    Oikos Greek Yogurt

Hey I never thought of using the Mio drops. I use the Torrini sf syrups or DaVinci sf syrup. I do love the Greek yogurts that have the fruit in them, but the carbs are very high. I have also put SF jam in the plain. It's really good when you add in a little sf pudding mix. The syrups thin out he yogurt but the pudding thickends it back up and makes it quite tasty.

    Oikos Greek Yogurt

I like Fage greek yogurt at 23 grams protein for 1 cup. It tastes like sour cream. When I was on the liquid and soft foods diets it saved me from having to drink protein drinks.

How soon after eating do YOU Drink??

My doc said 30 min. and the nurse added that if I'm eating something soft like yogurt, I could actually drink after 20 since the sliding foods don't stay in the pouch as long as solids. I'm also concerned about getting in all my liquids - and drank 8-10 glasses a day before banding while on WW, so it's not as though I never drank much before.
  4. What type are you using? If you haven't tried a pre-mixed drink like Premier protein shakes, give that a try. Or maybe use an unflavored protein in some unsweetened applesauce or yogurt if you have progressed to puree. Usually the nausea will get better over time.
  5. I'm just starting full liquids today so I don't have a lot of experience to give but I plan on using protein shakes, cottage cheese, yogurt and possibly trying out protein pudding. I was able to get in about 6 tablespoons of protein shake this morning before I felt really uncomfortable. I think it's gas/period pain but I didn't want to push it. I've had a few sips of water over the last 45 min and the pain seems to be subsiding. My advise would be to stick to easy proteins and try things like chicken in a week or two and see how it goes. It's almost like feeding a baby food for the first time. Doesn't always go well, try again after some time has passed. Good luck! Sent from my LM-Q910 using BariatricPal mobile app
  6. I had the weirdest experience after my fill. I got the tiniest of fills - 1/2 a cc- and was fine in the doctor's office. I was fine the rest of the day and then in the evening I was eating a yogurt and I started getting that "stuck" feeling that I only have had in the past if I forgot to chew solid food thoroughly. The next morning I had oatmeal, and THAT got stuck. For the next two days I could barely eat any food, even mushies, until dinner time. Today is the 3rd day after the fill and I haven't tried eating anything yet, but this is SO weird! Has anyone else experienced this delayed reaction to a fill?

    Delayed reaction after fill

I'm experiencing the same thing! I had a fill on Wednesday, followed by liquid for 24 hours and soft foods for the next 24 hours. Today is Sunday and yogurt is getting stuck. I have a friend, whom is a doctor, she said that her band was tighter during her period. I started today so Im wondering if that is what is going on with me.

    Pre Op diet disaster

I think the point of the liquid diet is to prepare you mentally for what's to come. Right now, you can cheat a little and nothing horrible will happen (unless you don't shrink your liver and your doctor decides not to do your surgery....it's happened) But here's the problem.... Immediately after surgery, you have about two to three days where you don't ingest ANY calories...just clear fluids. Then, you're on shakes and clear liquid for TWO MORE WEEKS. You'll get like 400 calories a day if you're lucky. And If you screw up and eat something AFTER surgery? You can really hurt yourself and end up needing emergency surgery for whatever you get stuck. My doctor did a talk about all the horror stories of his career....the stupid things people ate and the trouble they got into. Not good. AVOID THIS. You're just getting started. For me, it was the post surgical period where I nearly gnawed my own arm off. LOL But yeah...that MONTH of freakin starvation just sucked. It really did. Honestly....it was much harder (in my opinion) than the actual surgery. But the good news...is that you will survive it. And you'll drop quite a few pounds to soothe your misery. And you'll be eating yogurt and cream of wheat before you know it. I was on the liquid diet for Thanksgiving and cooked for my family. OMG...so hard! For Christmas, though...I get to eat finely cut up turkey and mashed potatoes. And it sounds like heaven. You all have my sympathies. Stay strong!

    Oikos Greek Yogurt

The plain or vanilla flavors have less sugar than the fruit flavors. I was told to stay away from the fruit ones, and be sure to get the fat free kind. Greek yogurt definitely has more protein than regular yogurt.
  11. I’m doing really well. I’m off pain meds today and am a little tired but otherwise ok. I’ve met my fluid goals each day. I’ve been close to protein (met 1 day) but to do that I feel like I’m putting something in my mouth all day - I know that I’m eating just a tiny amount but between 3 meals (2 oz soup or Greek yogurt) and the 2 protein shakes I need to get protein it is really hard. you?

    Feeling scared

Beware.....scolding in progress. Here's the thing, you just had major surgery on your stomach. No matter how bad the head hunger is, do you really think eating chocolate at all is wise a few days after surgery? I am guessing your answer is no or you would not be on here in scared mode. Honestly you should be scared. You should pick up the phone and immediately call your therapist. Having WLS is 90% head, 10% if that surgery. You can eat around your surgery from day one. and if you do, why bother going through all the pre work and pain? That is called self destruction and you need to get a handle on it now. For me, sugars cravings have never gone away. I have had to learn to deal with this. Sometimes you give in and have something but never ever just when you get home from the hospital. Lastly I would say that baby food does not have the nutrition that homemade prepared purees have. Not to mention they taste like crap unless you are eating all the fruits which have carbs in them. Why not simply make some of your own purees, eat greek yogurt, cottage cheese, Protein shakes, ricotta bake. There are a ton of bariatric friendly pureed stage options available on pinterest. I really wish you the best but you are definately going to need some help to get your head hunger under control. When those cravings come up the best thing you can do is try to get your mind off of it. Firstly, you cannot possibly be feeling real hunger at this stage. Dehydration mimics hunger for us. So if you feel it keep sipping your approved liquids until that feeling goes away. If you have met your liquid goals and still feel that way, you are likely feeling some reflux if you are a sleeve patient. If not those two things it is definately head hunger and you need some coping mechanisms. I use distraction techniques....go wash dishes, do some laundry, take a shower, do something with your hands like crafts - knitting, crocheting....etc. get your mind off of food. Lastly do NOT watch food porn shows or commercials, they can make head hunger terrible. Go see a therapist they will provide lost of techniques and get at the bottom of why you are already self sabotaging.

  14. Hi, I'm Suzanne. I had my surgery the 24th. When the new day nurse came in on the 25th, she smelled like garlic and onions...which I used to adore...but. yuck! It was horrid. Then at home my husband got into bed and was reeking of garlic, onions, toothpaste and God knows what else. And the dog....smelled like kibble. Ugh. This is a superpower side effect. Wondering how long it is going to last... I haven't come close to getting my liquids, protien or Vitamins in but I'm hoping today will be the day! Swelling is going down, incisions are healing nicely and I can lay on my stomach now. I am on full liquids but just added "real" food yesterday (only Water, and a couple bites of Jello wed and thurs) Yesterday I tried some herbal tea (fantastic!), watery cream of wheat (yummy), cream of chicken soup spiked with Protein powder, and triple zero Greek yogurt. Only managed a few bites of each but they were all wonderful taste sensations! I have not weighed myself yet. Today's goals...liquids, protein, walking. And measurements. I need to take measurements! Good luck to all! Our journey has begun! Sent from my SM-G935V using the BariatricPal App
  15. I'm 18 days out, and for the past three days I've got my protein in via my food versus drinks. Yahoo! I'm averaging between 60-70 grams of protein and between 700 and 800 calories. I use greek yogurt, eggs, light string cheese, refried beans with cheddar, tuna, and crab to get it all in. It really hasn't been difficult with a little planning. I get to introduce soft foods next week, so I will add fish and some ground meats to my variety.

    What's for lunch today?

Now I can have salads again I had a chicken Caesar salad. I had some pre cooked diced chicken , toss with some romaine and shaved Parmesan. I like Marzettis yogurt based light Caesar dressing. I can’t eat what I used to, but I’m enjoying eating real food instead of shakes and such for sure! I made turkey chili last week and froze half of it for next week maybe.

    This is me

Thank you for responding! I drink 2 to 2.5 Premier Protien shakes a day, on 5oz greek yogurt, and half a can of soup. I'm getting between 36 to 48 oz of water a day. I am taking a multivitamin daily. I havent started solids and have been told to stay away from bananas. I've been positive before the surgery and 90% positive after. I do get sown at family and friend gatherings that surround food. I have tried to find ways to express this to them, but no luck getting them to understand. I'm now learning how to deal with emotions instead of shoving food down my throat. Never thought the emotion part would be difficult. Miss Mac, thank tou for menttioning the tummy talk back! Mine started doing that four days ago each time I wat my soup. It came out of nowhere. Is that normal? So far I'm so grateful I've been able to do this! I'm 1/3 down to my goal.

    Alcohol???

I would never consume my daily calories in alcohol. But I want to enjoy my life. I also tend to work out longer on days I do to make up for it. And yes I even log every drink I take in myfitnesspal. Yes I consume alcohol and yes I eat ice cream, well delicious frozen yogurt sometimes. Everything in moderation, that was always the problem I had before the band and it has helped make amazing changes to the way I choose to live my life.

    March 19 yay!!!!!!!

I've got a grocery list started. My dietician recommends crystal light, propel, calorie free or sugar free drinks, broth Soups, and sugar free popsicles. These are "free" foods that you can have in unlimited amounts. Other foods like gatorade, reg. Jello, popsicles, light yogurt, or Protein shakes I can have in limited amounts because of the sugar. I'm not real excited about doing this, but the nurse expained to me that the longer you can do this diet, the better it will be for your surgery. Your liver will get smaller and be out of the way for the laproscopic surgery. I'm going to try my best! I'm going to the grocery store tonight.

Cottage cheese or greek yogurt. Greek yogurt is often made from milk that has been enriched by boiling off some of its Water content, or by adding extra butterfat and powered milk, It contains a higher Protein density than regular yogurt, which is largely casein protein. Cottage cheese does, too. You can find more about health benefits of cottage cheese at https://wikihomenutrition.com/cottage-cheese-health-benefits/
