Attention February 2013 Sleeve Buddies!
enuff_is_enuff replied to LizTex2587's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Gang!!! I hope everyone is doing their very best, pre and post op sleevers. Monday I finally went back to work and had a blast. I put on a bright pink dress with make up and all and had a great non stressful day. I will say I have had more success with eating adequately and slowly since I have come back to work. I am drinking more than my 32 ounces of water with no problem.. maybe I should have came back sooner. This process has been a blessing and a curse sometimes. I did not have any major complications. My only complaint was the stomach cramps. No vomiting, little nausea and no "bathroom" problems. Surgery did make my surgery a week late but that was to be expected. Soo here are the stats. Initial Consultation- 280 Submission Day- 291 Surgery Day-272 Today?????? Drum Roll Pleaseeeeeeee............. 258!!! Now If only I could find a dedicated gym partner, that would be great! I am trying to go to the gym or outside with my son everyday and also 30min 4 times a week in the morning. Here are some of my NSV's -A pair of shorts I bought 1 day after my wedding were super tight on my thighs and I could not get them up... Put them on the other day, --:-) Dance party in my bedroom, smiles all around.. They came up and I had some room. -- My workout clothes are becoming lose again! ---Yesterday while getting out of my car, a man in a minivan stopped his car and said, " Ma'am, I just had to let you know it's nice to see a pretty thick woman, you are beautiful"... Then he drove off! Confirmation at the least, ego booster! ---- My husband and I have "drives" through the roof right now! ----- I have inspired my husband to eat healthier and lose weight for the upcoming trip.. Love him either way! ------ I actually chased after my son while on his new bike yesterday without becoming winded. Also walking with my coworker around the block twice without my back tightening up on me..... I am thankful I was able to have surgery, have such a wonderful support system and also hopefully be an inspiration and greatly supportive to all of you !!!!!!!!! -
Kim, I suggest burping and farting a lot. *laughs* ow ow *evil grin* Seriously though, if I had to face going to work on Monday morning I'd be in a panic. I see these folks that went shopping within three days and I think "What a wus I am!" But DeLara's words keep rining in my ears. Everyone's different. My doc told me to try Milk of Magnesia, which I got today and will try tonight. On top of the gas pains, I haven't had a bowel movement since the day before surgery. I'm thinking constipation will be worse than gas. *chews nails* (not a pretty subject, but all's fair here right?) Speaking of "touchy" subjects, my husband says that since the women on here talk about their sagging boobs (kneepads someone called them) and other more personal things, he wondered if the men talked about equally private nsv. *laughs* I won't go into details. I'm in a "mood" and need to behave myself. *laughs more* Anyway, many grats Kim! *links arms with you and Kennedy927* Here we go.. and! Did you see that? Candice has lost 50 pounds in three months! WooHoo! I'm so excited! Hmm.. I wonder if she's doing so well because she loves to shop? Maybe WalMart has some benifits afterall? hehe

One-on-one holiday exercise challenge, anyone?
Zoe replied to Zoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here's a summary, as far as I understand it. Greg and Becky, you may have different ideas. Anyone interested will weigh in on Monday, Nov. 22, & send a PM to Greg. Then we just start exercising like fiends. Check in on the thread on Mondays if you can & report your exercise for the last week. The challenge runs through Monday, Jan. 3, when we'll report our final weights, and also tell how we're feeling and any NSVs (inches lost, muscle gained, blood pressure down, construction workers whistling, etc.). I don't know if the winner should be chosen based on most exercise, most weight lost, or best description of Greg in his thong Speedo; I leave that up to wiser heads. -
lol What a NSV huh?! You've just made my day!

Tray Table Down?Really the Tray Table Went Down
Yvette1026 commented on Cingulus's blog entry in Blog 61341
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Congratulations I KNOW that must feel good! I didn't use my tray when I just flew, probably out of habit of not being able to, but for once I wasn't "wedged" into the seat I was able to sit somewhat comfortably... YAY FOR YOU! HUGE NSV!!! -
:angryI am getting so frustrated, banded 11/15/2007, 1st fill 1/26/2007 3cc in a VG band which holds 14cc. The scale has not moved in over 5 weeks. I am eating protien first, never eating and drinking together. I started working out this week everyday a minimum of 30 minutes. I definately see NSV as the inches are coming off but would like to know if any of you have experienced this and when does it surpass? Next fill is scheduled 1/22/2008

A few Victories 1 month PO!
Armygalbonnie replied to GACaldwell's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Stupid question: What is an NSV? No small victory?? -
Refresh my memory: when was your surgery? And how long ago was your fill? Is it too soon or another? My surgery was late July. I had my first fill in early September....well, maybe about the 10th. Then I had a 2nd the beginning of October and a 3rd the end of October. Then I had fairly good restriction. We went south for the winter so I didn't have another for six months. That was April. Good restriction now, but I want another "tweak", so I'm going in next week. Sounds like you need to be a little tighter. This is so much easier when restriction is right. So sorry to hear about your son's home. That's so sad. Did they have flood insurance?? We are making our RV site permanent when we get back in the fall... well, we're taking it on a yearly rental rather than monthly. I guess that's not exactly "permanent", but we want to stay longer next winter and anything more than four months, you may as well go yearly. WA state folks from our RV park in CA had a reunion/picnic yesterday, so I faced a few temptations myself! I had a tiny sliver of cheese cake, a small spoonful of potato salad, among other things I shouldn't have eaten! Good to hear from you. One pound a week is okay! I strive for 5# a month. If I can do that consistently, I'm on track. If not, time for a fill!! That's GREAT NEWS!! Isn't that a wonderful accomplishment! Terrific NSV!! Since surgery almost a year ago, I am down to one cholesterol Rx instead of two and my doctor just cut strength on one of my two BP meds in half. I'm pretty pleased with that, too. Keep in touch, everyone!! We need the support and encouragement we get from one another! Us OLD CHICKS & GUYS have to stick together!

My Update: Weight loss has been slow & in longgggg stalls BUT NSV inches mean fitting back into closets full of Spring clothes and feeling better!

We entertained over the weekend and A LOT of junk food ended up making its way to my kitchen. I snacked on some of it yesterday... and the effects showed up on the scale this morning. So, I went straight downstairs, dumped chips, dips, cookies, peanuts, etc. down the garbage disposal. Some (my dh included if he knew would call this waste, but is it really a waste if the food has absolutely no nutritional value?? I don't think so!!

LOL this is awesome. I now have another NSV - buy some corduroy pants!

The only time I have struggled with emotions was for the two weeks immediately post-op. I was uncharcteristically emotional ( crying over little things that would not normally phase me). I was losing weight rapidly in those two weeks, plus my body was recuperating from surgery and anesthesia. One of the PA's told me something about hormones in fat cells and that when you are losing weight rapidly these hormones get released. Dont' remember the exact details of how it was explained to me. But no emotional issue since that time. I think having a realistic perspective about post-band weight loss helps not to get bogged down or too obsessive about slower weight loss and/or plateaus. I try to focus on NSV(s) and the fact that this is going to be a long-term process when things aren't moving as quickly as I would like. Best of luck to you!

Another of hubby and I, I love that I look so slim hidding behind hubby LOL...the fatest parts are hidden.

This may be a dumb question, but what does NSV stand for? I've seen it in different forums, and I can't quite figure it out.

One Year Out: Support, Motivation, and Tough Love
ProudGrammy replied to hap314ness's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
hey bud wow - look at those NSV's!!! I'm sure you have many more too!! Make a special icon on your desktop to keep records of all your NSV's. ( ie the 1rst time you wore a smaller clothes size) you will see all your accomplishments and should be proud!!!🤗 Many OP go through different rough spots on their journey. Might gain a little too - but try not to upset yourself - causing you to possibly eat like the "good ol' days" (conflict in terms)!! Sounds like you still need to weigh your food - that way you can't / shouldn't overeat. Or keep a tally of how a much a portion/calories for foods you eat a lot. IE a certain chicken dinner. it is hard when you don't see that bloody scale move - but you know the drill about stalls - their a bummer, but we must deal with them. Don't weigh yourself daily for awhile. then you won't see any possible fluctuations. I get that that you are scared and frustrated now!! But you know where you were - where you are now, and where you want to go. I know you can get back on that horse - might be a little hard at this point - but you can, you can!! btw - i'm almost 7 years sleeve PO - going strong weighing in this morning .9 of a lb over goal. Also i'm still cute as a button LOL good luck bud kathy -
Congrats on your exciting NSV!

I'm just about 10 weeks or so since my surgery (6/18) and in down about 66 pounds as of this past Monday. I know I've listing the weight. I see the scale moving. I know my clothes are too big. I know people are telling me I lost weight. There are little NSV that tell me I lost weight like ankle strap shoes fitting and my heels not hurting and driving my mothers car without moving the seat back to fit. But why when I look in the mirror do I see the same body I saw before surgery? Does anyone else feel this way? When did it go away? Does it go away? I can kinda see it in pics but I don't feel like its me weighing less so much as just the clothes that I'm wearing. I attached pics. I hope it worked. All black is surgery day, 6/18. Pink is 8/27.
