of this was perception. H 5'6" HW 253, CW 245, TBS 9/19

    OCTOBER 2014

Ok ladies NSV time! My family and I went to Christmas Town last night at Busch gardens - I was actually able to comfortable ride the roller coaster and other rides with my oldest! I was elated to not be embarrassed by the barely closed seatbelt! Also we took a family photo with Santa and it was the first time in 8 years I didn't cringe. I am proud if it! Keep pushing through all! This is so worth it!

    OCTOBER 2014

Here's my NSV for today. I drove up here to Longview (about 4.5 hours from my house) to conduct a teacher's workshop. I brought a pair of my favorite dress pants that I hadn't worn since before the surgery because they were too tight. I figured they'd perfectly by now. And, yes, I know. I should have checked before I left home. So, now I have a little problem because they do not fit. They are literally falling off me. At the moment, I have a binder clip at my waist to "take them in." I have about an hour before the workshops starts. I'm seriously considering going to Wally World (aka Walmart) and getting a pair of "emergency pants." LOL! All I need is a bunch of teachers saying, "Teacher, Teacher I declare. I see someone's underwear!" Some situations are frustrating and exciting at the same time.... Have a great day, everyone. Glenda

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Hi everyone! Long time, no type. It took a while to catch up. I had an NSV the other day. My ex was talking to one of my neighbors and she asked him if I had lost weight. Since he and I had discussed this recently, he told them yes. They did not know about the surgery, just that I had lost weight! It was a nice feeling that someone had noticed. I honestly think it is because I have some clothes that fit. Another bandster is smaller than I and has given me a ton of her clothes. It is great because I am about 2 sizes larger than her, so as we both loose weight, I am getting a new wardrobe. Congrats all on the losses. You motivate me and keep me coming back!

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Howdy all:) I was psyched to be able to post on the Friday weigh in thread today:) I had a fill yesterday of almost 1cc. I amfeeling good, and hoping that this helps me get my butt in gear. We are headed out to Daytona bike week in 21 days and I want to be down another 10 by then.. I hope I'm not looking for too much, I think its attainable? I guess I'll just have to find out. I am all about planning ahead and have made plans for the resort I will be staying in. I WILL NOT be drinking and eating out for 11 days!!!! Anyhoo, have a great weekend all, and congrats to all on the NSV's and milestones for weightloss. Bravo!! :)Kerri

    March Bandsters: MASTER THREAD

Desdemona It's funny how seemingly little things to others are so important to us. Most people would not think alot about walking around all day at the flea market. I would have been back at the car after 1 hour a few months ago. A few months ago I would go to work and take the elevator to my floor. Now I run up the stairs (still arrive out of breath) and beat the elevator. I think these are called NSV's and I love it. Labor day weekend we went to a family reunion and 1 of my SIL's asked me why I did not eat any homemade ice cream. I told her I was watching it and she said, Why, your not fat! My husband reached over and squeezed my shoulders because he knew I was getting ready to tear up....someone sees me as not fat. Of course later that evening my 4 yr old grandson poked his finger in my tummy and said Grandma, your tummy is big.....that was OK:laugh:

That's FANTASTIC that your BP and meds have dropped/been cut so much! Do you feel better at your lower doses? I think that's probably the best NSV of all - a genuine improvement in health, even if you don't feel particularly different...

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

So, total NSV! I climbed a huge dune at Sleeping Bear national dunes a few hours north of me in Michigan. Would have NEVER attempted it 4 months and +76 lbs ago. I was so proud of myself I had to call my dad as soon as I got to the top! You can barely see, but that's me at the top! Wooo!

    Any February 2014 Sleevers?

That is sooo awesome. I know you must be so thrilled. I also had a great day. With a NSV too. I had bought a pair of tan capris pants back in 2009 that were just a bit tight, that was going to be my motivation to get into them. But never got into them... But today I soooo got into them, and they were not tight. It's a huge deal to show my ankles since I have tree trunks for legs. But this is changing. I cannot wait until the day that I can get into a pair of shorts. Also, I ate shredded chicken tonight for the first time since surgery day, and it was Delish!!!
