You go girl! I forgot about that - robes not closing. At the hospital, I could wrap that presurgical gown around me three-four times, that never happens! They had to go get me a smaller one, lol. I am so looking forward to ditching the ugly brown (men's) xxxl robe i used to use & replacing it with my favorite black silk ones. Oh, i can't wait! Its been so long! I have my old Kimonos etc boxed away. I am so lookimg forward to having a stone massage & dropping my robe & walking to the table with confidence. Its been soooo long since I had a professional massage. ahhhh. Thanks for sharing your NSV & reminding me of those memories.

I went to the spa today and for the first time (have not been in a year) the robe closed all the WAY. Also went to Macy's today and was able to buy a pair of jeans from there, size 22. I think I wore that at BIRTH! I love my BAND!!!

Slouching
FromFlabToFab replied to SeriouslyChange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slouch much more comfortably than usual cuz of the single belly roll I have now as opposed to the double I did have. That was actually one of my first NSVs that I had noticed -
Yes it sure does, it gives you motivation to keep going. Congrats on the NSV! Keep up the good work!!

I was so excited that my clothing sizes where shrinking that I danced into the normal section..... lol I still have a hard time believing that I wear a size 10. I'll pick up a pair of 10 pants and think "too small" so I always take size 10 & 12 to the fitting room..... yep, the 12's are too big, I really am a size 10. You will get use to the change (& it's a great change)! Good luck on your journey, enjoy all the NSV like this!

NSV's are greatest!!Congrats!

What is a onelander? Congrats though on your NSV what a great feeling!!

Long ago I used to post the sudden little NSVs that appeared in my life.....it got to the point after a few months postOp where I could easily generate about 10 a week that sneaked up on me. Some were such as "realizing I could wear my cowboy hat IN my pickup without it mashing into the roof" or wondering whether a squad of carpenter leprechauns hustled around in restaurants rebuilding the always-too-tight booths so I could actually fit IN them comfortably.... NSV covers a lot a ground even when the scale numbers don't seem to be cooperating. Having to box up my old XXXX stuff and return it to Omar the Tent maker, and learning there are entire stores that DON'T have an XXXX size in them! was another NSV. Cheers,

I always hear people talking about it...what does that stand for? Merry Christmas to everyone

Don't be afraid to try new things! NSV
daisychains7 posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The best part about my weight loss is the newfound freedom I feel to try things that scared me in the past. I was always worried and embarrassed that I wouldn't be able to keep up or would look like an idiot. Well, no more. Yesterday morning I went snowboarding for the first time ever!!! And even though I fell 100 times, it was a success just for me to get on that board and try it! Never be afraid to try something new and make the most of your second chance. -
female only NSV that Ladies My Age can probably understand
CowgirlJane posted a topic in The Gals' Room
I am in my late 40s, lost 130+ pounds over the last year and a really nice looking man hit on me yesterday. He was probably a couple of years younger then me, but in my age range for sure. I had to restrain myself from thanking him and giving him a kiss before sending him on his way... I did restrain myself but it made my day and then some! I was dressed conservatively, but smartly (nice black jeans, a calvin klein fitted jacket (thank you ross for less) and nice boots. It is not that I am dying to be hit on, it is more like I spent the rest of that day feeling really confident - like the way i looked, my demeanor attracted a person I considered desirable - like maybe for the first time in a very long time I am projecting the image of myself I want to project. -

As I understand it an NSV is a non-scale victory. Things like getting a "hey you look great!" from a co-worker or simply fitting into clothes from years gone by. -

I had a rough weekend, followed by a NSV. So, I thought I'd share. In terms of roughness I am struggling a little with boundaries regarding the mushies phase of the diet. I probably ate something that were pushing it in terms of nutritional value. I chewed them pretty thoroughly 25-30 times a bite, but I knew they were things I shouldn't be eating yet or at all and still did. On the whole did I do myself any major harm in what I did? Probably not. Although it didn't feel great and although it wasn't a stuck food episode, my band definitely told me "hey! stop that! you can't eat like that!" I didn't eat a huge amount or really even stuff my face like I might have done in the past. My only real regret is that I should be more careful right now because I am healing still. And I don't want to strech my pouch or do anything that could cause me harm or affect my longterm success. My NSV is a nice one. I woke up this morning and had forgotten to put in a wash last night. So, I thought I'd check my closet for old clothes that might fit now. I grabbed a pair of pants that I haven't worn for almost 10 years. They fit! I ironed them and put them on, confirming that I have lost 4 inches off my waist and although I am not yet in my 40's.....my pant size is. That's a race I thought I would lose. I'm getting closer to being able to once again walk into a regular store and buy clothing. I haven't been able to do that in years. -

Congrats on both NSVs! I am happy you now know what they are! Merry Christmas! -
now that i know what everyone means by nsv, lol, i finally reached one! i have a pair of jeans (just 1) that i could barely fit in, would have to lay down to zip up. now, i can just pull them down cuz their so big, lol.... also, the wheel doesn't rub my belly while driving, i think that is the best part....

Dang it. I've been wanting to ask but embarrassed, lol. What is an NSV?

Just when I didn't think my energy levels could get any lower, today was a true test. I had to stay up all night finishing a paper, and I was going to go to sleep sometime around 11AM. However, my mom and extended family wanted to drag me out shopping. I was in such a foul mood my mom told me to stay home, and I almost did, but then she felt bad and made me go. Needless to say, walking around with no sleep, protein, sugars, carbs in my body made me feel so physically and mentally exhausted I wanted to cry. The mall was crowded and I couldn't stand all the people around. (Normally I'm such a social person and don't mind at all). But today, everything was pushing my buttons. We also went to Costco. MAN, THAT WAS SO DIFFICULT. If any of you know about Costco, Sam's or BJ's, they offer free samples of their food products. Well, almost every isle had something. Cheesecake, crackers, spreads, mozzarella sticks, pizza, cookies, candy. I wanted to scream right in the middle of the store. But I didn't have a single bite of anything and I felt at least a little proud of myself. I think I caught this one guy staring at me as I was eyeballing my grandmother so hard for eating a lovely piece of candy. I felt like he was thinking "Why isn't this fat girl eating all of the samples?" But oh well. LIQUIDS ARE KILLING ME. I picked up some light muscle milk (said not made with milk) and some lactaid milk as well in case I am lactose intolerant. I also have to buy lactaid pills, just in case. However, I hope I can definitely stand milk. I kind of had a NSV today. When I was at the mall I was looking for a holiday outfit. I still bought a dress in a 22, but I probably could've got it in a 20. However, I did try on this lace party dress in a 20, and holy cow, IT FIT! I haven't tried on jeans because they're uncomfortable, but maybe 16 pound weightloss did help me get down to a 20. It's been since high school that I've been in a 20. I've been a 22 for the last 4 years. When I reach a 14, I feel like the world's fashion doors will open to me. Oh, when I came home, I slept for 10 hours o.O Can't say I didn't need it! xx

Dissappointed by surgeon's goal
Ballermom replied to erp's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Surgeon goal was low. He set a goal of 180 lbs. I started at 265lbs. I want to get to 140lbs. But I'm not gonna worry. I'm gonna focus. Getting healthy and learning how to eat with stages of diet in the beginning. Being grateful to gain strength with any weight loss and happy to reach NSV (non scale victories). in other words Enjoying the whole ride. Later I'll add my own goal. -
December 2012 --- Band Buddies Unite!
LadyLeigh2012 replied to LadyLeigh2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK … entering into 'Onderland' would not be a NSV … so my new #1 is when I can say my size 16s are easy to just slip on and off without unbuttoning them … from there that'll change to 14s … then to 12s … and then … hmmmm … I don't know! I have never been under a 12 in my adult life!
