You can stall several times while you are losing so yes you may be stalling again. Remember a stall is the time your body uses to reassess & readjust to your lower weight & new needs. It resets things like digestive hormones, metabolism, etc.

How much hair did you lose after surgery and when was it noticeable?
Arabesque replied to longhaul68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It started at about month 3 or 4 & lasted about three months. This tends to be pretty common in terms of starting & finishing times regardless of taking supplements or additional ‘hair growing’ vitamins. I didn’t lose so much it was noticeable to others (beside my mother & hairdresser) but I had lots of hair to begin. I cut my hair to just above my shoulders so that it wouldn’t take the new growth as long to reach the length of my hair. (Remember your new growth is still growing g at it’s usual rate while your shedding cycle has been accelerated.) I did notice a slight change in texture from the anaesthetic (can contribute to your hair loss too). It eventually grew out. I lost hair in the past after a stressful time like you too and this time seemed pretty similar… except I didn’t freak out as I knew what to expect. -
Congrats to all that have met your goals and received date for surgery. I finally obtained surgery on April 11 2023 after a 5 year struggle. I have to say the surgery is not as bad as I thought it would be as far as pain. I chose the Sleeve and the procedure took about 1 hour and 15 minutes. My pain was never over a 3 and I felt great right afterwards. I was able to walk over a mile in the hallway the night of surgery. That is one thing I will suggest to all getting the surgery. Get up and walk as often as you can after surgery. It really has made my recovery so much easier Once I went home I was walking 3 to 4 miles a day with no issues. I wish you all luck and great overall health improvement in your journey.

I’m 6 days into my 14 day liquid diet. The first 3 days were bad. It’s definitely gotten easier. I been averaging 5 premier shakes and try to drink at least 3-4 cups of water along with 2 cups of chicken broth. I’m having a hard time sleeping because all this liquid is making me use the restroom every 2hrs. I tried to finish shakes + dinner by 9-10p and still wake up from my exploding bladder.

How much hair did you lose after surgery and when was it noticeable?
SleeveToBypass2023 replied to longhaul68's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From about 3 1/2 months out through 9 1/2 months, I saw my hair thin out A LOT. It was noticeable and I had to change up how I wore it to try and hide that you could see my scalp. I also cut my hair shorter and started using volumizing hair care products to try and hide it. It finally slowed down and 9 1/2 months and now and just over a week away from 1 year out, it's starting to regrow. -

Day 4 of conversion to bypass and MAJOR hernia repair
BabySpoons replied to coccomo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Did the doc send you home with any pain medication? I had RNY and a hernia repair like you. I was in surgery for 4 hours and my first week was rough too. I sipped water, Premiere Protein, tried to get up and walk every couple hours to prevent blood clots and rest. The Hydrocodone helped the first week but didn't need it after that. Hang in there. I'm on week 3 now and most all my pain is gone. The only way I will ever regret getting the surgery is if it doesn't work. But I highly doubt that. Most everyone says they would do it all over again in a heartbeat. It's just hard to think that way so early on in the process. {{hugs}} -
Good morning, I am 4 months post RNY. I can usually eat about 800-1000 calories a day. My mind and heart are fighting because I know I am not overeating (I also work out almost everyday) but my weight is fluctuating up and down with no real loss for a few weeks. Could I be stalling at 4 months? My head knows the answer but my heart needs confirmation. Thanks!

What am I doing wrong?
SuziDavis replied to heatherdbby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a stall that lasted 2 months, I finally went with the one thing I avoided, carb loaded for 2 days then back to my strict diet. I also added a little more weight training. It did the trick. I broke the stall and got back on track. -

Aww Steeler. Hope you’re ok. I have Fibro too so I hear you. Easier said than done but try and relax. The stress only makes it all worse as you know. You’re going to feel so different in a week or so! You got this. -

Mine is a 10-day liquid diet…basically 3 shakes a day, SF jello or popsicles, reduced sodium broth, and all the water I want. 😂 I’m jealous of those of you that get to have food that you chew during your pre-op. But I’m thankful it’s only 10 days! -

Thank you all! Day 3 has been a little better. Just a little headache that hasn’t even required Tylenol yet. I’m not starving, but definitely miss food and chewing! 😂 Can’t wait for the next phase!!! -

I’m 25 years old and just got my sleeve in November. I have no regrets thus far. Like others mentioned, the first few weeks were ROUGH so it’s important to have support - whether it be friends, family, therapist.

Day 4 of conversion to bypass and MAJOR hernia repair
learn2cook replied to coccomo's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I’m so sorry it’s been so difficult. I started the turn around by day five, like being able to sleep propped up in bed. I’ve never slept so deeply since having a child. I started sleeping like a child myself. You will get this. I stuck to water and Gatorade mostly the first week because everything hurt. Eventually I realized warm drinks felt better like low salt chicken bone broth, and warmed up dark chocolate pea protein drink. The third week was when I could try thicker things like frozen Greek yogurt, and jello. I used Omeprazole 40mg 2x a day and that horrible liquid spit 4x a day to help the inner lining heal. I walked around to distract myself and help with healing. Circulating blood and sunlight help a lot. I live near the ocean so I watched the waves and boats. Do whatever it takes to distract yourself. I took up crochet and guitar to keep my hands and mind busy off of food. These are still good hobbies for me. The double surgery is a doozy and you’re right, you do hurt more than other people are saying on here. You will definitely feel better very soon, about when your voice comes back clearer, it will be easier to swallow. It will all be worth it when you can sleep flat, sing, walk up stairs without feeling winded, talk melodiously, all because your throat isn’t sore and swollen! -
Update* im currently about 6 weeks post op. my drinking has improved drastically i am able to drink roughly 75oz of liquids a day. I have 2 bottles. A 32oz that I prepare a chai tea with a fairlife 42g protein shake and a 40oz bottle which I prepare with water and crystal light. From 8am to 8pm im sipping and usually finish before. For me straw helps a lot.

I’m on shakes only and “clear” sugar-free liquids. It hasn’t been as bad as I thought as far as hunger, but oh my lord Day 3 was horrible. Caffeine withdrawal migraine for 3 days and fatigue. Finally getting over that bump. Good luck, everyone!! -

Pre-Op Diet Hell

Day 2 is the worst. OK well maybe day 3. After that you'll be heading into ketosis and honestly it'll be a million times easier. It really really IS worth these horrendous few days to get out the other end, into surgery ,and then into your new life. Please post plenty here, we have all been through it and yes it's AWFUL!! Do no on any account stray from the plan. Shout and wail all you like xx Cannot wait to hear about your losses after your surgery 😍 -
I'm a week into my pre-op diet. Things have finally started to settle down. My question is, is it normal to not be hungry? I forgot about my lunch protein drink until 2 pm, and 2 hours later, I'm still sipping on it. I just don't want it. I'm drinking it because I know I need it, but still. Thanks for your input.

Pre-Op Diet Hell
LindsayT replied to SleeveMeAlone23's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about a week into the pre-op diet, and it was ROUGH. But, it gets better. The headaches finally stopped, and today, I have barely thought about food. In fact, it's almost 4 pm right now, and I'm still sipping on lunch. A lunch, by the way, I forgot about eating. We even went to the grocery, and I was totally fine. The weird part was all the smells and food was actually calming. It gets better. Keep pushing through. YOU GOT THIS!!!
