  1. -hugs- Feel better hun. I'm sure as the week goes on you will be able to sleep better and rest. Thanks for making me feel better.

  2. Hello, I saw a reply that you did. I weigh 380 now and want to lose about 180lbs. I want to get to 200lbs. Anyway, I saw that your goals where kinda close to mine. I am looking for a couple people to blog with for support. I wanted to know if we could keep in touch and work together. I could really lose the help. I will be going o the gym doing about an hour of cardio 5 times per week also. I was planning on doing the Atkins diet. So, yeah let know.

  3. Hello, I read your post about losing 100lbs in 3 1/2 months. I am now 2wks post op. I weigh 380 now and want to lose about 180lbs. I want to get to 200lbs. Anyway, I saw that your goals where pretty close to mine. I am looking for a couple people to blog with for support. I wanted to know if we could keep in touch and work together. I could really lose the help. I will be going o the gym doing about an hour of cardio 5 times per week also. I was planning on doing the Atkins diet. So, yeah let know.

  4. Hi Sara,

My name is Elyn, I thought it would be nice to chat as well since i live in Mundelein, I am looking for a buddy =) I had my surgery on 07/30 and am doing ok I have lost about 20 pounds but now it is like a pound to 3 a week.. how are you doing??

  5. That is great about the clothes, not about the work or the crotch ;) I have a selection of work clothes that will get me through quite a few kilos of my loss which is great! :)

Canteen food tends to be like that, I hope you can bring in your own or have somewhere near you that has healthier options for those days you can't be bothered making your lunch! ;) Do you have an area you can heat up your own food??

I will definitely be taking the 2 weeks!! And no it isn't long now!! Had my preop with the surgeon today! Just a formality, only 15minutes. He did say that there appears to be a correlation between those who lose weight well on the preop doing well after the surgery :) Preop Nurse Friday! Did you use Degas after your surgery??

  6. Good Job! I've lost 17 lbs total. I called the Dr. last week and started mushies, so I've been have refried beans!LOL And I have not been hungry...well I get hungry after like 5 hours of not eating, but when I'm done with my portion I feel full. I can't wait to see you tomorrow. If you get there before me save me a sit and I will do the same!

  7. I tried sending you a message and I don't know if I sent it, or deleted it. So if I'm repeating myself, sorry. Congrats and good luck next week. How exciting. I can't stand the wait. My appointment is 8/25, I'm still trying which loan to go with for my financing. Guess I better hurry up. Your process went really quick. Are you in CO?

  8. Hey! The support group......to be honest, no, I don't really like it so i'm sure you wouldn't like it either. I go with my coworker who just had the bypass..(we both used Dr. Mailapur). But like i said, I am the only bandster who shows up. So I feel out of place most of the time. I have only been to 3...one before surgery, and 2 since surgery. My first one after surgery, we were all giving our testimonials and almost all the bypass patients were talking about how they don't have any cravings for the bad food and no hunger and i was sitting there wanting to leave...I was in a big "blah" stage with LOTS of HUNGER and cravings and anger from missing food. Even though we are all supposed to follow the same diet plan, bypassers and banders have separate issues and we go through different things. I wish we had a band support group, but until then, i guess you and this site will be mine. :) Have a good weekend!!!

  9. Good Morning,

I was back to work yesteday. I had the advantage to work from home this week on Thursday and Friday, which was good for me, but there is a lot of stress going on right now at work. I am off and on the road this Monday, so it should be interesting.

I have one grown son, that lives at home with me and my husband. He works and goes to school full time so he passes through occassionally. I hope you are feeling well. Keep in touch.

  10. Hi Whooooosh

i am so glad to hear youve had your consultant's appt through, i bet your really excited now, once your over this hurdle that's it :)

And yeah that would be great if you and friend end up having ur bands around the same time, u'll be able to support each other.

you'll have to let me know how everything goes at the appt, i still havent had mine yet which is getting me a bit raced off now as it's taking forever :( from the day when the doc said yes to the refferal i left it 4 weeks still not heard, so rang her she said she'd been away for 2 weeks so still not sent it off (grrr) and now it's been another 2 weeks since then, i'm checking the post everday like a mad woman, lmao

just cant wait for it to come now

anyway spk soon and good luck for Monday

    Natalie

  11. Doing well Brenda! Mushies are fun, but challenging! It's hard to only eat softy stuff, but trying out new recipes is fun! i bet this week is going by super slow for you! Oh and I lost 2.5 more pounds! So hooray!! My fave softy so far is garlic mashed potatoes...mmmmm!

  12. Just a quick HI! and BYE! Love you sweetie... Miss you so much! Wish I could meet up with you in Vegas next week!

  13. Merek: I am actually from the Kansas City area but our insurance is admistrated via SC. I am not a state employee.

My requirement were 1. BMI over 35, 2. Letter from a Pyscologist stating that I was of sound mind to make my own medical decisions. 3. and a letter from a Nutritionist saying that I was a good candidate.

I found that if you CALL THEM and talk to the determination department and find out EXACTLY what they need, it helps.... because each surgeon and each provider (shrink, nutritionist) has their OWN requirements.

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!! The band is by far the best thing I have ever done for myself.. (I am a volume eater, and the band stops that dead it its tracks!)

  14. Hello Trish, I'm not yet banded, but will be VERY soon (within the next 6 weeks) and I too could use some friends on here, so....let's be friends. Sorry I cannot help you with your port issue. Stephanie

  15. Hi Barbara..

I live about an hour and a half south of you , but if you ever want to get together I go to st pete and clearwater a couple times a month.. I was banded on 3-6-08 what about you? Jana :)

  16. Hey, girlie. How are you doing? Just wanted to check on you - I haven't been around much the past two weeks and I'm checking on everybody! :)

  17. Hello everyone! I had my lap band surgery (Realize Band) on January 4th of 2008. So far, I've lost 30 pounds and would love to lose another 35, but will be happy with 20. At this point I'm nearly 6 months out and have lost some momentum and motivation. I'm trying to remedy that by forming a partnership with a young woman whom I met in my pre-op classes. She and I had surgery on the same day and were in recovery together. We keep in touch by email and are going to meet in person tomorrow (first time we've seen each other since our post-op class) and I'm excited about that.

It 's taken me a long time to feel restriction and so far I've had five fills and have 7.5cc's in my 9cc band. I go for another fill next week, which will probably put me at 8cc's. I'm so hoping to find my "sweet spot" if there is such a thing. I've been through a lot of ups & downs in the last few months, but overall am very happy that I had the surgery and have had no complications or side effects (other than losing weight & that's a good thing).

I really can use all of the encouragement, suggestions and moral support that's available through this site. I'll be happy to keep in touch with any of you who want & need encouragement too. I've come so far, I can't give up now.

  18. Hi Pat , Just wondering how U R doing. I've lost 37 lbs total but haven't lost since I started on solid food. Thinking about asking to move my fill date up 4 weeks since they have me 8 weeks between fills. Who should I ask the doc or Nancy. Any way hope to see U at the meeting Wed. night. John

  19. Hey Little Sister,

I will finally get to be start my life on the fourth of July, just like this great country of ours did. I will be banded on the third. 2 weeks and 3 days. I RESTART the pre-op diet Thursday. I am very excited. Are you able to eat better? How much have you lost so far? Please let me know as I am rooting for you!!!! Take care-Donita

  20. Hi,

I am soooo glad to have found another Dr. Sarker patient. Please, let's keep in touch! I am finished with all the pre-ops except the 6 month supervised diet. How did you fulfill that requirement? Weight watchers?

One of my concerns about Loyola is that they will not have the post-op support that I think is really, really important. Dr. Sarker told me that after she does the surgery, it is up the patient to decide when to return and get fills. I attended the monthly support group meeting in May and would you believe that NO ONE showed up? Not even the psychiatrist who is the leader of the group! It was supposed to start at 6:30pm. At 6:25pm, I called her cell phone and told her that no one else was there besides me. She goes 'Oh, um, oh, ummm, well, yea, I'll be there in 5 minutes.' After 15 minutes I called her back and said 'I'm going home now.' I didn't want to talk to her anyways. I want to speak with people who are living with the lap band. She said 'Well, maybe next month more people will come.' I told her I wasn't going to come next month on the off-chance that someone else would be there. I work in Elk Grove Village and live in Villa Park so it is a little inconvenient to be driving to the Maywood campus.

I made a contact with a woman who lives in Wheaton who has had a lap band for 5 years. She's been real supportive and telling me how it really is to live with the lap band. She's lost 100 pounds but has been stalled for a little while in loosing more. She had her surgery done at Loyola also but by Dr. Sayani (sp?) who is no longer there.

I have to get ready for work now but I would love to write you again and keep in touch and compare notes on our Loyola experiences. Definitely let me know how your experience has been with Dr. Sarker's office and getting the insurance information all pulled together and sent off.

Thanks so much for contact me. Take care.

  21. I go for a fill on Mondy, the 23rd and am hoping that will help kick start the weight loss again, i've been struggling big time lately and really need to get back on the wagon. I also need to start to slow down when I eat, I definitely eat too much. Congrats on the weight 21# loss in a month. I have lost 17# since my surgery 7 weeks ago.

  22. I was banded on the 9th of this month, Im almost a week out, Im still on liquids, but I have added small amounts of food to my diet, I chew and chew til its liquid. Would this hurt me? Or do you highly recommend that I go back to full liquids to my mushy stage which is next weekend. I only have 2 weeks prior, to surgery, and 2 weeks after for liquids, up until today, Ive done great. But, its made me sick just drinking all the time. I have a gym membership, and have progressed one day at a time. But feeling lots better. I feel a little guilty that I ate some things today, which wasnt much at all. Any suggestions?

  23. Hi! my name is toni-lisa and i live in the philadelphia area. I was a dancer MANY years ago and so i know what it feels like to be in an athletic level of fitness. But that seems like a far away dream now

since i am now at my highest weight EVER! HATING IT !!!!!!!!!!

huff and puff just walking across a room. stay pretty reclusive.

most of my professional pursuits don't require that I interact with the public all that much. I am an author\ children's photographer \ painter\ custom beaded jeweler. In the mid-90's I was also a speaker and performer ... which i adored !!!!! there is no more magical feeling (for me) than having an audience in the palm of my hand. I love it when they laugh. I love it when they cry. I truly have a Cinderella story which touches people deeply. VERY briefly: I was SEVERELY clinically depressed and suicidal for 20 years. I always had enough pills to end my life. After every medical option had been tried and re-tried .....

someone suggested Jesus. As a Jewish woman ....i didn't think that was too swell a solution and i knew that my family's reactin would be one of horror. But I had nothing to lose at that point and so I tried Jesus. Perhaps needless to say .... over the course of 2 years He healed me and I have not had a clinical depression since 1980.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!! My first book is about the experience of my healing and the things that the LORD taught me duruing my burgeoning journey. I'm writing a novel now and when it is finished I know that I will want to get back on the road and talk about the content of this new book. But I reallly can't at my present weight. I don't have the stamina or interest or initiative. I am scheduled for a Lap Band on July 28th although i have not been approved yet. (My Dr. assures me that approval will not be a problem because of the medical issues i have due to the excess weight.) I'm leary. I'm a little scared. I'm wanting health and fitness soooooo much but it feels a little out of reach today..... and yesterday ..... and the day before. I was seriously considering by-pass until about 3 days ago. Long story. But now I am pretty settled on lap band. Unless anyone of you can give me a good reason why by-pass would be a fine and dandy option.

I have a mother with Altzheimers and my only sibling has attempted suicide 3 times in the past 2 years. (He too suffers from clinical depression.) So I have a full plate and a lot of responsibilities .......

but i feel that i must proceed with this invaluable tool for weight loss

in order to get my life back. I MISS ME !!!!!!!!!

  24. Hey there! I wasn't ignoring, I swear! I just didn't know i had a message:P So how are things going now?? Losing again after your fill?? I lost weight only while on the liquid diet and honestly haven't lost anything for like 9wks! I'm trying to be good--yes, I can eat most things too, in moderation anyway. I'm really anxious to start losing again though! I've been busting my keester at the gym and I stay within like 2lbs of what I was 2wks after surgery... Ugh. I've had two fills although my fill dr. most likely didn't get it in correctly the first time. Anyway, I've got another one coming up in a couple weeks here, so I'm anxious to start losing again!! So anyway, I'm rambling, but lemme know how things are going for you! ;)

  25. HI Traci! I have been in Indiana!! I was there for a week over the fourth of July! The weather was surprisingly accomodating! I have been doing well since my surgery I had my first fill on July 10th. It was a little troublesome, I guess he had trouble finding the port opening, but FINALLY had success and added 4 cc's. I really don't feel much different, but I have lost a total of 62# since Jan, and 23# since the surgery, May 27. I have started swimming on my days off! It is blasted hot here, most days over a 100 F!

I am starting to feel so much better but I still know I have to lose ALOT more, so I am trying to increase my activity! I do want to start biking, I know that is your thing, but I have to wait til it cools off.

    How are you??
